The place is as traditional and cute as expected, not far from the I44, and easy to find. The food is good, the sauces are flavorful, and the portions are big. We shared the three-meat dinner (brisket, ribs, and chicken) with baked beans and coleslaw. We have leftovers for dinner! Honestly, I'm underwhelmed... I was expecting more. The meat is tender but not falling off the bone. The cream corn I really liked. Why is it called Texas toast? It's just toasted bread with nothing else on it. The. sides were just as good and the cobbler was perfect. Service was excellent, the meat is cut in front of you (the meat cutter gave me tender fatty brisket as requested and brought out a fresh brisket just for me. In town for the day- some friends took me here. So glad they did! Great smoked meat. I had a 2 item sandwich with pulled pork and a hot link. The sandwich was good on its own, but there sauces put it over the top. Their regular sauce was a rich and sweet BBQ sauce that was perfect. Their spicy sauce (I forgot the name) was equally as good or better than their original. Both outstanding. The rib was smoked perfectly, came off the bone just right. Also great with either sauce. The mac and cheese was rich and cheddary. Was glad I got it. Great comfort food. I also ordered the jalapeño creamed corn. My wife and I were driving through Amarillo and decided to stop for lunch and we both glad we did. I love the layout of the restaurant. You order your food from the person who cuts and prepares your food. They cut the meat right in front of you. Very nice people behind the counter, Texas hospitality at its best. I was a passing-through-town cross country traveler and was lucky enough to wander into Tyler's. It was great BBQ-had the bbq beef sandwich which was done to perfection. The beef was tender, smoky but not overpowering with a smoky flavor. The bbq sauce wasn't vinegar based (like NC), which again, is perfection. Tyler happened to be in the house and stopped by each table to check and make sure every diner was happy which was so impressive. Wish he would open a restaurant in St. George, Utah! Visiting Amarillo, I was really in the mood for a good barbecue. Tyler's came highly recommended, and although they were running out of some of their entrée items, we still had a great meal. The brisket, to begin with, was so tender and fall apart delicious that it really carried the meal. Pork ribs and sausage had that same smoked flavor and were good as well. Unfortunately since it was near closing, they were out of their ribs. We were informed that we would need to get them when they opened in the morning because they run out. The ribs were a little better than the brisket. They were moist, but could have used more seasoning. The two sides I ordered were standard. Also, my plate did not come with onions and pickles I am used to seeing at most bbq places. Overall Tyler's is a good option if you are craving bbq in Northwest Texas. Tyler's BBQ was recommended by some of the people I met in Amarillo. I was excited to head over and give it a try! The smells were amazing, the people were so friendly, the prices were reasonable. I ordered the three meat plate with brisket, pork ribs, and jalapeño cheese sausage. It came with two sides. I ordered slaw and a green Chile chili. I'll start with the green Chili because it was spectacular. All I can say is that it was spectacular! I would go back just for that! The jalapeño cheese sausage was pretty good. The sausage had a snap to it and it had a tasty spicy bite! The pork ribs were also very good. Their flavor was great, they were perfectly cooked and had the perfect amount of smoke. Unfortunately, the brisket wasn't that good, in my opinion. I thought it had too much smoke, it was pretty dry and I needed bbq sauce to add flavor and cover some of the smoke flavor. It left me burping smoke for the next two days. Not so pleasant! Overall I thought Tyler's was pretty good, but I don't think I'd do the brisket again. The brisket prep is amazing. Very few establishments can match the brisket prep and final product. There are possibly more smoky or spiced brisket, but Tyler's brisket is on another level when it comes to texture and ultimate savoury goodness. Having visited several of the Texas' best barbecue joints, I must admit, I'm always a little skeptical of any restaurant located outside of the perfect BBQ Triangle that includes the Central Texas towns of Llano and Lockhart. Tyler's most certainly deserves to be in the top 5 of any "Best Texas BBQ list", if not top 3. Their brisket was some of the absolute best I've ever had, with a perfect bark, beautiful smoke ring and decadently tender and moist. Their jalapeno sausage was excellent as well, with a great heat level. The beef rib ranked right up there with my all-time favorite, Black's in Lockhart. Excuse me while I wipe the drool from my keyboard. My only complaint is they are closed on Sundays and Mondays, so if you're traveling through Amarillo on either of those days, you won't be able to get your fix. read more

Me and my boyfriend are visiting and we saw great reviews about this place online, so we decided to give it a try. I ordered the chopped brisket with jalapeño corn and some peach cobbler. My boyfriend also ordered the two meat dinner with the sliced brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage. I tried the jalapeño corn first and it was really good. However, everything else was a bit lacking. The brisket and the cobbler were luke warm and almost cold right after getting it. Same as with my boyfriend's. Overall it was kind of a disappointing experience as we did not finish hardly anything on our plate for about $50.
