Shes knowledgeable and extremely warm. We loved everything. We sat in the back corner living room with couches and a fire place. Our 5 glass tasting was affordable and came with accompaniments. COVID is long gone, no one is wearing masks, but this policy remains. All I can think of is that it's some sort of anti-homeless-people initiative or some other way to keep "unsavory" people out of the store. They still are the best place for the best ethanol-containing beverages and it's their store, they can do whatever they want, I just have no idea why they are adding additional friction to the shopping experience. One other thing: no more chilled cans of wine, you'll have to go to Brown Jug for that now. Why? I have no idea. Canned wine probably has 10X the demand as Sake and...that ethanol containing beverage has a massive cooler dedicated to it.

After my second order attempt in months, I called them only to be told by a Brown Jug employee that "Gold Rush was supposed to notify their customers". Further, although it seemed like they were able to get into the email account after that, and I sent updated copies of my license and liquor permit, they apparently lack the capability to provide a pre-shipping subtotal... either that, or they just decided my request was unreasonable and they don't want to do business with me any more. I might never find out; they still haven't called me back, and I'd sooner order from someone else. Problem is, it looks like Liquor Stores USA North is attempting to buy up all the liquor stores in Anchorage, so you'll soon not have a choice but to put up with their bullshit.

It's the closest thing Alaska has to a "lower 48," (you can buy anything here) type of L store. Customer service is always efficient and fast. I appreciate the way they utilize their space. All products look rotated and organized. They have so much niche snacks here you can't easily find anywhere else. I would love to see Value Liquor start making "buzz packs," like they do in California for example, then they'd especially set themselves a part from places like Brown Jug.

The trendy metropolitan look that a lot of the newer restaurants are using for the dining area are nice, but they lack a certain comfort a classic diner look has when you're enjoying a meal. Not too many places have that feel in the fast-paced world we live in now. We chose a booth in the middle next to a stuffed Dall Sheep on display that towers over you. The employee at the front counter was friendly and very quick to take our order. I decided to go with the Mac & Cheese Burger (1/2lb. patty, bacon, macaroni & jalapeno cheese topped with melted American & Nacho cheese). My friend ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger (caramelized onions, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and house dressing). We both picked onion rings for the side. The wait was only a few minutes before our orders arrived. Luckily, we came in before several people arrived to order for the lunch rush. The burgers were delicious as other Yelpers have stated in their reviews, but the onion rings were not that great. I will choose a different side next time. La Bodega (previously Yukon Spirits) appeared on my radar because it's the only place in Anchorage that encourages buying individual bottles of beer. Per-bottle prices are usually the six-pack price divided by six, and they have a box-full of empty six-packs for convenience. Warts: the selection varies, so if you like it you'd better stock up, and they don't have sales, so Brown Jug is the better deal if there's a sale on the beer or wine you want. This being Anchorage, though, I am willing to look the other way if it means that I can have easy access to this much quality beer. Between La Bodega and the Brown Jug Warehouse, Old Seward between 36th and Tudor is definitely the place to be for fans of beer and wine. Located near Natural Pantry. There's an outside entrance, as they are open somewhat later than the mall stores.
