I recently was in the disconcerting position of being without a vehicle of my own to drive, ( I still am) , so luckily , without too many what I consider to be ' unnecessary pre reqs', to wit ; minimal hassle, I was surprisingly able to get thru the process of requesting a 'Lyft', not once, but TWICE on this ONE particular day! The first trip was to a pre-scheduled doctor's appointment I had at her office in the city and, as usual, it's always 'imparative' I be 'timely'. Yes, she actually said that, and well, reason is obvious, I'm chronically late. I find it physically and mentally too challenging most days to leave the confines of my tiny world in my apartment, ah yes, jus me and the great world wide web. I no longer have what one would consider as having much of a 'concept of time'.. is all.. PTSD and too much of it . In any case I had a lovely chat with James, the gentleman that was my initial Lyft driver that day and I found the ride to be pleasant , most things are not if I'm about, but this is a review after all and he scores nicely across the board to include the cleanliness of his vehicle. The same I myself cannot be acccused of having, I felt safe enuf and that's a point. My next Lyft accommodation arrived later at Penn Station. Champagne was a rather ' breath of fresh air' after the dreaded monthly trip to my doctors office , she arrived within 2 minutes of calling for a car and she was waiting as I walked out the door, I remember being surprised at her quick arrival and her cheerful greeting was genuine and welcomed. She struck me as a lady taking care of business and that is after all, what ladies do best , I enjoyed our easy convo on the way back to my apt as we lamented to Lauren Hill about our family. 1.) Live person for Customer Service (priority) 2.) Chatbox scam tries to charge (or get Payment Info) for their so-called "services" 3.) I had technical issues. After annoying chatbox with "Pearl" of CONSTANTLY repeating the platform issue, "she" or it transfered me Without Permission to another website call Just Answer - Another Scammer. 5.) SHORT/BRIEF Tech complaint cost me the UNAUTHORIZED charges of a total of $70.00! NO SERVICES RENDERED!! 6.) More than 50% drivers indy experience do Not Speak English. Frustrating, as I am NOT United Nations Interpreter. 7.) Late time arrival causing problems with doctor appointments giving myself an extra 20 minutes to schedule a ride to be on time. The day before, I scheduled a ride on my app at 12:42 p.m. One driver was stuck on 15 min arrival to my place. Another driblver picked me up. Because of his expeditious and GOOD driving, I TRIED to give him a 25% customer tip (type $ amount tip). Which leads me to ... 5.) The appointment needs Much Improvement with their platform. I received this text from Lyft: FRANKLYN is here - look for the gray Kia Forte (4WTC74). Driver picked me up from IND Airport. He was talking on his phone in a foreign language. He drove 20 yards, pulled over and began typing on his phone. He handed me the phone but it looked like Spanish. He called over a young man who translated my driver had cancelled the ride. I exited the car and had to call for another rid. The young man then entered the car and the driver drove off?! I discovered this also happened to a friend that also had a ride cancellation after their ride was confirme. Evidently this has happened to a number of Lyft customers? read more

This individual had my apartment number, phone number, and advance notification of the ride and still didn't manage to pick me up. He didn't even come to my building, he simply turned into the complex then after two minutes drove away. Ridiculous and Lyft will not get my business. That was pitiful! read more

Every single ride I got during my week stay was horrible. App says 5 mins away and driver does circles in same spot for 15 mins and doesn't move. Drivers all played loud music I couldn't stand and didn't ask once if I was ok w it. Every car smelt like bug spray. Only one ethnicity drove here. Must be a culture thing. I had heard prices had gone up. I used lyft frequently. I had noticed fewer drivers since spring but not a huge price increase. Now I look to see if they have any drivers in the area bf I choose my transportation options, the wait time can be crazy. A avg charge to Broad Ripple is $25, this friday it was $50. Still cheaper than what a cab would be, if they even still exist. A driver told me there were more drivers on Sat, so I just checked, $20. The drivers have been great. I guess it's simple supply and demand, but I hope the price can stabilize. read more

I had a very bad experience today with a Lyft ride. I would advise people not to use them. My driver (Greg) arrived on the opposite side of the Indiana Government Center building. He called me. I told him I was a block away and that I was on the way to his car. I asked him to honk his horn when he saw me because I may not see him in the bright sunlight. He agreed. When I got to his location, he was gone! He left a visually impaired person stranded downtown. I attempted to call him back on the number he'd called me. I kept getting the message that the Lyft driver was busy. When trying to contact the company, I realized they do not have a phone number. You have to text in a chat message. After 10 minutes, I realized they weren't replying. I was very nervous being downtown alone and stranded. After I found a relative to come get me, and I got home ... I realized they'd charged me a $5 fee as if I'd cancelled the ride. Be careful and do not let companies take advantage of you!!! read more

WARNING - likely a data breach with credit card info at LYFT. I noticed several charges hitting my credit card regarding rides I did not take. I tried to phone Lyft and was redirected online. After 3 days a multiple requests, I still have not received a response. I highly suspect a data breach or an inside job of compromising personal credit card data. Their lack of response and care concerns me and thUS I AM deleting the app and exclusively using Uber. You can further validate my experience through your own attempts to contact them for support and service. AVOID LYFT - 1. After having issues getting to the airport I've decided to stop using Lyft. The first time the driver cancelled after I entered the destination address. Luckily I was early enough to get an Uber and make the flight. The second time the driver was a minute away from my house. He called me for a split second and hung up. This was after I had waited 11 minutes for him to get to my location. I called back and he didn't pick up. The app said that the driver had already picked me up and the driver had turned around and headed in the opposite direction. I think the driver was trying to make more money off of me. Infuriated, I cancelled the ride and called for an uber that was 5 minutes away. I didn't make the flight and am writing this from the airport food court. Thankfully American Airlines waived the fee for the reservation change. read more

I've used both Uber and Lyft many times, you can talk to Lyft if there are issues, you can even tweet them and they will reply. with Uber nothing like that. I have used Lyft a lot. Its cheap and the drivers are super nice. they will either take the GPS route, the fast way they know or let you dictate where you want. Always nice and clean and a great conversation. A++ read more

I've heard a lot of people praising Lyft over Uber so tonight decided to try it. Drivers to my destination and back were both very good however I wasn't paying attention when requesting my Lyft home bc no way I would have expected this however while it was a $15 ride there, it was a $40 ride home! Once I got home and saw this I was upset. At myself for not noticing before bc I should have paid more attention and at them for charging me so much. I looked up an Uber from there to my house when I realized this and it only would have been $13 something. read more

I have been using Uber a lot more lately. I feel like I have had a lot of glitchy issues with the app, and I have had a driver ask for my personal info to "cut out the middle man" and then get upset when I declined. I used to really like lyft, but.... I dont know now. their customer service could be better. read more

Today, I dropped my car off at my mechanic's and ordered a Lyft to bring me home. Initially, the driver was a little brusque. Usually, an Uber or Lyft driver introduces themselves and asks if I am comfortable - would I like to listen to music. Michael did none of that. I did ask him to roll up the windows which he did - halfway and I was uncomfortable. When he was driving on the highway (465 where the speed limit is 55), Michael hit 73. Now I am being blown around and feel unsafe that he is driving well over the speed limit and changing lanes to pass. As we were closer to my destination (my home), Google Maps took him in the wrong direction. I told him so. He asked me to repeat myself since the wind made it hard to hear. I did. He said he was following Google Maps and I reiterated that it was the wrong way. By now I was a little impatient. Michael began to yell at me. "Don't disrespect me, this is my truck and you don't disrespect me in my truck!" He pulled into the Staybridge Hotel parking lot and sat. I pointed out the address on their sign was in the 106th block and my address is in the 103rd block. He continued to yell at me and finally, told me to direct him. I should have left the ride when he stopped in the parking lot. I didn't. He kept asking me left or right and I pointed out that we were going around round-a-bouts. I was telling him 2nd exit heading south (he said he didn't do north and south). Michael became verbally abusive. He asked if I was married and said that my husband must hate me. He called me a f***** b***** several times and finally swerved the truck to the side of the road and ordered out of the truck while he shouted, "F***** C****". While this story should be over, it isn't. Michael passed me and turned north on the next street. He waited there (it's a dead end). He then drove to the corner and watched me walk up my driveway and into my house. I called Lyft and the police. Threatening a woman isn't a big crime, unfortunately. read more

This was my first experience with Lyft ride share and it was fantastic! I needed a ride a short 5 blocks in downtown from a wedding back to my hotel in the winter frigid weather. I downloaded the Lyft app after I saw someone mention it on a bar review here on Yelp. You sign in with facebook and enter a credit card. No cash needed. When I requested a ride it was there within a few minutes and I received a text that our driver Rychard was there and driving a black Prius. We entered the car and were greeted with a fist bump and some appreciative amusement at the mirror balls on the dash and hanging from the roof light. My boyfriend and I had a great conversation with Rychard on the ride back to our hotel. Quick fist bump and we were hopping out and into our hotel. I received a message alert on my phone to rate and pay the driver. The recommended "donation" was $4. I couldn't get into a cab in Indy for that little! You have the option of adding a tip and I was emailed a receipt. I wish I had gotten a Lyft to the wedding instead of walking the skywalk and then a 2 block walk outside. I will definitely use LYft again when back in Indy. I couldn't be more impressed. read more

I can't tell you how much better Lyft's service is than Uber. Lfyt drivers seem to be more courteous and punctual. Uber for a while had an advantage in units on the street, but It no longer does. I know for sure that Uber is more expensive than Lyft and I have been a victim of Uber's surge pricing (up to 10 times the regular price!) Lyft too has an accelerated pricing schedule during peak times, but is limited to 2.5 times I think (usually less). This keeps driver's on the roads at peak times. Overall Lyft has better service, lower prices and an easier app to use. Why would you pay more for Uber's inferior service? read more

I used to enjoy using Lyft often and would tip well. Since I reported a dangerous driver (bad enough I wanted to get out of the car on a dark road and later called him in to local law enforcement with valid reason), I cannot get a ride. I've been stranded multiple times where drivers accept and then cancel a few minutes later. I was 'compensated' for my bad experience with a $20 credit which went to a $6 ride but have since to get anyone to pick me up. I work second shift and sometimes need late night assistance. I'll get used to walking and stop promoting this company. read more

Lyft is fantastic! Living on the near east side so close to Mass Ave, I never thought it would be so difficult to get a cab. We swore off cabs the night it took two hours for one to show up at our house. We had already given up and left! With Lyft, I can see how many drivers are out, how many are nearby, and how long it would take them to get to my house. With 2 drivers living walking distance from me, it makes planning my Friday and Saturday nights much easier! Also, everything is through the app, including the payment. As soon as the ride is finished, they "end the ride" on the app, your phone vibrates, and you're prompted to give them a rating and finalize their suggested payment. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to tip extra because not only is it a great experience, it's relatively cheap! read more

I used Lyft for the first and last time on March 4, 2019. I had always used Uber and never had a problem with them. But I had heard that Lyft was cheaper than Uber and also how much better Lyft was than Uber as well. WRONG! Joy (the driver) did not meet me where she was suppose to pick me up at. Which I had to walk across the street to get to her. Then she overcharged me $2.59. And now Lyft (on Facebook messenger) is saying that they (Lyft) are going to be refunding the $2.59. But that I still have to pay $5.55 for a successful ride. That is total bs! The ride was not successful at all in my opinion! So Lyft can take their company and shove it up their a-- sideways! I recently took a short Lyft ride in which the engine was running badly and the cabin quickly filled with exhaust odor, making me sick. When I reported this unsafe incident to Lyft on the phone, the agent refused to give me a full refund nor a full credit, saying he "didn't have the tools." I am cancelling my Lyft account since they show such callous disregard for the health of their riders. read more

Unfortunately, Lyft has become completely unreliable as a transportation option. The drivers accept and then cancel my ride more often than not, leaving me stranded to call friends, family members, or an alternate service to come to my assistance. I used to recommend Lyft to everyone but multiple incidents of getting stuck out in the cold, in the middle of the night have turned me off to using their drivers. I'm tired of the hassle of waking someone up to get me home because I either can't get a driver or would have to wait a ridiculous amount of time for a pick up after a late night shift. I don't what's changed over the past year but the quality of service has gone from awesome to awful and it's time to make the switch to Uber. read more

I am in disbelief on how terribly this company is run. I was given a card that said I could get a free $20 ride for my first ride so I used that promo code. Later on I was texted that I had 3 free $15 rides, so I got another ride that night. I was charged for both of those rides and when I filed a complaint I didn't get a response for days (I've dealt with uber a lot and they've never taken more than 12 hours to respond no matter day or time). When they finally did respond, the were 100% unhelpful by claiming that my free $20 ride offer was expired (despite no expiration date on the card) and that those 3 $15 rides were actually $5 per ride which was completely deceptive because what the text literally said was "we've added 3 free ($15) rides to your account". I know I deserve my money back but this company refuses to even communicate with me. Both my friend and I had to blow up their facebook page to get their attention at all and still all I've gotten is a vague "we'll look into it and get back to you" and of course no one has gotten back to me. It has now been a week. This company is a joke and deserves to go out of business, please don't do yourself the disservice of using them. read more
