We've been through two obedience classes with Mark and the team at Tuxedo's K9, and I can already say confidently that this is where we'll be taking our pup for all of her training, daycare, and boarding needs! Mark is SO passionate and loving towards every dog that comes into his business, and is readily available with an answer to any question we have. The facility is quite nice and all dogs are temperament tested prior to being admitted for boarding or daycare. For boarding, pups are ushered into suites as opposed to crates/cages, and attended to 24 hours a day. We have our first boarding scheduled for December and it is SO nice to know that our dog will be left in loving hands. Prices are about what I expected (a little bit higher than I thought for daycare) and I knew when adopting a dog that these new expenses would need to be incorporated into our budget. So far, we've found the return on investment to be there - as our Freddy girl is already responding better to our consistent prompts and training. YAY for pup love! read more

We enjoy the fact that daycare and boarding options are staffed 24/7 and cameras are available during the day to see what "Your baby" is up to. Like many, we adopted a quarantine pup, and adore him. We also desperately needed help learning how to train him. Mark was excellent - had great (though sometimes scary) stories, and motivates owners during the one hour sessions each week. These take place at the Pet Supplies Plus, so we haven't yet seen the facility itself. I continue to be jealous at the ease with which he gets a pup to listen to him. Spanner is doing great and we are so much better equipped to train him moving forward. We will definitely keep working on the commands we've learned in the beginner's class and when he is consistently listening, be back for intermediate training! Newest customer and must say I love Mark! Started working with him for one-on-one training for my fearful dog that growls and it is getting noticeably better. Still quite a ways to go but I can tell he knows what he's doing. He also has a calm and loving approach in his training which I like. I have done everything here with my dog, Bruno. He's had beginner and intermediate training with Mark in class. Mark also helped me when I had behavioral questions. I also take Bruno there about once of month for day care too. I love it when they post photos so I can see how he is doing. They have webcams too, but I have not went on them yet. Day care always tuckers him out and when he's back home he runs and barks in his sleep so I know he had a great time. When I got married, I put Bruno there for boarding for three days and boy was Bruno tired when he got home so he must of had fun. We have boarded our dog numerous times here and highly recommend them. The dog has it's own sleeping area and gets out each day to play with the rest of the dogs. Plenty of socialization with other dogs and you can view them on the cameras if you wish. On one occasion they called us to say there was a problem with our dog as she had, as we later found out, a urinary tract infection. We were half across the country on a trip and were a bit frantic. They took the time to take her to the vet, have her checked out, pick up the medication and give it to her while there until we could return. I cannot say enough about this place. Our only regret is that we have relocated to another state and miss having the ability to again board her here. They also have someone on site, 24/7 which is an added good feeling, knowing someone is there. read more

I have tried several Dog care companies since moving to Rochester a year ago. Here are the reasons why tuxedos is the best. 1. Capacity limits : they do not allow huge numbers of dogs at the facility. They limit it to a safe a reasonable number so that there is space for the dogs to interact. Their online booking is easy and let's you know right away if a spot is open. Be very wary of anywhere that does not require reservations. Dogs are left to roam in a packed, enclosed area 2. Staff: there is always someone supervising the dogs. Beyond that, the staff are friendly people who enjoy being with your dog. 3. Cleanliness: for a place that has dogs being dogs it doesn't smell. There's never debris or excrement on the floor. 4. Safety and culture: this is the only place you can take your dog and know he or she will be safe. I know Mark and his staff will take care of my pet and would never allow an aggressive animal to attend his facility. His temperate test is actually just that. As for culture, you walk in and feel welcomed in the facility 5. Small business owner: Mark is a local guy who is Providing an excellent service to the community. We have used Tuxedo's for boarding our dog a few times and cannot say enough on how much we liked it. Everyone is professional and really care fir the dogs. The boarding is clean and each dog has their own sleep area and get plenty of exercise daily with the other dogs. You can even see the areas on video cam from anywhere. Someone is there 24 by 7. On one occasion while we were traveling they called us to say our dog had a medical issue which was later found to be a UTI. With great luck we first ran into Mark on the 2nd day that we owned our Morkie puppy, "Peanut". We happened to be in Pet Saver getting supplies and Mark walked over to meet our new puppy. He ran to his car to get us some training sheets. We followed the sheet on house training religiously and Peanut was house trained in just under 3 weeks. I might add that even during that training period of taking her out every half hour she got the idea of taking care of her business outdoors. Then we had Mark over to our house for a private training session. It was abundantly obvious how much he loves dogs and how good a trainer he is. During that session we mentioned an upcoming trip for 10 days to Italy in the fall of 2020 that has us uneasy about leaving Peanut somewhere without us. Dear Yelp, let me set the record strait. Tuxedo K9 is one of the nicest dog day care businesses in Rochester. Now let me say why: it is clean, the video they use lets me see my dog all day, they genuinely care about you, your dog, things like training, education, nutrition, and the overall health of the dog. Tuxedo K9 has been caring for my dog since early spring 2016. Before choosing them, I did extensive research online, thur recommendations, etc. One of the places we looked to was Yelp. At the time, this business had several reviews and 5 stars. You can imagine my surprise when I saw today that this business has 2 reviews and one single bad review...bring them to 3 stars! Shame on you Yelp! This business has 13 other reviews not being recognized some with comments as far back as 2012. for those who don't see those reviews, go to the "not currently recommend" section at the bottom of the page. Shame on Yelp for making it appear that this business has less reported feedback then actually provided. This is what makes people my age want to stop using Yelp. Why do you have to ruin a good thing? I'm a big user of Yelp but not a big reviewer. To see a great business get mis-represented makes me not want to use Yelp at all. To all other "real" dog owners, Tuxedo K9 us absolutely worth trying. They take great care of my dog and helped us and will continue to help us with training in the future. read more

We love the facility and the group of people at Tuxedo's K9 Training! My not so little guy Kylo did so well and learned so much from our class there! He especially loves to play and run around with all of his friends! He gets to be social in a controlled setting at camp every week and he has a blast - he always comes home super tired so Mom and Dad can get a day off too. His energy is boundless so we appreciate the break! They have a great boarding facility too which gives each pup their own space to relax when we're busy with functions or out so he's not cooped up at home alone, there's someone there with him at all times so he can have the attention he needs and I know he safe! He even gets his own room if he spends the night! It is a quiet and clean place that we love going to! They even bring him to the groomers for us for bath time next door when he needs it so he is all taken care of and ready for us to get him at the end of the day - so convenient! We enjoyed the basic training class for our pup. Unfortunately, upon utilizing their doggy day care aspect of their business, we had a negative experience. Without notifying us, they clipped our anxious dog's nails (only the back paws) way too short. When we picked her up, they told us they cut her nails and there was a little blood. When we got her home it bled for two days, despite our attempts to contain it. We have to take her to the vet specifically, to get her nails done. We notified the owner, we did not receive an apology and it was turned onto us, for what seemed to be, not being grateful to them for taking it into their own hands. Also because we will not be coming back, we are basically punishing our dogs for no longer bringing them to socialize. A simple way to have alleviated this was a simple call to us, letting us know they were going to cut them. I am absolutely not chastising the owner for backing his employee but, two things can exist, that they support their staff but also, I'm sorry that you had a negative experience, how can we fix that.... read more

My dog did not receive her medications, despite my specific instructions. She looked emaciated when I picked her up from a 10 day boarding stay. I am glad that it was only 10 days because I'm scared to see what she would've looked like after much longer. Mark, was not very polite or helpful.
