4/5 since the store didn't have a wide selection of bikes in my size (small women) at the store. That was the only down side! I couldn't see the colors or test ride any women's bikes in my size for what I was looking for. I wanted a casual bike, yet good on performance for most terrains. Cruisers are cute but much more clunky and heavy, not great for hills and exercise. I ended up purchasing a male Trek fx 7.2 bike today. Just for reference I am 5'3-5'4, and I was fitted to a 17.5 sized men's bike. Unfortunately they didn't have the women's version, which varies slightly in different colors for the accents (which wasn't a huge deal, since today was "tax free" and I purchased this bike for $499 out the door). If I had to place an order for the women's version, it would have been the newer 2017 model, which is the exact same bike (the older model were out of smalls for the women's) for $549 including tax ~$590. Hence, hundred dollars more. Jonathan helped me with the entire process and I would give him a 5/5 rating in service! He was very patient and friendly. Helped me search the system for different options and colors. He seemed to be very honest and didn't try to up sell me any bikes out of my price range. I am ready to hit the pavement with my new wheels. I walked into TWOP to educate myself about what bike would be best for me. All my questions were answered without bias. I was guided through the process that lead me to a decision I was very comfortable with. In addition to a new TREK Domane I thought it was time for a new helmet. I liked the idea of having a light on my helmet. (Safety first) Who doesn't love innovation? Basically, between lights, a helmet, matching water bottles and cages, and a few more things I am good to go! I was again surprised by the service plan when purchasing my bike. There's a program for tune ups for customers who purchase bikes at TWOP. I'm eager to get fitted so I can join the shop ride next Saturday. I was informed the ride is great for beginners and advanced riders who enjoy the group atmosphere. If you're looking for answers, need a tune up, have questions...really anything! I went in today to ask for some help and advice on buying my boyfriend a mountain bike for his birthday! I knew I wouldn't be able to afford a bike here, but Craig was awesome and took the time to look at other options with me (knowing very well I probably wouldn't be purchasing one here). I left and went to another shop in the area where I also had great service. I decided I wanted to purchase myself a new beach cruiser and thought why not just get my boyfriend one too so we could enjoy cruising together. I could've purchased a couple at the other shop and decided instead to come back here. Will helped me out with the whole new setup of the two bikes! He was so kind and always addressed me by my name which really made me feel like he cared. Lily was super sweet and helped me get my bikes into the car! I did not wake up today with the plan of purchasing two beach cruisers.... I'm SO GLAD I did. My bf and I already rode them to grab some dinner! Writing good dialogue is difficult. When done well it not only shows you what sort of person the narrator is but also gives you telltale signs about the setting and feelings such a setting evokes. Well written dialogue propels the story without need for an author's narrative. With this in mind I present the following: * Standing in line for service, I remark on the nice bike of the girl in line in front of me and she responds with "It's an old bike that we had painted and refurbished here but they did something to it. I can't get it to ride straight anymore". * While filling out service forms I'm within 3-feet of two employees as one sneers to the other "We're really busy today because everybody's returning with bikes that you worked on". * After telling me about a special offer that I'd missed by a few days (and which I proceeded to go ahead and request) an employee tells me "I'm gonna get in trouble for mentioning it." * After waiting patiently to request the special offer of one manager, the request gets escalated to another manager who comes out, looks my way, then returns to the back service area. Five to ten minutes pass and I catch his eye when I again see him. "Are you (insert name here)?" I shout. With this, he yells to another employee "Give it to them. Give them the deal". * After getting "the deal", a service employee continues to work on a bike for which no owner is present. "I'll get to you when I finish with this" he grudgingly says. * At his encouragement and because he continues to work on another bike, I walk around the store searching for something to purchase to offset the money being saved as a result of getting the deal extended to me. * When I return, he's helping someone else and doesn't appear to have finished working on the bike he said he needed to finish working on before helping me. At last, that transaction concludes and it is time to write up the paperwork for my pair of bikes. "They'll be ready on September 5th" (8 days from now) I'm told, at which point I'll no longer be in town. This might not be the most scintillating dialogue but it does the job that all good dialogue does: It tells me what sort of employees work there, how those employees are treated, what they think of their customers, and what sort of service they provide. In fairness, the front of shop, where bicycles are sold, seems fine but that "service" area is not. 45 minutes wasted and they couldn't have cared less about me, my time, or my bikes. read more

My man and I relocated here from the east coast and decided that even though we already have bikes, we needed cruisers. We both got Electra 7 speed townies outfitted with bells and baskets and some locks. The really positive things that stood out at this shop: *We walked in a few minutes before close to make the purchase, and they stayed late to outfit the bikes so we could use them that evening. Took about 45 minutes. In the past, when I've had baskets put on, I've had to wait hours or days. Awesome! *The prices are very fair. We had literally purchased the exact same bike as a gift for someone the week before in NY and paid $70 more. Great value. *Complimentary bike maintenance workshops the last Wednesday of every month. I'll definitely be there. *12 month no interest financing, if you need it. I've never seen a shop offer this service before. They didn't mention anything about a 30 day follow up service or free tune up after a year, which most bike shops offer standard. I forgot to ask and am not sure if this is included. I also did notice that their pricing for service seemed on the steep side compared to what I'm used to paying. For those reasons I knocked off a star. Otherwise, great inventory, great prices, fast friendly service. read more

Good service and a friendly staff. This bike shop has had better days but all in all I think it's a good place and fits nicely here in Costa Mesa. Again, the staff is very friendly and ushally can answer all of your questions. The service department stays very busy and I think does a good job. The decor is great, lots of old and unique bicycle memorabilia all over the place. My biggest complaint about this place is the bikes that they sell. I'm not a big fan of the brands and or the quality. Back in the day they offered different brands and better quality bikes. I find myself buying my bikes at other bike stores and then serving everything here. I simply wish the this place offered a better selection. read more

5 stars isn't high enough praise for TWOP bike shop, and specifically for Calvin and Will. Yesterday was my youngest daughter's 6th birthday. We had one present for her...a big girl bike, with her two favorite colors, red (her new fav color) and purple (her previous fav color). It was THE thing she wanted for her birthday, and the only present we had for her. My husband and I started putting the bike together the night before her birthday only to find that there was: no seat, no seat post, no part to hold the handlebars on, no bolts for the basket, and no brake pads!!!! This just topped off the most horrible year ever. I raced the bike over to TWOP and of course everyone needs bike work done right now, so the soonest they could get the bike completed was going to be next Tuesday, July 21. I ended up buying some parts and my husband was going to do some repairs at home. They didn't have the seat post or seat in stock, so I put the bike in my car and was preparing to drive to another bike shop to find the next set of parts when Will ran to my car and said they had found something that might work! Calvin took a bike seat off of another kid's bike (the only one in the store, I think!), they sold it to me and installed it on my daughter's bike!!! Then they hooked up her brakes, found some bolts and connected her basket, and fixed her handlebars. I'm sure I looked really silly tearing up in the middle of a bike shop, but it was the kindest thing that someone could have done for our family on a day, and during a several month period when everything seems to be going very badly. Thank you to Two Wheels One Planet, Calvin and Will for saving the day and saving my daughter's birthday, and for truly providing the most OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE ever!! At first I was gonna give this place maybe a 2 or 3, but waited for my situation o resolve and am comfortable bumping them up to a 4. I'm a regular indoor cyclist, both at the UCI ARC and more recently at Full Psycle. After a few years of indoor cycling, I decided that it was time to invest in a decent pair of cycling shoes. Full Psycle recommends the LOOK compatible cleats, so that's what I had in mind when I walked in the shop. First time I went, it took FOREVER to get anyone to even notice that I was pacing the shoe section for awhile (probably around 20min or so). Finally got some help, though I didn't really feel confident in the help I got. I ended up buying a pair of shoes for myself at $89 (be sure to mention Full Psycle for a 15% discount), and a pair of LOOK cleats. I had no knowledge of "float" in cleats, so I just had someone install them and was on my way. Tested out my new shoes on a stationary bike and was surprised at how much my foot was able to move while clipped in. I felt like I had no stability at all. In addition, the screws were not tight at all and as I was unclipping, the entire cleat shifted almost a full inch. Needless to say, I needed to go back to Two Wheels. After researching "float", I realized that the cleats I bought had 9° float. I wanted 0-3° max. Armed with this knowledge, I spoke with Dave about getting cleats that had much less float, or were fixed. Two Wheels did not have it in stock, but Dave was more than happy to order me a pair. When the pair came in (a couple days later), I went in and Dave helped me install them and made sure they were TIGHT. He was very professional, yet personable. That same night, I tested out the cleats at Full Psycle, and they were perfect. I'm very happy with the outcome. At first I was going to give them 2-3 stars because I thought the "float" was their fault, but I realized that I just had insufficient knowledge of "float" and that was on me, not them. After speaking with Dave about it more thoroughly, I got exactly what I needed. read more

December 2020 was the first time I had visited the store and as long as I live in California this will be the only bike shop that I'll give my business. The moment I walked in I was greeted by Jonathan and within a few minutes he was available to help me with all my questions. I was originally there to look at a Rail 9 but ultimately bought a Rail 5. Even though I decided to go with a lower (still great) model Jonathan's attention towards me never changed. My boyfriend and I had been to 4-5 other bike shops and after the sad realization that Electra does not make a 1-speed in yellow, I went with a bright pink Electra Beach Cruiser! I added on a cute bell and a rack in the back (sad it was extra) and also sad they don't make the racks to match the bike but none the less- I am so happy with my purchase! The bike was $10 cheaper than we saw anyplace else, and it was 10% off! Accessories were 15% off too (at the time) I think a week before Christmas. Everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable and eager to help. Long story short, I am the proud owner of my first Electra Beach Cruiser and so happy that I didn't just choose a Walmart bike! $250 well spent Thanks again babe! After researching the best seat pack for my race bike, I stopped by to purchase the Bontrager Mini Pack by TREK. The sticker price on it was a few $$ more than the full retail price on the TREK website which is usually the highest retail price that you would pay for something. I showed the manager of the store the printout from TREK who made a price adjustment to TREK's price, and I purchased the pack. It's working out well thus far. The store also supports the Bike Club of Irvine (BCI) which is a good reason to give them your business if possible. BCI is a great community bike club for all skill levels. read more

I wish I could say better things about this store. They are very friendly and knowledgeable with the initial selling of bikes. I bought a moderately higher-end road bike, which I love but really could've bought it anywhere Treks are sold. What I'm very disappointed in is the service dept. I had asked to have a missing part installed when I came back for the free 90-day tune up. Once I got home, the part was not the correct one and wasn't properly installed--it actually was falling off. Rather than waste another trip there, I got the correct part on my own and installed it myself. Furthermore, the 90-day service they did was lame--rear shifting was off, and they didn't lube the chain. It appears all they did was wipe down the bike and put air in the tires. I'm pretty proficient at working on bikes, so I tuned the shifting myself and went through the bike's bolts--many were over-torqued. It's too bad their service dept does such shoddy work. read more

They have excellent customer service. Sometimes they even cover more than 1 person at a time, keeping everyone happy simultaneous. This allows you to be educated on your questions then consider the information while not feeling pressure to make a decision. I've been in at least a handful of times however I didn't check in. I remembered this time! I own a beach cruiser (duh), road bike, and a mountain bike. All have been here to be seen by the bike doctors. When we have a bit more mileage on us, we'll be back again. I had a great experience buying a bike with Peggy this weekend. I am a novice and wanted a hybrid that I can cruise around on but also do some rides with my boyfriend, who has a road bike. Peggy showed me several options and was respectful of my price range. She was very open and helpful in her descriptions and comparisons. I've been coming to Two Wheels One Planet for all of bike and service needs since I moved to Costa Mesa in 2016 and I have not yet been dissapointed. Knowledgeable friendly staff who always point you in the right direction. I want to give a special shout out to David in the service department who went above and beyond on my most recent tune up. My bike had rusty spokes for quite some time from many hours of trainer rides on #Zwift. I was told by a few people that my best option would be just to replace the wheels altogether, as there was no way to remove the rust and painting would be expensive. I have an older Trek Madone with Shimano first generation DTI electric shifting which Shimano has ceased making replacement parts as they want you to purchase their new generation stuff, thanks Shimano. With that the battery holder on my bike need replacing and after scouring every internet resource I could find was not successful. I came in and spoke with their service manager, Jonathon, and while I was standing there he found one over in the UK. We ordered it on the spot and 2 weeks later I have a "brand new OEM" replacement. I am back on the road. I don't know of any other facility who would take the time and assist me on a part for which they were not going to make any profit. Can't recommend them enough. read more

I brought my Cannondale in for a tune up last week with a pick up day of Saturday after 5 pm. I arrived on Sunday around 2 pm. The manager, Jonathan Wilson, said that the bike was not ready. Before I could get a word out, Jonathan asked, "What can I do to make this right?" Well I needed the bike to ride to work on Monday and I could not wait around for the bike to get serviced. He offered to drop the bike off at my house THAT EVENING so I would have it for work on Monday. Jonathan met me at the exact time and place that I needed the bike and apologized again for the delay. These days, it seems that very few businesses care enough about their customers satisfaction but this business cares! Jonathan, the assistant manager, went above and beyond the call of duty here. Just asking "What can I do to make this right" was the antithesis of "I don't know what else to tell ya man" which is all too common. Keep up the good work. read more

Very no pressure explanations, very knowledgeable. After a little more online research, I went back and bought the bike Jonathan thought would be ideal and could not be happier with my purchase. Having lived in the area for years, I've seen this shop hundreds, if not thousands of times, but had never been in.
