The owner was very friendly, the service was prompt, professional and thoughtful. When I explained I had purchased a few things online for an impending move, the owner/clerk (I forget his name, darn) was kind enough to recommend reducing the amount of tape I purchase because I did not need that much. He also compared a package deal with my purchase of indvidual boxes at my request, and he concluded quickly for me that the individual boxes were better, because I could return any that I didn't use. He emphasized with my concern that some of the collected items being moved were not worth the shipping costs, and commented he often mentions to customers that sentimentality someimes inflates the value of an item to be moved. We are moving to another state, so yes, that's an expensive emotion. I needed shipping tubes and a postage scale. He recommended FedEx and Harbor Freight. Thinking I could maximize my time, I ended up trying other places and to my chagrin, only FedEx has the shipping tubes, and Harbor Freight was the only place that had a postage scale of the size that I needed. Later, when I was returning my boxes, I realized with dismay that I didn't have my receipt. He was quick to say, he could look up the purchase on my credit card and completed the return for me, sans receipt. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs moving supplies. read more

Ug have many personally caused issues after getting tow package installed. Great price compared to dealership estimate too. They were nothing but amazing in fixing each issue. Example: Ug not tell correct size for ball hitch and they fix, Ug have wrong height for hitch to tow camper and they fix. Ug back up over curb and splice wires to trailer and they fix....twice. Quick and professional service even when system is down if you tried calling beforehand but showed up at location. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible service. Uncaring, condescending staff who could care less that your stressed, angry and frustrated. The story... I reserved ( weeks in advance) a 26 ft moving truck, the biggest they had, for a cross town move in Corvallis. I checked in the day before using the on line app for driving license etc. Arranged pick up of truck for 10 am to miss the early morning rush and to allow an hour until the moving guys I had hired were due. Apron presenting myself and asking for the truck I had reserved, I was told that they had rented it out already and didn't have another....."But I reserved it !" I said in disbelief, " yeah, sorry about that, another branch extended the rental" ...." But I reserved it! " I repeated in greater disbelief, ....." Yeah, sorry about that, it shouldn't have happened...... we have a 20 ft you can have..okay ? " Now I had estimated that we could get our house moved in one trip in the 26ft and have the moving guys for 3 hrs @ $100 per hour, in a 20 ft we have to have another trip, and cost at least another hour... "No!" I said ....."I reserved a 26 ft and I need it, you will cost me at least $100" "Well," they said, "since you didn't get the truck you reserved, we will credit you $50" Looking pleased with themselves and like I should be grateful.... Now I am mad....." No, I want the truck I reserved" They looked perplexed and went back to their screens, " There is one in Albany you can have" " Fine I said, when can you get it here, my movers are coming in half an hour..." " Oh no, we have not got the staff, you have to go get it"..... " What! That's a 20 mile round trip, are you at least going to credit me mileage, that's an additional $20.." " Oh no we can't do that" looking at me like I was admitting to being a child molester.... I was really mad now and began using colorful words that were overly descriptive and probably anatomically incorrect. Frustrated and angry with no time to do anything else ( and these smirking Troglodytes were fulling aware I was helpless) I took the 20 ft truck vowing to never ever use this place again. As expected it cost me another trip and $100 in movers charges. The next day I got an email from U-Haul customer care apologizing for my experience and they awarded me a $15 gift card, redeemable at any U-Haul. My boyfriend & I suddenly moved out & needed assistance with storage units with what was available at the last minute. Brent let us book two at the same time incase the smaller one didn't fill all our belongings we could rent the other one out that was twice as big. The day we came to bring our stuff to storage a bigger unit but not too big opened up & he let us know if we'd like to take that one instead! It worked out for us financially and space wise, for a last minute storage Brent helped us a lot. read more

Buyer beware! And before I say anything further, please note there are two U-Haul's in Corvallis. This one is on Fifth Street, the one tucked away by various car dealerships. Please do not confuse this with the one on 9th Street (shout out to the fantastic management there!). I rented a 10' van late afternoon for a quick move of some items. The two very young men (high school??) assisting me took a photo of my driver's license - front and back - which I am told is now U-Haul Corporate policy. More on that later.... In the meantime, I use the rest room and they have my son sign the agreement digitally. When I come out, they are gone. I never saw the contract or agreement. Never received it electronically. No one was on the premises at that point to answer questions. We find the truck and leave, me feeling uneasy but distracted with the immediate task ahead. Days later I find a charge to my bank account for $65. Yup, a $19.95 truck that I drove 11 miles total cost a total of $65. I went in for an explanation and was told I was charged $9.50 for not filling the tank adequately (I had) and another $20 for not using an app to drop it off. It took days to connect to the manager for further explanations and he argued because my son signed digitally I was responsible. Why take my ID photo then, I argued, if they end up transacting with someone else, someone who did not have authority?? I received nothing in paper or electronically, not even a final bill. No one went over the terms of the contract with me. No one ensured I was aware of the contractual agreements, including the ridiculous penalty for not using the app to check it back in. Eventually, the manager reluctantly agreed to refund the egregious charges, albeit in an unprofessional tone. I'll wait a few days to ensure it happens. In the meantime, corporate offices will hear from me as well. Side note, I accidentally called the UHaul on 9th street to follow up on my earlier phone messages to 5th Street that hadn't been returned. The manager there thought the error was theirs and offered such help and apologies, and it was only during the course of our conversation we discovered I was speaking to the wrong UHaul office. I would NEVER use this store again. Not saying anything bad about U-haul in general but this certain store is a RIP OFF literally. The owner YELLS at his employee's which is not cool for sure. About 2 years ago I rented a truck to haul some household items to the dump. When I got the truck to my house it would not start. Come to find out someone had put diesel instead of gas. Not a problem...they towed the truck and told me to come get another. I got my stuff loaded back up and headed to the dump. Made it about 5 miles and that truck broke down. What are the chances??? Bummer for the company and me. I called but the guy would not talk to me and told me to call the 1-800#. I waited 2 hours on the side of the road before they got a tow truck to me and I never got to dump my stuff. When I returned to the store the guy asked me what I had done to his truck. I laughed assuming he was kidding. He was serious. He said...I have never had two truck break down in one day... WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY TRUCKS? I could not believe what he was saying. I told him someone would need to take the stuff in the truck on to the dump and we will call it good. Then he got mad because I had stuff I was taking to the dump. BOTTOM LINE - He billed my credit card $350.00 in addition to the fee I paid for the truck that never worked. JUST use another location not this one. He is a thief and not a nice man. read more

Needed to rent a truck to pick up a swing wet for our little boys first birthday. I called in to see if they had any trucks but they would not tell me till I reserved one and gave them a credit card number. I wanted to know what fees they charge besides the $19.95 for the truck. He said its $19.95 for the truck, $1 environmental fee, $.59 per mile. When we got there they told us we needed proof of full coverage insurance or there was an additional fee of $10, I thought the $.59 per mile counted towards fuel but no we still had to fill it back up too. This is not the first time we have had issues with this U-Haul before. read more

Horrible experience - dealt with a guy by the name of Glenn. We went in to have a trailer hitch put on a brand new vehicle. We showed up 10 minutes earlier than our appointment and still had to wait 20 minutes. They wired the Toyota wrong to the tune of about $250. and we ended up taking it next door to the Toyota dealership where it cost me another $130 to correct their wiring mistakes. They did a very poor job - even the mechanics and sales reps at Toyota just shook their heads and commented about how slop shod the work was. This company was actually stupid enough to let the wire that would connect a trailer's lights dangle down in between the hatchback door and the bumper. They were supposed to wire the hitch and come up through the bottom of the Toyota into the trunk area (there's a cut out for wiring - Toyota ordered a grommet so the metal cut out wouldn't act like a saw on the wires that run through the circular opening). U-Haul wired the trailer hitch then brought the wires up vertically, across the bumper, and then back down into the very small trunk area. so that means every time you open and close the hatchback of the Highlander, the wires are getting crimped by the slamming of the hatchback. And he was rude on top of everything else. Save yourself some headache, time, and money and take trailer hitch wiring issues to a car dealership in town. They will be more professional and have all the manufacturing specs on wiring. read more

I used this location twice. The first time went well and that's why I didn't think anything of returning for my next van rental. It matters who you deal with it turns out. The first rep was on script and you could tell was a rule following sort. Professional and personable. The service the second time was exactly the opposite. Nobody else in the shop waiting but the rep was rushing through everything. I get a van that's noted as having a fuel gauge at half a tank. I jump in and more like 3/8 of a tank. It's moving day, the clock is ticking away. I assume that they aren't strict in checking the fuel levels. The mileage was even off my a couple numbers. And the van most have just been dropped off. It was slightly dirty but it's the wet season. The clincher was that opening the back door, it reeked of pot. Someone had probably moved their grow operation. It was so stinky. It's Oregon and I'm a liberal, I only care on a customer service level. It smells BAD!! So I return the van on time and leave on my way. The fuel level was a needles width below half a tank. I figured it wouldn't matter given the level I actually received it with. LOL NOPE. Remember it depends on who feels like doing a good job. Sadly whoever checked it in dinged me for a gallon of gas at their 4.00 a gallon charge. My reaction was to sigh at my computer screen and send an email that outlined the annoying situation I had. It wasn't an amount to cry over but I'm not a fan of even a $4 charge that rubs me wrong. I wait for a response. Nothing. Then I get an automated email asking to rate my service. I popped off a negative review like this one. THEN and only then did my phone blow up with a call from the location. I hung up, I'm not taking back the review, it stands on the record that they only care when you tell the public about their crappy service. read more

All I can say is WOW!!!! I reserved a trailer to haul some stuff and was lucky enough to have Stephanie help me. This is the first time I have worked with her and she is AMAZING. She was very thorough in her explanation (this is the third trailer that I have rented and she is the first to explain things so well), she even took the time to explain how to hookup a trailer to my special needs neighbor who was curious and had accompanied me on this trip. Had an appointment to have my 05 Expedition wired with brake controller and 7 pin plug. Appointment was at 10:30 so I arrived at 9:45am and the fellow was able to start on it. It was suppose to be a half hour job according to the person that took the appointment,and I knew that these thing can run longer. I went out a couple of times to see how it was going and the fellow doing the work (very personable) said "This is my first plug and play install". I was finally able to leave around noon. Sunday I decided to hook up to the trailer and check things out before I left on a trip Monday. Wow! After plugging in the trailer my transmission shifter would not move and the engine light came on. After some research I was able to unlock the shift lever. I found a fuse that was blown and that seem to fix things. I again connected the trailer and it blew the fuse again, locking the shift lever and on with the engine light. Called U haul in Corvallis and was told to bring it in Monday morning. Later in the day they called back and said the manager (Travis) said they would not be able to get at it until Tuesday. Not Good! I am suppose to leave Monday. I called at 7:30am Monday to speak with Travis but went to the answer center and told the lady what was going on. She called the office while I was on hold and talked with Travis who said it would call me back. Just before 9am he called and asked what was going on? I told him. He said bring the car in that he had to call the fellow in because they were short of people (not to fix the problem of my wiring), no apology or anything. I again drove from Albany to Corvallis and the fellow that did the work on my car took it into the shop again. He had wired into the cruise control switch rather then the brake switch so he switch that around and said " if there is any more problem just bring it back" . That did not sound promising. I came back and hooked up to the trailer and the same thing happened?? I went to the coast anyway, could not lock my vehicle, engine light on. Lights on the trailer but no trailer brakes. When I returned to Albany, the next day I went to the U haul center in Salem after being told they had a good manager and also a electrical person that was tops. Robyn had them go to work right away and John after looking at the wiring job from Corvallis ended up taking everything out and starting over with new parts. A half hour later it was done, John took the time to show me on a tester that everything was working proper. Salem is the place to go if you need wiring and really great people read more

I initially rented a one way truck from Corvallis to Silverton. The issue started when I decided to leave the truck in Corvallis and was told it would cost an extra double fee (around $380). Fortunately I called customer service who assured me it was no problem changing the contract. They connected me with the Woodburn location (changed from Silverton) who also quickly resolved the issue. Corvallis U Haul finally took care of it but very reluctantly. I'm very grateful to customer service and the Woodburn branch for their flexibility and just confused about the Corvallis location's poor service. read more

Got there at the appointed time no trailer present and none in sight. No apology. Third time another trailer reserved well in advance. Same story. UPDATE: using uhaul again to move in Corvallis. Made a reservation on Tuesday to pick up a 10' truck on Friday morning. I get there Friday and they do not have my reservation nor am I in the system. Corvallis location does not have any more available today so they reserve a truck for me at the Albany location- which has been confirmed. On the way to the Albany location I get a call saying that they have no trucks available and I need to come on Sunday. This is absolutely ridiculous. Uhaul has horrible service. I will never be using this service again and will make sure to tell anyone I know that is moving to stay away from the Corvallis uhaul. read more

Not only did I get charged more than I'd agreed to when renting the trailer, but also I had to spend the day dealing with three people because they misplaced the trailer. I'm only giving this place a 1 star because you can't not rate the company. I've had this reservation confirmed since the end of May and made sure to check that it was correct. I scheduled a reservation for 12pm on Saturday, they called the day before and told me my reservation was now at 4pm, and that they couldn't even guarantee a truck for me by 4pm. They wanted to change my reservation to 5pm, when I had to be at my storage unit before 5pm, an hour an a half away. I talked to the manager, Trevor, and he spoke to me like I was a complete idiot. He made no conflict resolution for me and didn't try to get me another truck. I ended up having to cancel my reservation and scramble to find a truck elsewhere. I will not be returning. read more

Uhaul has repeatedly proven to have terrible customer service. I have used the U-box shipping program three times and EVERY time I have had huge disasters and lies from employees to deal with. Everything from the manager holding the box to collect an extra months rental fee to boxes going missing in transport and not being able to be traced, to most recently the company falsely advertising a u-box center in a location without the necessary tools to accept a box rendering my box stuck over 40 minutes away and me without any way to access it so I got to spend MORE money for delivery. I have only used this company recently because it was literally the only option available in the city I was leaving from but next time I move I will give away EVERYTHING before even considering u-haul again. Four years ago, the manager at the College Station TX u-haul with-held my box to get an extra months rental fee incurred despite promising that the box would be shipped the day after I dropped it back full of EVERYTHING I owned. Then, the box went missing in the shipment and couldn't be located. It arrived almost exactly 30 days past the "guaranteed" date and they had the audacity to try to charge me an extra month rental fee despite knowing the issues that were occurring! At that time, their upper level management were contacted including regional managers and the CEO of the company and they seemed to believe that they could fix the issues by mailing me coupons for free boxes for the next time I moved- but yet, I never received those promised coupons! When that box finally arrived in Corvallis- over a month late- the manager (Trevor V) delivered it to my apartment complex without notice, when nobody was home to accept the box, with the lock completely torn off of the box and the door secured with saran wrap! I had to unload the entire box after arriving home at 8pm (because I worked in a veterinary hospital and routinely work 13-hour shifts as a resident) because none of my belongings could be secured! Most recently, the manager at the Corvallis store (again, Trevor V) accepted a u-box and put in a shipment to the wrong city. When I told him he selected the city he told me "that doesn't matter just call this number and they will re-direct it for you." When I called to get the box re-directed to the correct city, I was told: 1- this is a lie, they cannot re-direct a box to a different city once it has been sent for shipment; 2- the delivery site in the city I was moving to was unable to accept u-boxes despite the fact that they are clearly listed as a u-box center on the u-haul website and via the u-haul website you can order a shipment directed there! Trevor V is clearly a lazy manager and doesn't give a damn about the customer or the business he works for. The fact that two managers at completely different cities would act so similarly sneaky makes me believe that the problem is with the company itself, extending far beyond the local depots. Their call center people are not familiar with what their business offers. They are unable to search confirmation numbers, and they put you off by saying they are making notes on your account but somehow those notes are NEVER accessible by ANYONE else you wind up speaking with. The MovingHelpers service is completely useless and uninformed. Despite that the actual moving company that was organized was very nice and did a great job, MovingHelpers was totally unable to give me any information with how the service worked- despite my directly asking they told me the MovingHelpers provide their own transport vehicle for the u-box, which is untrue causing me to have to write a personal check at the delivery for $117- this seems like not a big deal, but when you've already spent literally thousands and then were forced to spend another $210 for a moving crew because the delivery site wasn't a real u-box center, this is a huge thing for the u-haul MovingHelpers to not realize might be a necessary cost to mention! It would be worth double to NEVER see a u-haul truck again, because they truly are that terrible of a company. read more

I had come a few years ago to get a hitch installed and faced nothing but the runaround from the old shop manager. I thought I was done w/ this place for good. I recently got a Mercedes, which is a bit more involved than past vehicles and installations, and brought it here. Pierce was very helpful in selecting the right hitch, and was able to install it in a timely manner. There were a few electrical issues that arose, but Pierce took the extra time and researched a solution that worked, and left me a satisfied customer. read more

Very frustrating. I turned in the uhaul and the employee on site said he would deal with it and put the keys in the dropoff box. So I took a picture of it on the lot and left. The next morning I got a early morning call saying they don't have the car. After an employee the night before said he would get it checked in. This place does not even deserve one star. I went to drop off a truck I used to move from Portland to Corvallis and as I pulled up, I saw an elderly man laying in the doorway of the office. He had tripped and fallen on the stairs. I immediately ran up to offer help and saw that the man was bleeding pretty heavily from his eye. One of the workers seemed to be assisting him but when I asked if anyone had called an ambulance, he said that they were not calling because he was fine. I was stunned, I helped the man to sit up and then called 911. The ambulance came and assisted the man with his injuries. It had been 10 minutes since the man had fallen and no one bothered to clean up the blood that was still in the doorway, as other oblivious customers walked in and out. I went inside to complain and they literally ran around like chickens with their heads cut off. I couldn't believe it! I am NEVER going back. read more

One of the worst experiences I have ever had (hitch installation). Installation date slipped numerous times from July 14 until July 28th. Phone calls to the center either not returned or rerouted to their service center with no resolution, just a "we will get back to you." Over 20 calls made in this manner AFTER they had billed my credit card. Wait times up to 30 minutes on their answering service. Reschedule dates and times not kept as promised. Messages to Trevor, the site manager, never returned. Order placed online, then spoke to Denise, Roy, Mellisa, Trent, Cody, Gary, Samatha, Whitney, Nancy, Will...
