We have been into the store to rent vehicles and also to purchase moving supplies. 4 people standing around doing absolutely nothing but ignoring us and giving the impression our business was more of an inconvenience to their discussions. Nobody offered any assistance with as little as holding open the door while my wife struggled to get large moving boxes out the door doing multiple trips back and forth. Piss poor manners and customer service. Never again !! read more

Staff made it difficult to access my unit, was placed on restriction several times. Once for accessing a second unit too frequently, and the other for my pregnant girlfriend using the bathroom longer than the gm allowed. Gm discrimination and didn't follow legal guidelines for tenant landlord laws in Washington. Removed my access illegally and didn't give me required notice in writing before removing my access, causing me to loose money paid renting a van and hiring help to move out of my unit which I couldn't access without required notice. When I called to figure out what was going on I received text messages instead of a call back. Here are those messages: Uhaul Gm: You where placed on structured access due to misuse of the facility this was explained this morning your girlfriend. Me: I'm the owner of the unit, nothing was explained to me. What is the misuse of facility? Please explain in detail Gm: Using the restrooms for residential use Me: Explain what that means, because I didn't even use your restrooms last night. Me: I have a pregnant girlfriend waiting for me in an empty apartment we just got into, waiting for me to bring home our bed because she can't bare to sleep on the floor again Me: I rented a large van and have hired help I need to get our things man, this is ridiculous! Gm: You and your friend like to hang out in the restrooms for hour or more on multiple occasions. This is a storage facility. Gm: You're more than welcome to come back at 7 am when we open. Me: If the friend you are talking about is my girlfriend, she is 5 months pregnant and has Hyperemesis Gravidarum, a severe form of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy that can cause dehydration and weight loss. On a daily basis she is so sick that she can't keep down anything she puts in her stomach and has been hospitalized Twice already from its complications. She is also severely constipated to the point she spends hours in the bathroom everywhere she uses one, it's a horrific set of circumstances for our family, how could you cut off access to us without even having a conversation with us about it. Last time I checked, using the bathroom for an hour isn't a crime nor can I find anything in your rules or see any signs posted about a limit to the length of time you're allowed to spend having a bowel movement. Me: Sean, this is (removed) tenant of Unit #0509. I am fully paid up on rent and also pay for 24-hour access. Under RCW 19.150, a storage operator may only deny access if the tenant is in default, which I am not. Locking me out without written notice is unlawful. Your reasoning about "residential use" of restrooms does not apply, and my partner's extended restroom use is due to a documented medical condition (Hyperemesis Gravidarum), which may also fall under ADA protections. Denying access without considering this is discriminatory. I demand my access to Unit #0509 be restored no later than 10:00 PM tonight. If it is not, I will call the police to restore access and will also file a complaint with the Washington Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division for violations of RCW 19.150 and ADA protections. Please confirm access is restored immediately. Me: You cannot discriminate against a pregnant woman for needing more bathroom time than you alone are comfortable with, and what you have done is illegal. No further responses from the GM, had to reach out to the regional manager to get my access restored. Besides that, people without access regularly sneak/break in after hours and when the alarm goes off nothing happens. No police no security just a 30 second alarm goes off then nothing happens afterward. would highly not recommend this place! read more

Went in to get U-Haul at 10 am staff checked me in and got me my vehicle and supplies I purchased. It was upon return when things went left. I came to return the cargo van when I was charged for miles (10) to be exact. I had my card locked so I got an additional charge from U-Haul for $21 additional dollars when I only went over 11 miles than what I was initially charged for 10 miles. I went a total of 21 miles so I went to ask why I was being charged for total of miles instead of the remaining 11 and the lady working with the curly who is on her phone while speaking to me sighs and says it's a hold and the guy who we returned the vehicle to shows me the total miles I drove which shows I went 21 miles and the manager steps in and explains it's a hold and they charge miles separately even though the hold included miles that when the hold settles it will return what wasn't used. The customer service overall excluding the manager was not good she had a very nasty attitude not even making eye contact and sighing when she had to explain why I was being overcharged. read more

Apologies to the Hazel Dell staff, because my complaint isn't really their fault (which is why there are 2 stars instead of one). Really frustrated at the deceptive practices of the Uhaul online storage space reservation system. I booked a storage space in late May for an August 1 occupancy, but when I called on July 31 to get things started, it turns out the reservation doesn't matter at all and it is just first-come, first-serve. Even though I had received an email confirmation of the storage space, location and cost from the Uhaul reservation system, the Hazel Dell office staff did not appear to have any record of the transaction whatsoever. Why have an online reservation system that doesn't work? Moves are frustrating at the best of times, and having this unpleasant surprise is a supremely negative experience. Now I have another task on my to-do list that I thought I had resolved months ago. read more

Staff was great, especially assistant manager. I had to do my move completely alone and it took much longer than I planned and I had to keep the truck almost a week. I was able to extend with a quick 2 minute call each time! Their systems were down when I first rented which caused some issues but they gave me a couple free day rentals to compensate and it was a huge help financially. So close to earning 2 stars. Check in was slow even though I had a reservation and "checked in" online the night before. Charged me for fuel after I dropped off the truck, even though I had a receipt for putting gas in it. "The needle isn't exactly at 3/8", so I get charged a $30 fee plus gas. It's exactly where I picked it up at. Gotta make your extra buck somewhere I guess. I'll be contesting the charge. read more

had to pick up in Beaverton because no one had an auto transport. the truck I rented was too small and needed to get a bigger one. The customer service line told me I had to unload the truck and take it back where I got it instead of a straight across swap. This location got it figured out or me and I swapped my load in the parking lot. They were friendly and helped me out of a really bad situation. read more

I rented a truck or two to haul my stuff and many trailers which worked out better than the trucks to haul my stock and pull behind my Ford pickup every summer from 1995-2002! This was to carry my Suttlery saleable items to 5-6 Civil War Reenactment events around the Northwest every summer while I was in that business! If you need propane for your BBQ or heater, don't waste money on swapping containers for $22.00. Go to U-haul and get the container filled. I had two filled for around $10.00. You just pull up to the front door and ring a bell. No need to wait on the long line inside. read more

This is for U-Box services only. I will not go into great detail about how utterly exhausting this whole process has been but let me sum it up for you: Customer service is polite, seems honest, and will reimburse you for ...THEIR MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF MISTAKES! I don't know if their employees are improperly trained or if it's more of a system issue, but I hit more walls than I care to count. Over the past 30-40 days I've talked to more people across the West from Washington to California, and gotten more quotes, emails, voicemails, passwords, refunds, more quotes, appointments..than I can keep track of. I normally give people the benefit of the doubt, and I've never even written a yelp review, but I am compelled to write this in hopes that U-Haul is able to fix this system. Too many vendors, to many miscommunications. How I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to stay away from U-Box. Instead I'll tell you fellow mover. Stay away from U-Box. read more

Three times I've been here. Two out of three times I've walked out after waiting 10-12 minutes without any help. They've always said they are very busy & will get to me in a few minutes. Few minutes go by. Nothing. Few more minutes go by. Again nothing. I only have one question. If you are so busy, why am I the only one in the store or in the parking lot waiting for propane? Terrible customer service experience. Reserved a van by calling this location direct. Told female on phone I would be there shortly before closing and confirmed they closed at five. I arrived at 8 minutes to five. Four employees sitting around in store but no other observed customers. Upon entering store, told them I was there to pick up my vehicle. Male employee states they are closed. I said it's not five yet. Employee pulls out his phone to check time and sees it's still few minutes before five but says "That's not the way it works. We quit renting at fifteen till". I told them I was in a bind and needed the vehicle that night as I had to be somewhere early to deliver some equipment. Argued to no avail. Note nowhere on their building, website or in my phone conversation during reservation did anyone mention this fifteen minute policy. Was told to leave rudely an come back tomorrow. Time is exactly 5:00 PM when I leave store. Due to circumstances of having to have the vehicle to meet a delivery obligation by eight that morning, I returned the next morning at 7 AM. At least two of the same employees were there again including a young female wearing a name tag identifying her as "Owner". I told her I was very dissatisfied with having to come back that morning and that they had put me in a bind. Some male employee acting aggressive in demeanor states we don't rent to people two minutes before we close. I pointed out we both knew I was there earlier than that because I had seen him check the time on his phone. Guy is all puffed up and giving me the stink eye I guess trying to do the intimidation thing. He then goes on a rant about how I think it's all about me. No kidding he says that. I point out that I am the customer... While this is going on, the young lady has pulled up my reservation, printed it and presented it to me. After a couple of questions, I sign and initial. My credit card is already on file from the reservation. While I'm signing, the guy employee is still chipping away at me and says "we can reverse your credit card payment and report you stole the van". I start laughing at him and then he starts cursing at me under his breath. I said,"now you are going to start calling me names". He says yeah you are an "*hole". The young lady owner is now trying to quiet this guy down. I gather my paperwork and am walking out to my rented van in exactly 7 minutes after I entered the store.... This is the fifth time I have rented from the location within a year. Up until now, I have never had any problems. Too bad because their location is close but now they won't get another chance. read more

Horrible customer service. Standing inside for quite sometime while two employees were checking in a truck in right outside the door (no customer around) and looked up and saw me waiting. Did not say a word. Got in the truck and pulled around the side of the building. I Went out to ask if I was going to get service and one was sweeping out the truck while the other was on his phone. I was told he would be in a little bit. So I got in my truck and drove to the Uhaul on Andresen and spent my $900 there. They were more welcoming. read more

Wow, Alicia and Garrett were on it. We got in late Friday, they were fast,got us unhooked quickly and friendly as ever after our long tiring trip. I had bought a hitch at Walmart but the ball needed flipped. The weld on the ball was sooooo tight. I think Walmart does that since you are buying it in "once piece" and they maybe dont want them separated or maybe the ball was actually welded into the bar and the nut holding the ball was there "just for show" purposes. Well two uhaul guys together spent 10 minutes with hammers, vices and 150-250 lbs of body weight.. Taking turns while the other one caught their breath. (They did this for free BTW, and I didn't even need to ask.. I was only there to rent a cheap trailer) In contrast, they could have only tried for a couple minutes and then attempted to coerce me into buying a recommended hitch and ball from Uhaul (which would have left me secretly resentful) But no, they were so kind and they never gave up. They successful flipped the ball and got my trailer on! Here is the kicker, after they spent all that time and sweat, my lights didn't work! Despite that, they still had the most awesome attitudes and simply asked me what I wanted to do (patiently) they suggested that I fix my fuses and they could keep my reservation on hold until I was ready. I ended up using a rental truck instead, best yet, this was an idea they let me come to by myself rather than suggesting it. This did not bother me in the least after seeing how hard they worked to please me. (CLARIFICATION: I am sure if I was stuck on what I should do and asked they would have suggested the truck, but the important thing here is they had the wisdom in that moment to pause and allow me to come up with the idea). read more

Long story short, I left my 7 ft metal bed struts in the truck (my bad). I called and asked if they had them. The kid said he didn't know and I could "Call and complain to his manager on Monday." I explained I just was looking for my things. Ended up going there and asking another associate the same thing. Without checking he said no. I ended up extracting my things from the side of the building blatantly next to the front door. Rude. Unprofessional. Never again. Not the person to complain, but they literally had no intention to help after I had spent $200. Just wanted my stuff. I hope this makes it to the owner of the location. Hope you all make informed decisions of the possible rudeness and negligence that they are capable of. In customer service, the owner/manager is only as good as the people they employ. read more

Last month we rented a car dolly for a few hours which cost $60. It was returned that same day. U-Haul called us reminding us that it was due back before 4:30. We kindly let them know it was returned hours prior. They told us, okay their bad, they must have overlooked it. It's almost a month later and I just got a charge for $145. They're claiming it was never returned. We drive past there every day to-and-from work, we've seen it in their parking lot. Somebody isn't doing their job checking the equipment back in and charging people's cards for it. I know that this has happened to a handful of people and never expected it would happen to us. I'm calling U-HAUL out and asking them to fire the ignorant fools who are costing responsible people hundreds of dollars, and asking them to correct their mistake by refunding innocent parties their money. I have the contract in hand and will go show them the trailer we rented as well as the contract tomorrow. They have a lot of explaining to do. DO NOT RENT from them, they will swear up and down that you will not be charged but they do it anyway. They overcharge, even when you follow the rules, and they're overpriced for the services they're offering. Not to mention TERRIBLE customer service. DO NOT use U-HAUL. read more

After being disappointed about another location (and the vehicle not being available at the time it was reserved MANY weeks before) we called Brett (GM) of this location and within 45 minutes (including our travel time) we were driving away with a vehicle that suited our need perfectly.
