I was out with my daughter who wanted a special treat. This is in the old Hanji location off of Stirling Road and Davie Road Extension. My daughter ordered an Iced Strawberry Marshmallow Matcha and a Nutella Croissant. I ordered an Iced Banana Split Dulce de Leche Coffee for myself and an Iced Coffee Bombom for my husband. I wasn't impressed with my first taste of my coffee and thought it just tasted like coffee but after mixing everything completely, it was really good! I had some leftover coffee and drank it the next day and it was even better! I had a sip of the Coffee Bombom which was also very good. I think it had marshmallow cold foam and 2 shots of espresso. My daughter was happy with her drink. The Nutella Croissant was heated up and the box it was in was nice and warm. She ate it while I was driving and I could hear the crispiness of it as she was cutting into the flaky layers. She let me try some and it was delicious! I was really impressed with how fresh it was, especially since it was around 2 pm. The coffee that they use is from Wells Coffee which is a local family owned coffee roaster. This place was okay. I got a dulce de leche iced coffee and it was pretty good, along with a tequeño & beef empanada. My main issue is the service. When I got there, I was the only in line to order and the place wasn't really packed either. I ordered, sat down and opened my laptop to work a bit. I noticed it was taking a while, but also realized there was only person working in the back for the food, and the guy in front was doing all the drinks himself, so I gave the benefit of the doubt. I then noticed that the people coming in after me were getting their orders before I was. After a bit, I went up to the guy and turns out my coffee had just been sitting out for God knows how long. I'm irritated because 1. You brought other people their order to their table, so why didn't you bring me mine if you obviously saw that I was sitting down with my laptop open, not waiting on the side as if it was a to-go order. 2. Instead of at least alerting me that my drink was ready so I can go up and get it, you just let it sit there while chit chatting with two customers. 3. It took 30 minutes for a tequeño and empanada to be warmed up, and even then you gave it to me in a to go bag while everybody else got theirs on a nice plate. Mind you, he didn't even ask if it was for here or to go when I initially ordered, but at the same time, if it was to go, I would've waited by the register, but I literally sat down with my laptop open, so I thought it would be pretty obvious I was there to dine-in. There was a girl that sat next to me who came in maybe 5 minutes after, and we both gave each other a look like "where is our order?" And of course, it was just sitting out. The jury is still out on how I feel about this place. I came in the early afternoon. It was not busy, but people were sitting around with their coffee and doing work. Someone was waiting for their order and he seemed to be waiting for a while. It seemed like there was only one person working. I was asked to wait a minute while she finished up the person's waiting order which I had no problem with I was kinda undecided on what I wanted to get anyways. My heart landed on the strawberry Matcha. It might have been called something else because it has strawberry cold foam on it. I was told I could only get it in a large and with the substitution of milk, It was almost $11. It's not something I would get again even with the strawberry puree and the strawberry cold foam. It's located in the plaza where one of my favorite dumpling places used to be, this automatically made me excited to try this place. As soon as you walk in you notice the amount of brightness and sunlight coming inside. I love a place with great lighting. From the pictures it didn't seem like there was a lot of seating, but there actually is plenty. Service was fast and I got my order quickly. There were food options, but this visit I only ordered an iced hazelnut latte. I couldn't really taste the hazelnut flavor. Customer service was okay, but I think they were so busy that this was probably why the taste and service were both off. I will come back again and try a different coffee flavor. read more

Came here to cowork and it had a good amount of space and a pretty extensive menu. I'm a matcha girly and loved the variety of matcha they had here. They had some fun drinks like the strawberry marshmallow, tiramisu matcha, and even banana foam. Luckily, there was three of us, so we got one of each of them. I got the banana foam and liked it. I loved that they had this option here as I know this is quite a popular flavor for matcha. I also loved that they had tiramisu as a matcha option instead of only coffee. All of us enjoyed our drinks. The inside was a great space with nice natural lighting. This cozy, quiet cafe is located in the corner the plaza next to Mango Tree and other restaurants. It can be easy to miss it at first since it's on the side, but as you get close to their front side with scribbled windows and light up lamps inside, you'll notice the place. The latte and beef empanadas (that arrived scorching hot) were very tasty. Price-wise, it's kind of steep, but nothing will taste bad, I guarantee you. My latte also came with a little biscotti piece! Shanina (hope I spelled it right!) was welcoming and quick. She didn't hesitate to change my order after there was a little miscommunication. I mistakenly thought they served tiramisu flavored matcha. That was before deciding on the empanada. The pins with silly, cute messages that were by the register got my attention -- I decided get a couple of them! Cute place with good options. I got the matcha as recommended with lavender for $9.65 but it wasn't the best. Matcha are really a hit or miss. Music is a little loud if you are coming to work/ study. My friend ordered the hibiscus iced tea, and it had absolutely no flavor. For a while now, this cafe populated on my Yelp search for coffee shops in the Davie area. The cafe is on the NE corner of the plaza which has been upgraded in recent years. Today, I finally got the opportunity to try the cafe. Loved the green plants throughout which provided a zen ambiance. The barista was super friendly and prepared a Macchiato Italiano using Wells Coffee No. 9 grinds consisting of a medium roast blend - chocolate with notes of dried fruit and citrus. The presentation was excellent: a shot glass of warm coffee with a thick white creamy head. The glass was centered on a green porcelain saucer and mini metal stirring spoon with a Lotus Biscoff flat cookie. The coffee had a rich unique taste and was complemented well by the cookie. Bags of Wells Coffee grinds are on sale for $17.00. Lots of pastries are offered including a variety of empanadas. The cafe has several board games available to customers, promoting a relaxing yet fun environment. The bathroom was clean with weathered cement flooring and white tiled walls. read more

I wanted to like this place. The ambiance is soooo cute. Love the colors, the wall art/decor, and the overall vibe. Menu has lots of different items too which is fun. Maybe other things on the menu are better so I don't want people to not give this spot a shot! I got a dirty matcha (matcha with a shot of espresso). I had coconut milk for the "dairy" and maple syrup for the sweet. I do like that they had a lot of dairy free options like oat and almond too. For the food I got the New York bagel. The menus says bagel with cream cheese, avocado, and salmon. Weird... came out with pickles too. I like pickles so I wasn't disgusted but I thought it was an interesting combo and also thought that this should have been advertised on the menu because it's not a traditional combination. Usually the saltiness comes from capers. Overall I know why they added them but the bagel was still a little bland. But it was crispy! And the ratios were really good! Service was really nice and it was quick too! So I give the service a 5/5. Really my only reason for the 3 is that I think the flavors of both the matcha and the bagel need a little improvement. The ambiance was wonderful--lush and full of plants, which made the space feel so cozy and inviting. My son tried the tiramisu matcha and it was absolutely perfect, with just the right balance between the rich tiramisu flavor and the earthy matcha--you can really taste both. This coffee was pretty strong & I didn't really taste the caramel in my coffee as much so I definitely had to ask for an additional pump. The prices for this coffee shop are pretty average ranging from $4+ depending on the size of the coffee. There's a lot of pastries to choose from as well as sandwiches. I ordered the tuna sandwich & this was $9. This was the perfect lunch! I'll definitely come back to try more menu items when I am in the area. It was so considerate for them to open a coffee shop after my age that I had to give it a try! Twenty9 opened where the infamous sweet tooth & hanji used to be. And former Frosty Fox. The ambiance is super quiet at the moment and they have a simple aesthetic. Very clean coffee shop with not really much decor but just enough. I love the fact that underneath the booths they have outlets (making it convenient to charge your electronics). Also makes it a great place to do some work. I got a chance to try the iced caramel latte which was strong with a kick of sweet. Also the tuna sandwich. which I thought didn't come with much tuna and the toast was just regular, but the spinach and tomatoes made it feel super healthy and light. Very friendly service! My visit here left me annoyed for a few reasons. This place absolutely has potential, though, so I'll start with the positives: It's a clean, modern space, with an appealing array of nicely showcased treats. Wifi is good and parking is easy. Again, potential. Three significant issues for me, though. First, pricing. A 12-oz americano is $5.25 + tax, which might actually be more than I've paid for this beverage anywhere outside of an overpriced hotel or cruise ship (by comparison, at my two favorite coffee shops in the area, Helena's and Cubico, it's $3.50 and $3.95, respectively). Also related to pricing, the menu is presented in an unintuitive and unhelpful way, but I won't get into that here. Second, service. After ordering, I'd presumed that my beverage would be brought to me, or that I'd be called back to the bar to pick it up, but instead, the barista simply left the cup on the counter and disappeared into the kitchen. After waiting 5-10 minutes, I noticed a few beverages sitting on the counter and had to figure out, along with a couple other patrons, which drink was whose. Third, also service-related: I had to wait for the barista to return from the kitchen to ask for half-and-half, and when I did, she took my drink to the fridge and proceeded to pour a Ripple plant-based creamer into it. I had specifically asked for half-and-half, so if they don't carry it (which would be odd for a coffee shop), I should be told this explicitly before having a substitute (one I really don't like, in this case) added to my drink, thereby ruining it for me. Anyway, this was time and money poorly spent on a bad coffee shop experience, and I feel they're going to need to iron a few things out to reach their potential. read more

I walked into Twenty9 Coffee in Davie thinking I was just going to caffeinate and leave like a normal person. I walked out emotionally entangled, 3 empanadas deep, and spiritually awakened. Let's talk about the food. The ham and cheese empanada? Creamy. Dreamy. It whispered sweet nothings to my tastebuds. The beef empanada? Honestly? I saw my ancestors. I bit into it and immediately forgave everyone who's ever wronged me. I was chewing peace. Then came the café bombón -- sweet, rich, layered like my trauma -- and the iced coffee, which had no business being that good. Even their "regular" coffee tastes like it read poetry to the beans before grinding them. And just when I thought I had emotionally recovered, we took home alfajores -- chocolate and dulce de leche -- and I swear to you, I would square up with a grown man for the last one. Fluffy, decadent, and rude in the best possible way. It's a cozy, Argentinian-owned spot that's still growing -- which is great, because I plan on gatekeeping it until they open a second location in my heart. Or in my living room. The food was also a standout--delicious and had that homemade feel that's hard to find these days. A newer coffee shop on the block but bringing a lot to offer to the area. Serving our favorite @wellscoffees so you know the coffee is always going to be on point! Try their signature coffee bombom made with rich espresso and sweet condensed milk or a Tiramisu latte topped with a homemade cream and decorated with cinnamon and a lady finger. They have other really good choices like the lychee/coconut lemonade, mango condensed frappe, strawbrrry matcha etc. If you're hungry, they got you covered with lots of good options like the avocado toast, tequeños, empanadas, breakfast croissant w fluffy eggs, melted cheese and savory turkey. We have recently been introduced to Alfajores and needless to say WE LOVE THEM! They even have some packaged to take home if you want. Our special treat when it was all said and done was the Affogato with vanilla ice cream. Perfectly paired with Wells Coffee it definitely was a favorite. My first trip to this new shop that is just down the street. I was greeted with a warm smile and a sparkly clean pastry case. Both were very welcoming. I had an iced mocha and a lemon blueberry loaf cake. Coffee was just what my day needed and the loaf was moist, lemony and delicious. Now I want to bake my own at home! Was in the area and in need of some third wave coffee. A quick search and I find Twenty9. Inside was very cozy and definitely a place where you can grab a coffee and hang out. They also had a bunch of pasties for sale. The lady in the front was very friendly and helpful during my order. Ended up with a Cortado. It was very tasty. They use Wells coffee beans which is a local roaster in Fat Village. Been there plenty of times so I know how their stuff tasted and was happy to be able to have some of that here in Davie. Overall it was a great experience and will be popping in next time I'm in the area. If I had one thing that I'd nitpick on, it would be the milk frothing for my drink. It's cute in there. We ordered a chocolate croissant and a dulce de leche croissant. They only had Nutella not chocolate. The croissants were both very good. We also ordered two iced Matcha with strawberry. Please see the image of the Matcha, we were very thrown off by the color because it was olive green rather than bright green as it should be. The taste of the overall drink had potential but the matcha itself was blan, but we thought maybe they just use low grade matcha, so we didn't say anything. However, the next day I saw a post on their instagram of a very bright green matcha with strawberry , so I'm a little confused as to why we received the olive drab blan in taste matcha. I'm also sad we didn't receive our matcha up to par as it would be nice to have a new place as a go to for matcha with strawberry. read more

Cute place and decent staff, nothing blew me away. I went to get some studying done, maybe not the most ideal place because of the loud music but the area is clean and organized. The coffee itself was good, I got the honey latte. The price was steep and the menu was not reflective of the true price, it ended up being 9 dollars. I give this coffee shop two starts because the ambiance inside is nice, love the greenery! 1. We had to sit at a table with used coffee mugs because no one came to take them away. 2. Advertised sweet waffles, the waffles resembled Eggo Waffles, they were not homemade and were covered with whip cream syrup and some sort of blueberry compote. Never should waffles be entirely covered with whip cream syrup 3. My husband ordered a dirty, chai latte with coconut and the attendee put 6 pumps of syrup in the drink. Way too sweet 4. I ordered a strawberry matcha and it tasted pretty bland, the ingredients were not blended well making the matcha taste just like matcha. For $30 I expected more from this restaurant. Will not be back, I think the spot has potential but they need to focus more on making the coffee an experience and training on how the coffee and matcha should be blended. The first time we went to this place, a lady was serving. I ordered an Iced Matcha Pistachio. It was the best Matcha I've ever tasted. Today I took my family back here for the Matcha and breakfast. This time a young man was serving. He was the only one working and there were several customers. It was obvious that he could not handle the demand. We ordered the Matcha, Avocado Toast, Tequenos and a Croissant Sandwich. Sad to say that nothing was done properly. The Matcha was not the same as before, it was missing the pistachios, none of the ingredients were properly mixed in. It was an absolute mess. The bread on the Avocado Toast was burnt, the tomatoes were missing, horrible tasting. Similarly, the Croissant was burnt and there was no egg and cheese as stated in the description. When we pointed these things out to the young man, he stated that he could not tend to that now because there are many customers waiting and he's the only one working. This was a very bad experience for us and we have taken this little coffee shoo off of our list of places we like. We will never return. read more

Usually not a huge fan of coffee and lattes that aren't from big chains but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the coffee was!! What I will be back for is the avocado toast.
