Awesome place to board your pet. we have used them several times for boarding & every time is a great experience. they send you multiple photos of your pet while at boarding or daycare. most recently we were in a pinch and weren't able to pick up our dog at scheduled time. they had a staff member come in extra & were able to get him on the bus to drop him off at our house which alleviated so much stress. highly recommend. read more

My dog contracted kennel cough during her last two visits. Is the place well ventilated and are infected dogs quarantined? Off to the vet. They charged me an extra $15 to feed my dog. Does it take more time to scoop a cup full of food from a bag than to empty a baggy in a bowl? Paid a healthy sum for a poor grooming effort in the past as well. Oh yea; they also canceled my pick up time once which was quite inconvenient. My experience; so far not so good. read more

My little Bookie just graduated from pawsitive training with Jeff, and what a huge amount of growth in 6 weeks. Our dog went to paws and claws for 5 days of daycare. He came home with a bloody nose from being put in a crate without our knowledge or consent. He was neglected and rubbed his nose bloody. We will never be using paws and claws again. read more

We have take the teen puppy class with Jeff and our dog Rue did so well the first time, even though she could have moved up we decided to do another round. Jeff is the best trainer around and really takes the time to talk to the class and explain dog behavior. Each class started with dog socialization which we really liked after our puppy class elsewhere the dogs were so segregated. We will continue training our dog here and recommend this place to anyone. They also keep class sizes small which gives time for one on one personalization. Jeff also makes himself available to everyone for questions after class hours as well. My little dog and I did our canine good citizen test here with Pawsitive behavior. She made a lot of progress. Sometimes the setting was distracting with dog barks from the daycare area. This was both positive and negative. When I walked into the dog daycare area the employees were attentive and consistently cleaning up after the dogs. Took my shy/ nervous pup (specifically of new people) here to try doggy daycare to try to build some confidence away from home. During the temperament test they said my pup was aggressive and they recommended we pay for more training through them. My dog does not have one aggressive bone in his body (when we told people they said that about him everyone was SHOCKED) he has many friends of all sizes that he plays extremely well with. I was surprised they lacked the knowledge to read dog's temperaments. They do not let you watch the temperament test which I also found very strange. Go somewhere else that does not try to charge for extra money for more training and are actually knowledgeable about dog's temperaments. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend:( read more

My vet told us to stay away from this place and unfortunately we didn't. My poor dog has contracted kennel cough from Paws & Claws twice in the last 5 months!!!! If you want your dog to contract kennel cough, then bring them to Paws & Claws. Our dog stayed here for for the first time recently. I left a detailed set of instructions about her medication and told an employee about her medication and dosages upon drop off. Despite this, my dog was returned to me with almost all of her medications and doses unused. They did not administer over almost all of her medication. They only used two of her pills. My dog was shaking, crying, escalated, barking in our faces when we arrived and we instantly knew something was off. Both my spouse and I made requests for a staff member to call us as the manager at the facility at time of pick up indicated she knew nothing about our dog's situation. Why our dog was there and she knew nothing about her is another question...Finally after emailing a request in writing a manager called me and said a staff member made a mistake and this was why she did not get her medication but that they gave it to her twice at night and "she didn't seem anxious there." I told her that was for her behavioralist who is a doctor to assess and not the boarding staff. It was clearly detailed that her medication was to be administered daily. The manager told me she could have the owner call me. I am still waiting for that call and that was on 12/24/24 that we spoke. She indicated they don't give life dependent medications to dogs there. I can't help but think it is because their staff oversight and poor care for the dogs would put their lives at risks if they were on medications like that. My dog was not feeling well and has been on her medication several times a day for about three years. She could have had significant medical concerns and withdrawals from her medication. She was used as a bait dog in the past and has been through so much trauma before her life with us, we saved her from being euthanized. The last thing she needs is to stay at a new place without her medication that supports her needs. We want to give her the best life we can. When a facility so blatantly disregards a pet's care and makes it so obvious they do not care like Paws and Claws did they should not be in this business. The owner could not even apologize or reach out. I would never trust my dog to go here again. Also- during the tour I asked an employee if they take the dogs collars off in cages (as this is a significant known danger to dogs) she said yes. During drop off I mentioned it and the employee said they don't do that in the facility and we'd have to ask specifically for a collar or harness to be off her while caged. I was initially lied to. Another safety concern putting community pets at risk. Our dog has been to a couple other facilities with our move for boarding before settling here and they always safe guard dogs from having collars and harnesses on in their cage area. read more

My dog Ozzie and I just completed adult good dog class with Jeff. It was fantastic! Jeff is so professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. He's the dog whisperer! He makes you feel so comfortable in asking questions and if you have a specific concern with your dog what to do. I see such a huge difference in Ozzie since we started 7 weeks ago and it's all thanks to Jeff teaching Oz and me how to communicate, and giving me the skills to get Ozzie the best training. We have boarded our beloved dog here twice, so this is an admittedly early evaluation. Our big pooch is happy to go, happy to leap back into the car .. the staff is wonderful - cheerful, enthusiastic and happy to be there. They come out to your car once you arrive to drop off or pick up your pet, and escort your dog inside ... everything is very orderly. Jeff Bushorr was an excellent trainer for our teen age dog Rudy. He obviously loves dogs, and was always positive and encouraging with all the dogs in our group. Cady had her first Boarding experience at Paws and Claws and had an awesome time. The staff was terrific provided pictures and updates daily. It was such a relief to be able to go on vacation knowing that she got great care. Cady attends daycare 2 days at week and loves playing with her friends. The socialization that Cady has gotten from attending Paws and Claws is priceless. She jumps out of her seat to be dropped off and then falls asleep on the way home. We also have Cady groomed while she attends daycare and the groomers are terrific as well. The whole staff at Paws and Claws treats all the dogs as if they are their own. Just completed a training class with Trainer, Jeff Bushorr. Jeff rocks! He is obviously a trainer who loves the dogs and encourages both them and their people with positive feedback and affirmations. Jeff really helped Peanut come out of her shyness and grow in confidence. We could see her progress week to week. . . and she couldn't wait to get inside the training room to see Jeff! We highly recommend Jeff Bushorr or Fran Schoenfeld sho has also worked with Peanut. Paws and Claws is very fortunate to have Jeff and Fran on staff. I might add that we use Paws and Claws for daycare a couple of times a month and the staff is extremely attentive, friendly, and they energetically greet you with valet service bringing the dogs in and out. Our Vizsla LOVES it here! We get pictures every time she's at daycare or in for boarding. All the staff love animals and seem to love where they're working. Our pup is exhausted on the ride home and sleeps well any night she's been to see her friends. This place is top notch! Since moving to the Rochester area over a year ago, we've been on the hunt for a great place to take our pup for doggy daycare and boarding. Every place (prior to Paws and Claws) that we looked at would kennel the dogs for most of the day - even for doggy daycare. Paws and Claws allows your pup to play ALL day for doggy day care AND boarding which is fantastic! The staff there is super friendly and they really seem to care about every pup- they even send daily updates and pictures for their daycare and boarding dogs. I'm so happy to have found this place! We began using Emily's pet sitting service when she was working out of her home. It was natural for us to continue taking our senior dog to Emily's new establishment. Top notch care. Plenty of fun play interactions and relaxing, comfortable accommodations. We won't take our girl anywhere else. Every time we bring her to Paws and Claws, she's excited to go inside and when she comes home, she is exhausted for days....good signs of lots of fun.
