I like the environment. Last time I went there they were rude and wouldn't give me what I ordered. That sounds bad...I'm sure, but here is the story. The first time I went in there, which was like 2 years ago, I ordered a hamburger with a peach on it. I ordered it again and there was not a peach on it and I confronted them about it and they did not give me a peach. They said "this burger never had a peach on it." (Rude...) what happened to the customer is always right?! Just give me the peach. Haha but seriously. (Rant Over.) I love the atmosphere. I like the uniqueness of how they call out the orders. I probably won't come back to this location, but will probably have to try something new next time. read more

Hands down one of my favorite burger joints in Arlington. The atmosphere gives off a hipster casual vibe, and there are TVs all around showing the latest sports games. They have this cool ordering system where they give you a ticket with a famous celebrity or character (I got Optimus prime a couple of times lol), and they call that name on the PA system when your foods ready. The burgers here are the spawn of heaven, descending down and giving up its immortality so you can feast on it and obtain true enlightenment. Normally I would get the Big Tex, and switch out for the meat for buffalo (ask what game meat they have that day. Also costs more $$). The meat comes medium well unless told otherwise, and the burgers don't come with tomatoes unless you ask them. The burgers are definitely mouth watering, and they'll have you coming back to try the other ones on the menu! The shakes are actually really good too, however it is a bit pricey. I got the toasted marshmallow smores shake, and it came out with actual toasted smores, ice cream and vanilla mixed with a chocolate syrup. Very creamy and delicious. Also, there are complimentary pickles with different flavors on the side for you to try! read more

Twisted Root Burger - Burgers Near Me - Arlington, Texas

Very good place for burgers. All the different kinds of pickles are awesome to try too.

Celebrated my daughter's birthday at what is her favorite burger joint. Let's face it.... Twisted Root - all locations - pretty much rock. The best is the original in Deep Ellum - did you know it's the only location with curly fries? Their variety of homemade pickles - atomic, bread & butter, sweet & spicy, dill and ranch are off the chain! The homemade ketchup, mustard and BBQ sauce ain't too shabby either. And their shakes..... Oh my. My daughter had the burger of the month. If you like grilled cheese you best get there...a grilled cheese sandwich was used for each bun. Burger had a fried egg and bacon .. basically 3 sandwiches in 1. Mom had a small make your own burger... she's little and was pleased except for the dry wheat bun...maybe there isn't much of a turnover on wheat buns. Mine was also super dry! I think the turkey patty may have been pretty good but ... - next time I'll request a white bun on my turkey burger. We shared cheese fries. They were fine. Of course I'll be back - sans wheat. :) Oh and if ya didn't know...you are assigned the name of a celebrity of which is called when your food is ready. read more

This place is amazing. Awesome drinks, grub and more! Pickle bar is to die for! The bbq and spicy in house made ketchup is delish!

I was pleasantly surprised recently to hear about all of restaurants opening up in Central Arlington. About a decade too late, but better late then never. Twisted Root is just West past J. Gilligan's on Abrams St. It adjoins the new Flying Fish. There is a decent amount of parking available in back which you access from the street on the West side of Flying Fish. I am a veteran of the Deep Ellum location, and have long been a fan, but for some reason, some of the quirkiness of the other locales simply comes off as contrived here ("Order up for Jack Sparrow!" "Ugh...I guess that's me..."). Still, the full-size RV located inside, rigged to hold the beer taps and flat screens, was an unexpected and interesting touch. There is also a nice, if small patio outside, and the walls open up like garage doors for the few pleasant evenings we experience (one of which happened to be the night I ate here). The same selection of exotic meats are yours for the taking here, with the special on my trip being Kangaroo burgers. I'd had kangaroo nachos before (at Lonesome Dove in FTW), so was not put off by this idea, but I stuck with Buffalo, because it rarely disappoints. As expected, the burger was moist and flavorful, and the proprietary Ancho Ketchup a nice compliment. The onion rings were a bit of a disappointment, being of the shoestring variety, and the portion size of the sides in general was a let down. There are free pickle chips with varying degrees of heat for those who find their appetites unsatisfied, but that is not to my taste. On the whole, a decent addition to a city mired in uninspiring chain eateries. read more

Why have I stayed away for so long? I'm not really sure but it's been 2 years at least and i've never been to the Arlington location. Welcome back to me! I got the Kevin Bacon and it was loaded with bacon the guy at the counter recommended jalapeños but I wasn't feeling that spicy. The burger was so good with gooey blue cheese no other condiments were necessary. I got a side of irresistible sweet potato chips and it was on. One thing I was happy yup see on the menu was a burger salad is a great alternate to having bread. There is patio seating on the side which is actually well shaded and plenty of televisions inside as many patrons were watching world cup. The bar is pretty neat as well is made from an old RV. I got the rum punch it was good and reasonably priced. Can't wait for my next visit. So don't hesitate making a stop by. Twisted root is now back in the burger rotation. It's a great addition to downtown Arlington. read more

From the most unassuming environment comes an awesome and unique experience... This place oozes character to say the least... Looking around, there's not a thing that seems to have been overlooked by the decorating crew. The bar, for instance, is a modified Winnebago that dispenses frosty cold libations like an outdoor kegger at a trailer park. Some chairs are actually coolers, some are park benches, and most have some oddball saying written on them. The walls are adorned with truck tailgates smattered with bumper stickers, some of which are downright hilarious. But the unique nature doesn't stop there- your order isn't called by number, you're actually assigned a pop-culture icon to listen for instead! The important part though, is the food. The burgers are listed multiple times in multiple places, as well as with fliers along the order line to help expedite the flow of service. With regards to the menu, you'll find the burgers listed as you would expect, however there are several exotic offerings as well. In my case, I ordered exotic, but not your typical ones like bison/buffalo or ostrich. I went with the kangaroo burger, including the recommended Swiss cheese, so as to not mask the delicate gamey flavors in the kangaroo. We grab some beers and waited to hear our icon called- Chaka Khan in our case. In the meanwhile, I also ventured to their flavored pickles bar. The usual offerings such as kosher and dill slices were available, but my favorites were the wasabi ones. That nice sour flavor finished with a nose clearing warmth was a nice surprise. Once our burgers arrived, they immediately became the focus. The cheese was noticeably thick as you could nearly jump rope with it once it began to pull away. Other than that, my kangaroo didn't really have much going on in the flavor department. Extremely juicy, but a lack of seasoning, the burger patty just didn't have a flavor all its own. I'd certainly recommend it on texture, but its fair to say I'd come back to try another burger because there's clearly a lot of potential for this place, and many that have experienced it. I'll have to check it out again and see for myself. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. On a Sunday before the cowboys game they are grossly understaffed. No bartender. Thirty minutes for anyone to take a drink order and over an hour for food. No one seemed to care at all and kept saying food was coming soon and it kept taking longer than they said. Food wasn't even very good. For a gimmicky place it seems like a bunch of crap to cover for terrible service and a terrible establishment. read more

We went to the Twisted Root in Arlington late in the evening on their "soft" opening day. We had hoped it would be open on the weekend before, but glad it wasn't or we would not have found the Rendon General Store. We are very glad to have this in nearby downtown Arlington. It's cool, it's funky and we like that. Love the Winnebago bar and the tailgates. Like eating in your crazy, but cool Uncles junky, funky back yard. I hope I never have to sit the the water coolers. The homemade pickle bar is cool. Love the B&B, there were lots of spicy choices. Really different and great if you love pickles, and we do. My husband enjoyed his regular cheeseburger, he said he thought it was good, not up there with Rendon, but close to Snuffer's it was . I had the Adult Grilled Cheese with Bacon and Tomato...I think they get me. It was large, plenty of cheese, good fresh cooked bacon, nice tomato. I gave half of it to my son for a tiny bite of his Bacon Blue Cheese burger and liked it. He ate it all but the bite and half my sandwich. How does he stay thin?? My husband had the fries, no complaints. He's a Heinz guy, but he tried their homemade Ketchup and thought it was okay, and then went back to the Heinz. I dipped my sandwich in the homemade BBQ sauce and liked it, a little smokey, a little tangy, and a little sweet. I got the fried green beans....Excellant, crisp and fresh. I did not want to share, but traded my son a couple for some of the slight greasy onion rings. I love Root Beer, they make their own. It would be better in a Frosted Mug...Please take note Root Guys you need cold MUGS, all your hard work in a plastic cup is a waste of a good Root Beer. Glad we got in before you have to wait. The lines will be long. Welcome to Arlington Twisted Root! read more

Disappointed when i went it was rated 4 stars and did not live up to the expectations. Food took forever and was so cold that they had to reheat it prior to bringing it out. Once out it would take the server forever to locate the table for the order. The patty was dry and hard with no seasoning. The only reason I'm giving it 1 star is because the fountain drinks were good. Enjoyed the sugarcane cola. read more

Omg the burgers, I love these burgers they cook the meat to order and its so juicy. (I've only gotten traditional beef but trying an exotic meat has crossed my mind, I just don't want to make a mistake and get a bad meal). The fries are so crisp and salty, not overly salty but just the perfect amount of salty. The pickle bar is my undoing (I'm not supposed to have a lot of salt, heart conditions = salt bad but I can't not make multiple trips to the pickle bar my favorite are the bread and butter, the dills are just a little to sour for me. (Personally I think the dill should be labeled Sour not Dill but that's just me.). I love that they also have their own sauces to put on your burger that aren't the traditional ketchup and mustard. read more

Had the "The bull" or something. It's a Buffalo burger. Very good. I liked the restaurant atmosphere as well

One of my favorite burger places! I come at least twice a month, either to try the burger of the month or my favorite Big Tex. All of their burgers are worth a shot, or you can even create your own. They also serve game meat, but I've never tried it so I can't give you a "yea or nay." They also have a vegetarian option, which my veggie friend loves. Definitely try their selection of pickles! It's amazing! Wasabi pickles! They also have child and adult shakes that are pretty awesome. :) Great atmosphere. It's funny and has lots of things to look at (including TVs for your sports lovers) It is a bit pricey, so be warned! You might get order happy and then when the price comes up you might be a little taken back. Whether it's worth it or not is fully up to you. Overall, it's pretty fantastic and it's friendly to everyone. read more

We had a long drive to this place through questionable hoods but it was worth it. Wow, this place is so much fun. I wanted the long line to go slow just to take it all in. Very quirky place. Took lots of photos to upload to Facebook. Burgers were outstanding - how often can you get one medium rare anyways? I love all the pickles, my favorite being the Wasabi and the Spicy Hot one, and the sauces on the table for the burgers. A homey place with plenty of paper towels, fold-up chairs, and everybody having a good time. Coming from Seattle I sure didn't think it was expensive. I had the regular Cheeseburger and that was plenty big. Also tasted those delicious sweet potato chips and I could see their cinnamon sugar flavor being quite addictive. Good service. I even snagged a free t-shirt after we bought one and there was only one left while they were waiting for their new batch. It's "Sofa King Good"!~ read more

Definitely one of My favorite burger places. The The freshman 15 is the best burger to get in my opinion. They have various different options for types of meat For the burger. One of the most interesting burgers they have is the bison burger. The atmosphere of twisted root is very unique and rustic in its own kind of way. The staff is always friendly and courteous when we go. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family. read more

This location is close to UTA and great for studying outside when the weather is good. Unlimited refills on iced tea or fountain drinks (root beer!) and a great selection of free pickles. I like the bread and butter and atomic ones the best. A funky decor looks like an old mechanic shop is a bit noisy inside with them calling out celebrity names instead of numbers. You might be biz markee one day and J.R.Ewing the next. Oh and the burgers and fries are perfectly acceptable. read more

Twisted root as always is delicious food! This location has been one of my best experiences. The service was fast and easy. The only down side was when I went to the restroom it smelled terrible. Half of our fries were inedible... they'd been sitting under a heat lamp too long maybe? The burgers were mediocre. Mostly the patties were just lacking in flavor - too dry and under-seasoned maybe? Man, I really wanted to like this place. A Deep Ellum-spawned burger chain success story? Love the idea - not the food. Ok, to be honest, the burgers were not bad... but for $8 a pop, I expected excellence. Also, I was a little apprehensive when I walked up to the counter... a couple of young white guys making my food? No thank you. I mean, I'm a young white guy who loves to cook, but most of these young honkies couldn't care less about crafting an excellent meal. They were also lacking in customer service. Blah. I'll stick with Liberty Burger, Snuffer's, and maybe try that Off-Site Kitchen soon. read more

I was ok with my buffalo burger but can only give two stars for two important (for me) reasons... the drink area was about 1/3 the size it needs to be so i was fighting off people for a refill and my fries were room temperature/soggy. I had heard good things about the Root and went with some avid fans, but I was less then impressed. Maybe I caught them on a bad night -- maybe the Saturday night crew is comprised of rookies who have never worked at a restaurant before. I'll likely give them another chance, but I don't think it will be anytime soon. read more

This location is cooler than the one in Roanoke in terms of ambiance and clientele. This area is close to UTA, and has seen some drastic improvements in the last five years. I liked the bar, and the large dining room. The fried green tomatoes were still on the menu, but are no longer offered. The Western Burger was okay. The fried pickles were okay. The fries were meh. If you're hear to drink and eat, it's a good spot. If you're here for the best burger in the world, you'll leave feeling like you overspent on something just average. read more

First time here today for lunch and it was DELICIOUS!! I did a build-a-burger and my BF got the western, both were on point. I added an egg to mine and omg.... tasty!! The staff was friendly. Not my favorite burger but certainly a very good one. Juicy to the point of being messy. Love the potato strings with their light batter.

An awesome place, but sub-par and expensive food. Twisted Root is ideal for gathering large groups of people who aren't super hungry. The trailer park vibe in the dining are is really cool and it's a great place to eat with a large group of people since it's self service and the seating is very open. The burgers were average, there were some ambitious specialties that are pretty good, but not all that amazing. The lack of bang-for-the-buck gets it a low rating, but I still really dig it as a restaurant! read more

While this location doesn't have the same charm as the deep ellum location its still pretty cool. Always a solid burger here and its a great place to bring people visiting from out of town for something quick and cheap. The most interesting thing about this twisted is the converted airstream bar, I def dig that! Theyre happy hour prices are pretty decent. If you havent tried the lost mexican with bacon you are missing out! read more

The burger was really good. My friend loves real burgers but likes the Veggie Burger even more. The fries are okay, nice and thin and crispy but they were all very short so it was like trying to eat French Fry crumbs. I really like the selection of sodas. The chocolate shake however was horrible. I meant really, one of the worst I've ever had. It's over loaded with chocolate syrup, and it had the consistency of a warmed liquefied plastic foam. read more

You have to eat here! The Arlington location is the best. The set-up is pretty funky and ideal. It's a lot of food, so go hungry. Try the s'mores milkshake. It's topped with toasted marshmallows and is truly amazing. The lemonade is worth a try, too. They trick it up a little bit. The last time I had it, it tasted like lemonade and sweet tarts. Made me feel like a lil kid. My advice to you: if you're over 40 (like me) the burger and fries are ok, but if you add the milkshake, make plans to go home right after. You'll be glad you did. read more

We decided to try it for the first time this past week. I had never heard any reviews on it, good or bad, but remembered seeing it on one of those Travel Channel or Food Network shows or something similar. I won't lie. I'm kind of a chicken when it comes to trying new things. I border on being picky and am definitely weird when it comes to burgers. There is only one other place that I'll actually go to specifically for the burger. In fact, if forced to choose, I'll normally pick a black bean burger because I always worry that them meat is going to be sketchy. Anyway, I digress. So we go here and I order the Enough Said burger. It comes with aged cheddar, homemade bacon ranch sauce, and potato chips. Because I'm obsessed with cheese, I had them add some blue cheese to it, as well. Instead of fries, I opted for fried green beans. After placing our orders, we were given the name "Beyonce" (which I thought was hilarious) and we went to wait. It was then that I noticed on the receipt that I had received a .03 discount for being a "nicest person". It was only .03, but it made my day, seriously! We waited for our food after getting drinks (both the blueberry lemonade and watermelon sweet tea were hits) and I admired the scenery and the Chuck Norris quotes on the bathroom walls. I gathered several different types of pickles from the pickle bar and waited. Soon, the food was up. And since I've already rambled enough, I'll just keep it short and sweet. It was amazingly good. The burger was cooked perfectly to my liking (well done), the cheese and sauce added good flavor without being overpowering, and the chips added an awesome crunch. The meat itself actually tasted like something I would get off the grill in the backyard. The fried green beans were some of the best I've had. My partner in crime got the Kevin Bacon...or something with a lot of bacon. Honestly, I was too busy wolfing down mine to care about his. Not lying when I say this was the first burger I've ever finished in its entirety. Usually I get tired of the meat and eat the cheese and bun. I was so excited at the end of the meal that I decided to try one of their adult shakes. I got the Oreo and Amaretto one and it too was amazing. The shakes are made with custard, so they have a slightly different taste and consistency than regular shakes. The only reason that it's not getting five stars is because it was a little pricey, as others have mentioned. Two burgers, fries, fried green beans, and two drinks were right at $26. My adult shake and his regular shake were about $14 combined. Not something I'd want to spend every day, but I didn't regret it at all! read more

Straight up "mouth-gasm". From my big Tex burger w bacon to my fried pickles! Every thing was scrum-diddly-umtious. This place is rad. You walk in through a side door, order at a counter, (get a tattoo discount if you are awesome enough), get assigned a name and find a spot to eat. I got a $.07 discount, not much to be thrilled about but funny enough to mention. Instead of being a number or giving your name for them to call, they assign you a name based on your gender, I was cinderella! Food: awesome! Not fall off your seat uhmazing, but a damn good burger. I got the lots a shroom on a gf bun. Do yourself a favor and order their ranch, the made in house peppercorn ranch is fall off your seat UHMAZING. Concept is very cool! Different meats than the usual burger joint available, seasonally. Definitely for those who want to try something different or just want a good burger!
