I now go straight to Rodin's market whenever I'm in town, which is about every other week; my parents are 90 so I am in Modesto often helping them out. Like, it was noticeably super weird, especially because they were being friendly to the customer before my wife, and then it was our turn and it was like a switch turned off. In the absence of any other obvious explanation, it seems like it's because my wife isn't white and the previous customer was. I'm also white, and have never had a problem here, but this interaction left me extremely uncomfortable. I see a previous review also mentions their seeming uncomfortability interacting with brown people and it doesn't look like anything has changed in that regard. Edit: I see in the not recommended reviews there's someone who had a similar experience with the same lady a few months ago. Maybe there's an innocuous explanation but the previous reviews kind of removes the benefit of the doubt so I'm going to take this interaction at face value and no longer patronize this business.
