Their workers showed up unannounced to begin the installation of a new HVAC unit in the property next door to me a day and a half later than I was told, without notice of when they would arrive. When they did arrive at the property, they just walked in and began working without notifying anyone that they were over there. After they had finished, they up and left without saying a word. I received a phone call the next morning asking if they were finished, and after paying I was told that an inspector would come to the property to ensure everything was installed correctly. They never showed. To be fair, I called the inspection company directly and ran into the same issue and eventually gave up trying to get them to come out, so I won't put this entirely on the fault of Service Plus. Lastly, after all of the work had been completed, I had to make several phone calls to the office to correct basic information on my final invoice. This company seems to do quality work, as I haven't had any issues with my new unit. However, they need to do a better job of communicating with their customers and handling things a bit more professionally.

The repair would have been about $700 for a system that's 15 years old so I decided to replace the system. A Comfort Consultant came out and reviewed units and payment plans with me and told me that the Install guys would be out today, Tuesday. The coldest day we've had since last March. The guys arrived on time, explained what they were going to do and went to work. They finished the exterior install, installed the thermostat and tested the unit. They showed me how to work the new thermostat and answered all of my questions with ease. This is a great company! I might have stumbled on them back in 2001 when I had problems with my old unit, but there is no way I'd take my heating/air business anywhere else.

Coming by and pouring water over the iced-up unit isn't a good fix. The unit was in a sunny corner and the winters aren't usually bad so I wimpily put up with it. After repeat visits for 8 years he finally found a bad wire and fixed it. The camel-back-breaking straw was last fall when we called him about funny smells when the heat came on and was charged for the service call and told everything was fine. The first year, nothing was done since the furnace began to work when the temperature increased. The 2nd year, they said the thermostat was bad and replaced it, charging us for the labor to replace it. I paid this invoice believing the problem was solved. The 3rd year, the technician said that the exhaust ductwork was sloped toward the furnace causing the condensation to back up and shut down the furnace. I was invoiced a significant amount but I declined to pay since it was an installation mistake that should have been corrected earlier. After 4 years of trying to correct the problem, they are now refusing to correct the (continuing) problem and we were again without heat in the morning. I did an internet search to see if anybody else had this problem and found it was a common problem with gas furnaces installed in an attic. All that was required was to insulate the condensate drain outside. I purchased a $4 piece of insulation and installed it myself. We have had no problem since. Seems like a "professional" HVAC company should have known this type of problem and not corrected it earlier. It's sad that a company does not take pride in providing a professional quality service.
