It's been over a year since the kitchen cabinets were installed. In that time, we've found a few problems with the cabinets that we selected. We contacted UB and we were expecting to either get pushback or suggestions on how to repair them. To our surprise, they came out and looked at the issue, agreed that there were some issues with the cabinet manufacturer's work and they ordered replacements parts at no charge to us. When we selected UB, our motivation was to use a local company. It's proven to be a wise decision because not only did they do a great job with the design and installation, they have warrantied their work above and beyond our expectations. My condo needed its kitchen remodeled. My buddy Bill's guy- who he swore was the best- flaked out totally. So I did some research and found lots of very good reviews for UB Kitchens. I spoke with Joe a little and I was very interested, but then I lost the drive to move forward. Fast forward a year or so and I reconnected with Joe and picked up where we left off. Joe gave lots of very helpful design advice and designed the cabinet layout for my small kitchen, including cabinets to the ceiling and a bench for storage and sitting in wasted space near a window. UB Kitchens Review What a wonderful remodeling experience! I am so thrilled with my new kitchen designed by Joe at UB Kitchens. I was looking to remodel my 80's kitchen and wanted to use a local Austin company. After much research and reading the positive reviews for UB Kitchens, I visited the beautiful North Austin showroom. I met Ellen who was so welcoming and helpful in discussing my project and showing me cabinet styles and hardware. Since I live in south Austin, Ellen introduced me to Joe at the UB South location, who came to see my condo. Joe was so easy to work with and clearly has great design experience. He was easy to contact and I always received a timely response. He listened to my questions and created a plan for a beautiful, open, functional, working kitchen. I love the way he suggested adding a deeper cabinet above the refrigerator(much added storage and easier to reach) and the side panel to make the fridge blend in. He also added matching cabinets above my washer and dryer in the laundry room to add much needed storage. I appreciate Joe helping me choose a deep sink and faucet that would fit my counter and cabinet space. He showed me a variety of countertop options and helped me pick out a style that coordinated perfectly with my white shaker cabinets. He also help me narrow down my flooring choices. I appreciated his personal attention to my project and his great eye for detail. He helped me coordinate all the pieces....including wall paint and trim color and ideas for backsplash tile and grout. He really helped me to pull the entire downstairs together. I am so thrilled with the result! UB gave me a list of service providers that were recommended by previous customers which was so helpful. I was so impressed with the great communication among Joe at UB Kitchens, Jason and Casey at Catalyst Construction and Nathan at GNS Custom Stoneworks, especially since I decided to leave and stay with my family in Maryland during the renovation. All the steps in the process where so well coordinated and my project was completed earlier than scheduled. They were both insanely helpful, knowledgeable and professional and created a beautiful design for us while keeping our budget a priority. The cabinets were installed exactly as scheduled and when a misunderstanding occurred they were so accommodating and did whatever they could to make sure we were happy. I just started the process of looking for kitchen cabinets and actually came across UB Kitchens -Soco - finally a remodeling place that wasn't located in North Austin...and guess what. They have some pretty cool products there....including some super high end cabinets straight out of architectural digest....I try to be pretty green, so was happy to see that UB Kitchens carries a line of cabinets that is totally green...A little more than your cabinets from IKEA, but I don't think they are going to fall apart if I ever have to move them....Store was really cool looking, bunch of different stuff...and they showed me 3 d pictures of my kitchen on a flat screen...The whole concept is really cool...Made something that I thought was going to suck actually pretty fun. In the summer of 2012 I started to do some research on yelp on remodeling my very small kitchen, saw some wonderful reviews about UB Kitchen then I remembered a friend at my work place told me about this company and what a great job they did for him. I got in touch with Joe Hoffer at UB Kitchen South Congress location. Joe was just so wonderful to work with very patient and understanding of my requirements and the cost for my kitchen; he offered great advice on the design of the cabinets as I had no clue as to what remodeling entails. My wish after retiring from my job was to make the kitchen more functional and was hoping to have it done for Thanksgiving 2012 , but had to put it off for 2013. In late Feb 2013 Joe got in touch with me and proceeded with the job, he told me it would take 6 weeks to get the job done which was a little hard for me to take he directed us on the type of granite suitable for our countertops and matching to our color of our cabinets. Hector and his crew came in Monday morning pulled out the old cabinets without any problems, cleaned up their mess followed by Jason Hayes and his crew (contractor) who did a magnificent job including scraping popcorn-ceiling in kitchen, dining and living room, all the electrical and plumbing and did a fantastic job on the intriguing backsplash and lighting especially the under cabinets light and even stayed later to get everything done on time and cleaned up at the end of the day. David Shica and his crew were also great at installing countertop and sink Everything went as planned just as Joe told me,my kitchen is absolutely beautiful and we enjoying working in it. We own two homes: one in South Austin and the other in San Antonio. We just finished a complete renovation of our kitchen in our San Antonio home. Curtis Kishur / UB Kitchens has made the cabinet portion of our current home renovation the easiest, most pleasant part of this project. From the time he first came to our house to help with the cabinets for our guest bath two years ago, Curtis has been patient and helpful. For this current project, he helped us figure out how to maximize cabinet space in the new space we would have in the kitchen after we removed a portion of one wall. He suggested the design of the bank of cabinets we added to a wall that formerly had no cabinets. He made multiple trips to our house. He worked with our contractor to make sure our cabinets were installed in a timely manner. He answers my emails quickly, and always has a solution for any problem I present him. I can't even begin to describe the relief I have working with Curtis. Everything else about this project has been disorganized, haphazard, and disappointing. People don't show up when the project manager says they will (including the project manager), the contractor never shows up (he promised before the work began that he always visits work sites), and no one answers our emails or text messages when we send messages trying to get information about when the mistakes and over-sights will be corrected. Working with Curtis and UB Kitchens has been such a relief by comparison! I'm writing this review on the ATX Yelp site because UB Kitchens also did the cabinets for our total renovation in our ATX home in 2012. We used replaced the cabinets in the kitchen and both bathrooms with UB Kitchen cabinets in this home, and those cabinets still look brand new. Joe was top notch is helping choose the right cabinets for our galley kitchen which presented a space challenge. It took months to decide on exactly what we needed and Joe was prompt, professional and always responded quickly to my numerous inquiries and questions.
