We love Tutu school! We tried a couple other dance studios and this was the best fit by far. The teachers are wonderful, so knowledgeable and patient (special shoutout to my daughter's favorite, Ms Makenzie!) We enjoy the fun, creative format while also learning REAL ballet and introducing classical ballet stories each week. the studio is beautiful and full of natural light, the classes have a super engaging structure, the recital was so fun and well run, and they offer a new diverse, socially conscious theme each month complete with a book that ties in!

Ms. Monique is amazing and my daughter fell in love with ballet even more because of her..

Since we moved here from Chicago my daughter has been asking me to check out ballet schools. Few months later, we booked a trial class and met Ms. Monique. She's one of the reasons we signed up right away. My daughter fell in love even more with ballet because of her and always looking forward to be in her class. She even offered my daughter to fit the recital dress and we signed up for Bravo Bash shortly after.. Looking forward to Bravo Bash! We just love everything about Tutu School, no wonder my daughter couldn't stop talking about it!

Very accommodating and the best Ballet School we have been for my toddler. Very friendly, from the owner to the teachers. My daughter comes here for months now- and she always enjoys her time and always excited. Her class activities are very appropriate for her age and I really appreciate how she interacts. Ms. Sierra is great and very approachable. We came here for my toddler's socialization and its serving its purpose and more. Its fun.

My four year old daughter loves Miss Sarah. We've been in her class for a couple of years and now my daughter is in the 4-5 year old class. She's amazing with kids, keeps them smiling and entertained plus learning ballet. Totally recommend Tutu, especially if you can grab a spot in one of Miss Sarah's classes.

My 3 year old daughter started about a month ago and she loves going here. Miss Sierra is awesome and their program as well. They incorporate numbers, colors, animals, story time, coloring and a lot more on top of learning basic ballet. I would recommend any child to go here. Book your trial class now Thank you for the music! Thank you for the dancing! & Thank you for the magic

We absolutely LOVE the Tutu School Walnut Creek! While our first class was quite rocky (my daughter was WILD), under Miss Sierra's gentle guidance we returned. My daughter is now in her 2nd year and looks forward to seeing Miss Khalia each week : )

Another day in the magic at our favorite place! Can't suggest this enough as a confidence booster for you little!

She loved her Tutu Teachers and how nice they were with her for her first time.

Wonderful teachers and studio. Family oriented and kid friendly. The teachers there are very kind and patient with your child, my daughter is only 2 years old and loved the classes and looks forward to going and being a ballerina. Would recommend to everyone that has kids that loves or wants to dance.

I have been dreaming of our daughter trying ballet classes at the Tutu School since before she was born...I used to do ballet growing up and they seemed like such a fun place to take ballet lessons. We decided to have our daughter do a free trial lesson since she had been asking us for a while to take formal lessons. From the moment we walked in the door, we felt so welcomed and I noticed my daughter was immediately comfortable there and excited to get started with the lesson. I can tell from my former ballet training that they definitely know their technique, and they present it in such a beautiful, imaginative way that really captures the attention of the children. The teacher that taught my daughter's first class- Miss Sophia was so awesome! She was wonderful with all the kids. After class, my daughter was so excited to come back again, so we decided to sign her up. I'm so happy that she is continuing in my footsteps and learning such a beautiful art form at such a wonderful place. I'm so excited to see how she will blossom here. I highly recommend the Tutu School for any children interested in exploring ballet.

The cutest ballet class ever! It's so beautiful inside, and Sierra was such an amazing teacher! I came to watch my niece & it was the sweetest thing ever. Great learning & educational for the kids. Loved it!

There's plenty of parking, and the studio is on the smaller side, but nice (there's two dance rooms--one larger one and one smaller one). Since the Kpop class was so popular, there were a lot of people, but we were in the smaller room, since it sounded like there was another group training for some sort of performance. Once they left, we switched over to the larger room. Isabel teaches the Kpop classes and she was so friendly and encouraging. She was patient and great at breaking down the dance moves, while moving the class at an appropriate pace. It is a 1.5 hour class, so we finished all the moves with 15 minutes to break into dance groups (not exactly my favorite part, because my brain can't usually learn all the moves in the same class). Of note, they do record the group dances, but you can probably sit out if you want (I just stick around because of peer pressure and low key want to remember how I looked from when I started until mastering the dance). It's also nice that she will be kinda doing the dance on the side to guide you. There's no level listed on the class, so I'm assuming it's all levels. Based on being at other dance studios, I think 2.0 was more of an intermediate level class, but it was very doable! Overall, I really enjoyed my class with Isabel!

I've been to other dance classes where the instructor wasn't as intentional and had more of a serious and closed off, "get all the moves right" energy, which can be off putting when you're just joining a casual dance class, so this was refreshing! The class was Heels & Grooves and I would say it's beginner friendly! We started with stretching, then practicing walking, then learned the choreo. It was a fun class! Lots of parking available in the plaza. The space was open, bright, and clean. My GPS told me to go to the left when really they were located on the other side. It seems like they have a diverse range of class offerings. I'll def be coming back!

I have spent a long time debating whether to write this review because Starlight was once a place…read moremy child genuinely loved. Unfortunately, many of the issues that ultimately led us to leave were not isolated incidents, they were patterns that existed for years and appeared to worsen as the owner took on more stress. Constructive criticism is not an attack. Honest feedback is not disloyalty. The common denominator throughout the concerns many families raised was leadership. Communication problems were present long before the recent turmoil, but they became significantly more noticeable as the program grew. Important information was often delayed, incomplete, changed without explanation, or communicated differently to different groups of people. Parents frequently found themselves piecing together information from rumors, social media, group texts, and other families rather than receiving clear and consistent communication directly from leadership. The situation surrounding the temporary location (without heat/AC and wall) and construction delays was particularly frustrating. Families were repeatedly given timelines and explanations that changed over time, creating confusion and eroding trust. We were told at one point that construction was halted due to human remains being found, this was false. As a parent of a neurodivergent child, I was also disappointed by decisions that appeared to overlook the needs of many students in the program. Despite the owner stating that Starlight is "inclusive and welcoming to all". The owner even going as far as stating "LGBTQ and neurodivergent kids are my specialty". One example was the creation of a teen group chat used for communication while excluding parents from those conversations. Most of the students involved were freshman, many of whom are neurodivergent and rely on adult support to manage schedules, stay organized, and process information. Removing parents from those communications created unnecessary barriers and left families struggling to ensure their children had accurate information. I was further troubled by comments made about students and families. Hearing a neurodivergent child who was struggling emotionally described as "throwing a hissy fit" demonstrated a lack of understanding and compassion that I would expect from a youth program serving diverse learners. I watched as students were guilted into taking on more responsibilities/roles than they wanted despite their feelings being clearly communicated. Likewise, hearing concerned parents characterized as "entitled" was disheartening. Parents were not asking for special treatment, they were asking for transparency, consistency, and accountability after investing significant time, money, and trust into the organization. The saddest part is that the students were often caught in the middle of adult decisions and conflicts. The children showed up to learn, perform, build friendships, and pursue something they loved. They deserved stability, professionalism, and leadership that modeled healthy communication and accountability. The students deserve nothing less. One of the most frustrating aspects of this experience is that many of the concerns raised by families over the years have never seemed to be genuinely acknowledged. Instead, there appears to be a pattern where criticism is immediately dismissed, explained away, or attributed to misunderstandings rather than treated as an opportunity for reflection and growth. Even when families take the time to leave thoughtful feedback or reviews, the response often seems focused on defending decisions, challenging the person's account, or explaining why their experience wasn't valid rather than recognizing that multiple families may be raising similar concerns. When every concern is attributed to a misunderstanding, a disgruntled parent, or someone who simply doesn't know the full story, it becomes difficult to believe that meaningful accountability is taking place. At some point, when the same themes continue to emerge from multiple families over multiple years communication issues, lack of transparency, shifting narratives, exclusion of parents, and dismissive responses to concerns. It is worth considering whether those concerns deserve genuine reflection rather than another explanation for why they aren't true. Again, constructive criticism is not an attack. Honest feedback is not disloyalty. Families who speak up are often doing so because they care deeply about the students and want the organization to succeed. Unfortunately, too often it felt like those voices were viewed as a threat rather than an opportunity to improve.
