The south side unit kept having issues and since it was under warranty with another outfit they just kept fixing it, saying the board had died and need to be replaced. I asked them don't you think that is unusual? Those things rarely have problems and the other outfit had put 5 new boards into the same unit. When I suggested maybe something wasn't connected or done correctly they shrugged me off because I was a woman. After the warranty period expired and bad HVAC company wanted $2000 for another new board, I said no thank you. Then I reached out to Mike Houston, who was incredulous that the other outfit hand replaced so many boards. He came out and said sorry I have to replace the board it not responding and just shook his head. But it is what it is. On the second visit he came with his son on a very rainy day, and when they found the board was not resetting as it should they shook their heads, this can't be. Unknowingly I had purchased AC's that the steps used to reset boards, universal across all ACs was not how my units were configured to respond that way. Mike and is son spent two hours on the phone with the manufacturers support team, even they did seem to know about this new reset technique. They finally found the issue and it came down to some good detective work with tech support. When the other outfit just kept replacing boards and didn't they didn't pick up on that they were missing something. He and sone were outside in the rain and worked for two hours tracking down the real solution when the bad HVAC company just shrug with weak mumbles of yeah its odd but nothing more. Mike Houston is smart business, honest business and does highly respect work. This man has integrity and doesn't quit until he found the issue and fixed it. I know longer live in Kinston NC and hope I can find the same level of service here in Maryland, but I am not holding my breath. Houston Heating & Air Conditioning is a gem in a world of blah. The Restaurant A/C was checked by several A/C Vendors; however none was able to resolve the issue and bring the system back to working condition. As Soon as Houston HVAC got involved in the process, the A/C systems cause of failure was resolved, and quickly a game plan existed for Repair. We were especially impressed with the fact they reengineered the system for performance and efficiency rather than simply sticking new equipment in place of the old. Their personnel were friendly, informative, and very respectful of our home and privacy. The new system has made our home far more comfortable - both temperature and humidity control has been tremendously improved. We have also seen substantial savings on utilities - both electric and gas. What had been a consistent source of trouble and expense in our home is now a source of comfort and savings. A 5-star rating would be justified If this was the end of the story. Just recently, however, the compressor failed - apparently a factory defect unrelated to any of the work by Advance Mechanical. The part is under warranty, but the manufacturer would not pay for labor to replace it because the install was just over a year ago (and the manufacturer's "labor warranty" is only 1-year even though the part warranty is 5-year). This was no surprise to us, the specifics of the warranty were explained to us when we decided on this equipment. Advance Mechanical, however, decided that this scenario was not acceptable and replaced the compressor at their own expense - we didn't even ask them for that! Clearly, we are pleased and very satisfied with our decision to engage Advanced Mechanical. Indeed, we are relieved that we found a capable and reliable company that takes pride in their work and reputation. I hope this review will help other people make a similar choice.

Their workers showed up unannounced to begin the installation of a new HVAC unit in the property next door to me a day and a half later than I was told, without notice of when they would arrive. When they did arrive at the property, they just walked in and began working without notifying anyone that they were over there. After they had finished, they up and left without saying a word. I received a phone call the next morning asking if they were finished, and after paying I was told that an inspector would come to the property to ensure everything was installed correctly. They never showed. To be fair, I called the inspection company directly and ran into the same issue and eventually gave up trying to get them to come out, so I won't put this entirely on the fault of Service Plus. Lastly, after all of the work had been completed, I had to make several phone calls to the office to correct basic information on my final invoice. This company seems to do quality work, as I haven't had any issues with my new unit. However, they need to do a better job of communicating with their customers and handling things a bit more professionally.
