This is a great taco shack right on the softball fields /lake shore bike path/ next to Igor's bike Shack. I've ordered the pastor, steak, and chicken tacos and all were great . What sets this place apart from every other taco place in town is their free topping bar. You can add peppers, cabbage, pickled jalapeños, 4 salsas, cilantro, onion, and more. Every taco stand should offer this because it elevates the flavor profile times ten. Tacos run $3.50 to 4 for steak. Great tacos in the park. Found this gem while enjoying the Lakefront but now go just for the tacos. Family run business and everything is homemade including the different salsas that are made fresh every day throughout the day. My favorites were the pastor, chicken, chorizo, and steak tacos. They also have burritos and quesadillas, Mexican sodas, snacks, and ice cream treats to fortify your walk in the park or sports drinks for your bike ride. These are literally the best tacos I have had in Chicago. The al pastor and pollo were my favorite. They were only $3 each, cooked to order, and they have quite a bit of meat. They also allow you to top it with several items such as onions, lettuce, peppers, salsa verde, and standard salsa. This is a great little taco stand. They also have other food options such as burritos and drink choices such as jaritos. I highly recommend this place and will be sad when it closes down for the winter months. read more

Wow, what a hidden gem. Ordered two tacos - steak and chicken. The meat on both were extremely well seasoned and were moist. Cooked to order. You get your own fixing bar that they put out after you order if the place isn't packed (nice it doesn't sit out in the heat.) Chops and salsa were simple but awesome. Chips are freshly cooked and salsa was sell made. They add fresh onions and cilantro after you order. $18 for 4 tacos, a drink and chips/salsa is a steal for the quality. Spontaneous trip to the area today around lunch time. I smelled the tacos cooking from my walk over from the parking lot and so glad we sat down and ordered a mango smoothie (so incredibly fresh!) a steak taco and chorizo one, a chicken cheese quesadilla. With a strawberry ice cream pop to go. Got complimentary watermelon. My kids and I left stuffed and I can say some of the best tacos I ever had in Chicago! Yum! So glad I stopped to try the fab tacos, friendly safe service & wonderful outside patio as a break during my bike ride on the lakefront today. Had 2 tacos: al pastor & chicken. Both terrific. Juicy, flavorful meat on the standard double corn tortilla and your choice of homemade toppings for $3 ea. They have burritos, quesadillas, beverages, ice cream & Outshine fruit popsicles too. After ordering & paying, I sat at a socially distanced table under an umbrella as they brought me 2 slices of watermelon (saved them for dessert - so refreshing). It's family owned & operated and they are doing everything right safety wise with a smile! It's right next to the bike repair hut on the bike trail south of the tennis courts. Bike racks right in front & they even have bike locks if you need one. Such a great little place to grab a tasty bite and relax before biking home. read more

Of course, it sparked my curiosity and the next day I went to look for this place. So the HYPE is definitely TRUE. I ordered two tacos to test it out, the steak and the pastor - it was DELICIOUS. I ordered two more tacos, the chorizo and the veggie - it also did not disappoint. I tried their smoothies too, the banana berry and the mango - again DELICIOUS. My fiance and I were waiting for a spot to open up at the nearby Waveland Park Tennis Courts and decided to stroll down the road a bit. We stumbled upon Two Wheel Tacos and decided to give it a shot - my fiance is a big fan of street tacos in general. They had a nice outdoor seating setup with only a few tables, all were occupied. As soon as one opened up, a lady employee came out to wipe down the table and offered us some complimentary chips and salsa, along with smoothie samples, while we waited for our meal (both delicious!). I got chicken tacos and my fiance got the steak. They grill up the meat fresh and then give you the option to pick toppings. I'm personally not a huge fan of corn tortillas, but today they served the meal very well. Together with the ingredients, the tacos were perfect and packed with flavor. Incredible blend and the meal left us feeling very satisfied with our choice! The restaurant also has ice cream desserts, beverages, burritos and enchiladas (to name the items I can recall). Tacos were $3 each. We really had no complaints and for a spontaneous visit I was pleased enough to write this review. What a great addition to Waveland Fields. Softball Sunday has been so much fun this season, and a big reason why is the super tasty and affordable tacos they are serving up at Two Wheel.
