Okay, so this is a review for the second uber driver, not the first. The first Uber driver (Louis I think his name was?) he was absolutely great! Fantastic! Kept the atmosphere comfortable and asked me and my mom some general questions, joked a little. Overall this man proved to me that Uber is not a horror story waiting to happen. Thank you Louis for being so nice and an amazing person! The second guy, (Jeremy was his name maybe?) He was subpar, unprofessional, was gruff and did not speak for the majority of the ride. Complained about not knowing how to get to my destination (I needed to be at class on my college campus which is in a certain building.) He demanded to know the address of the building (I could only remember the address for campus center) so that's where he took me. He then drove my mom home, in complete silence and started complaining about everything once he arrived at her destination. Maybe he was just having a bad day? I don't know. After arriving at the airport, I confirmed an Uber pickup in 5 minutes...then it moved to 8 minutes, and then after 5 minutes, the pickup time move to 15 minutes. I attempted to contact uber and I can only get AI responses instead of someone who can assist me and shit down who ever is using my bank card information. They confirm that someone has a second account with my bank card and it's not the account I use but they refuse to give me any information to resolve my complaint. read more

Driver couldn't find main entrance to Gainbridge Fieldhouse!!!! Spoke to him 4-5 times to direct him without success. Walked up and down in front of Gainbridge without ever seeing him. So, engine light came on, needed a ride to my doctor, thought I would try Uber. Went to the site, set up a ride for a specific time, ,driver shows up in my driveway. I explained the pick up was 2 hours from then, she said she cancelled the ride with no charge. I went back on app, set up a ride again for the specific time several hours from then, and again the app sent a driver. I sent that driver a message and said the pick up time was 1 pm, not now. So, he cancelled. He did not leave the staging lot so after 5 min I called him to ask if he was picking me up. He hung up on me and cancelled the trip. I attempted to report him to Uber but have given up after 4 unsuccessful interactions with Uber support - a complete waste of my time. It appears that when a driver cancels a trip that Uber does not keep a record of that interaction between a driver and a rider. Second time using uber eats and will not use them again! The driver was over an hour late, we had missing items, AND she completely ignored directions given via text and over the phone. Even lied saying she was in our apartment complex, parked in front of the office when in fact she was still on the highway. We had to walk a mile, then wait in the rain and walk back with our food! The first time was about as bad. We had missing items, and the driver had us meet him at another complex because he was dropping two orders within a mile of each other. Just don't use this service. Further more, going into the uber rideshare service: don't use this either, at least not in Indy. First off- no customer service, they never respond and you will never speak to anyone on the phone. Secondly- the foreign drivers for uber are SCARY. Comparable to taxi drivers in Las Vegas, only multiply the speed limit by 4. Third: I have had uber drivers "get lost" with me giving them proper directions and I have been charged for the ride. They will purposely stray from the course, in order to compromise your trip and get more money out of you, they assume because you are in their car you dont know the city or know where you are going. I have also been purposely made late for work, had drivers drop my ride in the middle of giving me a ride, had to walk blocks or miles to meet drivers who were lost or just not willing to show up and had drivers show up that were not my driver. I have also had drivers argue with me that my destination was incorrect and drop me off miles from where I was supposed to be dropped off. Fourth, if you compare the rates to lyft, it costs more. Last- lyft is just a better service in Indy. They offer promos, their drivers stay the course, there is real customer service and their drivers are properly vetted. They are also polite, professional and their navigational service seems to be on point. I have actually had lyft drivers forgo their navigation system because they knew shorter routes and could save me $$. Lyft is very customer based, so if you are in nap town and need a rideshare, get a lyft. Not an uber. read more

I assume the bad reviews here are frustrated cab drivers? Uber is by far the best thing that happened to transportation possibilities in Indianapolis. I use Uber quite a bit and I have always been happy with my experience. Even the worst Uber car was better than your typical Indy cab. Of course there might be bad drivers - but you have the possibility to rate them! So there is a pretty strong incentive for Uber drivers to behave decently. And most of the ones I got were friendly, polite and had a well maintained and clean car. And yes, Uber does not run meters. They run their app - and you get a summary with the exact route and the exact calculation of the fare at the end of your trip. So if there was something fishy, you actually get proof of it and I am sure Uber will take care of you. But honestly I never had to complain as all of my 20+ rides were great. read more

Was in Indy for the July 4th weekend and managed to take Uber 4 times. 2 rides were completely uneventful. That's what exactly you want in a ride service. 1 ride went fine, but the car smelled STRONGLY of cigarette smoke. 1 ride was comically awful. The driver couldn't find us, but when he did, showed up in a smelly, older Dodge Caravan with heavily stained seats and upholstery. We were about halfway through our ride when I noticed that the bag next to the driver contained empty beer cans (I note the driver did not seem intoxicated, but disconcerting nonetheless and we got to our destination safely). I complained to Uber about the last ride and was sent the same form e-mail by two separate people. There's no way that this vehicle should have passed Uber's inspection, but I was told by two other Uber drivers that the company doesn't do background checks (obv. I cannot confirm). I've used Uber several times, and its awful! There is no customer service to speak of, if you send an email expect to wait for a reply for days if you get one at all. I got a ride from one guy without a shirt on and the back seat trashed. Another ride I got he took us 3 miles the wrong way pulled a uturn that was not legal and did not care. First time riding Uber today. Rode twice to and from a brewery event. Great service and good clean cars. The first driver didn't seem to speak English very well so that was a little hard to deal with. Plus, our event was in the fairgrounds and he didn't seem to know that he could drop us off without paying to park so we got out on the street and walked in. No biggie. On the ride home, the first driver canceled on us for the same reason. The second one, however, was great! We were lucky he was dropping off someone for the Fuel game so it was an immediate pickup. He was so friendly! I would love for him to be our driver every time! He seems to really know Indy so it was nice that he wasn't necessarily a slave to his GPS. Uber service in Bloomington is great; no complaints about arrival time, or drivers. However, this morning I had to use an Uber because of car issues and because the temperatures were in the negatives, Uber had a message stating that the rates are increased- but it didn't say by how much; it only quoted the "typical" $9-$11. Well, the driver took me from my house to work which was 2.7 miles and the cost was $23.94. Yep, that's right... almost 24 dollars for a 2.7 mile ride. I am extremely disappointed. If they're going to jack up the rates due to weather, then they should let you know that it's going to be more than double the rate quoted. read more

I have regularly used Uber for the last year and up until recently, I have only had rave reviews for the service, but I have been extremely disappointed by my last few rides. I regularly give my friends my promo code, which has allowed me to earn many free or significantly discounted rides. This past week I gave my friend my promo code for $30 off her first ride. We were going from Broad Ripple to Fountain Square, which is about an 8 mile trip. But after the ride, my friend received her trip summary and bill via email. It was listed at 14 miles long and a $65 trip. She was shocked because I told her the $30 code would cover our ride down. After looking at the trip summary, I realized it must have been a GPS glitch, because our ride was only 20 minutes and definitely not 14 miles long. I told her to get in touch with Uber and explain the situation, so that Uber, a company that I have supported since its launch in Indianapolis, could amend the situation. There was no doubt in my mind that this would be resolved. Turns out I was wrong. There is no way to speak with someone over the phone at Uber. So email was the only option of communication. The representative gave her a firm and resounding no, when she asked if they would be able to reimburse her for the miscalculation. She explained there was no possible way that the ride could have been 14 miles, but instead of looking into the situation, the representative explained that the cost and mileage were correct and that there was nothing they could do for her. This is not customer service. And if a company has customer service that is this poor and uncompromising, it is a company that I will not support. Until Uber can figure out a way to treat their customers like people, I will not be supporting their business. read more

A disclaimer: I was visiting for the Indy 500, and typically use Uber in LA or NYC. I give Uber two stars here only because we used it quite a few times during our trip, and on several occasions had very professional drivers. There is one experience, however, that really stands out, and I think Uber should be aware of this. My friend booked Uber on his phone, so I didn't have the option to leave a review immediately following our trip. On a trip from the downtown area, our driver was either on drugs or was simply incapable of proper human communication. He didn't respond to several of our questions, and only later chimed into the conversation to tell us that he had a gun. This is terrifying. This is the first time I have felt unsafe using Uber. But telling your passengers you own a gun? Really? Completely inappropriate. read more
