We love Tutu school! We tried a couple other dance studios and this was the best fit by far. The teachers are wonderful, so knowledgeable and patient (special shoutout to my daughter's favorite, Ms Makenzie!) We enjoy the fun, creative format while also learning REAL ballet and introducing classical ballet stories each week. the studio is beautiful and full of natural light, the classes have a super engaging structure, the recital was so fun and well run, and they offer a new diverse, socially conscious theme each month complete with a book that ties in!

Ms. Monique is amazing and my daughter fell in love with ballet even more because of her..

Since we moved here from Chicago my daughter has been asking me to check out ballet schools. Few months later, we booked a trial class and met Ms. Monique. She's one of the reasons we signed up right away. My daughter fell in love even more with ballet because of her and always looking forward to be in her class. She even offered my daughter to fit the recital dress and we signed up for Bravo Bash shortly after.. Looking forward to Bravo Bash! We just love everything about Tutu School, no wonder my daughter couldn't stop talking about it!

Very accommodating and the best Ballet School we have been for my toddler. Very friendly, from the owner to the teachers. My daughter comes here for months now- and she always enjoys her time and always excited. Her class activities are very appropriate for her age and I really appreciate how she interacts. Ms. Sierra is great and very approachable. We came here for my toddler's socialization and its serving its purpose and more. Its fun.

My four year old daughter loves Miss Sarah. We've been in her class for a couple of years and now my daughter is in the 4-5 year old class. She's amazing with kids, keeps them smiling and entertained plus learning ballet. Totally recommend Tutu, especially if you can grab a spot in one of Miss Sarah's classes.

She loved her Tutu Teachers and how nice they were with her for her first time.

Wonderful teachers and studio. Family oriented and kid friendly. The teachers there are very kind and patient with your child, my daughter is only 2 years old and loved the classes and looks forward to going and being a ballerina. Would recommend to everyone that has kids that loves or wants to dance.

We absolutely LOVE the Tutu School Walnut Creek! While our first class was quite rocky (my daughter was WILD), under Miss Sierra's gentle guidance we returned. My daughter is now in her 2nd year and looks forward to seeing Miss Khalia each week : )

My 3 year old daughter started about a month ago and she loves going here. Miss Sierra is awesome and their program as well. They incorporate numbers, colors, animals, story time, coloring and a lot more on top of learning basic ballet. I would recommend any child to go here. Book your trial class now Thank you for the music! Thank you for the dancing! & Thank you for the magic

I have been dreaming of our daughter trying ballet classes at the Tutu School since before she was born...I used to do ballet growing up and they seemed like such a fun place to take ballet lessons. We decided to have our daughter do a free trial lesson since she had been asking us for a while to take formal lessons. From the moment we walked in the door, we felt so welcomed and I noticed my daughter was immediately comfortable there and excited to get started with the lesson. I can tell from my former ballet training that they definitely know their technique, and they present it in such a beautiful, imaginative way that really captures the attention of the children. The teacher that taught my daughter's first class- Miss Sophia was so awesome! She was wonderful with all the kids. After class, my daughter was so excited to come back again, so we decided to sign her up. I'm so happy that she is continuing in my footsteps and learning such a beautiful art form at such a wonderful place. I'm so excited to see how she will blossom here. I highly recommend the Tutu School for any children interested in exploring ballet.

My daughter, Daphne, has been attending Tutu School since she could walk, and she loves it so much! She had been watching her brother and waiting for the day that she too would be able to dance! We love all of our teachers that we have had, and also love the special tutus! The classes are very developmentally appropriate and never stay on one activity too long, so they grasp a toddlers attention, and avoid meltdowns. We 100% recommend.

Because of this, we will not be coming back, and my daughter has decided to drop out. The program now uses a new "audition without auditioning" model. But from a child's point of view, this was not clearly explained at all. My daughter thought she was coming to her first class to get to know the teacher and other kids, not hidden audition that would decide casting. It was also her first class, which is already stressful for a child, especially who needs a bit of time to get familiar with new situation. After I raised my concerns with the management, they told me that this was my fault because I was "notified" by email about their new system. But notified of what, exactly? A 10-year-old does not read emails. My daughter was never told directly that she was being auditioned for casting. When she later found out that those activities were actually her audition, she was very upset! This was not about the role she got. She has auditioned before and understands disappointment. What hurt her was feeling unprepared and misled and cheated. It felt like sending a child to their first day of school and then telling them afterward that they just took an important test that will decide their grade for the whole semester. That kind of surprise is unfair and very stressful for a child. We are not comfortable continuing in a program where expectations are not explained directly to the children and are instead pushed onto parents to manage. Our money and time was wasted, and even a partial refund was DENIED. I am glad that I got to enrol my child at great Berkeley Playhouse for the spring and her schedule is not completely waisted.

After a pause during COVID, she returned to participate in a couple of shows with the Kids program, then successfully auditioned for the Junior Competitive theater program in 4th grade. Now entering 7th grade, the growth we've seen in her has been nothing short of remarkable. Her singing, acting, and dancing have all improved exponentially--but even more importantly, the program has helped transform her natural confidence into real poise and presence. She's also built lasting friendships along the way. As part of the competitive theater program, she not only performs with a team but has also chosen to do solo competitions, which have helped her grow as an individual artist. These experiences have pushed her in the best way and have taught her discipline, collaboration, and how to shine on stage. I'm so grateful for the leadership of Chelsea and the entire team. The amount of care and effort they pour into the students and the productions is truly impressive. From "SpongeBob the Musical" to "Alice in Wonderland," the quality of these youth performances is extraordinary--complete with fantastic costumes, imaginative sets, and professional-caliber direction. The instructors are passionate, talented, and committed, and it's inspiring to see former students--many of whom have gone on to study theater in college--return to help with current productions. If she ever tires of theater, they have a solid dance program that offers competition opportunities as well! I'm so glad my daughter has the opportunity to grow within such a creative, supportive, and high-quality program for years to come.

At Dance Connection Performing Arts Center in Concord, our 3.5 yo daughter was escorted a number of times out of her intro to ballet and tap class for 2.5 to 4 yo for "not listening." So we ditched that studio and tried this one! (But we did try a kinder teacher at DCPAC before leaving.) The Creative Dance class (single drop-in for $25, 10-class pack for $185) at The Ballet School is perfect for her, especially since she has a slow-to-warm-up temperament and is sensitive to loud sounds (ie. music, flushing toilets, leaf blowers, etc.). The value for these drop-in creative dance classes is excellent because we are willing to pay a few dollars more for our little one to have a positive experience with dance. Drop-in means that they are understanding that some days the littles aren't having a good enough day to join class and/or sick. (Btw, $45 one-time registration fee) Regarding the rest of the school, I can tell that there is a huge selection of classes including music. As a music teacher working at a music academy, I can't access the quality. However, I know there is a department near the entrance way. If you haven't tried this school, just know it supports Healthy Dance, and are a part of Dance Awareness: No Child Exploited. This was a huge factor of why we chose this school for our daughter.

We live in an age where many expect Elementary School students to were glitter and makeup, then dress up in costumes. The Ballet School does not go down that road. Instead, it teaches young ladies (and gentlemen) to respect themselves and each other with any performance only coming from that confidence. Just as an example, the younger performers do never "perform" in a "show." Instead, TBS has a yearly "demonstration," which is literally just that...the students wear the regular baller uniform and demonstrate what happens in class every day. I have always thought that that is an incredibly healthy approach . Suffice to say, I strongly suggest that parents check out this school when looking into a school for performing arts.

There's zero accountability in apologizing and then saying something to the effect of, "what a rough year it was and our side of the story..." I know the story. I saw and heard kids get crushed. I can't rewrite history, but I wish I had said things in the moment rather than play nice and just listen. Many of us do this all to often (stay quiet). Speak up when we hear something not right. I wish I had. There was no rhyme or reason to the way they placed kids in different levels. For multiple reasons, one of my kids who loved danced and was only encouraged and pushed at the previous studio, was knocked down repeatedly. By the time we left, the confidence they had once had in dance was gone. With ACE not allowing child 3 to be challenged, their technique suffered. I saw their skills slowly decline until I pulled them from ACE and put them in a studio that once again believed in my kid. My youngest kid, whom I thought was in dance just for fun, left the studio and holy bananas. I had no idea my kid was capable of doing the stuff that kid did. Technique improved exponentially within months of leaving ACE. My youngest thankfully was never crushed by their words or glares. But they did feel proud of their accomplishments after leaving, often saying, "I'd never be able to do that at ACE!" I pulled my kids 2.5 years ago but seeing as they lost a ton more kids this year, I'm guessing they haven't changed. They've lost countless "ensemble" - their version of team members over the past few years. Their pay structure for ensemble is a joke. If you're considering this studio for a team, compare it to others (and other pay structures). That's it for now. I may revise it, but it won't be for the better.

What we experienced was the opposite. During the 4:30pm "Intro to Dance" class on 1/30/26, our child was separated from the group for ~ 15 minutes after a minor balance-related accident during a circle activity. From direct observation through the classroom window, she appeared shocked and not crying at first, but her distress began only after being pulled aside and instructed to sit alone. She remained isolated for the rest of the session, including routine end-of-class activities. When we attempted to discuss the situation afterward, the teacher characterized the incident as "intentional" without providing any factual explanation. Later written communication from studio owner denied that any isolation or disciplinary action had occurred, and also denied that the teacher had described the incident as "intentional." which directly conflicted with what we personally witnessed. We understand that toddlers lose balance and accidents happen. What is concerning is not the accident itself, but the lack of transparency, inconsistent accounts, and absence of clear behavioral management standards for very young children. We withdrew immediately. If you are looking for an environment that treats young children with dignity and values honest communication with parents, I suggest looking elsewhere.

Many parents, including my own have had issues with Camille who constantly belittles others and doesn't treat you with respect. Her family never got a refund and this choice put pressure on the teachers to re-block all her dances right before the biggest competition of the season. That's just an example of what they've done to their dancers. The moment I joined DCPAC, my mental health immediately declined. If you want a nurturing, supportive dance environment that wants you to succeed, DCPAC is not the place for you.

This is our daughter's second year at Dreamspace Dance and Performing Arts. I can't say enough good…read morethings about the experience our daughter has had, especially being part of the competition team. The growth we've seen in her, both as a dancer and as a person, has been absolutely incredible. The staff at Dreamspace is truly wonderful. They're welcoming, always smiling, and you can tell they genuinely care about each and every dancer. They are not only kind and supportive, but they push the dancers in all the right ways to help them reach their potential. On top of that, the spring and winter shows are absolutely amazing. You can see how much thought, creativity, and heart go into every detail- from the choreography and music to the costumes and overall production. My family and I always look forward to seeing what they'll come up with next, and we're blown away every single time. We've found more than just a dance studio. We've found a community that inspires, challenges, and truly cares. Watching our daughter's confidence grow, her technique improve, and her passion for dance deepen has been such a gift. We're so thankful to be part of this amazing dance family! Thank you Dreamspace!!

Really disappointed with Dreamspace. It started really great, I wish my daughters were actually…read morelearning choreography but I get its a class of 3-5 y/o. I paid a deposit for one of my daughters to do summer camp and we were then unenrolled because I missed a payment even though I asked for it to be pushed. I just said forget it enrolled her in gymnastics and opted of the text notifications and left it alone. I then get an email stating I owe $275 for Summer camp. I called the studio only to find out my number was blocked ( my husband called and got threw and they actually never called him back). When I emailed the studio I was told my call probably didn't come through because I opted out of text notifications. Which has nothing to do with being to able to call the studio as far as I am concerned because my husband isn't opted in to receive texts and got through. I requested a refund for the deposit from summer camp, and for them to remove my daughter. They first denied my refund despite it not being stated anywhere that 1. You have to pay a deposit for summer camp and 2. it is non refundable. Now they have been ignoring my emails. I now just plan to take all the information I have gathered and dispute the charge with my bank. I hate I even have to post a review like this because as I stated my beginning experiences were pleasant and they started off very accommodating but this has left a really bad impression, and I hope they don't do this to anyone else.

An intense, exciting time! They won an award for choreography at JTF West! She also did Triple Threat and High school Musical this summer. So to say the least, We Are FANs! We feel so lucky to have Chelsea teaching our daughter! A lovely personality and mentor, a highly skilled dancer and choreographer, a patient and kind Director. The Music Director Kevin warmly and patiently builds the student's musical understanding and performances. His contribution keeps musical standards high and performances enjoyable. The Business Director/Producer Rachel adds the no nonsense behind the scenes taking care of business ballast for all this creativity. We are grateful for her expertise to keep SingOut thriving. My daughter is attending a performing arts school in the fall. We will still be attending Tue/Thurs Musical Theater at SingOut. It is top notch and she loves it!

Originally named DLOC in 1959 when they formed a company performing Gilbert & Sullivan Light Operas. Eventually they changed the name to Diablo Theater Co. They had a youth program called STARS 2000, which continues to this day to operate. Diablo Theater Co. that use to produce large scale Musicals & Light Opera productions at the Lesher Center For The Arts in Walnut Creek, is no longer in business. STARS 2000 continues as their own company. There is no other youth program that is under the auspices of the Diablo Theater Co. and in fact their studios were sold and are under the ownership of Performing Arts Academy.
