I would HIGHLY recommend Prompt Transmissions!! They rebuilt the TH400 trans in my 1968 Oldsmobile…read more442, about 5 years ago and it's been rock solid ever since! Their quote was a lot lower than I expected and they had it done in a couple of days!! They explained everything that needed to be done and I couldn't be happier!!

I have an older Yukon and of course it had to breakdown and leak tranny fluid all over my friends driveway when the temperature was ZERO! I drove away not knowing I had a leak and pulled over less than a mile away because the transmission was acting erratically. I was pretty upset as I felt that I might have trashed my tranny.... A $2500 repair. I had my Yukon towed to Prompt and the owner Chuck got it in right away. He said that it appeared that I hadn't damage the trans since they added fluid and drove it, but it had a serious leak. They pulled the transmission and found that something on the torque convertor had sheered off and that the pump bearing that had been previously used was plastic and it should have been metal. I had had the transmission rebuilt less than two years ago by a guy out of his pole barn when I fell on hard times. Clearly that was a mistake. I got what I paid for. Chuck offered to let me take it back to the guy who repaired it previously. I said that I wanted Chuck to fix it right. He did and I picked up my truck today. He was very fair with me on the repair bill. Thank you Chuck!

Lunghamer Chevrolet was incapable of giving us a quote on transmission repairs without first charging a 'diagnosis fee' ($150), followed by a huge ($750) non-refundable 'disassembly fee' just to give us a quote on transmission repairs. (See our review of Lunghamer Chevrolet) We refused to pay Lunghamers $750 disassembly fee just to get a quote, so after being forced to pay Lunghamer a $150 'diagnostic fee' to get our vehicle back from a repair quote gone bad, we limped our vehicle to Wayne's transmission shop $150 poorer and still without a 'diagnosis' of our transmission problems. Unlike Lunghamer Chevrolet, Wayne was able to diagnose the problem quickly and gave us a fair quote on the spot. The work was done in the time frame we were promised and the costs stayed as they were estimated. My wife brags about how much quieter her car drives now that the torque converter has been replaced and is thrilled that her mint condition 11 year old car could be saved from the scrap pile. Our only regret is that we didn't take our car to Wayne's first. We highly recommend Wayne's transmission and we'll be taking our car repairs there from now on!

I went back to pick it up and there was still a small puddle of fluid under my truck, so I crawled under it only to find nobody wiped away any of the fluid. They just gave it the good ole glance over and called it good. When I asked the dinosaur running the counter what was wrong he just said "we took care of ya" clearly not. I'll give them 2 stars simply because they came recommended, I won't be doing the same however. I cleaned it up myself and now I'll wait a day, see if they did fix anything and just left it messy for shits and giggles.

Extremely disappointed with my experience at this shop. I brought my vehicle in because of a…read morespecific noise/repair concern. After their diagnosis, I was told the right control arm and struts needed to be replaced, and I was quoted around $900. Not only was the original issue still present when I drove away, but the experience got worse from there. I was told my struts would be replaced, but I was later informed shocks were done instead. I was also told the right control arm needed repair, but work was done on the left side instead. On top of that, my car key was damaged while in their possession. I was given conflicting explanations first that the key was already wobbly, then that it had to be taken apart because the battery was dead. Regardless, I ended up paying to replace my own key. When I immediately told Mike (the owner) that the original noise was still there, he asked me to bring the car back the next day. After looking underneath the vehicle again, I was suddenly told there were multiple additional problems that somehow weren't identified in the original diagnosis--and I was quoted another $1,100. At that point, I lost confidence and took my vehicle to the dealership for evaluation. I provided them with the paperwork from this shop, and based on what I was told there, the repairs I believed had been completed were not consistent with what I was charged/told had been done. I am now having the dealership properly repair my vehicle. This was an expensive, stressful, and frustrating experience involving poor communication, conflicting information, unresolved issues, and damage to my property. I would strongly encourage anyone using this shop to get everything documented clearly and verified.
