Used UBER for the first time ever. It is so awesome! I will never use an over priced taxi or valet service ever again! The traditional taxi services are quietly trying to keep UBER from doing business with very poor and tasteless tactics. For example, did you know that the Taxi services are restricting UBER from picking up good folks like ourselves from the Orlando airport?! Why because they are greedy and can't compete so instead block UBER. Moreover the hotel we stayed at had no shuttle from the airport and when asked how to get there I was told that I MUST use a taxi service from the airport. This was the Embassy Suites at Lake Buenos Vista (8100 Lake St) in Florida. I asked after arriving from UBER why they didn't provide me other options when I asked. The answer was that they have a contract with the local taxi service not to mention UBER. I was then told everyone there and Disney Employees even use it! Unbelievable how the taxis are doing this! On top of this they bad mouth UBER. When the tables are reversed UBER drivers don't bad mouth the taxi services. A lot of props goes to the underdogs and those taking the high road. Now some other specifics: A traditional taxi from Orlando airport to Embassy Suites would cost you $80 plus tip. An UBER XL (larger vehicle for luggage) cost me just now $19.38! I was given a $20 off from a prior UBER ride that I used for my wife's phone which the driver suggested. So total would be just under $40 which is half the amount you would pay for just one way! That is pretty UBER if you ask me. We used UBER the whole time to get around even to get to Downtown Disney and the parks. It was simply awesome and the best $5-10 spent. Five of us easily went into an UBER X. For the Airport pickup is simple. Move the pin to the freeway just north of the airport and request an UBER. Then call the driver and tell him/her which terminal to pickup from. It's not against the law and if you see a taxi on the way out just flick them off!!! (Note: tip the driver in this case because he won't start the trip until outside of the airport grounds saving you money but they loose money too) I have to go but pick up times were never more than 5 minutes and no taxi service can beat that! read more

What's up with the super high fare? More expensive then a yellow cab! I use them 5 days a week. Sometimes two to three times a day... This ain't cool. Fix it uber! read more

Uber is such a blessing to Central Florida. We have used it many times, once even from the airport. I am happy to have a safe ride home from a night of fun. We used to try to go by bikes when we wanted to imbibe a bit but now we have this much safer and less sweaty option. Cabs in central Florida were so unreliable. Uber always shows up when it says it will. My only complaint is the surcharge on the "high demand" times. To get more drivers to drive for late late nights they add a surcharge to attract them. I understand the reason but it doubled our cost to get home one night. The flip side is that it was at 3:00 am and I will probably only stay out that late once every two years. I just hope that there are no surcharges on midnight rides(which I would be more likely to take). read more

Fantastic! Safe, friendly service with clean cars that arrive when they're supposed to. Can't wait for Uber to demolish Mears and send them into bankruptcy! Unfortunately some local politicians are engaged in protecting the vile local taxi industry which is why you cannot at the moment easily request Uber at MCO and also why the Orlando fares are higher. I see several complaints about surge pricing. This mechanism is what incentivizes additional drivers to get on the road when there is insufficient supply. You are forced to physically type the fare multiplier into your phone. If you are either too drunk to realize this or too stupid to understand how multiplication works you probably also shouldn't be using Yelp. read more

Uber has been great in Orlando. Competitive prices, clean cars, and drivers who know their way around and know how to use smartphone GPS. I have used it around often. Tried to order Uber recently for pick up from MCO on Mar 13th. No Uber because airport authority aren't allowing them to provide services to passengers. They are not paying some airport fees. Am I not paying already enough through expensive air ticket that I have to pay for an expensive taxi to get myself transported from airport to my home? Need a break please! I paid $100+ this time for the same trip for which Uber costed $40 few months ago when it was allowed at MCO. And this taxi driver had no idea of where I had to go. Instead of relaxing in the ride I had to keep checking where he was going. Airport authority and Uber need to figure this out. We need Uber pickups back at MCO. Haven't tested yet if drop-offs are canceled as well. Hope not. read more

Uber And Their Disloyalty To Uber Drivers I had been an Uber driver for 5 years, reached professional driver status the last 2. Had a 4.97 rating out of 5 stars with over 15,000 trips with them(and that's not easy to do when you're relying on riders opinion of you; worked m-f starting at 3am and driving for 7 to 8 hrs., and sat.-sun. starting at 5am, working 3-5 hrs., 70-80 trips consistently each week was my quota, and still wasn't enough to pay bills, averaging about 700-800/week. Was having to use portion of my savings for help, And to top that off, worked everyday during the Covid Pandemic world crisis, risking my life at 60 yrs. old, to provide a service at least for the healthcare workers, and also risking it by taking Covid sick patients to the Hospital. in and around Orlando, Fl. since at the time were practically the only ones working, and received lots of appreciation from my riders, even though they were the real heroes during this Covid Pandemic crisis. But did i get any kind of recognition from uber showing appreciation for risking my life driving for them and keeping their service available during that time, NO! Instead, they couldn't wait for me to get any kind of blemish on my record so they could fire me, without me seeking any justice in my false arrest. So in other words, to uber, you are guilty until proven innocent, not the other way around. Granted I still needed to work to pay bills and provide for my family, didn't want bail unemployment money from the gov't., so I still knew there was opportunity for me to work. I was falsely arrested back in early Sept. of 2020 at my apt. complex after being off work for about 2hrs., had the charges dropped 30 days later, and by the way, uber fired me the next day after I was arrested. I was bailed out that night, and my account was deactivated. Informed Uber of the outcome, that my charges were dropped, they told me I needed to get that expunged from my record in order for me to get my driver account activated The lawyer fee for this is $1500. I don't have that kind of money. It took Uber over 6 months to finally tell me what to do if i wanted my account reactivated. Been out of work for 11 months, at 60 years old, not too many opportunities out there for me. Uber treats their drivers like they are highly expendable, due to the amount of drivers they can hire for this cheap income service. So if you have credentials compared to what i have established with uber mentioned at the top, that, to them, is completely meaningless. And also, just think of what type of service you would get if you were to call for an uber pickup, and uber hires drivers at will!! Due to high driver turnover rate. It's like" gee,I wonder who is coming to pick me up, could it be a professional driver like i was, or just any random driver they hired off the streets. Their have been some bad situations late at night for people being picked up by uber drivers, especially females needing a ride home from a night club or bar, or anywhere at that time for that matter, and yes, having picked up females before at that time, the stories they told me would frighten anyone about Uber drivers. I heard some get very aggressive, and try to take advantage of females they pick up at bars or night clubs. One lady told me she got picked up by a driver late at night from a bar, who put the child lock on the door she was sitting near, so she couldn't get out because the driver knew she had been drinking when he picked her up and saying to her that he wanted to have sex with her. She was able to dial 911 on her phone, driver got scared, she was able to get out, and he sped off. The law did arrive eventually, and she told me he was arrested. After that incident, stopped calling Uber for Uber pickups, lost trust completely. Uber, to me, is the worst company in the world to work for. It's like the gov't, way too much bureaucracy within the organization, which takes a decent cut out of your earnings for the rest of the out-of-control number of departments they have to pay. If I were you, lyft would be the way better option if you were choosing between the two. I would give uber a .5 rating out of 5 if the scale went down that far. Forget about me getting a lawyer for a lawsuit, all are cowards around here, don't want to take on big tech uber with all their lawyers to hide behind. And what's even more despicable about Uber, knowing they keep a record of all my credentials on file, and the loyalty I have proven to Uber over the years I worked, shows me the disregard and disloyalty that they have for their drivers. Which I believe they have way too many layers of bureaucracy within their organization, and the only way Uber is going to succeed is by relying on government subsidies, which means on Taxpayer dime, they would be doomed for failure if not! read more

We used Uber a total of four times while in Clermont for a friend's wedding. The longest we had to wait for a driver was between 6-10 minutes. Every ride was smooth & the driver's drove like normal human beings and not like some wacky taxi drivers do. All driver's were friendly as well. Each ride was less than $6.00 to transport 4 people to and from our hotel. You can't beat that !! I would definitely use Uber of the Clermont area when we are in town again. read more

Uber has been such a great addition to Orlando. What's not to love- you pull up the app, request service, and mere moments later, a newish (well, newer than any cab I've ever taken) car is ready to whisk you off to wherever you need to go! There's no guessing what the fare will be, no need to have cash on hand, and so far, in my experience, the drivers are safe and friendly. I've used it multiple times now, mainly to go downtown in the evenings. They offer so many free codes, I have yet to pay much, if anything for a ride. This is a great alternative to having to flag down a cab and or call and wait for one to eventually show up. read more

So this is a review for Uber Orlando, Florida. My Driver was Perry. Very profession and courteous. He was a conscientious driver. I was unable to be ready to leave when my husband and granddaughter were ready,so opted to obtain my own transportation and meet up with them. I had checked with the property where we were staying and they did allow Uber to come in through Guard to transport their guests. They will either come right to the location you are staying or you can meet them in front of the lobby area . I was happy to hear this as I saw that they were still operating in the Orlando area when I googled them, unlike the Austin area. Although I do not live in "The city of Austin" ,some of my children do and we all support people who work for a living ...so we were very disappointed at the outcome of the recent vote then eliminated Uber from Austin. (sorry I rarely do any kind of political commentary) Going on with my review of Perry the driver and of Uber company when we were in the Orlando area, the service was exceptional. Perry the driver, texted me with an estimated time of arrival which was just a few minutes away and actually was there a couple minutes earlier than anticipated. He made it easy for me to identify him. He Introduced himself, and we made our way very safely to the park where I was connecting with my husband and granddaughter. Drivers in the Orlando area near the theme parks, drive even worse then they do here locally. Perry paid attention and was able to avoid other drivers that were driving on the defense rather than the offense which he used as his tactic. After I had already done a car rental on Expedia,I actually read that a lot of times it's just as cost-effective to use Uber because you don't have the parking fees if you're going to the theme parks which you do only have to pay one per day but still it's $20. Based on the bad experience I had with my car rental choice I think I would use Uber in the future and forget renting a car if the agenda is either just to vacation at a resort or the beach or just do the theme parks because once you get in the theme parks you can essentially travel between them for free. Many properties offer shuttles and ours did but that was one of the downsides to our property it was few and far between . So it's an Uber ride there and back which depending on how far away you are ended up being about $13 for me versus $29 for a taxi ride! Thank you Perry I'm sorry it took me so long to get this written but I wanted to make sure you and the great service that Uber provided was acknowledged! read more

I've risen with Uber 4 times now, and I absolutely love it. Orlando cab services are so unreliable that I have taken up calling two companies in hopes that one will actually show up. And then comes Uber. 3 of my 4 Uber rides have originated downtown and arrived within minutes. You can track where your driver is, so you can meet them outside and be on your way. My 4th Uber ride originated in Winter Park, and it was a significantly longer wait (23 minutes, estimated). The service is definitely better if you're in the center hub of Orlando, rather than one of the outlaying towns. Each of the drivers I've had were extremely friendly. Cars have all been clean, with hand sanitizer and/or bottles of water in the door for customers to use. I love that I don't have to pay cash; I can hook my Uber phone app straight to my card or Paypal and then there is no worries about scrambling for payment. Definitely going to continue using Uber to get around town!! read more

Uber has lost its magic touch. No more customer service. They wrong you and then they make it impossible for you to complain. Even if you do, they always claim they did not receive anything... No calls are possible ... e-mails bounce back with a fake apology. Today Uber kept me stranded almost 30 minutes waiting for a ride. Every ten minutes they would change the driver or the car and renew the wait-time. Finally, they cancelled tbe ride because my "order could not be processed" and asked me to re-do the order. I did. And after 10 minutes of waiting (with calls going and coming between me and the driver because the Uber maps were sending her to another destination), FINALLY, the ride took me back home just to find out that Uber had charged me TWICE: once for my ride back home, and once for the ride they had CANCELLED. At the bottom of the receipt, there was a space for a "reply". I did write a complaint there. But it soon bounced back to me after sending it. DISGUSTING. read more

Uber is a great service if you are visiting a city without a car, or if you have your car but have been drinking and shouldn't drive or plan to drink and don't want to drive. I have had nothing but terrible experiences with Uber recently. The service used to be good but then the drivers' pay was cut heavily. As a result, less drivers are on the road, the cars are sub-par, and pickup times are longer. I know a few Uber drivers that don't even make minimum wage because Uber pays so little and passengers don't tip. I will never use this service again. UPDATED October 2017 - Tried Uber again. Car reeked of cigarettes and the woman's a/c was broken. I complained via the app, and received a $5 ride credit. I used the credit the same day, and the next driver's car reeked of pot smoke and he drove like a maniac. Complained via the app, got a refund. I won't be giving Uber anymore chances. As they say, you get what you pay for. read more

Love Uber for what it tries to be and in most cases Accomplishes. Retired citizens, disabled, bad credit, or just sick of working like a slave for nothing, Uber provides an alternative to the common day job and gets people around that might not otherwise be able to. That said, Yes some drivers aren't that great. Fair enough because some passengers aren't that great either. People vary as the usually do in most things. Using reviews and driver info in the app helps you choose the best ride or passenger you can find. read more

Do not reserve an Uber in advance if you're staying in Disney resort hotels. I reserved a ride to the airport 3 days prior, and the driver didn't show up after he accepted the job.  When you're going to the airport, you need something dependable.  After 15 minutes, I cancelled the request, and drove myself.  I received an apology email from Uber and a $10 credit.  Considering that I will now pay over $200 for airport parking, that $10 credit was a slap in the face.  This was my 2nd attempt at using Uber - the first was great - but with 50% dependability, you can bet I won't ever call them again. read more

I can't begin to express how bad Uber's customer service is. I've been fighting for the privilege of adding a payment method to my account for months to no avail. You can't call customer service , because there isn't customer service. Text them and good luck! I finally gave up and downloaded Lyft. Safety issue with a driver can't get a hold of anyone critical safety hotline is a joke please contact me it shouldn't be this hard to get a hold of you guys This review will be updated on status. First contact with Uber with this safety issue was on 1/8/19 it's now 1/14/19 and still no contact for a safety concern for one if it's riders. Update 1/20/19 still no contact. Ordered from Uber eats tonight. Right car wrong driver. Again adding another safety issue because who was the driver that drove to my house? Update 2/06/18 still no contact. Maybe would have been different if it was a legal issue with them. But apparently they don't care for their riders. Asked to investigate their mechanic that certifies their cars...nothing... asked for a call back nothing....asked for anything but money....here's a hundred dollars. Still waiting on a call from you guys....... read more

Our Uber ride from the hotel to Universal was uneventful, I wouldn't have thought anything was strange at all. Did 2 rides from Universal studios back to our Hotel on I-drive. Cheaper and more convenient than a taxi? No, wrong on both accounts. Come closing time we opened up the uber app to get a ride back to our hotel, Literally every service was more expensive than the taxi service. And the price they quoted on the app for ubertaxi was more expensive than what the guy in the yellow "taxi" shirt said it should be for the ride. (which was spot on what the meter came to) $8.40 on the meter and I ended up giving the guy $11.00 X was $15 and XL was $20 We had a party of 6 and they put us right in a taxi van/minibus. If there's a taxi line think twice before ordering an uber, the taxi might be cheaper anyway, and ya know... right there... read more

Great trip from city walk to MCO. Uber needs to find a way to get into MCO for pickups at the airport though. I can't figure out how to give Uber feedback through their website about my issue so here goes. I pre-scheduled an Uber to pick me up at 5 AM to take me from the Polynesian to the Orlando Airport. The app didn't show that anyone was on the way until 5, then showed the driver was 18 minutes away. I waited another 10 minutes and the app still showed the driver being 14 minutes away. Because I had to be on time or miss my flight, I took a cab, which cost me $90, three times as much as Uber would have cost. Needless to say, I was not happy. read more

Beware of extra charges because the driver reports more passengers in the car than what actually traveled. I was just charged 50% more of the original charge a week after the trip because the driver reported there were more than 4 people and they stated I selected the incorrect category. I was the ONLY rider in the vehicle. The driver, Miguel, picked me up in a minivan even though I picked Uber X for 1-4 people. Again, I was the only rider. He picked me up from Disney Saratoga Springs Resort and dropped me off at my friends house in Apollo Beach, FL with no problem and I gave him a good rating and tip. A week later I get an email saying my fare was corrected and charged more with no explanation. I did not authorize any charges. When I reported to customer support, this is when they stated that the driver reported I had more than 4 riders and should have picked the correct rider category. I let them know that what was reported was false and the driver lied and I regretted giving a tip after this false statement. They refunded the extra charge and gave me a credit for the tip, but I'm inconvenienced because I have to wait 3-5 business days for a refund because their driver lied. Uber needs to verify claims from drivers (especially when it's so delayed) before they charge customer cards without approval/authorization. I suggest taking a picture of you in the car with all passengers and the driver for back up. Very disappointed with Uber. read more

Used Uber for the first time despite the recent shooting incident in Denver for our off site Disney excursions. Our first trip went well; however, every trip after that we ended up with a Spanish speaking driver who could not communicate with us. They were all cordial and greeted us with hello and goodbye, and as long as we get where we are going I don't have an issues, but one of our drivers refused to pick us up at Universal where the app indicated and then cancelled the trip charging us a cancellation fee. This fee of $5.75 was added as a credit to the account shortly after. Another driver could not even understand her own google maps on her phone and took us a few miles out of the way and then finally back to our hotel. I see Uber is adding an UberEnglish app for other Countries, but maybe it's time to consider adding it for the US as well. An app that serves the masses should serve them in any language. read more

YAY's: We had some absolutely fantastic Uber drivers on this business trip! While our superb, friendly, gentlemanly airport driver was from Haiti (a 15-year native in the US), a lot of them are from Latin countries, particularly Dominican Republic and Cuba. These are honest, hard working family men who are making sure they work to provide for their families and make family life a priority. Flexibility was their #1 reason when we asked why they drive Ubers. Some of them were Richard, Juan, Carlos, Javier and Emanuel. They EACH get a FIVE STAR rating!! They showed up within minutes. Their vehicles were spotless and comfortable. They were friendly, helpful, made suggestions and made every effort to make our experience a perfect one. One even wore a full suit and tie, saying he doesn't show up for work without being dressed in this professional attire. Their English was at varying levels yet they were easy to communicate with each time. Always greeted us with a smile, a welcome and opened doors for us upon pickup and dropoff. They thanked us every time as well, for using Uber and giving them the opportunity to serve us. (They could teach a lot of businesses a lot about customer service excellence!) Pricewise, without exception, we saved money. The one taxi driver negotiated with us once we told him what we'd been paying Uber on average for the same or similar trip while in town. It was nonetheless a higher base price, though I will surely say he saved our butts that time. YUCK's: We had a couple of drivers we had to cancel. They just didn't know their way around and didn't speak or understand English enough to allow us to help them find us. We ended up cancelling a couple of these and even resorted to taking a taxi on one occasion. Thank goodness the taxi driver was already at our location and while we had declined originally, saying honestly that we had ordered an Uber, luckily he was still there when we had to cancel the Uber after waiting more than 20 minutes instead of the predicted 3-5 minutes. VERDICT: We'll keep using Uber and continue to support drivers who work hard, uphold family values, believe in the American opportunity, respect America and offer impeccable service. read more

This is a review of our Uber experience in Orlando, FL. From the hotel to Walmart, the ride was great. From Walmart to the hotel..not great at all. A 10-15 minute ride was over a half hour. The driver went past our hotel and basically said oops! and we were on the highway. And could not get off as there were no exits. He was rather sleepy and his car was out of alignment. We were nervous and couldn't wait to get out of the car. After we finally arrived back to the hotel, I found he charged us for his mistake. I promptly contacted Uber and they remedied the problem. I am so thankful for that. So with all that being said, it's a little sketchy out there. Have a plan B if necessary. We went at night so that made us a little nervous as well. read more
