Had a really bad experience with Uber. Driver never called or showed up after waiting for him the entire time outside. Saw a charge for the trip and I never even got into the car. My trip was going to cost me $28, but got charged $10, which is obviously not to the destination I entered and Uber will not issue me a refund stating that the trip was made. So, the impression that I get is Uber has no control or accountability over their drivers and all the service is for is to have a direct draw on the credit card on the account to draw from without rendering the services. Definitely done with Uber. I don't trust them. read more

To "Uber" is the new verb in Baltimore when it comes to getting from Point A to point B! No more waiting outside, in the elements, for a cab, which probably smells gross, anyway! You don't have to find and call a cab--just use the app to send for our ride. Get notified when your elegant ride is en route, when it has arrived and receive white glove service to your destination. If you're not "Uber'ing", you're missing out, for sure! read more

I have trusted Uber with taking my kids to school when I was sick and unable to drive; taking my daughter to work; my aunt to her Dr. Appointments. The surge pricing hurts at first but I I'm ok with it. I only use in emergencies anyway. The drivers are personable; I can see where they are on their app the entire time. Uber is terrific. I am old, but I still like to go to evening events in downtown Baltimore. I have used Uber a number of times and it is so dependable and safe. My family has an account so that my teenage granddaughters can order a car if they are at a party which gets out of hand. They have used it. It is the techno equivalent of my generation's mad money. read more

By far my favorite way to get around in the city!!! Who wants to stand around in the elements, sit in a gross yellow cab and always have to have cash on you??? Riding in their luxury vehicles, with customer rated drivers and being able to get a ride from your phone and never have to have cash... It's the only way to ride if you ask me read more

We used Uber boat yesterday, and it was incredible! The boat came to get us at the science center location within 5 minutes and took us took us directly to canton. It was great service and hassle free! I highly recommend it, if they run the special again with the water taxi!!! read more

Love Uber! I have been using Uber for over a year now in both Baltimore and Miami and have always had a great experience. The only issue was this past Saturday I was overcharged but they fixed it right away. If you can't or don't want to drive Uber is the way to go!!! read more

UBER SUCKS!!!!! Very uneducated unprofessional idiots! Deleted Uber! Will only use Lyft don't care how much more expensive it may be ! Thank god for Lyft ! I had two cards on my account and they charged both of them. The one card was charged accordingly however the other card was my company card. Their staff would reply with completely bogus answers that didn't make sense. Like the one time I submitted an inquiry they responded with troubleshooting tips. The other time they told me to check with friends and family first to see if they used my account. I told them several times the information they requested regarding the details of the charges and then they kept saying they were "authorization holds" that made no sense because you don't put a hold on one card and charge the other. The authorization hold occurs on the same card as the charge. The other card, my company card was NEVER authorized to be used AT ALL!!! and shouldn't have been touched. Have been explaining this for over a week as well as the charges showed up as actual charges not holds. And they don't seem to get it! read more

Uber X is a wonderful concept! It takes me an average 3 minutes to get my ride, nice driver, clean car, much more affordable rates than taxi cabs, I get to rate the driver and give feedback on my trip, etc. I don't know about you guys but I'm loving it and I will probably be using this service for a long time. Last time I got picked up I was drunk but the driver was so nice he didn't make me feel tense, he drove me home safely AND kindly retuned my Sony Xperia cellphone the next morning after finding it on the rear seat! I have used Uber since it first came to Baltimore, generally with no issues but a few sketchy drivers along the way. Yesterday (the day after Halloween) I took a $5.79 ride to a friend's house at 10am on a Sunday before the Ravens game. A few hours later I look at my email and notice my "fare has been updated" to $200.00! I thought, this must be a mistake, so I emailed uber inquiring what the charge was all about. Apparently my driver charged me a $200.00 cleaning fee for a mess that I did not make... much more likely it happened on Halloween night before and he forgot to charge that rider. At this point I am emailing back and forth with Uber trying to explain that this was not my mess and asking for a refund but they are being less than helpful. I am a graduate student and $200.00 is a lot of money, this is really disappointing especially since I have been a loyal customer since Day 1 of Uber in Baltimore. I hope I will eventually get a refund. Are we expected to take before and after photos of every car we get into? This is ridiculous. read more

I took a $30 cab ride into Baltimore on Halloween, and based on the recommendation of a friend, tried Uber for the ride back. It turned into a $240 Uber ride home. 49 minutes, 12.56 miles. No meter, nothing to sign when you get out of the car giving you any idea what you're going to pay. I got an email 2 hours later telling me the charge. $240 could've bought a plane ticket. Do not use Uber under any circumstances. It might seem convenient but once you give them your card number they'll charge you whatever they want and you can find out how much a couple hours afterwards. You're basically giving them a blank check. Highly, highly recommend using a different service. read more

So I bought one of the Uber gift cards to get to work from my other job so I wouldn't be late. I only had cash on me at the time so I couldn't do an e-gift card which normally works until last night and it still hasn't shown (different story). But I purchased one at cvs in cash for $25 and when I put it in it kept say invalid. So I emailed them, after getting the run around from 5 different emails I finally get someone. At first it do all this, because clearly it's my app and not a fraudulent gift card. So I finally get what seems to be a manager who tells me it's not activated. I looked at the receipt and oh wait it is. Email them back With the picture of the receipt clearly showing it's activated and they tell me they can't refund the money. Ummm actually you can it's your gift card so I will be talking to a lawyer. read more

I was charged a reasonable rate of $35 from my home in Maryland to Baltimore, an approximate 25 mile drive. For the return trip there were about 8 cars in the vicinity and I waited and waited for a pick up. When I was finally picked up Uber claimed my vehicle was an "SUV" when it was a Lincoln. There was little rush hour traffic and we exited the city in less than 10 minutes. When I arrived home the charge was over $120! I could not believe it. I have complained to uber to no satisfaction. Needless to say I will never use uber again and I HIGHLY recommend you don't as well. read more

If it had not been for the nice driver I had going to my event, then this rating would have been a 0 if that rating existed! This was my first time using Uber and now I see why I hesitated to ever use it. My experience going to my event was decent enough. The driver was nice and helpful since this was my first ride. Attempting to get a ride from the event was a totally different story!!!! I felt like I had stepped into the twilight zone, this could not have been the same company! To my dismay, yes it was! I will never, let me repeat, I will never deal with Uber again unless I'm riding with someone else who is paying but it definitely won't be on my dime!!! If they are associated with the BBB, I'm reporting them for fraud. The driver claimed he could not find me. Why in the hell are you a driver for Uber if you don't know your way around the city??? Really? I was so frustrated because they charged me for a ride that I did not even get. The so-called "cancellation" fee was more than what I paid to get to the event. This company, and this is just my own opinion, is a freaking rip-off! I would never refer them to anyone, not even an enemy! I don't even know how these people are still in business. On Halloween night, my daughter got charged $200 for a 20 minute ride using Uber. She works for a non-profit and. She has little money to spare, and the rates (9 times higher) on this night were outrageous. I am recommending to my business database to never use them. read more

Took my first ride with Uber yesterday from lower downtown to Penn Station. The driver came in under five minutes and knew exactly where he was going. A very speedy affair! I love not having to fumble with cash, worrying about the tip, or dealing with a shady taxi cab meter that's running fast. I'm looking forward to giving UberX a go at some point, especially since the app tracks the actual car coming to get you. No more guesses as to whether the driver will show up. read more

I use uber at least twice a week. I've never had a bad experience until I reached my last two rides. I had an african male who had a chrysler 300. I realized I was gonna have a bad experience when before I even got to the car and the driver opened up the back door automatically. I was surprised cause it has never happen before. He started the trip before I even got in the vehicle. He seemed to get frustrated when I told him my destination and which route to take. I believe I was charged for bad service. When I reached my destination he forced me to get out of the opposite side of the car. Overall it was the worst experience EVER. I started to use lyft instead of uber. At least they have standards for every driver unlike uber read more

I was a regular user of UberX. Like some other reviewers here, suddenly I was slammed with a HUGE $120+ bill. Turns out, I "accidentally" chose UberBlack. Interestingly, my default is ALWAYS UberX. Well, the App is pretty sneaky. If you are not paying attention, the slider conveniently slips to UberBlack. When I contacted customer service they pretty much blamed me for choosing the wrong option. If it were my business, I would take the customer's history into account and allow a one-time courtesy exception and refund or provide credit for at least 50% the price. Loyal users keeps businesses afloat (ever heard of brand loyalty??)-- you want to keep loyal users happy because the market gets competitive when other companies figure out ways to replicate your model or create something better. So as another user mentioned, BEWARE. Because of this, I will try out Lyft and Sidecare to see if it is better. While Uber drivers are great, Uber management seems terrible and I have heard more than once that they do not treat their drivers who are working for them well. Likely founders and management at Uber do not have MBAs... They may go the way of Zipcar and selling their company is likely their exit strategy at this rate. read more
