However, I did like the snacks that they served at the concession stand. They had chocolate flavored and sour cream flavored popcorn. You can get half and half in the box. The tickets may be a little bit less expensive but everything here is also more simple. The seats are not very comfortable and the aisles are quite narrow. There is only 1 auto ticket booth and there's not enough manpower at the normal ticket booth, so prepare for some waiting time. That's the same for the convenience store. On busy days they only have max 2 persons helping you and they only sell sweet popcorn. In Hong Kong many animated pictures are dubbed to Chinese and a lot of cinemas show both versions. Here at the Popcorn Mall they normally show only the Chinese version.

And the next thing you know, we are buying tickets to see Ralph Breaks the Internet (WTF?) lol. IFC is a high-end shopping mall in Central, Hong Kong, so this cinema would not be anything less impressive. The tickets were $120 each, it is more expensive than other cinemas in Hong Kong. There is a full wine bar inside the lounging area. The washroom is nice and clean. There is a concession stand selling popular Asian snacks (squid balls, boneless wings, etc.) The best was the sweet caramel popcorn, I can easily eat a large lol. The only con at Palace was the size of the 'big screen', it is quite small. Nonetheless, the leather reclining seats were very comfortable. We picked seats for the very back row in House 1, and there was plenty leg room. Not sure if it's Hollywood + being in the center of HK, but $300HK for 2 people to see The Justice League? Ouch, my wallet -Theater is small so if there's a popular release, it'll be hard to get tickets -Sometimes I feel they only show action films in 3D, making it more expensive. As they also charge for 3D glasses, it's best to bring your own (or keep the ones you bought from them for next time.) Other notes: -If you want a unique, non-western movie snack, they offer cuttlefish balls. -There's also a small bar here, but not sure if you can bring your drink into the theater.

Words that could adequately describe Newport Theatre: Ghetto, rundown, cheap, limited, and small…read more These words might be interpreted negatively, but know this: This was, at one point, my go-to theatre in all of Kowloon. Say what you will about HK's largest working class neighborhood, but this was where I could count on catching a flick without the guilt of paying more. On a surface level, Newport Theatre doesn't have much going for it. The place is tiny, with only two screens and rotating movies that are mainly western and local HK ones every week. From an interior perspective, it needs a gut renovation -- peeling wallpaper, raggedy seats, and subpar facilities. Concessions are also disappointing; much like the theatre's movie variety, it is limited. The fact it's situated in the heart of Mongkok would mean it's absurdly crowded on occasion, which it can be. Go during the school / work hours and the crowd is drastically less of an issue. To get a ticket is relatively easy, just head directly to the window in the front of the theatre where an agent (who likely will not be able to speak great English, so be forewarned) will help you choose assigned seating and available times for the movie showing that evening. Contrary to the look of it, they do accept credit cards (though cash is always recommended). The theatre itself is also small, but not enough to deter me. Screens are not fit for digital projection or IMAX worthy stuff, but it gets the job done. The same bodes for the sound, which is equally important as the picture quality. When the ticket prices range from $50-80 throughout the day, it's certainly not a terrible way to pass the time at all.

Chinese Opera at Ko Shan Theater in Kowloon, Hong Kong…read more.. My friend got us tickets online for about $45 USD. We were quite thrilled to see an authentic performance in Hong Kong! However, I couldn't understand a word. There were no subtitles... haha! My friend translated a complex plot for me. It was full of intrigue and action! The costumes were exquisite! The backdrops were outstanding! The music was wonderful! The singing was excellent! The choreography (which included backflips, splits, martial arts moves, and somersaults) was amazing! The theater is cozy, clean, air conditioned, and has a convenient restroom. The seats were comfortable and our view was clear even though we were in the middle of the fifth row. We arrived and left via taxi which was quite reasonable! I wouldn't mind supporting the arts again!

The seats inside the theatres are marginally roomier and more comfortable. It's still pretty easy to get tickets to your preferred showings due to the out-of-the-way location of Cyberport, but that's one of the draws, right? One thing that they changed from before is that you now have to enter the cinema through the mall -- the doors that lead to the pick-up/drop-off area outside The Arcade have been converted to exit only.
