The room itself was large, which surprised me because I was traveling solo. It was clean & quite lovely. Some of the impartial reviews are ridiculous. My room was updated, quiet, & the beds were comfortable. Yes, beds, I had two beds in my room. The breakfast was more than I expected & delicious. I would definitely stay here again. The location is an absolute dream. It's a five minute walk to the underground (tube) & the train station. The underground was difficult because it's not handicapped accessible. If you cross the street to the train station, it's easier to take the tube. So many souvenir shops on each street, which was overwhelming for a shopaholic like me lol. Many good restaurants, markets, & it's 20 minutes by tube or bus to Central London. Seriously, this is a must place to stay. You won't regret it. A word to the wise, invest in a high quality hooded rain poncho & keep it with you 24/7.

Could hear my neighbor every time they used the toilet! 3) Extremely small room; smallest I've ever stayed in! 4) Extremely hard beds and pillows. 5) Breakfast is bare bones; just toast, boiled eggs, and cereal. If you are an American tourist in London for the first time, this hotel might be a very rude awakening. You have a few lessons to learn about international travel. You might as well learn the lessons at this very nice small hotel. Lesson 1: In London a large hotel room is small. A small hotel room is really really small. A very small hotel room may be beyond your ability to compute. Lesson 2: In London a large hotel bathroom is very small. etc. See lesson 1 above. Lesson 3: Why doesn't the air-conditioning work? You have to pay extra for it, that is why. Lesson 4: Some of these small good hotels have a breakfast included in the price. Lesson 5: Where is the ice machine? Uhh... Eventually you'll get it. Olympic House Hotel: The Good. 1. Close walking distance from Paddington Station. The Heathrow Express Train from the airport is non stop to Paddington. If you have a suitcase on wheels you are good. No taxi no problem. Pleasant 10 min walk if you are slow. 2. Moderate price for London includes a nice serve yourself breakfast. 3. Close by tube station with connections to anywhere in London. 4. Lots of near-by restaurants and small shops and grocery for buying very cheap sandwiches and drinks. 5: Clean rooms that are well maintained. 6. Quiet. 7. Some rooms allow sleeping for 3 people. This is not available at many hotels. The Bad: 1. Poor ventilation in the rooms. Must open the window a bit for fresh air. Just the way it is: 1. Must pay a surcharge for the AC and internet. 2. Room size.Bathroom size. Previously discussed 3. No parking. You are not going to be driving in the congestion zone anyway. I readily recommend this Hotel based on a total of 9 nights experience in two different rooms. Compared to other budget hotels in London, this one has a lot going for it. There are several Hotels in the Paddington Station area. Do some online comparisons to help you decide.

We booked a double room but they put us in the four person family room with a double bed and bunk beds. I paid £366 ($492) for the three nights. Pros: It's very clean (though my son said I should mention there was a cigarette burn hole in his bedspread). Friendly front desk worker. Excellent location. Beautiful, quiet yet lively neighborhood. Two blocks from Paddington station and two blocks from Hyde Park, and a block from the excellent Victoria Pub. We arrived in the morning and were able to leave our bags with the front desk worker. Check in was any time after 2pm. Cons: No view from the window in our room, just a claustrophobic bunch of roof tiles and other apartment windows. No elevator. We were on the second floor so not a big deal, but I feel bad for the other guests on higher floors. They advertise themselves as a bed and breakfast but no breakfast is served. They advertise toiletries are provided, but this amounted to hand soap by the bathroom sink and an unlabeled bottle of liquid soap in the shower. The rooms can be a bit small and there is very little room to put your toiletries in the bathroom. The large bowl-shaped sink takes up most of the counter so you are forced to squeeze in your stuff uber and around the bowl. Sadly, the faucet BARELY makes it over the edge of the bowl so when you wash your hands, water goes everywhere and ends up spreading around the counter and gets your toiletries wet! Ugh!! That one detail is definitely not up to the normal Hotel Indigo standard in my opinion. Whoever designed the bathroom should never be hired again! This should be a 3 star review based on that. But.... The saving grace was the front desk and the maintenance guy. We quickly discovered that our safe didn't work. The front desk got the maintenance guy to our room quickly and he reset it. When we were ready to leave, it failed again so they summoned the maintenance guy again. He reset it but it failed again. So he proceeded to replace the safe. Those things are HEAVY!!! The poor guy had to lug it up from downstairs, unbox it, take out the old one, install the new one and then lug the old one back downstairs!! This guy was sweating profusely but handled everything so professionally. So kudos to him and the front desk for making this happen so quickly, thus the 4 stars!!

I absolutely loved this hotel. From its location to amenities and the wonderful staff. I almost…read moredon't want to review it just to keep people away. First off, the location. It's a 5 minute walk from Paddington Station and The Central Line. You can take the Heathrow Express directly to Paddington station, which is a 15 minute train ride. Considering this was my first solo trip to the UK, the convenience of this was fantastic. Also since it's off the road a bit, there's no noisy road traffic. It's also a short walk to Hyde Park if you're into that and a 10 minute walk to Kensington Palace. It's close to transportation without the noise of transportation! Amenities: I don't know how to describe this place. It's the opposite of modern, but not outdated. Traditional maybe? They ended up placing me in the King Suite, and let me tell you, this made all the difference in the world. So much room, an insanely comfortable 4 post bed. Since the breakfast room is small, you can opt to have your breakfast in your room instead. You just ask for a breakfast card, fill it out, and hang it on the door knob the night before. There's free wi-fi, but you do have to log in every time you use it and the connection can be spotty if you're skyping home. Other basics: minibar fridge, hair dryer, and toiletries. No iron, and nowhere to plug the hair dryer in the bathroom. You're forced to use it over by the desk, where at least there's a mirror. Staff: So great, friendly and accommodating. Things to be aware of. There is room noise. You will probably hear people upstairs flushing a toilet or showering or water gushing through the walls. It's an old building, so be aware of that. If you're a light sleeper, you may want to either pack some earplugs or stay somewhere else. For me, the loveliness of the hotel, location, and staff trump the noise. For a girl who likes to travel alone, this hotel feels like home and I would be happy stay here again.

They helped us with our bags to our room, and informed us of their offerings of afternoon tea and breakfast. They even had a jar of cookies to welcome us. There was free wifi included in the room rate, which is always a plus. The elevators were significantly on the smaller side, so if you're carrying luggage, you may need to take more than one trip. The service was great, the location was amazing, and the stay was wonderful.

In fact, if I were in London for more than one night, I would likely have switched hotels. But lets start with the positive stuff: PROS The area is unbeatable. I didn't even need Google maps to find it! Just knowing there was a park right outside, I strolled along for a few minutes from Paddington station, bought some souvenirs from one of the many nearby shops and once I saw the park, I immediately found the hotel. This is amazing, because Paddington station is where the Heathrow Express train stops from the airport. Also, as I had to catch the first Heathrow Express back to the airport the next morning at 4:30am, I did not feel at all weird or unsafe walking around outside so early. The room was small but lovely, the staff very nice and helpful and luggage storage very safe and efficient. I did notice some rumbling (apparently from the trains nearby), but nothing like what other guests have posted; then again, I was on the 4th floor (and yes, it's a steep walk up the stairs, but come on people, get some aerobic exercise, geez!) CONS The room was COLD. As I was fighting a cold and having been outside all day in the crazy, ever-changing London weather, I looked forward to just coming back to my room and warming up in bed. That was not to be... The temperature inside the room was the same as the temperature outside and at no point during my stay did I notice the heater having been turned on. Yes, it's spring, but different people have different needs as far as room temperature. So that was a big disappointment. If you absolutely have to stay here, bring a small portable heater, at least. There was no internet (as advertised on the website)!!! Because this happened to me once before years ago, I now always bring my own global WiFi hotspot - so that saved the day. Otherwise, this could have been a disaster. WiFi is an essential utility, do I even need to make that point? I noticed something about buying WiFi access as I was leafing through the hotel booklet, getting ready to leave - unacceptable... So overall a pleasant but rather disappointing stay.

The bedroom and bathroom were very small and no shampoo or soap is provided, so we had to go buy our own. With the size of the room it should at least heat well, but the one we received had a window with a broken latch that leaked air from between the panes. It was the middle of the winter so this meant the room was very cold even when the radiator was turned all the way up. I asked the receptionist about it and he came to check, then because the air flow was minimal he said there was nothing wrong with it and he would get a technician to come check it out "later". I tried to place a wet towel over the crack in the hopes that it will slow the airflow in the meantime. Breakfast is worth the £8/day price, mostly because it is low quality with little variety. The dining rooms got crowded on weekend mornings, and it wasn't unusual to have teenagers cutting in the queue and acting rude. I could tell some of the other guests were also disappointed in the meal. At least the common spaces were clean and the Paddington neighborhood is very convenient. The Tube runs right behind the building so on the ground floor the room rattles when it goes by. But that was kind of comforting and the train stopped running at midnight. All of this said, I wouldn't really care if it was just a truly cheap hotel, but it's still too much money for what it is . There are much cheaper accommodations in the city and this one is NOT worth the price point. We also just came from a great hotel in the center of Edinburgh which put this one to shame at a way better price. I hope that a technician does come by some day to fix the broken windows that have so many complaints about them, but I have my doubts.
