Whitney is probably one of the least qualified candidates for her position. When I think of a customer service manager, I think of someone who is kind to customers and has far above average customer service skills. While talking to Whitney on a short phone call, she interrupted me at every possible opportunity. She kept trying to talk over me. She was very inflexible and non understanding of a very difficult situation. When I finally go tired of being talked over and interrupted, I did raise my voice and I did utter a swear word out of pure frustration and she took that opportunity to end the conversation rather than trying to reconcile the situation. It felt to me like she was trying to escalate the situation so that I would be angry and she would have an excuse to not deal with me anymore. I would recommend to her boss that she be replaced by someone who better represents the company in a kind and compassionate way. On the other hand, Shane at the Arlington branch was very nice every time I spoke to him, and I think he is doing a great job.

I was a member of Horizon Banking, which I liked, when Washington Federal took them over with the…read morebank collapsing fiasco. Washington Federal has been ok but not great, I would have rated them a 3 star over the years. However, they just changed their online banking system and the problems are horrendous. First, they changed how you accessed your account - instead of the old way with secure logins etc, you now had to login and use your social security number (last 6 digits) as your password. Even after you set up a new password, etc. access to the account doesn't necessarily work and wrong information is in the account as if they are mixing information from several accounts together - again likely to give others access to your account because their phone number goes to your account now. They also say they link any phone number you call in on to the account, whether it is listed as a valid phone number on the account or not - so anyone who has access to that phone and knows basic information about you (like your birth date or last 4 of your social) can get access to your account info. The online phone center has no clue - they just do the simple thing of getting into whatever account and giving you the info about the account, no caring that they didn't properly pull up the correct account nor validate the caller. There are a lot of severe problems with the new online accounts, even a week later, and no end in sight of them being fixed. Time to switch banks and find one that has at least basic security and working software.

Opened account, 5 minutes online. Completed loan app, received response next day. They were only willing to offer $75k. Contacted loan officer to provide additional finance information. Basically was told they don't offer loans in that amount. This is typical of a CU. They make things more difficult than needed and change the rules mid-stream. I've had sim experience with BECU. Additionally, the account that took 5 min to open took 40 min, 3 representatives, and multiple holds, to close, and 10 days to receive your money back via snail mail. I gave 1 star for their dishonest misrepresentation via AI and difficult closing process obviously designed to get you to hang up. Pretty dirty banking policy this day and age.

I didn't want KeyBank to paint the picture that other KeyBank employees treat people the way Dan Emmons does... If it wasn't for Amanda and her amazing customer service skills I had been ready to leave KeyBank entirely after having an account at my home town branch for over 25 years because of the branch manager in Granite Falls Dan Emmons refused on multiple occasions to so much as cancel & reissue a compromised debit card and consequently led to the very center of what became an extensive identity theft case which should have been entirely avoided except for his direct refusal of basic services to a senior citizen.... So needless to say I was ready to leave the KeyBank institution as a whole after all of that especially since to took me having to step in and go up all the way through the ranks to the executive branch just to be able resolve the full extensiveness of that identity theft case which should and could have been entirely if Dan Emmons the granite falls branch manager had so much as simply cancelled and reissued the compromised debit card the first time he was made aware of it.... So I went the 18 miles to a more populated area and another branch office with the intent to completely ready to throw in the towel when I get Amanda at the Smokey point location who not only helped me set up and take care of all my banking needs for my mother but recognized us and called us by name even though it has been quite some time since she worked out of our hometown branch. Amanda was more than awesome!!!! She helped assure me that KeyBank as a whole didn't want their senior customers treated the way my mother had been by Dan Emmons. Amanda and people like her is the only reason I stayed with KeyBank. She even took the time to call back to let me know what the follow up was even though she had no obligation to personally help ensure that things continued to run smoothly.... As sad as I am that the local branch in my own small town has come to a point where seniors don't feel safe to do their banking there it warms the heart to know that employees like Amanda at the Smokey Point branch of KeyBank make that institution still worth doing business with.... I hope that employees like Amanda will help balance out the blot one poor manager is making on what has otherwise been a reliable institution over the many years I have done business with them. I recently relocated for work and now this is the closest branch and the most convenient place for me to go. The experience I had with the staff was easily the worst experience I have ever had and I will no longer be banking with Key because of it. The customer service is terrible from the tellers to the branch manager. I have never felt so unwelcome at a place of business! I left with a very bad taste in my mouth... If you are thinking about banking with Key I would avoid this branch entirely and drive the extra distance to the Mt. Vernon location where the service is immesurably better.

I have banked with Mechanics Bank for over a decade, started in 2015 in California, and saw this location and was eager to come and make a deposit. Customer parking was well marked as was the entrance/exit, though I did need directing to the doors when I left the building. Entering the building, I found the deposit slips and filling out area located centrally inside the main entrance/exit. I filled out a slip and took it to the teller with my cash and identification. The teller looked up my account number and asked some clarifying questions. Turns out I was a legacy Mechanics Bank account and they were in the process of merging fully with another bank for the location by later in the month. The teller talked to other employees and called another branch to see if my deposit could be worked on, turned out it was limited access for who could perform the deposit for legacy accounts at that point in time. Another worker came back from their lunch break and started working on it. The teller was kind and made small talk and then directed me to a waiting area as the other worker figured it out. The chair I sat in while I waited was comfy. As I waited some music played on a small boombox on a table with refreshments by the chairs. Music played included a song I recognized from a movie trailer of a movie I wanted to see releasing in theaters later in the month. As the worker progressed they kept me updated, calling me in to their office when ready. As some aspects of the merger were processing, I was told there would be a delay to next day for money availability. The handwritten deposit slip was even on a HomeStreet Bank letterhead, a reminder the merger was still in process. All of the workers I interacted with were friendly and professional.

Recently had to interact due to a weekend mistake I made, which I quickly corrected on Monday. Asked for grace to have overdraft fee reversed since I haven't had an overdraft for years and I'm on a fixed income. They had to "do research" and then came back with a no hours later. This was after having to call back on Tuesday because they were too busy on Monday to even take a message without it being a complicated procedure for them. I'd move my mortgage if I could.

I let her know I just got off the phone with the official items dept. who I called to see if it had been cashed and was told that day 1-31 they can stop pay with a security bond and after day 31 they can stop pay without a bond. She said she recently did a stop pay and knows they have to wait 90 days and I was told the wrong information, while having an attitude with me. {nice way to hold your money} My receipt was on the counter top, c. check was for $500. I went to my car and called official items dept again, she told me the limit for the 90 days is $1000. and the teller should have helped me. She made notes to my account with a case number. I will be calling the manager in Smokey Pt in the morning. Funny that a customer knows more than an employee. So much for being an Asst. Manager, time to going back to a teller job.
