Our annual layover in Texas after vacationing in Puerto Vallarta found us needing a ride from DFW to our hotel (Courtyard Marriott Grapevine). PICK UP: When summoning your car at DFW, I'd suggest waiting on the middle island outside of baggage claim. You're required to select your terminal then the app will give you a GPS pinpoint of where to wait, though pick up seemed to be all over the place as some cars picked up from the middle island but ours came to the main curb outside of baggage claim. Ride share signage is very poor here, surprisingly. The lady who picked us up didn't help us with our bags at all, though she was nice and got us to our hotel safely. DROP OFF: A friendly guy named Joshua picked up up at our hotel. Unlike many drivers, he got out of his car and assisted us with loading our luggage. He was friendly, conversational and professional the whole way to the airport. When we arrived, he again got out of his car and assisted us with each bag. You can bet I gave him a nice tip! COST: Each run cost us $15 for a four mile trip. OVERALL: So far, so good in the Lone Star State! read more

I'm an Uber driver, and at this point it honestly feels like we're being taken advantage of with no real support or accountability. First off, trying to reach customer service is a nightmare. UBER is a scam in the way that they make it totally impossible for a person to talk to a live person and/or navigate through the app(s) to cancel the whole membership. Somehow I ended up with a monthly subscription for UBER that I do not use. The last time I used UBER was for the UBER Eats, but they kept screwing me over so I quit using them over a year ago. Since January, I have been trying to cancel this subscription that I never wanted since I do not use them. When you call, (if you even find a number) it is a recording telling you to go to the app. But the app does not help you cancel the subscription. I find myself going in circles trying to figure out how to cancel these charges that I keep getting for a service I am not using! I finally went through my credit card company to try to get this stopped, but UBER has made it so they cannot cancel the subscription for me, BUT, they can put a block on the recurring payment. Hopefully UBER will reach out so I can finally talk to someone to get this resolved. Ok, I have given Uber many chances and they never fail to disappoint. I have lost around $200.00,for no refunded services I never received, and the ride set up is always iffy. They are not interested in following laws. Small Children are riding in their cars without safety seats. They refuse to take steps to remedy the situation. They tell us drivers that we can't break the law (I wouldn't anyway), but they will not give us our cancellation fees when we respond to a call and discover a small child without a safety seat. Parents constantly say that they have no problem with other Uber drivers just me. One parent told me yesterday that she takes an Uber ride every single day with her small son with no car seat and demanded that I give her a ride and I refused and she was very angry. When I told Uber they said, we will take action to make sure that she doesn't ride with you again. But they denied me the cancellation fee and I just wasted time and gas and they fixed it so that I can't talk to anyone to try to get the fee and it's too much work too because they don't give you much anyway. This evening my son and I had the most awful urber experience with the driver pictured below Leopoldo. He was very rude, unprofessional, drove aggressively and threatened my son. He missed his turn not paying attention to the gps and blamed it on us. Then he started yelling and calling my son a monkey. He also said you black people, and called him a niggah and threatened him. When my son got out of the car he got out and told my son I'm going to show you something and reached for something and kept it behind his back threatening and following my son halfway to his door still calling him a niggah, a monkey and making the statement you black people. This could have honestly gone wrong in so many ways and with a bad ending or outcome but my son chose to just walk off. Worst service ever! Uber Eats and their delivery drivers, Melissa and Jinghua, and their customer service rep Mark... First, Melissa picked up our $50+ order, then skipped out on delivering the order. (The restaurant has her on camera picking it up) Second, Jinghua was sent for the order, then got to the restaurant, where they told him the food was ALREADY picked up by Melissa Instead of contacting Uber, he proceeded to drive to the end of my block and marked it as delivered! When I called Jinghua, he said "Oh UBER is bad." This was after he gave me the run around and told me that the first driver picked it up. He told me he couldn't cancel the order because he wouldn't get paid. So he marked it as delivered instead. Tell me...if I don't get my order, why should he get paid for DELIVERING my order that he DID NOT deliver! Lastly, Mark (Customer Service Rep") who refused to help at all, saying, "That's not Uber Eats problem, because you ordered through the restaurant's website." It didn't matter that their driver picked it up. Mark also refused to give me a reference number for our phone call. His reasons were, "We don't have a reference number for this call." Then later said, "It's against company policy to give out the reference number." It was clearly stated that all calls will be recorded for training purposes. When I asked for my call to be escalated to a supervisor, I was told I would have to wait for a call back from Uber in 1-2 hours. Still waiting on that call. Thankfully, Capriotti's sandwich shop in Flower Mound Texas was super helpful! They know customer service and made things right, even though it was an Uber Eats problem, aka Melissa's (she also showed the order confirmation when she picked up the order). I have had two food orders marked delivered but were not. Two different locations and times of day. The delivery drivers do not speak English and cannot read directions, although I am very specific and detailed. Of the deliveries that I have been able to locate, they are never in the right location, and I have to hunt for them. The drivers are either food thieves or to illiterate to read and drop food off wherever. If they cannot read directions, Uber needs to do better in the screening process before letting random people handle food. read more

Uber sucks. My email got hacked--my fault. But when I noticed they activated an Uber account, I tried many things to fix it. I tried to deactivate the account. But because it was on the hacker's phone he just reactivated it. If they had asked to validate (via email) the reactivation, he would not be able to get back in. I tried removing my credit card. But they won't let you do that. I tried to contact customer support and Just automated messages came back. I kept asking them to delete the account and nobody responded. So eventually, the hacker used my Uber account around Paris France and it charged to my credit card. I had to cancel the card because UBER SUCKS! Now I am strictly a LYFT user. read more

NON-existent customer service. Do NOT reserve ahead of time - it is just a hassle. A technical glitch prevented our driver from being able to find our address to take us home from the airport. We had to cancel the trip because of this glitch but Uber still charges you and there is no mechanism to reach customer service. The app has a "Help" section but there is only an infinite circuitous loop of the app telling you why you got charged a cancellation fee then asking if it can help you with something else. Clicking yes takes you back one page and so does no. There is no chat or phone option for customer service. I found one number by searching Google but a representative told me that she could not help me and then hung up on me after I calmly and very civilly uttered only a couple of words. Just like in NEW YORK and the way they were stealing from their drivers and got sued... It has come to DALLAS. Lyft even deactivated me after they gave me a lower amount then they promised and i asked them if they reimbursed the rider and they told me no. So they just kept everything. I kept bugging them to give me the correct fare and they sure did deactivate me after i made them say those words. Now to the review. Uber was decent last year from september 2022 when i first started to the end of february 2023. I was making more than $25hr. I was a diamond driver which really meant nothing because their were no benefits to keep it for a long term, i was just trying to get the $300 incentive and thats all. All of a sudden i was having issues getting trips and lower pay amounts on my rides and it was getting worse and worse through the rest of 2023. My cancel rate sky rocketed due to uber forcing scam rides on my app back to back trying to force me to not accept the good trips they offered me right before those and i accidentally click them and have to cancel and more scam rides pop up. My acceptance rate is 1% now! because uber does not want to pay me anything and i will not drive 30 minutes for no $5, i do have evidence of all this. If the app catches you making to much money they literally cut you off to cap you at a certain hourly rate that uber wants you to be at IF they allow you to get rides in the first place. They also track your main locations you will be at like your home or relatives or friends and try to deter you from resting there. They will give you a decent paying trip, not good but its something and it will be over 40 min away to get you out that area so you wont quit and keep driving for them and the scam rides continue because they know you want to go home. Yes they also track when you normally start and quit for the day. If you dont take the scam rides then they for sure will not give you anything for resting or wasting your life trying to get a decent trip around dallas. I remember i could start at any time and get rides nearby. I would start at around 9am to avoid traffic and end around 2-3pm to again avoid traffic it was the best thing ever. But now i don't get any rides at those times and i can only drive after 5pm when their is plenty of traffic. The only rides they also want to give me is 1 hour away and where their might be traffic, yes uber knows all the roads and they push you to undesirable locations. Ever since uber introduced their new map it was all over for making money. This started around when the state fair of texas opened in 2023. They just kept decreasing the amounts the drivers get and now its better if you work at mcdonalds because they want to pay less than minimum wage. You do not get payed any more for bad weather or traffic knowing that rides will take longer. Their system is so corrupt now if you have any issues with needing reimbursements, the support teams have been instructed to put you off till they can say "its been so long since this happened we cant help you anymore" meaning they just stole your money, they will keep saying this is a issue the special teams must take on and they never respond. Support when i first started was fast and easy they immediately fixed the issue, not anymore. You literally have to wait from 6 hours to a week for a reply and sometimes they do not reply, you cant even call them anymore. I guess new drivers get good pay and people with evs also. But after a short time when they MAKE YOU BELIEVE this can be done full time, they just do you dirty because they are looking for gullible people that will accept all their low paying rides so they can profit more while the drivers suffer and their car wastes away. Uber if you see this all you have to do is pay us $5 for 10 minutes of driving from pick up to drop off. So if its 20 minutes of driving thats $10. Im ok with $30 for an hour drive, not hourly rate but for a ride that will take an hour, then you can add surges and other incentives on top of that. But you want to give us $15-$20 now for long rides away from any potential surges on our app because everyones app surges are different which is not FAIR PRACTICES and is DISCRIMINATION. But yeah uber might be this way at this time because they are getting sued and may get better next year? But we will have to see. read more

I was a rider today with the Uber ride share. My driver's name was Khan. I have his license plate number and his phone number to identify him other than only his name. The ride was ordered by my service advisor from Avondale in Grapevine. This is not my first uber ride from the dealership to home, which is a 23 minute ride to Dallas. The driver was given his route by the google (I'm guessing). However it was not the quickest route and took him about 1 mile out of the way. I immediately let him know that he was headed in the opposite direction. Usually we take 114 to Dallas and he was headed in the other direction to Ft. Worth. Ultimately he got back to the route by crossing over a bridge and making a U turn, and brought him RIGHT BACK to the route, as I was expecting him to be on. He kept defending his choice and my only response was that he was going way out of the way (3:30 during heavy afternoon traffic) and that I needed to get home as I have animals to tend to. I stopped talking about it bec I was NEVER going to be right. His car was dirty, it just felt DIRTY. He was nice enough. Then I looked down in my lap and realized I still had the keys to my vehicle which I had just dropped off at the dealership for repair. I communicated to him that I needed him to take me back to the dealership which seemed to be a problem, unless I contacted Uber and directed the ride to be changed via the app, which seemed weird. Anyway, I called the person that ordered the ride and asked him to redirect me (via uber) to return to the beginning of where I was picked up. During my conversation, Khan kept talking to me and telling me what to do which was very hard to hear him and hear my advisor on the phone. It wasn't necessary for him to interrupt me while I was on the phone, trying to getting the situation handled. My advisor knew what he needed to do. It was awkward being on the phone and having Khan speak to me at the same time, he was just too loud in that small car. I expressed to Khan that I couldn't hear his instructions while on the phone trying to talk to someone about the situation. To note, we were only about 10 minutes into the ride when I realized I needed Khan to take me back to Avondale. Just about when we were turning into my destination, Khan proceeded to admonish me severely saying that I was yelling and screaming at him during the return trip to where he picked me up and that is not how he shd be treated. That was simply not true! So I didn't want to get into a confrontation, but I did tell him that he was interrupting my phone conversation and it was difficult to hear him at the same time as I was talking to someone else. I'm not sure if it was a culture thing with him or what. All I did was tell him I needed to go back and he seemed to have an issue with that unless I went through the Uber app to do so. First of all, I didn't order the ride, so THAT was not possible. That's why I called the person that ordered the ride so he could handle it. When he pulled into the dealership, all the while lecturing me, I asked him to "please stop talking to me". I literally had to ask him THREE separate times, bec he was INTENT ON MAKING ME WRONG for just being a customer. Initially when I told him he was going in the wrong direction, he told me he was doing nothing wrong and that I would not be charged extra, but the thing is, I was not paying for this ride share, so that was not even a concern. While I was on the phone, I told my advisor that my uber driver was making me feel very uncomfortable + I also felt like he was not driving in a safe manner, riding people too close on a 3 lane highway, as it was very congested, having to change lanes quickly (not using a blinker) and then having to brake quickly to squeeze in between cars. When Khan finally stopped the car, all I could think of was I wanted to GET OUT AS FAST AS I COULD, bec I didn't need a sermon about something I was not doing. Again, not sure if it was a man vs. woman thing or a culture thing between a white woman and a male (non white/not black) person. His behavior was inappropriate and uber needs to be alerted of how he treated me. It was unacceptable and very unprofessional. I have had a rider 4.93 rating for 2 years now. I am always on time, I tip well, and as a professional, I am courteous to the driver. It was explained to me that one driver can not like you for some reason. Really? ONE driver that is having a bad day can ruin my rating?
