The growth we've seen in her, both as a dancer and as a person, has been absolutely incredible. The staff at Dreamspace is truly wonderful. They're welcoming, always smiling, and you can tell they genuinely care about each and every dancer. They are not only kind and supportive, but they push the dancers in all the right ways to help them reach their potential. On top of that, the spring and winter shows are absolutely amazing. You can see how much thought, creativity, and heart go into every detail- from the choreography and music to the costumes and overall production. My family and I always look forward to seeing what they'll come up with next, and we're blown away every single time. We've found more than just a dance studio. We've found a community that inspires, challenges, and truly cares. Watching our daughter's confidence grow, her technique improve, and her passion for dance deepen has been such a gift. We're so thankful to be part of this amazing dance family! Thank you Dreamspace!!

I called the studio only to find out my number was blocked ( my husband called and got threw and they actually never called him back). When I emailed the studio I was told my call probably didn't come through because I opted out of text notifications. Which has nothing to do with being to able to call the studio as far as I am concerned because my husband isn't opted in to receive texts and got through. I requested a refund for the deposit from summer camp, and for them to remove my daughter. They first denied my refund despite it not being stated anywhere that 1. You have to pay a deposit for summer camp and 2. it is non refundable. Now they have been ignoring my emails. I now just plan to take all the information I have gathered and dispute the charge with my bank. I hate I even have to post a review like this because as I stated my beginning experiences were pleasant and they started off very accommodating but this has left a really bad impression, and I hope they don't do this to anyone else.

I understand being friendly to your…read morecustomers but the instructors were so over-the-top that it felt completely fake and smarmy, from how they say hi to you to how they sell you a packet of $550 introductory dance lessons -- 4 45 min "lessons" that only cover the bare minimum where they refuse to correct your dance moves (big red flag if you want to learn dance) and they five high you every 5 minutes like you're a toddler or otherwise just retarded... Amongst the intro packet was the 2 group lessons coupled with 2 more subsequent "party" dance sessions where all the students dance w each other but the way it was being lead, it felt more like a cheerleading/glee club. Please actuallt teach us some moves! Im not here to be part of a cheering squad and to be everybody's bff! Josh, a dancer who doubles as their sales guy, was goading me into buying more group packets for an unbelievable amount of money after completing the bare minimum in the equally expensive introductory dance packet -- talking to you as though you affirmed to him that you wanna buy super expensive packets for when I never even implied that! Before then, when I asked about paying for individual lessons...well, I'm going to quote the last reviewer who said it best here when she expressed uncertainty : "he acted all offended and said, 'when someone doesn't want to buy it means that they didn't understand what I was explaining.'" Basically same thing here but also refusing to answer the question in my case. Finally, when I asked for references to other dance studios that dedicate more time to individualized dance lessons (like if you wanna focus on just tango as opposed to all of the ballroom dances), he went on about how "Well, Arthur Murray does it as well! You like our dance studio though, RIGHT, Tiffs?" Yeah I know, that's why I asked -- if you weren't trying so hard to sell yourself like I'm just another product, I wouldn't have asked. I found another class that is worth your buck and teaches you more in one lesson than 10 Arthur Murray lessons combined. In fact, my other peers were also there precisely because of their experience with Arthur Murray as well. And, due to the last reviewer actually affirming my previous experience, I think I'm on point. Do not buy Arthur Murray classes! They are a scam!! Worst dance studio I've ever been in, and I've gone through several myself! Edit: Yelp removed my last review from Arthur Murray, but I didn't break any review rules; I did not slander anyone personally, reinforce stereotypes, or threaten with violence. Part of me suspects that this removal was at the behest of Arthur Murray dance company so that they do not look bad in other people's eyes. Well, I'm back! And I'm not going to stop telling the truth about this company to let honest people decide for themselves if they want to go through the same horrible experience with this dance studio as I did!

I left a message at Dance Conn and was called back and given the time and consulting that I needed to find the right class for my daughter. The clincher was that they allowed drop in make-ups which makes life so much easier and the cost so much less painful to swallow when you have to miss a class. We ended up in Miss Andrea's combo class and I have to say WOW! The difference in instruction level, what they are learning and the structure is night and day! My husband brought my daughter for her first class and even he was impressed and said that is money well spent (for him to say this is the highest praise you could possibly receive). Miss Andrea is VERY clear in her instruction, keeps them on task and keeps them constantly engaged which is astounding. There is no waiting around for anything. My daughter is learning SO MUCH MORE and has been talking about the importance of stretching etc. Thank you!

In addition, this review doesn't apply to the teachers, they aren't treated fairly either but are incredible and have truly made me a better dancer. The studio owner Kaylee and her right hand woman Camille hold all the power at the studio. Many parents, including my own have had issues with Camille who constantly belittles others and doesn't treat you with respect. (which is embarrassing considering she is the front desk woman whose main job is customer service) They hold the "average" students to such high standards which don't apply to their favorites. If you aren't already a phenomenal dancer, this studio will not pay attention to you or give you the training you paid an insane amount of money to get. They will purposefully hold you back so that you don't get in the way of the favorites. Last year, a month out from nationals, a student got injured and instead of letting her leg heal for 3 more days, Kaylee kicked her off the team. Her family never got a refund and this choice put pressure on the teachers to re-block all her dances right before the biggest competition of the season. That's just an example of what they've done to their dancers. The moment I joined DCPAC, my mental health immediately declined. If you want a nurturing, supportive dance environment that wants you to succeed, DCPAC is not the place for you.

Because of this, we will not be coming back, and my daughter has decided to drop out. The program now uses a new "audition without auditioning" model. But from a child's point of view, this was not clearly explained at all. My daughter thought she was coming to her first class to get to know the teacher and other kids, not hidden audition that would decide casting. It was also her first class, which is already stressful for a child, especially who needs a bit of time to get familiar with new situation. After I raised my concerns with the management, they told me that this was my fault because I was "notified" by email about their new system. But notified of what, exactly? A 10-year-old does not read emails. My daughter was never told directly that she was being auditioned for casting. When she later found out that those activities were actually her audition, she was very upset! This was not about the role she got. She has auditioned before and understands disappointment. What hurt her was feeling unprepared and misled and cheated. It felt like sending a child to their first day of school and then telling them afterward that they just took an important test that will decide their grade for the whole semester. That kind of surprise is unfair and very stressful for a child. We are not comfortable continuing in a program where expectations are not explained directly to the children and are instead pushed onto parents to manage. Our money and time was wasted, and even a partial refund was DENIED. I am glad that I got to enrol my child at great Berkeley Playhouse for the spring and her schedule is not completely waisted.

After a pause during COVID, she returned to participate in a couple of shows with the Kids program, then successfully auditioned for the Junior Competitive theater program in 4th grade. Now entering 7th grade, the growth we've seen in her has been nothing short of remarkable. Her singing, acting, and dancing have all improved exponentially--but even more importantly, the program has helped transform her natural confidence into real poise and presence. She's also built lasting friendships along the way. As part of the competitive theater program, she not only performs with a team but has also chosen to do solo competitions, which have helped her grow as an individual artist. These experiences have pushed her in the best way and have taught her discipline, collaboration, and how to shine on stage. I'm so grateful for the leadership of Chelsea and the entire team. The amount of care and effort they pour into the students and the productions is truly impressive. From "SpongeBob the Musical" to "Alice in Wonderland," the quality of these youth performances is extraordinary--complete with fantastic costumes, imaginative sets, and professional-caliber direction. The instructors are passionate, talented, and committed, and it's inspiring to see former students--many of whom have gone on to study theater in college--return to help with current productions. If she ever tires of theater, they have a solid dance program that offers competition opportunities as well! I'm so glad my daughter has the opportunity to grow within such a creative, supportive, and high-quality program for years to come.
