Best meal I had eaten in a month!!! I loved everything I ate here- right down to the little salad garnish on the plate. I had the spicy chicken mix and potato pancakes with a garlic dipping sauce. Absolutely delicious! My father had the duck which he enjoyed as well. Step mom had some kind of platter I cannot remember but her favorite was the pork fat spread for the rye bread. Very neat place, clean and orderly, friendly staff, no wait time, well priced. No complaints!!

I feel like this is where you would go to feel and eat like you're in Game of Thrones, Middle Earth or like Medieval type of pub/bar. You have to walk downstairs and it's like a cave. Then you sit at wooden tables and grab some huge beers. Then order and the food comes in a Viking portion and on a silver plate. I definitely felt like I in the olden day. I got half a roasted duck. It was delicious! It was a huge half portion for a very reasonable price. The duck was juicy, crunchy and seasoned right. Very good. My BF got the goulash and he said it was alright. Oh, and to make it more middle earth era, you get a tub of pork fat (as butter) to spread on your bread. It was good... reminded me of being a hobbit or something.

I loved this restaurant!! Right outside is an armored statue, to set the Medieval tone of the inside. Anyone that know's me could tell you I had to try it just because for the "theme". It's sort of a cave, you go down the stairs and are greeted by the server or the bar, whichever you see first. Decoration inside is with more armored details, flags, big candle chandeliers. Lights are dim, tables, chairs, and other furniture is dark wood, giving it a more rustic/ old era feel. It's like you're transported to Medieval times... If only we had the clothes to go with it... This would have been even more perfect. I could picture it, the minute I sat down, like a movie in my head. To start they give you some bread and, instead of butter, they serve it with a mixture of potatoes and what I think was bacon fat - it tasted just like lard - you will either love or hate it. In my case, one small bite was more than enough, and never again. Menu is good for everyone. They offer chicken, beef, pork, fish, vegetarian dishes, and more. Main plates, sides, and desserts are translated to English, everything else, good luck... Fortunately our server was super nice, patient, and did his best to understand what we wanted. We were very grateful for that. I ordered the goulash, and everyone at the table was eating from my plate. This is one of their typical dishes and I don't think you can ever go wrong with it. Also tried the skewer dish, meat and chicken were tender and very well seasoned. For that plate we had special effects... Right before coming out, they turned off the lights and out comes this dish with blue flames - really cool. Also cool, the smile on our sever's face when he saw that we all liked it. Ok, back to the food. The beef with bacon and beans was outstanding. So tender, flavor was amazing, and, even with the bacon, it did not taste greasy at all. This is one place you should put on your list when visiting Prague. Believe me, you won't be disappointed.

his was one of my favorite meals in Prague. Dinner was delicious and relatively inexpensive. For about $40 USD, we got two bottles of local wine, two dishes and the complimentary bread. The service was helpful but on the slower side, considering we were dining early and it wasn't packed. There was a dark, romantic ambiance. The turkey stuffed with mozzarella and spinach was one of the most delicious, unique things I've had. While it's fundamentally simple, the preparation was perfect. I opted for a side of croquettes and had a well rounded meal. There were a lot of more standard Czech options as well. This meal easily would've run $80 in the states, and lacked the charm of U Sadlu.

Bread and lard. Beautiful.

Excellent Czech cuisine at an awesome price. The spinach stuffed turkey was fabulous. One of our party had rabbit and the other pork knuckle. All we're very good. We were shocked when we got the bill - with 4 beers and 2 cocktails, soup salad and main dishes, we paid $57 US dollars!

The atmosphere is very cozy

This restaurant is very cozy and beautiful. It looks like a high end tavern from a medieval movie. The food is very tasty too. Highly recommended.

Really really nice place! Steak was perfect, and the service in here is very good. Would go here a lot if i could. Prices are low for this quality of food.

Turkey stuffed with spinach, mozzerella and sundried tomatoes - really awesome

Stuffed turkey with sundried tomatoes, spinach and mozzerella was delicious. Garlic soup was also very good. Bread served with lard instead of butter - different but good. Service was great. The Budweiser goulash was okay but it could have been a little saltier. Overall I would come here again!

Again, if you love ancient history, this place will suit you just fine. It is like an underground cave type of restaurant. The service was OK considering the waiter might have had a bad day, but the other waiter was very attentive; besides that small detail, the place was very clean and peaceful. It seems to be great if you are on a date because the place is dark and there are candles on some tables. The food was just upright delicious and I was not too hungry either. Stop by and try it, you be the judge.

Menus and medieval portraits hanging on the walls

U Sadlu was one of my favorite places to eat in the center when I lived in Prague :) the food is delicious! When you enter you feel the medieval theme right away as you make your way down a spiral stone stairway to the basement restaurant. Once you enter you feel like you have been brought back in a time machine to a medieval Czech pub and are seated at long wooden tables. There are extravagant decorations all over including knights armor, chandeliers hanging from the ceilings, and tapestries of ladies and medieval figures. I was with some friends of mine who are Prague locals so of course I let them order me everything they recommended on the menu. We started out with a few pitchers of Czech Pilsner and a traditional old Czech cabbage soup & garlic soup (smoked pork, mushrooms, egg, croutons and cheese) very delicious and a bit salty. Once I was done with "the polevka" the main courses came out very quickly. I had the Boar goulash which came with potato pancakes, 2 different kinds of dumplings, sausage, horseradish, onions, peppers, and bacon. It was defo one of the most delicious dishes I have ever had (since i love being able to try a little bit of everything!) my friends ordered the chicken schnitzel, rabbit's thigh with cabbage & the svickova na smetane (beef sirloin in cream sauce) which is one if the most popular Czech meals. This was served with houskove knedliky (bread dumplings), whipped cream and cranberries. Both dishes were also really amazing. Best food and love the theme, for sure recommend this place to any tourist that visits Prague.

Unexpected ambiance like stepping into medieval cellar. Traditional Czech food. Open for a late dinner after playing tourist.

We came at 4pm on a Thursday and they told us we could find a table with a reserved time, we just have to leave about 15 mins before the reserved time starts. We walked into the back, found a four top and the waitress immediately got a baby chair and brought menus. She said they make buttered noodles for free for kids and said she can put that in asap - total pro! We ordered the pork roll with dumplings and a side of beet salad to share - DELISH! The menu changes daily and the waitress will tell you what's good to order - do as she says - order came out in less than five minutes! The blonde beer was delicious and crisp, very drinkable. If you want some good services, vibes, and classic beer and food- this is the place.

If you are looking for a very lively place that seats about thirteen hundred guests per day and has twelve tanks of beer, and the beer hall vibe then this spot is most certainly for you. Close to the Old Town square it is not at all touristy, the service is good and the prices are very fair for what you get. K ordered the Goulash, and I had the Chicken Schnitzel along with a beetroot salad to share. The food was plentiful and very good, especially the goulash gravy which was a deep colour that had amazing flavour. The schnitzel was not as big as the plate, but I couldn't finish it. K had a glass of wine and I a beer for about $64 CDN, which is good in Prague. Our only quibble was that the beetroot salad turned into a cabbage salad with horseradish. It was also good, but not what we ordered. We would most certainly come back and endure the half hour wait to experience and enjoy what is a somewhat unique European offering.
