Today I took my Yorkie and biewer Terriers for grooming here and I was very happy. Years ago when I used to live in the area are used to bring my then Yorkie here as well. There was a Covid friendly drop off outside so that no customers came in and pick up was done the same way. I had specific instructions for both dogs and they followed them quite nicely! Very happy and will be back definitely recommend coming here! read more

I can't say enough good things about Twickenton. I have been taking my dogs there for grooming for over 30 years, even though I now live farther away. Today I took my rescue dog in for grooming, and he was, as I expected, difficult. Elisha was wonderful with him, and we discussed the best way to handle him in the future. They are not daunted by misbehaving dogs! The women who work there are true animal lovers, and they know dogs and dog behavior. The owner, Christine, is terrific. Years ago, when I had a really difficult mini-poodle, I would bring him in after hours when there was less activity, and she would groom him while I was there. read more

Wish more businesses were like this: small, honest, local, unpretentious, hard working, great service and care. Five stars.

Recently picked our dog up from the groomer which came highly recommended by many locals. Also, a major plus that it's in close proximity to our home. We were charged $95 for I don't know what. He just had his nails trimmed at the vet. His hair is a mess and smells the same. He's not a dog breed that needs a fancy haircut. My daughter just filled a grocery bag with the hair she brushed off of him immediately after pick up. I understand he's a large dog, so I was expecting to pay around $75, but I was hoping his coat would of at least looked and smelled good. They didn't say what they did upon pickup and didn't provide a receipt. When we got home he was bouncing off the walls and drank water for about 5 minutes straight. I understand the groomer may have been a bit stressful for him, but I'm not happy at with the results and cost at all! read more

To start off terrible customer service Outrageous pricing Terrible grooming (nails not trimmed, uneven haircut, red marks and bumps all over) Poor treatment- My dog normally is a very happy social dog, when he came back however he was very very aggressive wouldn't allow any of us to get near him and overall seemed like a completely different dog. I called them to complain about this and they never denied it just offered to take my dog back free of charge (which obviously I would not be doing) Please do not take your dog here for yours and his/hers sake. read more

Took great care of our old man cat. Gave him a bath and an excellent lion cut. He looks great, smells great, and is doing so much better now with all his mats gone. Very reasonable price, and great to work with. Will return! read more

My family and I are extremely livid, disappointed, traumatized and DISGUSTED by the poor service given to our cat Calvin. Calvin went in today for a bath, trim and nail clipping but none of this was done. Instead, he was HALF SHAVEN!! (I did not see my cat until I drove off because with the new COVID regulations, the cat could only be delivered via his carrier). He is a long- haired Main Coon, who should not have been shaved in the first place. They called me to get my cat and stated "Calvin was being difficult and you'll get what you get today". The tone of the conversation already was rude and unprofessional. Not only were the rest of the services not provided, but they also upcharged us for the haircut that should have been between $50-80 but was now $110!!! When I expressed my deep frustration about the entire situation, the manager Peggy suggested I take him to the vet and stated "see if they charge you any cheaper". This comment alone was extremely insulting and disrespectful, because money is not an issue when it comes to proper services being provided. I felt discriminated against because this unprofessional interaction would not have taken place with a Caucasian family and that is a fact!! They did not even apologize at all for what happened and just told us they charged extra because they were "put in harms way and it took two people to do his hair". He has been going to this specific groomer for over 2 years now and they know him well enough. If they did not feel comfortable, for what ever reason, they should have just called me to pick him up and did nothing at all rather than leave my cat half shaven. Calvin is so traumatized now by this cruel experience and has been hiding under the bed and will not even allow us to administer his daily insulin. Unfortunately, due to all of this, we cannot even take our annual holiday photos because of the way his fur has been severely butchered. I am extremely furious and distraught by this entire situation. All of this is honestly animal abuse, which I told them. Therefore, I contacted my attorney immediately after the conversation with the groomer. I highly discourage anyone from going to this establishment because they are extremely disrespectful, inhumane and lack empathy. read more

I realize it's a problem with Covid but most businesses were allowing you to go in with a mask. I have never been to this place I had to drop my cat off at the door!! I was unable to go in to see what the place looked like. When I picked my cat up I tipped the girl without seeing my cat because she was in her box. I got home to see that she was barely shaved, her nails are still long they did a terrible job!! I definitely would not go back read more

I took my new dog to Twickerton for his first grooming. I had had him for about a month, and he was a total sweetheart, just the sweetest, most loving dog you could ever meet. After Twickerton got done with him, he transformed into a vicious, snarling beast who attacks anyone who comes remotely close to him. A year later, this is still the case. I don't know what they did to my dog, but I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. For shame, Twickerton. read more

I was put a little aback by this place. First time I went I wasn't told it was cash/check only so I showed up and wasn't able to get my dog until I went across the street and paid the atm fee at 7/11. Seriously.. do NOT come here if you want someone to listen to what you want done to your pet. I booked my Cavalier King Charles here for a puppy/summer cut. My boyfriend brought her and they asked if that's what we really wanted. He called me and I said yes, please tell them short. When he picked her up, her hair was still long. They only touched her legs, she looked horrible and it was nothing that we asked. I felt robbed, they took my money and didn't do what was asked of them. They told him he can bring her back if short is what we REALLY want but considering we made it clear in the beginning, I refused to give my dog to someone who was so disrespectful of our wishes. Very upsetting. read more

We have 2 cocker spaniels and a bulldog. We have been going for nearly 10 years, and they know my dogs by name and do an EXCELLENT job!! However, they are pricey. My bulldog doesn't really need to be groomed, just nail trimming and a bath. They want $50+ for that!!! Also, if your dog is matted, prepare for him/her to be shaved.... But on the bright side, they always come back looking and smelling amazing. Depending on the time of year you bring them, they get a festive neckerchief too. 4th of July, flags, Christmas, Santa hats etc. Overall, Twickenton is pricey, but does a very nice job :) read more

Literally the WORST grooming I've ever experienced - my dog even appears embarrassed to leave the house. I asked for a face, leg and private trim. When I arrived to pick up my pup I was completely overwhelmed with the groomers "suggestions"/opinions - and then they brought my pup out and I was speechless. It legitimately looked like the groomer closed her eyes and cut! I'm so sad but know it will grow back! read more

I have been taking my toy poodle here for grooming for almost 12 years... he always come back smelling fresh, looking like a little model... the cuts always look PERFECT! My dog gets his grooming done by Sue. Furthermore, i worked there years ago as the "dog washer" and can attest to them treating the animals well there. They know most of the animals that come there as their owners are usually devoted to his place and for good reason! Each animal has their own little profiles, with special requests/considerations/ need for certain shampoos... and communicate those needs well to the one another...so that they always know what's up with each pet. One thing i can say is that my dog HATES the groomers... and is horrified to be left there... big deal!! He is also horrified of the Vet, and his owner leaving him anywhere!! I dont know any animals that like being washed, blow dried, and picked at! One thing i would watch out for however, is how unkempt your dog is going into the grooming session. If your dog is slightly matted... they WILL charge you like $15 or more extra! Kind of counter-intuitive i guess, as you ARE going there to get him groomed... but you have to also appreciate how much extra time/effort it takes to detangle that mess. read more

I have taken my Portuguese Water Dog to several grooming salons. He always came out looking like a laberdoodle! There is nothing wrong with laberdoodles, but he is a PWD. I took him to Diane at Twickenton, and will never go anywhere else!!! He looks fantastic! They know what each breed is supposed to look like. Diane has a great way with dogs. Jerry Lee is not nervous when we walk in, and is always happy when I pick him up. Also, there prices are the same as the "big box" grooming place we went to before. I highly recommend Diane, and Twickerton. read more

Dropped our 11 year old miniature schnauzer off at 8:30am for grooming appointment and picked her up at 3:00pm. After keeping her all day was told they couldn't groom her and that she needed to be tranquilized and charged us for given her a shampoo. Our dog has been to groomers her whole life without issues. Very bad experience here and we will never go back. read more

I have a little Boston Terrier who wouldn't need a groomer at all except for the fact that he detests having his nails cut. Really, I just can't do it myself and prefer to leave it to the professionals. And Twickenton has some real pros! I warned the groomer up front that Eric hates having his nails cut. She took him to the table (where I could still see him, which is always nice) and had an assistant pat and comfort him while the first groomer placed a large plastic Elizabethan collar around his neck. No other groomer has ever done this for him before and it worked very well. He wasn't twitchy or desperate to flee; he was still scared and unhappy, but he was well-behaved enough that they clipped his nails then Dremeled off the rough edges. I wish that a toenail clip cost less than $15, but for the ease and speed and friendliness of all the staff I encountered, I will definitely go back. read more

I have only ever had large male dogs who did not need haircuts. Enter Ms. Gigi Jane the Shih Tzu and I find myself needing a dog groomer but I had specific needs of how I wanted her to look. We wanted her to have the full bow glam look, how can you not with a little girl dog? The groomer who she saw today I believe was named Diane, I could be wrong, but she did a beautiful job on our little princess! Very communative on the intake and a good 3 hour turn around. My mother also gets her dogs groomed here and she loves the cuts they give her cockapoos. We will be back! read more

What a disaster! We were so excited that groomers were finally back in business after quarantine, but we could have saved $120 by SHAVING our beautiful labradoodle ourselves. He went in a cuddly teddybear and emerged a skinny naked dog. The greater gruffly warned that they might need to shave him because he was matted, but he was no more matted than he has been in the past, so I asked that they simply do the best they could. Instead, I should have turned around and left. Even if she was right that shaving was the only option -- which I highly doubt -- they have some nerve charging $105 (plus we left a $15 tip because we feel bad for the staff) for a hack job even I, with no grooming experience, could have done myself. Maybe even with my eyes closed. Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place after two cat grooming sessions. Let me elaborate. The first time we took our fluffy son to this place, they were incredibly friendly at the shop. The shop, like most pet grooming locations, was a bit hectic. There is a small waiting area, and then you pass your pet through a dutch door. The turnaround was fairly normal; a few hours. The cost is highly competitive. However, when we got home, we noticed that SEVERAL of our cat's whiskers were trimmed fairly short. We knew this was not normal or good for the cat. We also knew that there was nothing that anyone could do about it after the fact, and hesitated calling. We did decide to tell them. They had no idea what we were talking about, and asked us to bring the cat back in for them to see what we were talking about. Now, I don't know about anyone else's cat, but riding around in the car for 20 minutes in his carrier is a fun time for our guy. I told them that that was pretty much out of the question. The woman spoke with the cat groomer and she assured her that they don't clip whiskers. It wasn't just one either, it was MANY. So many that we figured it wasn't an accident that maybe the cat just moved suddenly and got snipped. After talking with the very pleasant woman on the phone for awhile, she offered us half off at our next visit. That seemed fair and about the only thing any of us could do at that point. We finally went back for a second cut. We were worried to go back because of the last time, but decided to do so because they assured us, were very pleasant, and offered us the discount. When I made this appointment I specifically requested soft paws to be put on our cat (temporarily for medical reasons) and to be washed only with hypo-allergenic shampoo. The woman made no comment about these and we scheduled the appointment. When we took our cat in, we handed them the soft paws and we were told they don't do that. Part of the reason for us bringing the cat to the groomer in the first place was to have these put on. They agreed to do it anyway, but told us for future reference that they do not do that. We picked up our kitty in a reasonable amount of time. He looked beautiful, no clipped whiskers, and he smelled lovely and felt softer than ever. However, when we went to pay, they were going to charge us the full amount. When I reminded them of the discount, they told us that it had been too long since our last visit (it was only about 9 months and they never mentioned that the discount had an expiration). They were extremely nice and when I had persisted, they immediately gave us the discount. So, my mixed review is based on very pleasant customer service, even though they seemed to be giving mixed messages about different things. Again, the grooming was perfect save for the whisker trimming which I'm sure was an accident. They only take cash or check, so this could be an inconvenience. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. I have been going for more that 10 years. Mostly they do an outstanding job grooming our dogs. That part is a five plus. That's why I keep going back. However they are often quite grumpy and it's never clear if it's because they don't like you or don't like each other or aren't treated very well by the owner, etc. It's a very strong feeling sometimes and other times, they treat you as if you are family. It's sort of like being in an abusive relationship. You're afraid to leave in case you can't find anything better so you put up with the rudeness. My husband now refuses to go there but I would recommend trying them. Perhaps if they ready these reviews they'll start being a little nicer. read more

My dog came back with the most horrible cut! Some of the services we did not even get! My dog had crooked cut on ears, what were you people thinking about while you cut his ears! I have to have it all redone, and you know my neighbors wanted to know the name of the place so that they would not go there. We had gone there 5 years ago and had not returned due to the 3 places that opened in West Roxbury! Please think about looking at the pets you groom and do all the aspects you claim you do ! The groomer grabbed the money from my hand and told me how much tip she felt she deserved! Terrible customer service! read more
