Two-nine has the perfect location and ambience; the only positives. The staff are very rude and cold/serious. The music is terrible; mostly outdated. The patrons are stuck up, if you are looking to socialize two-nine is not the place. I would absolutely not recommend it if your looking for a fun nite out. read more

By far my favorite place to go in Downtown Naperville. The atmosphere reminds me of lounges in downtown Chicago, the staff is always super friendly and attentive even when the bar is packed I've never had an issue getting a drink. I love when the weather is warm that they have an outdoor balcony. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff, and an all around nice place to hang out with my friends. read more

The decor in this bar is great and the martinis are as well...It *would* be a great place for a after date drink or a girls night but the music is so loud you can't hear the person next to you. It is an incredibly small room with one small bar area above Potters, a Mexican restaurant, (random)- so get there early if you want a booth to sit at. I was going to give this place a decent review because the majority of our night was pretty great. The DJ was legit and the bar was pretty accessible. My friends and I were having a good time until this old ass security guard blatantly racially profiled my friend and accused him of smoking weed in the bar! Yes, someone was smoking weed because it smelled so bad of it. But, NO. It was not anyone in my party! It had been a good hour since the smell of weed had been in the atmosphere when this security guard went up to the first Mexican guy on the dance floor and harassed him and interrupted our awesome evening! Patted my friend down IN FRONT OF EVERYONE! Yelled at my friend, got in his face and then walked away!! He was disrespectful, invasive and uncalled for!! We will never return to this autracious establishment. That security guard needs to be dealt with. I would not want my business to be associated with any racist bigots. We were a group of professional individuals that work in the Healthcare field and we did not deserve nor appreciate this awful display of racist, immature and ignorant behavior!! read more

Here is my story regarding storytelling in Naperville. I am a regular to storytelling events. Individuals associated with storytelling in Naperville have lowered the standard for effective storytelling. Two Nine Martini Bar is a great venue, but get rid of the club vibe for story night. The emcees seem to rob the venue for the sake of "we are cool". Storytelling is about campsites, family, roots, and not about the so called cool music that you can't get away from because of the bar downstairs. Don't lower ur standards because this is the first Storytelling venue in Naperville. Raise the bar. Please. read more

This place is awful -- if I could give it less than one star I would. Went in this weekend for a drink after dinner with some friends - and was so mistreated by their unbelievably rude staff, it was ridiculous. Their "bouncer/security guard" was ignorant and disrespectful to us; I don't know how anyone even can have fun in an uptight, pretentious, crowded spot like Two-Nine. Go somewhere else... ANYWHERE else but here -- there are better drink/drink specials at the other 25 bars in downtown Naperville. Would never recommend this place to anyone, ever. read more

Went in and the facility was nice but the music destroyed a potentially chill atmosphere. Other reviews have made this a common theme so I don't need to add to it. My main reason for writing this review is my extreme disappointment with the service and dishonest salesmanship. Upon sitting down my group was told what the night's specials were, which included "$3 domestics." I had a Blue Moon, thinking it was a fair price. When I got the tab, I noticed that I was charged $5 plus tax. I brought the mistake to the bartender's attention, reminding him of the night's special and he curtly responded, "Blue Moon's not a domestic..." In defense, I replied, "Blue Moon is owned by the same company that owns Coors and is brewed in Colorado. How is it not a domestic?" He gave me an incredibly inconsiderate answer that essentially communicated that I was SOL. I understand that a difference in classification can be argued, but the menu made it extremely misleading. Blue Moon was listed with all the other American beers, but was the only American beer that was not in the end considered to be a domestic. If being ripped off is your idea of a fun night out, please consider this lounge. read more

I feel like this place needs two reviews, a review before 10pm and a review after 10pm. If it was before, I'll give it a 4. If it's after 10, I'll give it a 1. This is a personal preference. When I go to a bar, I like to relax, chill, and really mellow out. If a place is dimly lit, with low music or ambient music, I'll be happy with a drink in hand and a nice conversation. That pretty much describes Two-Nine before 10pm. After 10pm, a DJ shows up and plays obnoxiously loud club music, not unusual for a bar/club, but I will explain why I don't like this. Don't get me wrong, when I'm in the right mood, the club scene can be fun. It's not typically my place, but I can be totally cool with it. As for Two-Nine, the club scene does not belong here. Two-Nine is a second floor bar. Every time we bring friends, some even from the Naperville area, their reaction is always the same, they had no idea it was even there and that they wouldn't have even guessed that there was actually something there. You go upstairs and feel like you're entering a secret place that needs to be kept that way. At the top of the stairs, you are greeted by an amazing and elaborate root like structure that grows out of the top of the staircase and completely covered the bar ceiling and stretches out to the opposite wall. The roots are made of metal but it's hard to determine that. Another thing that adds to the mystique of this place is that it's small. There are only a few tables and a very small outdoor porch that overlooks the outdoor area of potters place. The place is dimly lit and you can sit back and relax and really enjoy the whole experience. When you see this atmosphere, you want to preserve it. It's the DJ, the loud music, and the loud crowd that completely ruins Two-Nine. It does not make sense that those things are there and these things usually show up around 10pm. I can't stand the place after all the crap shows up. There is a "dance floor" if you can even call it that in front of a small table that the DJ sets up in the back by the deck. The floor can't be more than 8 x 8 feet. Crowds flood the small walkway between the bar and the dance floor and in the summer, the porch is completely packed. It has always been standing room only after 10pm. You could hardly believe that the chill and the mystique of Two-Nine actually existed before the dance party starts. It's a real shame. They have moderately priced drinks and they are pretty good. I guess you can consider it a martini bar and they are quite good. Service is another opposite at this place. Before 10pm, the service matches the look. They are pretty cool and attentive. Once the crowds pack in and the music starts, forget it. You're better off expecting gross dive bar service. The best drink they can make you after 10pm is a bottled beer and they may even mess that up. After 10pm you may see your server once every 45 minutes. If you want a cool bar experience, check out Two-Nine before 10pm. If you want a club experience, don't even consider this place. read more

We had visited Two-Nine on Saturday evening at around 8:30 with a large party of friends to be more specific 39 people were with us for a friends birthday. We planned on spending the entire evening at their contemporary lounge upstairs and came early to ensure we had seating for all of our friends. We went upstairs entering from the rear entrance and there was only 5 or so others in the bar when we arrived. After receiving my first drink of the night within roughly 10 minutes of entering the establishment I was approached by a bouncer and asked if my name was Tyler I had responded yes, I then was told by him you need to leave right now, I had asked why and another individual I believe named Matt who I later found out is the GM of the restaurant had entered the conversation stating you are not allowed in my place get out now and my drink was aggressively removed from my hand by a bouncer and I was physically grabbed by the bouncers and shoved toward and down the stairs with no explanation as to why I was physically removed and told I was not allowed. I had not caused any disturbance nor was I being confrontational to the individuals when I was approached and told to leave. Myself as well as the 39 individuals who were with the party all left to eat and celebrate elsewhere for the remainder of the evening and will not be spending our money there in the future. This was a hassle to all of us being that we had close to 20 others who met us in Naperville for the birthday celebration as well as a bus that was scheduled to pick us up at the end of the evening where he dropped us off at which was Potters Place causing our whole evening with about 60 people to get all mixed up. It was very unprofessional for a business and extremely rude for the individual that is managing that business to portray that level of professionalism representing the establishment to a large party of individuals spending their money enjoying the evening and not causing any problems. read more

When Friday rolls around after a long work week, everyone is ready for a relaxing and fun-filled weekend. Sitting on the couch with your feet up while veggin' out and watching Netflix with family is an ideal, relaxing weekend for many of us; however, we all want to get dressed up and head out for a fun night on the town with our friends occasionally. When we are deciding on a place to go there are many things that we factor into making our final decision. Most importantly we ask ourselves if the speed of service, atmosphere, and price-range of our chosen location is suitable for the night we intend to have with our friends. While the prices of cocktails are a little on the high end; Two-Nine offers not only great service, but a perfect atmosphere for a night out on the town with friends, and a vast variety of drinks - all in a perfect location. Two-Nine's location is perfect for the Chicago suburbanites who do not always wish to travel into the city just to have an enjoyable night out with friends. Its location is right in the heart of the western suburbs in Naperville, Illinois. Unlike the city of Chicago, the martini lounge is easy to navigate and there are many free, convenient parking lots and garages nearby. (No one enjoys paying an arm and a leg just to park their car.) After a countless number of cocktails and a fun night of dancing, I would imagine that many people's first thought would be, "Where can we get food at 2 o'clock in the morning?!" Conveniently enough, just a few minutes down the road from Two-Nine are a couple of different restaurants that are open until 3:00 a.m. or later. You can have your pick between a taco stand and a pizza joint and we all know both tacos and pizza are the best cure for "the drunken munchies!" All of this qualifies Two-Nine as an extremely convenient location, but that is not all they have to offer. The atmosphere of the Two-Nine martini lounge is perfect for those of any age. Whether you just turned twenty-one or you are "over-the-hill" - it is fun for all. Upon entering the lounge and walking up a flight of stairs, you cannot help but notice the dim lighting provided by tea light candles on the walls of the stairway, as well as on walls and tables throughout the entire lounge. There's a leafy, vine-like structure that follows the wall and ceiling of the stairwell into the lounge and branches over the bar into shelving that holds the top-shelf liquor. When you hear the word lounge, you would not necessarily assume that you could lounge at the lounge, but there are extremely comfortable couches and booths to sit at, as well as the typical (but fancy, high class appearing) high top chairs and tables and bar seats. There is a DJ and a dance floor opposite the seating and club music playing to give the fancy environment a little-bit of a laid-back and fun vibe. This gives you the opportunity of choice to have a more intimate outing or a crazy, outgoing night full of dancing. Even though the atmosphere is awesome enough, it would not be complete without the bartenders and cocktail waitresses. They are the icing on the cake; or rather the olives in the dirty martini. These employees are truly skilled. They are fast-paced and knowledgeable of not just the many cocktails they offer on their menu, but other bar drinks, too. The physical appearance of the bartenders and cocktail waitresses match that of the martini lounge. They are dressed to the nines, in all black, and it is obvious that they care about the results of your experience in Two-Nine. Service is an extremely important aspect when it comes to a night out on the town with friends and these employees and their service is top-notch. Lastly, but equally as important, is the pricing of the cocktails. Two-Nine has a few excellent specials on bottom shelf mixed drinks and bottled beers, but not much to offer on their signature martinis and other drinks listed on their menu - which is expected of any place. The prices are not extremely high as compared to those in Chicago, but when compared to other bars and clubs in the suburbs, they are a tad bit pricey. Cocktails range anywhere from $5 to $12 and bottled beers range anywhere from $3 to $6 - including the nightly specials. While most people would much rather spend a couple few dollars on a bottom shelf mixed-drink, the location (Naperville, Illinois) as well as the atmosphere of the bar (fancy and high class) must be taken into consideration here. Upon weighing out the pros and cons, it could not be more obvious that the higher-priced drinks are absolutely worth it when taking into consideration everything else the martini lounge has to offer. From the moment I walked into the Two-Nine martini lounge until the time I left I was consistently impressed with everything they had to offer. The convenient location, the fancy atmosphere and profound service all blew me away; so much that the prices no longer mattered. read more

Disappointing! Was here during summer with friends and cousins visiting from Germany and had a great time! So decided to come back to celebrate my birthday last night, huge mistake! We were there maybe 40 minutes and a bouncer randomly walks up to our table and tells my friend he needs to leave because he's been throwing up all night? First of all we weren't there all night, second my friend was drinking ice water no alcohol and never left the table so why is the bouncer even making these accusations? I asked the guy what are you doing and he ripped my drink from my hand and told me he was doing his job and I better shut up or he will have me arrested. He threw all of us out! I have never seen anything like this! Outside a girl that was inside earlier told me that the same bouncer asked her if anyone was bothering her because he was bored and wanted to take care of some business. So I guess there's the reason he kicked us out... a bored short bouncer with little man syndrome on a power trip! I will call management today but from what I've read on other reviews, I don't think they will care. Myself and everyone in my group will be sure never to come here again.
