The burger and fries were absolutely delicious. If the fries weren't hand cut, they sure tasted it. The Kevin Bacon burger and the not-too-salty fries are worthy of four stars and the bartender was also very personable and attentive. The only reasons I'm stuck on 4 stars is because the menu could have been a little more expansive/creative and because the blue cheese on my burger was blue cheese dressing, as in salad dressing. There was so much on there I had to scoop some off. The bacon was also a little overcooked. The kitchen successfully cooked my burger medium, against apparent airport regulations. The menu states along the lines "all burgers are cooked medium well unless you speak up." To translate, that means all burgers are cooked medium well unless you want it cooked well. Airport regulations supposedly inhibit them from cooking your patty less than medium well, even in Texas of all places. I can't speak for the shakes. I wanted one but I took solace in knowing they aren't hand spun or made with real ice cream. Custard and mix, but they looked good nonetheless. The draft beer options suck. Talk about a major surprise! Just happened to come across this Hamburger Joint and because I was in a hurry and there wasn't a huge crowd decided why not? A tad skeptical at first but ordered the regular burger with American cheese and a side of fries. I like everything on my burger, lettuce onion tomatoes and extra pickle. Learned they had 3 pickle options and that I could add them as I pleased. When my burger arrived open faced it was missing tomatoes but what caught my attention was how juicy the hamburger looked. Requested a couple tomatoes and loaded it with a ton of pickles, some mustard, ketchup and mayo and it was delicious! The meat was tasty and the bun was perfect! The right amount of toasting coupled with that airy light feeling. The fries were sooooo darn good as well. Tasty burgers, but an uneven experience. A pretty decent wait to get a burger during lunch hour and then still had to stand and wait another five minutes for the fries? Those should be coming out continually in prime time. And prices are high and nonsensical - a burger with 3 strips of bacon and a pile of Danish bleu cheese is $9.35, but a burger with bacon and aged Swiss cheese is $11.57? Whaaa? And not a tomato to be had in the whole joint. The "cute name" assignment doesn't really work. They tell you that you're Clark Griswold and by the time the food is finally ready they are yelling "clark ... clark" and you're daydreaming and don't tune into that because - well, you're not used to answering to that. Seems most every order they resulted in yelling out what the food was. Numbers, people. Just give us a NUMBER. Score some ancho chipotle ketchup, tho'. That stuff rocks. I laid over at DFW both directions and had a burger here both times! Being vegan, it is difficult to find good options. Their Vegabond burger is exceptional--makes quite a mess eating it but totally worth it. Service was great both rounds. I did not eat use the bar but it was nice with a great view. Let's start with the ugly: seating area not clean and the condiments were empty at several tables. Bad: order was wrong and there seemed to be a lot of confusion with the staff not knowing or how to read the tickets and what was to goin the burger. I ordered the Ranch Hand it it had no peppercorn flavor to the burger total wast of ordering it. They never even put the bacon on it. Good: even though the burger had no peppercorn flavor the burger was still good with good beef taste. The B&B pickle chips were very good as well. As a professional trainer there seems to be lack of training for this location and how to manage time to clean the seating area. I was hanging in the Dallas airport for a few hours and I hadn't eaten yet and this place was close to my gate and had a Vegan Burger, so I thought I would give it a whirl, grab a beer and some fries to go with it and it held me over as the only meal I had the whole day of travel! The service was good, it always seems airport bartenders/waiters always seem to be on their phone or not paying attention when you actually need or want something but this young man did a pretty good job! The counter service moves pretty fast, but the food takes forever to get - especially in an airport. And then, when you do finally receive said food and the orders are completely wrong, patties not cooked properly, unmelted cheese, etc., who has the time or patience to ask for a re-order?! They simply do not have all of the options of "exotic" meats as other locations and the quality control is nonexistent. The female at the counter is both working the register and prepping food. The good news is she is wearing gloves. The bad news is she doesn't change them between activities. I just watched her take my $20 dollar bill and give me back four ones and change them she turned around and picked up toasted buns from the toaster, then French fries and put them in a container all with the same gloves that just touched paper money. Now she has prepared my food too. What would you do? Discreetly tell her what you saw so they can re-make your food and possibly do something worse to it? Throw it and $16+ away? A quick look at the Yelp reviews showed that the business manager even cared enough to respond to reviews. The staff here is great. We sat up at the bar and ordered a drink and a burger each. There are local craft brews available, which was awesome. The ones we got were good quality. The burgers themselves are thick and well put-together. We were very happy with the food. We also got a few pickles from the pickle bar (delicious) and I added some of their homemade ketchup to my burger. This was one of the better burgers I've had, very satisfying. The only knock I have is the price. Of course it is expensive because it is in the airport, but it was difficult to even know what kind of $ you'd be spending. When you get the receipt there is this strange listing of "base" prices for items, then "additions" that adjust that price. 'I Twis-ted Root, and I like it--the taste of pick-les-a-tomic!' I managed to arrive in between waves of passengers and ordered a Big Texas with fries. I was asked to draw a name. Got 'Chris Tucker' the name used to call me when my order was ready. I told her now I have to be all rude and all. She laughed. While waiting for my order, I sampled the 4 types of pickles--from dill, bread and butter, sweet and spicy, but my fave was atomic. Soon, I was killing the pickles! The burger was acceptable having shrunk a lot from being cooked to well done. The guacamole was viscous and decadent without any of the usual distracting acids often added to prevent oxidation. The onion ring strings were crisp the cheddar cheese was dry and baked on, further suggesting that my burger was a but tired. The bun was fluffy and well grilled. The fries were awesome. Crispy, hot and fluffy inside. Salted just right, they were a delight eaten with Chipotle Ketchup. In all, a strong performance at reasonable prices for a busy airport terminal. read more
