Check in was great; We were given tickets for each day for breakfast, room was clean and everything shipshape. We found a place to eat that we picked out before our arrival at the hotel. There was a nice dinner group as we arrived; that's always nice to see. Upon returning to the hotel we stopped in the bar and met Conner, the bartender. He was a nice bartender and good conversationist. Filled us in on the history of the inn. Breakfast Saturday morning didn't disappoint. We got certain breakfast entrees to pick from or you could use the voucher for a $7.50 towards other entree items and pay difference and any tax. Nice idea! Gone all day so back later to hotel. Breakfast again Sunday morning; same routine. They had a large breakfast group Sunday morning and all not people staying at hotel. So local come for the breakfast as well! They said the maintenance man was gone for the day and suggested that we get a new room on the third floor. That room was fine and had a great view of the lake and river. Continental breakfast was good and the three mornings we ate there. Regular coffee was empty on each day we were there and they were running out of quite a few things, although we went during the earlier timeframe. We tried the pool once and the water was too cold. We only stayed in for about 10 minutes and went back to our room. Overall, the hotel was OK, but too expensive. We most likely won't stay there again.

The staff Was incredibly friendly. My room was so immaculate you could have eaten off the floors. I heard a little ride noise after 7pm it got incredibly peaceful. You could watch the sunsets and sunrise on Lake Michigan. The views were beathe taking. The pool area was always neat and clean. They have a cute mini golf course in front of the hotel. This is incredibly charming. Take the step back in time and relax with the staff at the Village Inn. If you have a chance to meet Brian he is an outstanding employee who will go out of his way to make sure you have any you need!!!!!

We were told that it wasn't in his system which really just meant he forgot to write it down since his "system" consisted of a spiral notebook. My guess is that he was able to charge more to someone else so he booked our room and had us look elsewhere. He had us go to econolodge about 11mins away which was great but we had to pay $40 more for the same room. So basically this place probably made an extra $30 charging someone else more money, but used us as a backup plan Incase they weren't able to fill the rooms, and we got screwed because Econolodge (rightfully so) wasn't willing to honor this places pricing

Had it in my otherwise empty back pocket the whole time. Went up to the front desk to get it fixed. Still didn't work. Staff had to use the master key to let me back in so I could take a shower before I depart. Of course, no hot water. Ughhhh.

The rooms were no better--yellowed, sweat-stained pillows, grimy exterior windows, and no housekeeping unless specifically requested. A dirty hotel, whether luxurious or basic, is unacceptable. I raised my concerns with the front desk, but they seemed indifferent, giving the impression that no one cares. This was my last stay here.
