We used UPack to move cross country. It was a good experience. We appreciated that we knew exactly what we would pay, and that we paid by the foot so it was very clear. We are do-it- yourself kind of people. If you want everything done for you it might not be the best option. We were warned that it isn't a moving van, it's a cargo trailer, so plan accordingly. That means, pad everything with lots of bubble wrap, pack the trailer tightly and to the roof, and get plenty of ratcheting straps to hold it all in. We had friend and family help loading, and it took 4 of us the full 3 days they gave us, but we hired a company to unload, which took 3 guys 3 hours with some help from us. UPack was on time, if not earlier than we expected. They did drop off the trailer at our destination on the first day of our 3 day window, which we weren't expecting, but it was fine. The movers came the second day as planned, and UPack picked the trailer up at dawn on the 3rd day. We got everything with just the most minimal damage; a corner of an ironing board, a little dent in a chair. All wine glasses in one piece (see: bubble wrap). If you do this, you need to get permits at each end to park the trailer for 3 days. UPack won't park unless they see them. Do your part, they'll do theirs, and all will be well. read more

After being freaked out by so many long distance moving stories I saw that Upack was recommended by a few on a fb group. Their price was so much less than others I honestly thought it may reflect in the service. Well I'm here to say it was NOT. They were timely, professional, their email, text communication was perfect. I had to call and change my arrival address and the gentleman was professional and very helpful. Here was my timeline because I know this was my question. Reserved my trailer in January for May Changed my move date in Feb up to April once I knew our selling date. Trailer was to arrive between 12-4 and it was dropped off my 1pm We finished packing it the following day with local movers and because it was a Friday my scheduled pickup was Monday. They quoted 7-10 days to arrive from CA of OK. And it arrived the following Tuesday and they gave me a 2 days to schedule the drop off. We hired local movers to unpack on Wednesday and they picked up Thursday. Like I said could not have gone smoother. Definitely the way to go for out of state moving. Side note: we moved a 4 bedroom home in a 26ft trailer and had 2 ft to spare. Total cost $4k plus $800 for movers on either side. This was 60% of the other quotes including PODs. read more

Great service here from the Sacramento team. Our move was easy and as low-stress as it could be! After packing everything up, we realized the original relocube we reserved may not be big enough for our cross-country move. We called the ABF office and after some digging on their end, they were able to reserve a second relocube for us "just in case". We ended up being able to fit everything in our one cube, but it was nice to know the service team was there for us to get a second cube if needed! Our stuff arrived in Massachusetts about 10 days after the load date. Minimal breakage, and the stuff that was broken was because we didn't pack it well enough (a glass cloche, a scratch on the unwrapped dresser, and shattered glass on an unwrapped coffee table). My suggestion would be to pack everything well (bubble wrap, packing paper, moving blankets, etc.). Avoid packing anything that could be damaged by heat (we packed some candles & lipsticks that melted in transit). Also, don't forget to bring 2 different locks to secure your cube! read more

This was by far the easiest long distance moving service! They were really helpful, professional, and very friendly. It was easy ordering the pod online, and a very easy drop off (even to an apartment complex). There was plenty of space in the pod for a furnished one bedroom apartment and it was easy to load in (I highly recommend ropes or ratchet straps to secure the items). When I was finished packing, it was super easy to let them know and for them to pick it up (I didn't even need to be there for it). The drop off was just as easy, they put the pod exactly where I wanted and was very helpful in making sure I was satisfied with the process. We moved from California to Texas and upack was close to the same price as a uhaul but we didn't have to drive it so we were able to drive our cars and not have to ship them or tow one behind a uhaul. The only downside is the waiting for the container to get delivered. Keep that in mind. We were quoted 5-7 days. We loaded our container and they picked up on 3/4 and it was delivered 3/15 so it was actually 11 days. Perhaps they mean business days . Anyways, very happy with the gentleman that brought us the container for loading. He was so helpful and went through every step . Oh one think I just remembered: when I originally booked it was one price, then I moved the loading day just by a couple days and suddenly the price jumped up by $1500 without much of a notice; I had to log into my account to see that. I called them to ask why, they said it was just a supply/demand thing, certain days of the week. So WATCH IT! When you're ordering, play around with which day you load, + or - a few, and you might see the prices are very different. Also, the partition doors in the trailer were difficult for one or even two people to deal with. But overall I liked the u-Pack experience. The truck we had must have had a leak somewhere because some of the blankets that where used to wrap the furniture got wet which damaged the finish on the furniture and the boxes got wet so they did not hold together, so double check your truck before you load it. The truck showed up when scheduled and the driver was very nice and explain in detail what to do when we were finished loading. The truck showed up at our destination when promised on a Thursday afternoon. Our unloaders were finished unloading by 10:00 am Friday morning. I called for a pickup at 10:00am, they said they would try to pick it up in the afternoon, since a have a Homeowners Assoc. and it had to be parked in our driveway. They did not pick it up on Friday (which I knew was a possibility) and they don't work weekends. Called Monday and they said they would pick it up about 2:00pm, they never showed up. When I called that afternoon they said it would have to be the following day. They finally showed up about 3:30 on Tuesday. There is no street parking in our neighborhood so we had no where to park our cars for five days. read more

Our things were delayed to the destination due to the city requiring permits. What could have been a stressful hiccup was handled by the Pros at UPACK. I moved from California to Arkansas. ABFREIGHT aka U-Pack was a grand solution. I requested 17' and only used 15'. I paid for only what I used. They don't charge your card until they pick up trailer. My packers put the gate up as close as they could and nothing moved. Both drivers coming and going were happy, kind and helpful. Extremely satisfied. Moved from Carmichael CA (near Sacramento) to Torrington WY. Had considered a one-way Uhaul trailer or truck, but didn't really want to buck the winds on I-80 through Wyoming. Also, we needed to store the belongings while we stayed in an apartment in Cheyenne for a month while waiting for our house to close escrow. The U-Pack trailer was delivered to Carmichael on time, and it allowed us to keep some furniture that we could not have packed in a uhaul trailer or truck. We also used a couple guys from the moving service to pack the trailer. The trailer was stored for the month we were in Cheyenne, when the house closed on a Monday, the trailer was delivered on Tuesday, and we had some movers unload the trailer for us on Wednesday. (The company that partners with U-Pack for movers didn't service Torrington, WY, so I used Yelp to find local movers to hire to unload for us. ) Overall, a very good move for us. We ended up using 17' of the trailer. That held a heck of a lot more than U-haul's 6x12 trailer, and even more than U-haul's 20' truck. (And probably more than the 26' truck). One-way costs for the U-pack was a little over $2000 (not counting the storage fee and they also gave us a slight discount because they had some materials that needed delivery to Cheyenne), anmUhaul 6x12 trailer would have been over $600 and would hold nowhere near as much, the Uhaul 20' truck would have been about $3,700 and their 26" truck would have been about $4,900. And I didn't have to pay for the gas that the Uhaul trucks would burn. This also allowed me to use my pickup to rent a Uhaul car transport trailer to haul my wife's car on the 2-day trip to Wyoming. We didn't have to travel in separate vehicles. And carried all the stuff we needed for the month's wait in Cheyenne (and our two cats) packed in the wife's car and the back of the pickup's cab. Now the storage of our stuff for a month was about $500, which is more than a storage unit in Cheyenne or Torrington would have cost for a month, but we didn't have to unload and reload ALL the belongings. All in all, an extremely satisfying and easy move. The logistics all seemed to fall into place. Would highly recommend you consider U-Pack for your move. read more

I had to explain I would pay when delivered with a cashiers check.. I told at least 3-5 internal people and they didn't relay message on to the next center, so my phone was ringing non stop. Delivery was not relayed internally so I had to call three times.. I wish I would have had more cardboard to protect my stuff from side of semi, it had aluminum inside that was ripped and it would catch my stuff, was ripping my boxes and totes. I had an awesome experience with U-Pack! A ReloCube was dropped off for a move from CA to CO. When they delivered it, the 2 drivers explained everything well. The whole process went smoothly (I had it stored for several months in CO). Because I moved to a busy city, I was nervous about where he could drop the cube, but he found the perfect spot so it was easy for me to unload up an elevator. WE looked at several options to help move our son from the Northwest to Mississippi. He didn't have that much and other companies didn't want to waste their time. I found U-Pack and contacted them. They were easy to contact, really nice, helpful and was half the cost of U-Haul. We were notified all along the process. Texts, emails and phone calls to help us with what we needed. I moved from California from Houston in July 2018. After interviewing several major companies and being disappointed with their outrageous prices, one of my friends suggested I explore U-Pack. I called them and they were very professional and answered my questions. I was told that my family and I would need to pack up our belongings and they would send out a trailer to take our personal items to California. Being seniors, my husband and I hired professional movers from a competitor's moving company. They came out and were very professional. They bubble wrapped, blanket wrapped and took very good care of our personal treasures which was worth thousands of dollars. We paid for expedited transport to California in 3 or 4 days. Once the truck came, our family opened the truck (our locks were not tampered with) and to our horror, over half of the items had shifted in the truck and was badly scratched, broken or some paintings were destroyed. Even our appliances were scratched, dishes broken. I'm wondering what the heck happened to cause this. The truck was packed to capacity, but I couldn't understand what went wrong with the move that cost slightly under $8,000. We filed a claim with U-Pack and they refused to take responsibility. Being seniors and having to deal with health issues and personal issues, we can't afford to hire lawyers to deal with this. Some of our items which were damaged, were treasures and heirlooms that have been in our family for years. Others were expensive furniture from Macy's, paintings from art gallery's and other treasured items. I would never, ever, recommend using this company. read more
