When they moved campuses in 2015 that's when it all started going downhill. They had to renovate an office building to be the foundation for the upbringing of kids. We didn't have any real grass; we played kickball on a patch of turf. The hallways and cafeteria felt like that of a hospital's and the classrooms were white walls and brown carpet. When I started struggling with my mental health in middle school, there was no support system, I literally had to tell the Dean all of my problems. Everyone was the same and bland. Also the change in teachers was so frequent and confusing like you'd have a teacher for one year and then they'd leave the school and you'd be taught by another teacher who was just starting their first year. The tuition is expensive for such little resources like the computers we used were from 2005, no yearbooks, discontinued bus services (I had to ride the public bus for 30 minutes everyday), there was no sense of community or understanding for students. Overall if you want your kids to attend school and not an internship, don't send them here.

When we moved to this area, I toured a handful and I can say Harper has been by far the best place we have sent our child to. It's incredibly nurturing, calm, and serene. All the teachers are so kind to the kids. During the tour I was told it's academic here, but after sending my child here, I would say there's a great balance between learn and play. They are also exposed to so many different topics, subjects, and interests- from science, music, alphabets, sports, numbers, cooking, cars, and so much more. When the kids learn, they are learning together in a group and cooperatively. When I ask my son everyday how school was, he will mainly talk about his friends because that's what made the most impact to him daily. On the weekends and holiday break, he always asks if he can go to school, which he's never done before. We are very happy and are grateful for all the teachers and staff for making our son's early childhood education journey so magical and fun.

Have spotted Peter Cottontail and friends hopping around the bushes. The wild turkeys at the tiny park about 3 blocks from the school were harmless. The coyote was closer, only 1.5 blocks away from the school. It nonchalantly strolled along the sidewalk in broad daylight. Great school but be careful of their real life mascot.

We moved here from Tiburon and I thought we were spoiled over there with top notch schools. And behold... this elementary school is amazing. The teachers are fabulous, and the level of academic excellence here is only matched by its diversity. The 5th graders all get iPads to use during the year, and the teachers are communicative and really invested in helping the children be successful. This is one of the best elementary schools in the state. It is also beautiful, well-designed, and filled with wonderful staff and diverse, intelligent, kind children.

That's what we called ourselves :( I miss camp and this school a lot and if you are looking for an elementary school for your children and are in the area I really recommend this your child will probably be happy here. And of course there are bad times, but looking back I loved this school and it is a really good school and none of my teachers were mean me personally they were all nice and stuff and only got mad when kids misbehaved. Also in 5tb grade there's a waterpark the last Friday of school and the clap o ut the last day where all the kids clap for the Graduatinf 5 th graders and they get food tooo every grade the last day. Most importantly, the kids really look forward to going! Here are the things we love most about Diablo hills country school: - flexible hours and reasonable pricing - incredible outdoor play area for the kids - kind teachers and communicative administration - so many fun and enriching activities - we also really like that it's family owned with a long history in the area.. that's hard to find these days.

We visited many other schools, but none of them made us feel like our child's happiness and safety were truly the priority. Many were Montessori programs with rigid classroom settings and rules that we felt were unnecessary for kids at this age. The family-run team at DHCS has always made us feel like partners in raising our daughter. Communication has been great and it's clear they really know each child individually. They've been flexible with schedule changes and even welcomed us back without requiring re-enrollment when we briefly tried a school closer to home after our second child was born. We continue to do the 30-minute drive each way because of how much benefit we've seen this school provide to our daughter. Over the years we've seen our daughter become more confident, social, and excited about learning, which has been wonderful to watch. They teach the kids about different holidays and cultures and always find a reason to celebrate. We also really appreciate how diverse the student body and teachers are, which helps create a welcoming environment where kids are exposed to many different backgrounds. They're not the cheapest school and not the most expensive, but for us it has absolutely been worth it. Every concern or piece of feedback we've provided has always been taken with great care and met with a professional, non-defensive attitude. A huge added bonus is the location -- the police station is right next door, which gives us extra peace of mind as parents. They also have a giant playground with all kinds of outdoor activities for the kids, and they strongly encourage outside play. The only downside is that they don't have a third location in Castro Valley or Hayward. One can dream... hint hint, Miss Angie and Miss Coco :)
