We purchased a house this summer and for every issue we've encountered, a common question has been…read more"Your inspection didn't catch that?" Not something any new home owner wants to keep hearing. Like the previous reviewer, we found an ant problem. There was an external faucet that fell off when I touched it and pumped water out into the street. Looking closely at that, it was heavily corroded and held on by duct tape. All the pipes in the kitchen froze this winter - again the amount of gap filler and insulation stuffed up in the cracks (clearly visible from the basement) should have been a clue. Had we known that, we could have taken steps to remedy that before the sub-zero temperature hit. Overall, avoid Mark as an inspector. I'll be posting this review elsewhere too. I will also be reaching out to my realtor to suggest he stop recommending their services as well. For your money and sanity, use someone else!

Such a bummer... My husband and I bought our first home recently & we thought we had a clear…read morepicture of what we were purchasing. We hired Mark at Pro-home inspections upon recommendation by our agent. His assistant was very nice & willing to try to fit us in within a very short timeline, which was very helpful. Mark showed up on time, was friendly & had a fair bit of experience under his belt with old homes in St. Paul. (30+ years) We thought he did a thorough job, until we closed on the house & moved in. Two days after closing - before even moving our furniture in - we figured out that our new home had a carpenter ant infestation. Mark had found a bit of rotting wood around the windows of the house during the inspection, but didn't flag it as anything that was overly worrisome. (it was on our list to repair soon after moving in) He failed at taking an opportunity to investigate further to see if there was any possibility of infestation. We quickly found a LARGE hole filled with sawdust next to a rotting window in the basement (the ants had been busy for a few years prior to the sellers wanting to vacate!) and holes outside under the exterior window sill of the kitchen (which was completely hollow, my husband could easily push a finger through the sill!), just above the rotted basement window. If we had any idea of this, we would have negotiated with the sellers on price, or walked away. It's very frustrating to move into a new home & not be able to enjoy it due to someone not being thorough enough on the job! Mark, in the future, please look THOROUGHLY around windows for signs of rot, inside & out. If there is rot, CHECK FOR ANTS, especially in the basement!
