Meeting up with a balikbayan friend, I was challenged to think of a place where he could eat the Pinoy food he might have missed without condemning myself to eating what I usually have here. So I brought him to Twist, which offers Filipino comfort food with a twist, and it did not disappoint.
Approaching the restaurant, my friend already praised the design of the place. It looks like a well-organized, well-lit, rustic country home. Waiting for the food was not boring for everything about the place was pleasant to look at.
When our food arrived, we were happy with the presentation and the dishes looked really yummy and filling. My friend's order was Taal Breakfast which was, in my opinion, the perfect Pinoy breakfast. It has garlic rice, daing, longganisa, tapa and egg. All the best Pinoy breakfast viands in one meal!
Meanwhile, my order was Paella Pasta. The twist in this dish is the substitution of pasta for rice. But all the other ingredients of the traditional paella were used: shrimp, mussels, squid, chorizo and saffron. It was very tasty, but also not too salty nor too oily.
Eating here was really an enjoyable experience both for the palate and for the eye. read more
