The original price was $1000.00 more than any other estimate... when I pushed back on Mr Murphy about this because I felt as though he was trying to take advantage of me, and explained the buyer of my property really wanted him because she found him here on Angie's list, he came down the 1000.00 immediately, like he had overcharged to begin with The work was completed and three weeks later my tenant moved out so I could close on the property, the utilities were to be left on as it was the winter, I inspected the property and all was fine. When I went back to the property 3 days later I found out the electric had been shut off! Which in turn shut off our boilers for heat, and it was 40* in the house! When I called the electric company to get it turned back on the told me Twin City hadn't had their work inspected from the town so we could not get it turned back on. I called the owner Mike Friday and Saturday with NO response, finally on Sunday when I left and irate voicemail he called back and came to the house and said it was an oversight by his office... instead of appropriately fixing the problem, he ILLEGALLY cut off the lock out tag from National Grid, and asked us to keep it quiet. We had over $5500.00 in damages that our insurance claim denied because the service had been turned off due to the negligence of Mike Murphy and his company. While we were doing repairs and working with our insurance, Mr Murphy claimed it was his error, asked our deductible so he could cover it and said if insurance denied our claim he would work it out with us. Once we let him rectify the illegal work he did and get the town inspection, we never heard from him again. Our attorney sent him a letter with the charges and he is now claiming WE were responsible for the inspection! I understand it was an oversight not to get the inspection done, but it was his responsibility and that caused major damage at our property! He is untruthful, unethical, and we will be moving forward with a lawsuit. I hope his conscious will kick in and he will rectify the situation! read more

Getting a electrician to come to come to your house, on-time, with reasonable cost and have the job done quickly is amazing. For a recent project I had called ten different companies, four called me back, three gave me quotes, one quote was insanely expensive for a simple job. The other was very cheap, yet day by day, "oh, we got busy see you tomorrow." Ummmmm. No. I work. Twin City gave me an estimate, when they said they would. Mike from Twin City Electrical came out to check out the fire hazard of a breaker box in the house that my partner and I just bought. That box was an absolute mess and needed to be replaced ASAP. Our home inspector took one look at it and laughed, saying that he couldn't believe that the house was still standing. Needless to say, that was a major priority in terms of renovation order of operations! Mike was very matter of fact when he came out to look at what we had. He explained what needed to be done with the box itself, as well as with the space around the box in order to meet Tonawanda codes. I'll be honest, when he first quoted a price, I felt like it was a bit high. But I'm not afraid of telling someone when I think the price is high and I appreciated that Mike was willing to work with me. After a little discussion we ended up at a price that I felt fit our budget. When it was time to actually complete the job, Mike came out with two of his crew members and made sure that everyone was on the same page about what was getting done. He then left his two assistants to finish the box and run a new line up the side of the house. I can't say enough good things about the guys he had helping him. They were friendly, professional, and clearly knew what they were doing. (My husband knows a bit about electrical work but in Tonawanda you need to be licensed. His familiarity though was enough to be certain at least that the work was done well.) I'm definitely someone who likes to compare before I commit to any expenditure, so definitely call around compare pricing for your job. But I was extremely happy with the quality of the work and with the level of professionalism, so in your comparison shopping I would recommend including Twin City Electrical. read more

Called for estimate on comolete service replacement. Had to call him twice. Then when he finally showed he decided to argue about main breaker size. Said he'd call with estimate. Never did. That's fine. Wasn't going to use him anyway. He's obviously used to dealing with people who know less than he does. I've been an industrial electrician for 40 years so didn't work with me. I hired Twin City on the basis of their good Yelp reviews, but I was disappointed. I was charged $200 to evaluate my circuit breaker box and told that a couple thousand dollars of repairs needed to be made. The electrician had me write the check out directly to him "to save taxes" and not to the company. I then hired another electrician for a second opinion and was told that the repairs Twin City recommended were completely unnecessary. The box was certified by the second electrician to be in perfectly good working order. read more

Pros: Courteous, efficient, and professional. The two workers at my house did a good job with the projects they were hired to complete. They even pointed out a mistake done by a previous electrician and made some adjustments to make it more functional until it could be fixed properly. They would have fixed it more if they had the right parts with them. They also returned to make a some tweaks to their work a few days later; promptly after I called. Service was excellent. Cons: Expensive (I believe). I bundled a few small projects and a few more ideas were suggested to me by Mike. Like most contractors he steered away from providing a project by project price breakdown even when I asked for one. I was on the fence about one of the "suggested" projects, but it was made to sound like a cheap add-on. However, one of the workers spent the whole time doing that one "add-on", while the other guy knocked out the main projects quickly and easily. Based on watching them work I'm guessing I paid close to double what I should have and well more than double had I not gone along with the "add-ons". (This was confirmed from a quote from another electrician, a few days afterwards, who came to fix the breaker problem Mike's crew had identified). It's my mistake because I agreed to the work and the price, but I'm still disappointed. Usually I get at least 2 quotes, but this time I was sick of things not working correctly and didn't do my homework. Lesson learned. Summary: I would suggest you figure out what you want done, keep it simple, and then stick to your plan. Then get a 2nd quote. If the price is close then go with Twin City or try to negotiate it down. read more

I called what I believed to be Twin Cities yesterday to schedule an apt (there may have been issues with the phone). I had taken a half day from work and was waiting for them to show up. I called after about a half hour of waiting and spoke with Mike. I told him a had spoken with someone and he told me it was not his employee?. I got the feeling that he was having an issue with his phone. Regardless, he stated that I did not have a scheduled appt with him. I was none too pleased, however, Mike told me he was having some issues with Verizon. I thought this was BS. Mike told me to hold on and he would see what he could do. I had two guys out within an hour. I am really appreciative that when things don't go right, he was able to accommodate me. He wasn't the cheapest, but his customer service was exceptional. His guys were excellent and professional. About two hours after his guys left I got a call from Mike asking if I was the Verizon guy. I am not, but I wish him best of luck with them.
