Decision made, 54th Street for dinner it is. Arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by one of the hostesses and shown to our table. Ava, our bubbly server, greeted us and took our drink orders. It always takes us a while to decide since there is SO many delectable items on 54th Street's menu. My wife decided on the Chicken Avocado Grill, with a side of fries. I opted for a half rack of baby back ribs with beans and Cole slaw. Miss Reba, our diva dog at home, will be VERY happy when her daddy brings home bones. After a short wait, Ava came by to let up know out entrees were almost ready. We told her we were in no rush at all, which we weren't. All the sudden one of the kitchen expeditors delivered our entrees. Oh yummy, everything looked wonderful. She loves 54th Street's fries. So the French fries were the first to be tasted. I saw an ugly face and wondered what was wrong. I tasted one of the fries and made the same ugly face. The was WAY TOO much salt on the fries. They were inedible. Fortunately one of the managers was close by and I summoned him to our table. My wife explained what the issue was with the fries. Since the French fries were on a separate plate, the manager asked if he could taste them. Yep, ugly face, way over seasoned. He said he'd be right back. He took the plate back to the kitchen. Shortly, he arrived back at our table with a new plate of fries and a cup of 54th Street's special seasoning on the side. Everything solved and a happy wife. My wife's chicken sandwich were delicious as well as my baby back ribs and sides. Thank you Ava, the management, and the whole staff of 54th Street for a wonderful visit. We'll see all again soon.

We headed across the lake into Mansfield and stopped at Jakes Burgers and Beer. Jakes stays open until 11 p.m. and was easy to get to off Broad St. I lived off Skillman the last time I had a Jakes Burger and my husband has never had one. Our friendly waiter reassured me they hadn't changed. The menu certainly has though! What a vast array of creative ideas for burgers, sandwiches and even breakfast and brunch! It took me awhile to decide. Salads, platters, veggies. Great choices. There were so many appealing appetizers, but we decided on the Half and Half Hand-Breaded Jalapeño Bottle Caps & Hand-Breaded Pickle Chips, served with ranch. When they came, I can honestly say the grouping looked nothing like the photo. These were much smaller. But for the two of us, the portion was okay and it was delicious. The jalapeños were spicy and the pickles tangy. A terrific combo to get your palate fired up. My spouse had ordered the Kickin' Chicken Fried Bacon Burger and it arrived in all its glory. Two beef patties with hickory sauce and melted cheese, lettuce, red onion, chipotle mayo, topped with two slices of beautiful chicken fried bacon. He let me have a bite of the bacon. It's crazy good. My burger came, the Bacon Bleu Burger with Bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a creamy bleu cheese dressing with crumbles. I had ordered extra pickles on the side and I received four but I absolutely love them so I asked for four more right away. I think it's sacrilege to just put whole intact slices of onion on anything without separating the rings, so I had to "operate" before I could eat. I also asked for a plain bun. You have a choice between poppy seed or plain. This was a truly delicious burger. One of the best bleu cheese burgers I've ever had and very filling. I took half home! Service was excellent and the restaurant and restroom was very clean. We had a good experience and would return.

As longtime Black customers, we left feeling completely unwelcome and undervalued. We have been coming to El Primo's for YEARS. I've celebrated special occasions here, including my 25th birthday, so this isn't a review from someone who visited once and decided to complain. We know what the service and atmosphere used to be like, which is exactly why this experience was so disappointing. I have never been to a Mexican restaurant where we weren't even offered a refill on chips. My father had to repeatedly ask for water. Our waiter barely checked on us at all and essentially only returned when it was time to bring the check. Meanwhile, we watched the manager make a point to visit and speak with seemingly every other table while completely passing over ours. I cannot speak to anyone's intentions, but I can absolutely speak to how we were treated, and as Black customers, the difference in attention made us feel singled out and unwelcome. After YEARS of supporting this restaurant, that is incredibly disappointing. If this is the level of hospitality the new management considers acceptable, they are going to run a once-great restaurant into the ground. You cannot expect loyal customers to continue supporting a business where they no longer feel valued or even acknowledged.

I came through on a weekday to check out the hype of the bottomless apps and a couple of drinks. I just so happened to catch the happy hour specials, so I took advantage of the drink specials they have here. We sat at the bar, and we were greeted by the bartender with a warm smile as she took our drink orders and gave us a food menu. The ambience inside was a nice sports bar setting with multiple TVs playing sports and trivia. We went ahead and ordered the bottomless apps which is a choice between the chips and queso, mozzarella sticks, fried pickles and lastly onion rings. The rule is order 2 at a time and after you complete the 2 you can order more. We started off with the chips and queso and added chili for an additional amount along with the fried pickles. The food came out shortly and was looking great! The queso was very flavorful and had a good consistency with the cheese. The chips were your standard bag chips which had a nice crisp when dipping them inside the queso. The fried pickles came with ranch and another sauce which I wasn't too fond of but that's okay because they tasted great! After we completed our first round we went with the onion rings and cheese sticks. The cheese sticks were served with a warm marinara sauce and came in a 6 count. They had a nice cheese pull and paired well with our drinks. The fried onion rings were amazing with a nice crispy batter and sweet onions. They also came with ranch as well and I squirted some ketchup on it to complete the dish. Overall, I really enjoyed eating here with friends and trying the bottomless apps. The deal is too good to be true, and I definitely got the most bang for my buck dining here. I'm looking forward to coming back for the happy hour drink specials since they run a good happy hour drink specials on the domestic large drafts.

I was pumped because not many places around Mansfield/Arlington seem to offer it and it really enhanced the experience of sushi. Unfortunately, I paid 1.99 for the fresh wasabi and received the regular wasabi paste.. which was fine, but usually that's standard at sushi places and not extra. I really was set to enjoy the rougher cut wasabi. Otherwise, I did order two California rolls for my kid and I, garlic Cajun edamame, pork gyoza and another roll (it had shrimp tempura and eel, but I can't remember the name). It was my first time trying the eel roll and I thought it was good. The California rolls were solid and my son enjoyed the gyoza potstickers. We came in on a Saturday around 3pm and the place was totally empty, but the staff was very nice and courteous when we entered to pick up our order. It took no time to put together and we enjoyed our sushi at home minus the fresh wasabi. It was also very clean in there.
