Burgers for $12 in 2022? Biggest thank you of the year! My work team decided to come here for dinner and this place really was a pleasant surprise. Located in Downtown Mansfield, this place is a great location to get dinner or to get some drinks, and it's connected with a lot of different restaurants and they have an outdoor backyard/courtyard that you can all connect in as well. We visited on a Tuesday evening, and the place was relatively empty. I sat in the bar and ordered some beers -- I will say... the alcohol selection is pretty limited but they do have other bars/restaurants in the vicinity so you can grab a drink somewhere else! The bar service was honestly pretty slow for how many people were in the restaurant, which is the main reason why this place gets a 4. I ordered the Freshmen 15 burger, which comes with smashes fries, bacon and a fried egg. I also added chipotle sauce (I ended up getting barbecue sauce instead... but it's fine), and I was just so shocked at how cheap it was! Only $12!! I also got an order of Treat Yoself Cheese Fries for the table which was $8, but my meal still only came out to $26 with tax! Both dishes were fantastic. I will say - it's not your typical sit down/be served restaurant - you order up front, which also means you're not obligated to leave a tip. Horrible food and customer service at this location. Waited over an hour for my family's food to be ready only to be served cold, soggy and overcooked food. The fried ride should have been crispy but the batter on the pickles was dripping wet. My kids only could stomach a couple bites despite being ravenously hungry by the time the food arrived. A restaurant with an awesome pickle selection should be successful in a town famous for its Pickle Parade & Festival...right!? Open just a few weeks - the ordering line and bar service still seem a bit sluggish, but bartenders and employees are friendly and helpful. A couple of food order slip-ups were remedied quickly by a helpful kitchen manager. Food is creative, flavorful and unique. We loved the Freshman 15 burger with smashed fries on the top. They no longer bring your food to you, they half-azz wipe down the tables, and even the counter person may or may not get your order correct depending on if you yell or not and if they have an attitude. I have been dying to try here but it sadly didn't live up to the hype. I got there during happy hour and ordered a $3 well and $1 draft beer. It somehow was $10.82. Then once we ordered we got the millionaire and the freshmen 15. The millionaire was supposed to come with onion strings .. but it didn't. And the egg on the freshmen 14 was WAY over cooked.. no runny yolk whatsoever. The burgers were also over cooked. I came here with my mom after we tried eating next door at the Tacos & Avocados place next door but nobody wanted to say hello or take our order so we came to a trusted burger place next door. I've been to Twisted Root in Arlington many times so I know it's a good place to eat. The burgers are grass fed and very healthy beef that doesn't make you feel disgusting afterwards. I love their pickles, especially the bread and butter ones and u can get as many as u want out of their pickle barrels. Fries are good as r the onion rings. You can't go wrong with a good solid burger that you can customize to your liking and hand crafted fries. The drinks are good but nothing extra special (I tried the Tiki Rita). I am sad that they got rid of the Boozy Shakes though. The plus about this location is the patio outside that connects it and a few other establishments. read more

The "western" is the only burger I ever get. It's so good I don't want to try anything else. Their burgers are a good size and full of toppings. The western comes with: bacon, jalapeño, pepper jack cheese, and onion stings. It's slightly spicy, but more flavorful than anything. The patty was thick and juicy. I just wish the bun was a little bigger, I ran out of bread before I finished! Their fries are for an extra charge ($2). They are good, not too greasy, and you get a decent amount. Been to Twisted Root(mansfield) before multiple times and have enjoyed it, but today was an absolute mess. First off, all of the cutlery in the canisters by the soda fountain were filthy. I kept looking for a fork and knife without smudge marks on them, but couldn't find any. Also the salt shaker was a tad rusty where the salt comes out. I know it won't hurt you to eat a little rust, but it's not very appetizing to look at. Now to the service: The burger was great, but they forgot to add cheese on the fries. Waitress apologized and said that she would get one out asap. After 8 minutes, I went to check on it and she said "Sorry, I forgot. I'll put it in right now". After another 5 minutes later and still without the cheese fries, I just left. What a shame. The place used to be SO good. I don't know what happened. I have never given a bad review on yelp before and I hate to do it, but if I don't then they wouldn't know where they could improve. Twisted Root is alright. People went nuts about them when they first opened. They have some unique burgers which are all decent. The wagyu and buffalo options are the way to go on the burgers but they come with $3 up-charge. They make a decent burger, but I am always shocked at my bill after I order. Yesterday, it was $27 before I ordered any drinks. While the burgers are reasonably priced around $9, when you start adding options and fries, it just adds up quickly. Even the ranch costs $0.75. This more a place where I have to stand in line and order over the counter. The pickles they do are fun. I am a fan of the Ranch and the Sweet and Spicy. I was stocked to dive into the rare meats. Then I read the fine print that it's a select meat each day. That absolutely makes sense to keep it fresh. The only meat I didn't want to try was camel. Low and behold, the rare meat of the day was camel- womp womp. In any case, I still had a blast making my own burger. I ended up going with the buffalo (still more rare than what I get in Philly) along with Texas toast, Texas goat cheese, hatch green chilies and guacamole. I made my own Texas style burger using local things and things I already loved. I also tried the Long Horn IPA. None of the above really blew me away, but it wasn't bad. My Texas toast wasn't toasted, the hatch green chilies were bland and the buffalo tasted like cow. The IPA was 100% run of the mill. I had no interest in trying the other generic types of beer. On the other hand, I wish I could take the pickle bar home with me. The spicy pickles were some of the best I've ever had though. The entire outdoor dining area was fantastic. I would overlook everything else not being mind-blowing for the cute outdoor atmosphere. My group found a table in the covered area near the TV. I could see this being a great hangout spot. If I were local, I'd be back trying each and every rare meat. That's a really great feature. read more

It's pretty awesome , great family environment. Gets pretty packed but the food comes out fast and delicious. They have a great selection of burgers like the classic which has cheddar , bacon and brioche bun! They have a shroom burger with Swiss , there's a big Tex burger that has avocado , and chipotle sauce looked great! The shakes , oh wow, we got an Oreo and a fat Elvis ! The fat Elvis comes with a fried peanut butter & banana 1/2 sandwich! My son enjoyed it, he loved the shake , they also offer the Oreo shakes with some alcohol for those loving parents that need a little something something lol. I have been a Twisted Root fan for many years. However the last few times we have been in the service, especially bar service, has been bad. The couple in front of us were able to place their bar order when they placed their food order at the front counter. However, I tried to do the same, and was told I had to order it at the bar. This is always a very busy burger place in downtown Mansfield. I've tried this place twice and they always over cook my burger, I ask for medium and it always comes out well done and dry. If I wanted to go to a play ground, I would have gone to McDonalds. Disappointed is my how I feel about the Twisted Root in Mansfield. First, I wanted the Boar. Sorry, we are out. How about the Lamb, nope, we are out there as well. We have Camel. Forget it. How about Wagyu? Yes we have that. Great. I'll have that burger with Lettuce, tomato's, and onions. It came cold, with one tomato, several sliced onions and one piece of wilted lettuce. Seriously? This establishment is small compared to the one in Waco. Different atmosphere as well. The Waco Root is more of a Sports Bar / Restaurant. This one in Mansfield is like a Daycare. Children running amok near the partial patio with a love tree and large river rock. Will I be back? Not to this one 08/29/2018 Thought I would treat my office manager to lunch today. She's never been to Twisted Root so here we are. After my last review I didn't want to come back mainly because of all the kids running around and that they didn't have several of the specialty burgers on the menu available. This time around, no kids and the Shroom Burger was available Much better this time around but to be honest, the 1 little wilted piece of lettuce and small tomato that was supplied was again a huge disappointment. I came during lunch (11:30) on a Friday with coworkers. Since they open at 11 there was no line and lots of open tables. I decided to go on the healthier side and have the Cobb salad. It was a really delicious salad! I loved the lemon Dijon vinaigrette. The salad has a lot of good stuff in it- bacon, blue cheese, parmesean crisps, tomato and a fried egg on top! For a lighter lunch I suggest not adding any meat to it but for dinner I would suggest it if you're used to a larger meal at dinner. Visually the burgers looked a little flat but all of the options sounded delicious. I'll have to come back to try one as it has been years since I've been to a Twisted Root prior to this. One thing I didn't like was the bowl the salad came in. It was a little difficult to eat out of it as it was very full. I also thought they looked cheap. The restrooms are outside just behind the patio, which by the way had heaters going. Only downside to them being outside is that it is cold! It is a communal sink area. There's a large outdoor area for people to enjoy on a nice day. I could definitely see it getting more crowded then. The staff were friendly and helpful. read more

I was craving a hand crafted, delicious burger. We went for Mother's Day. In placing my order, I got the distinct impression the person taking the orders was NOT receptive to any type of question. We placed our order and found a seat. My burger (spicy goat) came and it was hockey-puck-esque. Not juicy at all. It was waaay over cooked. My fries were lukewarm at best. We sent my burger back. The manager did it, but wasn't overly apologetic or concerned. My husband ordered the big Tex, and he said it was ok, but not stellar. The kids meals were so so. We were so excited about a proper restaurant with good burgers and we are not fans of fast food. The concept is there, but Mooyah and Hopdoddy execute it far better!!! My husband is willing to give Twisted Root another try in about a month. I don't want to waste another $40 and likely won't go back. To earn my business, you need to have great food quality, a great product, and customer service needs to be top notch. Since Twisted Root failed all of these, I don't see the need to return. read more
