Not a brewery. Not a winery. This meadery is fermented honey "wine" which turns out a bit more like a cider in my opinion. Went on a Saturday evening and it was mildly busy with about 6 other people at different tables - but again, every business is a bit less busy during covid times. Ordered two tasting flights of one of everything! Seemed like the best option when there were two of us who wanted to try it all! I only found one of the meads pleasant enough to say I would drink a full glass but my partner found two or three. They are earthy on the pallet and definitely lean into any spice or fruit added. Worth a try. Overall, clean tables and helpful staff. Small space though and a bit weird of a location since the building is in the industrial side of town.

Visited this unique business on a Saturday mid-afternoon. I was the only customer there at the time. The meadery has been in business in a quiet industrial park for two years. Not being all that familiar with the different styles of mead, I ordered a fight of four samples for $12. The varieties of mead on tap here are vastly different, ranging from dry and almost tart to sweet and fruity. If you don't know what you want, don't be afraid to ask and they will recommend a selection for you. Bonus on winter days - hot spiced mead on Fridays!

Instead of continuing to monitor the old bush orders email address and notifying customers of this change, they allowed it to become an email black hole. After my second order attempt in months, I called them only to be told by a Brown Jug employee that "Gold Rush was supposed to notify their customers". Further, although it seemed like they were able to get into the email account after that, and I sent updated copies of my license and liquor permit, they apparently lack the capability to provide a pre-shipping subtotal... either that, or they just decided my request was unreasonable and they don't want to do business with me any more. I might never find out; they still haven't called me back, and I'd sooner order from someone else. Problem is, it looks like Liquor Stores USA North is attempting to buy up all the liquor stores in Anchorage, so you'll soon not have a choice but to put up with their bullshit.

Clearly labeled sections make finding your spirit of choice a breeze and the low shelves makes finding people even easier. My friends split up upon entering but keeping track of each other was simple enough. And the selection! Wow. I saw alcohol here that I can't find anywhere. I immediately regretted not having more time in Anchorage for surely I'd pick up more. Everyone was so friendly here too! Employees were polite but not over bearing. The only downside is the price. We were on a hunt so we went here and then immediately to other stores. We were surprised to find identical product (same brand, type, size) $10 cheaper elsewhere. For the hard to find stuff Gold Rush is the spot, but for everything else there's cheaper elsewhere.

Alaskan Burger & Brew has three locations in town and this one is located on Old Seward Hwy and E. 80th Ave. in front of Dino's Donuts. The dining room interior has a comfortable retro old-diner feel with 50's tunes playing. I wish more places were like this. The trendy metropolitan look that a lot of the newer restaurants are using for the dining area are nice, but they lack a certain comfort a classic diner look has when you're enjoying a meal. Not too many places have that feel in the fast-paced world we live in now. We chose a booth in the middle next to a stuffed Dall Sheep on display that towers over you. The employee at the front counter was friendly and very quick to take our order. I decided to go with the Mac & Cheese Burger (1/2lb. patty, bacon, macaroni & jalapeno cheese topped with melted American & Nacho cheese). My friend ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger (caramelized onions, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and house dressing). We both picked onion rings for the side. The wait was only a few minutes before our orders arrived. Luckily, we came in before several people arrived to order for the lunch rush. The burgers were delicious as other Yelpers have stated in their reviews, but the onion rings were not that great. I will choose a different side next time. Other notable items on their menu include the Flamin' Hot Cheetos Burger (1/2 lb. beef patty, Hot Cheetos, and house Nacho cheese), Burger & Brew salad (1/2lb. patty on a bed of mixed greens, avocado, pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, Swiss cheese with firecracker aioli and avocado dressing), the Octopus Dogs (beef hot dog links cut and fried to look like an octopus), and the Wild Fries topped with pico de gallo, chorizo, pickled onions, jalapenos, cheese sauce, and avocado dressing. Orders are available through GrubHub and DoorDash delivery. A sign is set up by the entrance showing their daily specials. This place is a good option for lunch during the work week.
