A horrific experience with the new ownership that required a visit to my veterinarian after a week-long stay traumatized my little lady, and I chose to never use them again. That is until the (2nd) owner chose to sell the business to Graham and Kathleen - the newest owners of Puppy Love Playcare. Similar to the original owners, Kathleen and Graham also live on site. After learning of the new change in ownership, I chose to give them a call and spoke with Kathleen for quite some time. Kathleen was forthcoming and answered all of my questions. I then decided to give Puppy Love another try and am so thankful that I took the chance! My little old lady was terrified when we first pulled up and she realized where she would be staying. I'm sure she was remembering the trauma she had experienced with the previous owner. But after picking her up from that week-long stay, I couldn't have been happier. It took Kathleen and Graham a few days to get her to let down her guard and relax, but she finally did so. And she showed no signs of stress when it was time for her to come home. After such a positive experience, I chose to use Puppy Love again for a two night stay, with the same results. This time my little lady acclimated even faster and enjoyed herself even more. If you had previously used Puppy Love prior to Kathleen and Graham's becoming the new owners and are afraid to give it another try, either because of a bad experience or reading some of the horrible reviews posted during that period of time, I would suggest putting those fears aside and giving the new owners a try. Going forward this will be the only daycare or long-term boarding facility I will use for my little old lady.

Your dog is best at home with an indoor Camera. Then it is locked away, where it can't play with other dogs that are right in front of her. Probably have no access to water, food or treats. First time I left my dog with food And treats. None of them were given to her within the six hours that she was there. Second time I dropped her off, I received her from a crate while other little dogs where roaming free and the top of her head flat. I asked what happened to her, and they told me that it's possible her hair was flat from the rain or dog drool. This third time I dropped her off is when she's peed herself when she saw me, she was again not socialized at all and locked away. You are paying $40 dollars for this. Nothing special and no Guarantee that your dog will actually be able to play or really be looked out for assuming no one was watching if dogs were drooling on her, or food and treats that you bring will be given.

She is always playing or running around having a good time. The staff at DAP are so good to the dogs. When Tilly sees them she is so happy....that is a good testament as to how they treat her. I enjoyed seeing the dog decor and how clean the place was. I kept sniffing around for something that may have fallen on the floor but no such luck; the shop is that clean. I could tell Ali was very interested in what my owners wanted because she kept running her hands over my coat to indicate what she would do. When my owners returned to pick me up I could tell my owners were thrilled. They were smiling from ear to ear, hugging Ali and heaping compliments on me. I also saw Ali give my owners a card which probably means I will be back for another appointment. I am glad because Ali made me look fabulous. I cannot wait to tell all of my friends in the neighborhood to spread the word to their owners. The Pooch Parlor is THE grooming place to go. You will look and feel like a million bucks. Love, Theo

I've walked by TPP numerous of time and then I found her work on FB. I stalked all her cute curry clients and I loved the way their haircuts came out. My sister contacted Ali through FB and scheduled an appointment to come in. She had an opening the same week. There is a small parking lot next to the building. Ali was so welcoming upon entering. She was so friendly! I dropped Bubbles off and she said to come back in an hour. I came back in an hour and Bubbles was so cute. Normally Petco and Petsmart keeps Bubbles for hours! The price was very reasonable. Ali is a one woman team. I am beyond happy with Bubbles haircut and I love supporting local businesses! I'll definitely be back!

Quick tip: Even though Cheryl provides blankets, beds etc., it's always a good idea to leave something familiar for your cat to make the transition easier. Ideally it should smell like you. I needed to board my cat, Honeybucket, for a week and was dreading taking her to the vet or worse, Petsmart, where she'd spend the entire time cowering in a tiny, exposed, and impersonal cage handled by who knows how many people. I am particularly sensitive to what goes on at "luxury" pet hotels - they hire teenagers at minimum wage with little experience. Sure these kids may have grown up with a pet, but come on, we all know that mom was really the one who took care of Fido or Mittens. A quick google search introduced me to Cheryl and I immediately sent her an email. She was quick to respond with pictures, brochures, forms, and a little about the bed and breakfast. I met with her prior to Honeybucket's stay and was impressed that every cat got their own private space and with how IMPECCABLE her house is kept. Talk about amazing odor control! I was completely at ease with entrusting her with my cat. I really liked the fact that she requires proof of vaccinations. She will take care of your cat EXACTLY per your specifications and with lots of love - the perfect balance of professionalism and compassion. During the week, Cheryl sent me updates and pictures which is above and beyond what I expected. Honeybucket had completely settled in and was so calm that Cheryl was able to give her a nail trim without any growling or biting! I know that Honeybucket was treated well because we've been back home for a few days and she has not retaliated for being "abandoned." You absolutely cannot find a better place to board your cat. Period.

My spouse and I have used Cheryl several times for home visits for our two boys. We typically space the home visit days out over our vacation, since they don't really need a personal visit every day. This tends to work out well for us. Older cats or households with single cats might need more frequent visits. They get lonely! :) Cheryl comes in, spends a few minutes with the boys, scoops their litter pan, leaves food for a couple of days, checks the mail, and then locks up. We can always tell when we return that she's been there to look in on them. They're usually fussy when we've been away, but especially fussy when they've been totally left to their own devices for the week. Cheryl's prices are also very affordable. I understand that she also boarding in her own home, kitty condo style, for those that need to be away for an extended period. While we haven't ever used the home boarding service, we would most certainly feel comfortable leaving our boys with Cheryl. We'e always had the impression that she really loves animals and treats her wards as her own. For what it's worth, I rarely give five star reviews because I feel most of them are totally inflated. Cheryl's Kitty B&B is the exception. Keep Cheryl in mind if you need to go away for a few days. She's worth every penny in peace of mind and the five stars.

At 14 years of age, Jenny is an active cat who has a mild heart murmur and asthma. She also is a bit skittish with change. I was so happy to find a place where the host was both CPR and First Aid certified. Jenny settled in quickly when she saw there was a window with BIRDS. Laurie also provided Jenny with her own quiet room ( Jenny appreciated no dogs) and lots of TLC. When Jenny got back home, she informed me that Laurie had left treats in the pickup bag. You guessed it, my cat is now chomping away on her Temptations gift from Laurie.

This office is awesome. It is really a long hike for me out to Scottsville, but I continue taking Freddy here now just because the quality of care is so high. The front desk staff is soooo helpful, kind, and loving towards every pet that walks in the door - same with the practitioners. You never feel as if you're taking up too much of the doctor's time with questions, and they have a great notification system that lets me know when Freddy is due for her boosters or monthly meds. I am hesitant to take her anywhere else since they've known my girl since she was a baby, and it is hard to find really high quality care for our pets! If you're living on the west side and looking for a wonderful care community for your cats, dogs or critters - I would recommend Riverside in a heartbeat!
