I had a truck reserved for over two weeks for a move in Alberta. the day before my move I received an email saying my truck is ready for pick up tomorrow from over 400 kms from my location in British Columbia. I called and sat on hold for over a half hour to be transferred again to wait on hold another 20 min just to be told a "reservation" (which is what it is called on the email) isn't actually a reservation, they take any and all reservations with no effort into actually looking if a truck will be available. I was luckily able to find the last truck rental in the city from a different company for my move tomorrow. the unprofessional handling from this company is abysmal. will not use u haul until they are able to fix their reservation system. read more

We had a booking with Uhaul for nearly 3 weeks for a weekly rental. Now we find out they don't do this. Apparently they have a policy of no more than two days at a time. Like who the hell can work with a two day opportunity? When speaking with the manager Dinson Devassy he showed no concern. It's either his way or the highway. Their policy overrides anything you need. So, if you need something for more than two days you might start looking elsewhere. Their policy after all is more important than your needs. A policy which is stupid and does not fit the requirement for some of us. When I found out enterprise truck rental's was available we called them and they were very good on the phone. There are no limitations or caps. I had no choice but to provide one star on this review or else I could not submit the comment. But zero stars in my opinion. Bad customer service from the start. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use these people for your rental needs. Not only is their customer service horrible, they will mess up dates and then charge you for their mistakes. I called in to inform them that they had scheduled me on the wrong date, that was back on December 25th 2012. Clearly, I did not show up to pick up the U-Haul becuase I didn't book that date (what are they doing being open on Christmas day anyway, let your guys take a holiday?) and they did not bother to call me. Instead, I call to confirm my upcoming rental and they didn't have any available trucks. Ok, benefit of the doubt, honest mistake - but instead of an apology the lady starts yelling and screaming saying "we can't trust that it was our mistake, it could have been yours! We can't just be crediting everyone you know!" Well I didn't ask for a credit, I asked to actually have a truck that I was billed for back in Decemeber. She was no help and was extremely rude. Ended up calling the hotline/head office which was a complete different tone, they apologized and found me a truck. On top of that, gave me a credit - which the store was able to do but refused to do. Don't get stuck in a nightmare of a situation like I was, this kind of business service is unacceptable. read more

This place is a joke. I arrived promptly at 10am for my SCHEDULED hitch installation, to stand in line for 25 minutes without even being acknowledged. After finally speaking to someone, I was asked to move my vehicle and bring back the keys, after doing so I had to stand in line for another 20 minutes just to hand over my keys. After doing so I was told that my car wouldn't even be touched until 12pm as my appointment was not confirmed by their branch and "Arizona" had messed up my appointment and they had double booked me. So after travelling 25 minutes to this location, 25 minutes home speaking to customer service for 45 minutes on the phone to file a complaint and try and receive some sort of compensation, I was DENIED because it was "arizonas" fault because they didn't confirm with the branch that 10am was available. LIKE WHAT?!?! Again, HOW IS THIS MY FAULT. Absolute and UTTER WASTE OF TIME. PISS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Spend the extra money and go elsewhere for your hitch installation. And the BATHROOM. I just did a move yesterday and rented a 14' truck from this Uhaul Location. Everything was quick and we were on the road within 15 minutes of arriving and close out took less than 10 minutes. The staff member I dealt with was helpful, professional, and patient even when she found that we made the reservation using a prepaid credit card and was quick to respond when we informed her the gas tank was filled to where it was listed on the sheet. read more

Worst experience ever. This experience has been a nightmare. A Pain The guy in the Blacfoot Office is the rudest dick ever. Their head office is worse still. The lady on the phone has no empathy. When we booked the vehicle, we had made a comment to the call centre to make it for 2 days. But they did not. When we went to pick the truck up, they will not lend it to us for more than a day. We are stuck now, moving out today of an appartment but no truck available for tomorrow afternoon when I move in to new apartment. We are in a fix now. Don't know what to do. We didn't even end up purchasing anything from them after the shi*t show we witnessed. There were about 4 women working and there was a fairly long lineup when we showed up. The people in line seemed pretty restless so I assume they had been there quite some time. One of the employees comes walking in yelling about moving a black truck that was blocking a u-haul vehicle. Two men had black trucks and asked which one. She rudely yelled that anyone in the lot needs to move! One man lost it at this moment and left swearing under his breath which caused the employee behind the desk to start yelling at him. Very professional. We were still waiting to purchase our moving boxes when another woman threw change down on the counter for her box and left. Albeit, she was very rude and probably brought it on herself, but as she tried to exit the lot, she was blocked by another vehicle going in and a u-haul trying to get out. Their lot is insane and unorganized to say the least. So she is being super impatient and honking and trying to squeeze through and probably deserved a honk or two back. Instead, two employees go up to her window screaming at her. One blocks her way so she can't get out and they continue to threaten and berate the frightened woman. I am surprised nobody got hit in her panic to escape these bullying women! She finally managed to swerve around the aggressive employee but I saw her pulled over to the side of the road ahead and was clearly upset. So we put our boxes down and decided to go elsewhere. I don't think I will be using u-haul for any of my future moving needs! Keep going down the road to Enterprise where I'm positive you'll receive better service than this sh*t hole! read more

Call centre staff is great but the people in the store should be fired and never rehired in customer service anywhere else. Do NOT go to this U-Haul, and I encourage you to not use U-Haul anywhere until this location is shut down by head office. I drove here to meet my friend who was inside renting a truck for moving. He wanted me to drive because he doesn't drive trucks, let alone one-ton box trucks. That is rather small for me, so I did him the favour. There was nowhere to park, as all the spots were taken, either by customers or U-Haul vehicles, so I left it parallel to the building behind another U-Haul truck that was just about to be parked, and beside the angled parking near the entrance. When I was inside waiting with him, we heard a crash. I ran outside to see that the truck I had parked behind had gone backwards into my car and wrecked the front end of it. One of their employees, without even having time to think about what she was about to do, ran out screaming at me, blaming me for parking my car there. Yes, absolutely it's my fault that her employee backed into my parked car which would have been clearly visible had he done a walk-around (required by law) before starting the truck up, right? Not only that, but he had no reason to be in reverse in the first place. He was attempting to park it, but the spot he was going to move to (only one available) would have required going forward first, and then backing in to the left. She screamed and swore at me that the signs say no parking (a flat-out lie that I easily disproved by turning my head to the right - they only stated a time-limit for the parking spots) and asked me what I was thinking. Never in my life have I been so infuriated. I understand sometimes it sucks when "the customer is always right", but this was above and beyond any reaction I would have ever expected from any employee or business, ever. I'd also like to point out that even if there were signs, it could have been left running, ambers flashing, with someone inside the vehicle while I ran into the office to ask about parking. It was parked far enough back that he could have seen me in his side mirrors. I don't ever park directly in the blind spot for this exact reason. Luckily nobody was in the car when it got hit. Now back inside, I asked to see the guy's driver's license, as he couldn't speak enough English to understand what I was saying. They told me "He doesn't need his driver's license. He works for us." Um, what? It REALLY gave me the feeling that he wasn't licensed at all. So, now I've been yelled at for something that wasn't my fault, by a business that is supposed to be professional, lied to about no-parking signs that don't exist, lied to about en employee needing a driver's license to drive on any public road, and within those lies, also implied that I must be some kind of idiot to not know simple rules or how to read signs. There were about six witnesses to the incident. One of them being the GM of a prominent heavy machinery equipment rental service in the city. When I called insurance about the claim, they tried to get out of paying any deductible that would have been required by continuing to put the blame on me. And I had no physical evidence to show that they're a bunch of (terrible) scam-artists. When I went back in (with police) to sort it out with them, as they were refusing my calls, the police told me I couldn't enter as I had been banned from the location. They didn't bother to look into the fact that their employee who hit my (parked) car may have been unlicensed, or any other law this location may have been breaking. (Good use of our tax dollars.) In the end, I'm unsure if they paid the deductible, or if Enterprise finally gave in and soaked up the cost themselves. Before I forget, I had discovered that this is possibly a franchised location run by a family. Three women from what I could tell. They don't really look like they should be owning anything, either. I guess in this case the cover does do the book justice. I don't understand how they're still in business after all of the reviews I've read from here and elsewhere (on their own site!). The good ones have to be paid for, or written by (more) family. I beg everyone reading this to never consider renting from this location. It is absolutely awful, and these people do NOT deserve anyone's service. Terrible human beings. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

If I could give this service a zero, I would. We scheduled to pick up our U-Haul rental from Winks in the SW. we were on a tight timeline and scheduled out pick up for 9am. The store was not open when we arrived. The convenience store owner did not show up until almost 20 minutes after 9. He was slow in processing the U-Haul and decided to work on opening his store instead handing us over the keys for the U-Haul. We called U-Haul and they offered to refund us $50, however it's been a week and no refund has been made. Several calls have been made to U-Haul and they are now reluctant to give us the refund. To top it off, the whole truck smelled like marijuana and so did all of our belongings we brought into the truck now. Zero stars for the service through both Winks (Westhills Location in Calgary) and U-Haul. It has been a week and there's no resolution. I spoke to a rude woman on the phone named Lydia today who now says that we are not entitled to the refund that THEY offered to us. She also told us that they had closed the file AFTER they said they would refund us the $50 without telling us. Worst customer service EVER. We made a total of 5-6 phone calls to U-Haul and it's the same crap every time. read more

Rented 26' truck, pick up was quick, friendly, and helpful. Total trip was 62 kilometres. Put $15 gas in truck. Much surprised to find a $43 charge for gas on my bill...most disingenuous...told I must have let the truck idle to use gas, and did not fill to pre rental level. Was treated on phone as if I was stupid...will be taking this to arbitration, as they can put imaginary return level of gas on your contract. Let me start by saying that I rarely take the time to write reviews. But, my experience with U-Haul has been so terrible that it has encouraged me to write this one. After this experience, I recommend that you avoid U-Haul if at all possible. Competitors of U-Haul include Budget and Penske. My Drop-Off Experience On May 24, 2014, I drove the truck and Dolly TD6988G to U-Haul Oakfield at approximately 11:00AM to drop it off as per the Modified Contract. U-Haul Oakfield is a gas station which also serves as a 24-hour U-Haul drop-off location according to the U-Haul website at www.uhaul.com. I walked into U-Haul Oakfield and informed the representative (the "U-Haul Dealer") that I was returning the truck and Dolly TD6988G (collectively, the "U-Haul Equipment"). The U-Haul Dealer demanded that I uncouple the truck from Dolly TD6988G otherwise he was going to refuse the return of the U-Haul Equipment. I was baffled by this demand. One would think U-Haul would be responsible for uncoupling the U-Haul Equipment at its authorized drop off location especially in light of the fact that U-Haul had been responsible for coupling the U-Haul Equipment at its authorized pick up location. I told the U-Haul Dealer that I had no tools, means or specific knowledge for uncoupling the U-Haul Equipment and that I thought it was U-Haul's responsibility in any event. The U-Haul Dealer proceeded to yell at me and refused the return of the U-Haul Equipment. I told the U-Haul Dealer that he was a rude person and stopped communicated with him. At that point, I called U-Haul customer service for a resolution to this problem. I spoke to two different women at U-Haul Customer Service: Lydia and Dawn Mack ("U-Haul Customer Service"). U-Haul Customer Service told me that if I could not comply with the U-Haul Dealer's demands of uncoupling the U-Haul Equipment on my own then I would be required to return the U-Haul Equipment to a different drop off location other than U-Haul Oakfield. I told U-Haul Customer Service that I had not anticipated a sudden change of drop off location, was not in a position to be able to uncouple the U-Haul Equipment and was not required to do any of this as per the Modified Contract. Furthermore, I told U-Haul Customer Service that since U-Haul Oakfield was a 24 hour drop off location, I should be able to park the U-Haul Equipment there, leave the keys in the truck and have fulfilled my duties. U-Haul Customer Service told me, incorrectly, that U-Haul Oakfield was not a 24 hour drop off location and that I would not be able to do this. U-Haul Customer Service then told me that it was a provision of the Modified Contract that U-Haul could, in their sole discretion, unilaterally and apparently without notice, change the drop off location in the Modified Contract. I asked U-Haul Customer Service to show me where this was contained within the Modified Contract. When they were unable to do this, U-Haul Customer Service proceeded to tell me that this was "policy". I told them that they were "making things up". At this point U-Haul Customer Service, and Dawn Mack specifically, told me that I could leave the U-Haul Equipment at U-Haul Oakfield but threatened me with additional fees not originally contemplated by the Modified Contract (the "Additional Fees"). She told me not to worry because "we have your credit card." Ultimately, I parked the U-Haul Equipment on the street near U-Haul Oakfield. U-Haul called me about an hour later asking where I had left the keys in the truck. I told them that the keys were in the back of the truck and asked how much the alleged Additional Fees were but they had already hung up the phone on me. This has been my experience with U-Haul so far. If I knew that I would have to endure yelling, lying, delay tactics and misinformation as part of the Rental, I would not have chosen U-Haul in the first place. I have escalated this issue to U-Haul upper management and will be interested to see if they have any concern with the way the business is being operated and what steps they will take, if any. read more

Customer service at this location is BRUTAL - especially 'Petunia' (if that is her real name - she's the heavy one with glasses and facial piercing). The lot attendant gave me false info and when I tried to rectify it with Petunia she officiously told me to contact the 800 number if I had any complaints. It wasn't what she said, but how she said it so glibly. It was as if she was very pleased to be so purposefully unhelpful. Her colleague also piped in to repeat the same scripted response. This was the 5th time I rented from this location and I witnessed other customers receiving the same treatment when something went wrong. The miserable attitude seems to be endemic. Bought a utility trailer and needed a hitch installed to pick it up. Made a confirmed appointment for 9 am sunday morning. Arrived at 845 and was told quite rudely that they didn't open for 15 minutes. Came back in at 9 only to fine 15 people standing in line with one person behind the counter. Waited in line for 30 minutes, only to be told that there was no mechanic available because he had worked too many days. Too late to go elsewhere. This is absolutely the last time I deal with this rude, inefficient company. The customer always comes last with these people. read more

This company is an absolute disaster!! I originally rented a 15'' truck for a Saturday morning pick-up with no issues, but on Friday afternoon I received a voicemail indicating that they were out of 15'' trucks but that they could put me into a 17'' truck instead at the same price if I was able to call back to reserve. Ultimately I called back and was told that both the 15'' and 17'' vehicles were all taken for the time I wanted, but that a truck was available for an hour later on Saturday morning which I agreed to. Once I got off the phone I received a confirmation text with the incorrect information, indicating that my truck was now reserved but at a time in the early afternoon on Saturday, not the original morning as I had just finished discussing with the agent moments before. From there things went completely downhill! I called U-Haul's reservation/customer service line a total of five times over 90 minutes to talk through my experience and hopefully find some resolution, and was regularly re-directed to other departments located across North America who could not provide any kind of customer service or continuity to the discussions on my file, and who regularly told me to call numbers that were closed for the day. A number of times while they tried to re-direct me my call was ultimately dropped forcing me to call back in to undertake the whole process once again from the start. At one point I got into a heated argument with one of the reservation agents when I said that all I wanted was the vehicle I had reserved to be at the location I had requested, to which she indicated that this was somehow my fault and that the best U-Haul could do was direct me to the customer review website so that I could write my complaint down so that it could be addressed at a later date. Yeah, I need my truck for when I booked it, not for my review to be assessed next month when it is convenient to take a look at these things, U-Haul! Ultimately, after having enough, I called back and cancelled my reservation that fortunately U-Haul allowed me to do without any costs and booked a seamless, efficient rental with Penske in Calgary with no issues. U-Haul, I am surprised that you are still around in a market economy. I would have thought that your complete incompetence and lack of business acumen and customer service would have weeded you out decades ago. read more

stay far far away from this company. they charged me for gas even though i provides them with a picture proof of a full tank with the miles with which i had left the car. also provided them with the receipt of the fill up from the husky gas station 300 meters away from this location. the girl on the phone was rude and condescending. never ever am i going to do business with these people. If you do rent a car from them make sure you take a picture of the dash and shoot a video of the car to have picture proof. read more
