Uber might be one of the worst companies to resolve issues with. If you ever need to contact them whether as a driver or a rider they are nearly impossible to get help from. Indianapolis is particularly bad because their leadership are poor communicators and have poor customer service. It took nearly two months to get one email response and I have yet to get another response to resolve an issue. I would tell you to ride Lyft everyday of the week. read more

I used Uber to go from Fishers to 82nd St in Indianapolis, IN once a week on Wednesday afternoons. I don't anymore because my Debit card was compromised and charges appeared on my account on May 16th that I didn't authorize. Since they store my Debit card #, it had to be stolen from Uber or Fairbanks Hospital. I will never use Uber again as long as they have this policy!! There is nobody to call!!! I used Uber a few weeks ago in Indianapolis. The driver was fine, but I was charged over $85 for a ride that should have been $16. Uber has even acknowledged this and said they will refund me. I am still waiting 3 weeks later. They have no customer service phone number, so I can't talk to a person. I wouldn't recommend using Uber to anyone in the future. read more

This was our first experience with this service. We were staying downtown and had dinner reservations a few blocks away. It was too cold to walk and we had managed to find street parking that we didn't want to lose for the night. We downloaded the app, requested a ride. In 2 minutes, a toasty warm, spotless car driven by a friendly driver picked us up. Our return ride was equally as easy and pleasant. Cannot imagine anything more convenient or affordable. Wow! I took 2 Uber rides today and could not be more disappointed. The first ride showed up in an old Pontiac Grand Am with a seriously cracked windshield and the car was in TERRIBLE condition. In fact, the car looked so bad, I did not want my neighbors to see me getting out of this thing so I literally walked the final mile. I am being completely serious! In addition to the car being terrible, the Uber driver graced me with his music selection, which I would describe as "gangsta rap," with every other word being "bit**" or "fu**." Truly unbelievable. The second ride was arranged by the Porsche dealer when I dropped off my car. I am now "enjoying" a ride in a super smelly and very old Ford Focus that is nothing short of filthy. The driver is filthy as well and he smells awful. Just for kicks, possibly, we are riding from the North side to the airport with the windows down as the A/C is either inoperable or the driver does not want to use it. Truthfully, I do not know which ride is worse, but I will go with the ride from the Porsche dealership to the airport since it is much longer. The noise from the other cars is terrible when you are on 465 with the windows down. I am also feeling sick from the awful smells and the overall frustration with Uber, who clearly will allow anyone with a pulse to endanger the lives of customers to make a buck! I swear every word of this review is truthful. I hope Uber is happy now that its apparent goal of being WORSE than the old cabs has been achieved. I cannot be more disgusted and I am now worried that the awful stench from this car will stay with me for my flight. Thank you, Uber, for ruining my day twice in the span of a couple of hours!!! I live about 8 miles from the airport so taking an Uber was the most convenient way for me to get back and forth without the hassle of leaving my car in long term parking. I have been doing this for months, but my last ride was literally my last ride. Over and over I got complaints about being to close to the airport and having to listen to the driver complain the entire way. This is not how I want to spend 15 minutes of my time after being on a plane all day. The drivers are rude most of the time and I would rather pay a little more for a Taxi than put up with the constant complaining about their jobs. read more

UBER Indianapolis goes to "surge pricing" as a means of price gouging on 3/15/14 We paid a $ 54. fare to go downtown at 5 pm in an SUV on 3/15/14 "surge pricing" was in effect at 10PM when we had to go home after our event. I was charged $ 113. for the return trip. We had the same driver and vehicle down and back. The driver made no more money due to the "surge pricing" to take us home. Their argument and justification is by increasing pricing by 2.5 or 2.75 times normal fares, it will open up vehicles during heavy periods of demand?? yes, only to those they want to gouge and overcharge! Aren't their normal rates based on having all their vehicles in use? Now they charge more when the demand exceeds the supply! I have been a loyal customer but with Uber taking advantage of a busy weekend by price gouging is probably the last straw.... read more

Has a driver for Uber your treated with little respect when it comes to getting help. If they keep this up a lot of driver will leave not worth the little cash you get and miles you put on car. So I would plan on more bad trips. read more

I unfortunately rode with Justus. He is awful!! Drove way under the speed limit and took his sweet time parking. I told him I was going to run into fresh thyme real quick to grab some chicken stock for the recipe I was going to make and I would be right back. Came back 5 minutes later and he said I had to request uber again! Never had that happen! I was fine with that, but I think he accepted another fare. I had to walk to find him when he initially was picking me up and ended up walking the mile and a half home. I was then charged for the ride home! No way to call and explain the situation to uber. I recently took an Uber from my house in Broadripple to the Indy airport during a weekday for $28. Ride was fine with no issues. When returning from the airport an airport employee incorrectly told us Uber wasn't allowed to pick up at the airport. So we grabbed a cab (again daytime on a weekday) and headed home. The same 20 minute ride was $54 only this time the driver spoke little English, and drove a much older vehicle with a check engine light on. Cabs suck, Ubers are 10X better and I'll bet most negative reviews here are from cab drivers or more likely cab companies who make the bulk of the overpriced cab fares. read more

Cost us $86!! That is beyond ridiculous. They did not seem busy so I don't know where this $60 surge charge came from at all, and they won't explain it, they just charge you. Is this a legitimate business, or just a way of robbing people? I was told by an employer to sign up for Uber so that I could take an Uber car from the Indianapolis airport. The charge for the Uber ride was to be charged to the employer's account, NOT MINE. I summoned a car using the app. I got a text saying a car was there. I huffed my heavy luggage to the pick-up point (which is VERY far from the terminal- NOT where cabs and limos are picking up passengers). No car there. Later I get a charge for $5.00 because the driver couldn't be bothered to wait for his passenger. I managed to get another ride to the hotel, no thanks to Uber. I notified my employer. I notified Uber. Now today my bank advises me Uber has charged my account $22.48 for services NOT rendered- and in any event, even had I gotten an Uber ride from the airport, the charge was to go to my employer, not me. But AT THIS TIME I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE SUMMONED AN UBER CAR AND ACTUALLY RECEIVED THE ADVERTISED SERVICE. My advice? Avoid Uber at all costs! They're thieves and have not responded to multiple messages from me..... later the same evening: after back and forth with their (worthless) customer service (misnamed) for way too much time... I just deleted my account. Can't remember a more frustrating experience with any company. read more

I have used this service from Indy, Carmel, San Francisco, Houston, and Minneapolis. I use the UberX service which is not a black car, but the drivers personal car. Which is cheaper usually than the black car. So convenient and priced well. Strongly recommend checking this service/app out. I wont go into all the details of how this works here, but recommend checking it out. Tough to get a cab in Carmel, but with Uber I can get a car quickly and at a better price. read more

I am a Uber driver. I started about 6 weeks ago. I have a driver rating of 4.86 out of 5 stars. Uber has recently cut our pay. Their justification is that we will get more fares. Actually, we are working more for the same pay as before. My customers were almost always happy with my service and clean car. This was my first experience with Uber. I tried Uber since it seems so hard to get a Yellow Taxi pickup without waiting for an hour these days. Uber arrived quickly enough, but here is why I give them 2 stars. They do not run a meter that you can watch, they do not give you an estimated fare BEFORE you use the service. At the end of my short trip with them from midtown to the near north side, I was shocked to see a fare for nearly 40.00. This same trip cost me only 13.40 when I took a yellow cab to the destination earlier in the evening. If you aren't happy with the fare, you are stuck, because they take your credit card information before hand and charge you regardless. I was told by the driver that "uber would call me" do to my dissatisfaction with the fare. Of course they are not going to call me. Then I was given the name of their website and told to "send an email" to customer service. The site has no link to forward emails. When you call their customer service line, you cannot leave a message or talk to anyone. So.... I give them two stars for being really expensive, and having no customer service, and not telling you upfront what your fare is going to be before taking your credit card information. I gave them two stars only because I was picked up promptly. I was not using their "black car" or luxury service, just the most basic service they offer so the high fare can't really be justified for those reasons. read more

I like uber when my app actually works but that is barely the case. My debit card that was on file expired and my account was banned. So when I knew I needed an uber in a couple weeks to go to the airport, I emailed uber support because there is no number for me to contact. The representative got to me by the next day, which was great. They thought they resolved my issue and then when I went back to the account it wouldn't let me log in completely, even after putting in my new card. I had to email them again and they assured me it would work now. Fast forward to the day I needed the ride to the airport, I logged in and when I clicked the button to request my uber it said that my billing information was incorrect and when I tried at least two or three different cards none of them would work. I didn't give myself enough time to get a cab because I was prepared to take uber so I had to drive myself to the airport and park my car at the airport while I was away for a week, getting charged $9 a day!!! read more

Uber: Isn't this a great thing for people who don't want to drive, pay to park, look for parking, a safe way home at night when you've had too much to drink or maybe you just don't own your own car and you know that your chances of getting a taxi in Indy are iffy at best. I am an Uber driver. I am not a taxi driver. I am not your personal chauffeur. If you want someone who wears a cap and a tie....hire one! For all the snotty little 20 something preps and Lilly people who climb in my car, I am not captivated by your $4.00 fare. If you want the driver to have conversation with you, try engaging the driver in conversation. Everyone knows the best way to start a conversation is to be interested in someone or something other than yourself. Stop acting like your doing me a favor by getting in, your taking up my time. Some of you can stand to walk the three blocks to your next destination. It is not OK to put 6 people in my car with no seat belts or have open containers and a lot of you reek of cigarettes. read more

Something UBER customers should know: UBER loves to advertise that it is a good deal for the driver, and claim that their fee to the driver is 20% of the fare. This is not true. It is frequently over 50% of the fare. The average UBER deduction is more than 33% of the fare you pay. They recently invented a $2.10 "safe driver fee" which is nothing more than a way to manipulate the calculation to expand their percentage at the expense of the drivers. UBER is an opportunity really only appropriate for people desperate for money. I am a full time driver. I gross $12.14 per hour before I deduct for gasoline, which runs 13% of my gross, which brings it to $10.56 per hour. I am also putting 1,056 miles on my car per week, so I should really deduct depreciation on my car, since 50,000+ UBER miles a year will make my car worth almost nothing over a period of a couple years. Bottom line: you can make slightly more than minimum wage driving for UBER. Most UBER drivers also drive for Lyft, which does take an honest 20%. Obviously we all wish customers would use Lyft instead of UBER. Unfortunately UBER is much more popular in Indianapolis at this time. read more
