My daughter started dancing here at age 3 and had since started dancing as part of the competition team for the last four years. She tends to be a shy, reserved girl but being apart of this dance studio has made her come out of her shell so much. DA Dance center is a big part of our life and family. Please do not take your children to this place. If you're not in their inner circle, you're not important, the owner and her daughter are very rude. They allow their dance moms that are in the inner circle yell and curse and scream at people and I'm sure they all got a pretty good laugh after it was all over about it her standing up and screaming at us to get out of her fucking seats right now! And that wasn't the first time after I had had surgery, I went to my granddaughter's first performance at their school, and had gotten permission to sit down, I chose a seat in the back to be away from everybody and her little clique of people came running up to my seat and told me I couldn't sit there that I had to get out after I had already been told that I could sit there, and they didn't just tell me one time they stood over me as if they were going to make sure that I did their bidding. which I didn't. Move me. And now my granddaughter who has been dancing since she was 18 months old has decided that dance teachers are mean and she doesn't want to dance anymore. She's lost her love for it things to these people. So be very mindful of who you choose to mentor or teach your children anything because these people have broken my granddaughters spirit. Yesterday was her last recital ever in life because she feels like she's been bullied. She doesn't feel like anybody in the dance community cares about her in the least and she doesn't want to dance anymore. Thank you DAnn. thank you Shawna. I hope you're laughing because you're sure you're not dancing and you're sure not inspiring other people's kids to dance and less they are part of your petty little Bs clique. The fact that you didn't call that mom down when she interrupted your recital by screaming profanities just shows what kind of people you are. I hope you're happy. I signed my daughter up for a trial class. Although I had a few issues with the studio (thought the front desk clerk was very short with me when I asked a few questions about shoes and attire, the floor was very dirty, and throughout the time I was there, there were other girls doing cartwheels and talking loudly in the hallway, which was distracting to the classes in session), my daughter loved the class, so I signed her up that evening (Monday). That Friday evening, I received an email saying that the class conflicted with one of their other classes and they were going to change it to Tuesday. Tuesday didn't work for our schedule so I called the next day to request a refund, which I was told I would receive. On Sunday, I received another email saying they decided not to change it to Tuesday, they were just going to move it to start a half hour later on Monday. By that time, I had already enrolled at another studio and called again and reiterated that I wanted a refund. The woman was very short with me and made me feel as though I was in the wrong wanting to cancel enrollment. Although I ultimately received my money back, I felt the entire situation was very unprofessional and I expect a reputable dance studio to be able to create a class schedule without moving the classes around 3 times! read more

Danns has always been a place my daughter has been accepted and taught. Chelsea is an amazing teacher for little ones and as I have watched the older dancers grow up they are really a big family and the take good care of the kids. I think the negative review on here probably wanted something closer to a YMCA class that's cheap and basic. They do a great job and let the kids have fun. Owner is there regularly and will answer whatever questions you want. If they join competition it can get expensive but I think it's worth it. read more

My daughter has been dancing here for over 10 yrs. We love dancing here. The studio has created a 2nd home for us. We love that this studio also offers classes for special needs kids that we love performing with at our shows. Shawna and crew have big hearts and talented instructors. Our recitals are fun and fabulous. Having a visual learner in school, dance has totally helped my daughter to succeed in school also. Is dance a cheap sport? No. There's costumes, lessons, competitions, hotels, travel expenses, etc. (No matter which studio you are at.) But... the feeling of watching your child perform with confidence on stage in a solo or with their team is breathtaking and amazingly exciting and fun. A few of my favorites: the studio performing at the Concord Tree Lighting, our girls LEADING the Disney parade down Main Street! Our studio holiday pot luck party. Best thing I ever did was sign up! We live DA dance center. We have been with this studio for the past 4.5 years when my oldest started recreational classes here. She quickly fell in love with dance, her teachers and the friends she made along the way. Her 2 younger sisters followed. The June show with all the competitive dancers and recreational students inspired her to strive for more and start dancing competitively. The studio is family owned and operated with other great teachers that danced at the studio themselves as children. I can't say enough about Shawna and the studio. We are very happy here. read more

I read the other reviews, including the negative ones. I can assure you that this is from a current active parent at D'Ann's, not staff, so if you wish to contact me, please do. Is the studio the most freshly painted and recently renovated? No. It could use some cosmetic work, perhaps. However, I will tell you that the staff have been nothing but extremely welcoming, professional, and go far above and beyond to help my daughter in many ways, both in dance and letting her do homework at the studio, even offering to help find transporation as I am a working parent. Yes, they do want you to sign up and commit to regular payment, but for a fee, you can take unlimited classes and D'Ann's has become a second home for my child. You get what you put in to anything, and if you want a great dance studio where your child can grow that treats you like family, D'Ann's is the place to go! read more

Sign my daughter up for classes there every Saturday. Not too happy with the services my daughter had a substitute teacher which didn't know the routine at all and winged it for day. The place is always cold inside I have to bundle up my kid to take her to dance class. Not only do we pay $70 a month for one class a week, when it came to the recital we had to pay an extra $140 for the costume and it came with one ticket to the show. What about the households that have two parents? For $70 a month and the extra $140 for the "costume" I feel that you should be able to take some of that money that they get per child, and clean up your facility. read more

The most professional dance studio in the East Bay! The prices are affordable, especially for the quality of instruction. I have been a dancer on and off with this studio for the better part of 29 years. They are truly more of a family than anything else. I have made life long friends that I consider family and learned invaluable life lessons all while learning how to dance tap, ballet, jazz, etc. They always have a knowledgeable staff on hand to answer any questions. They put on professional quality recitals twice a year to showcase what the students have been learning in their classes. If you're looking to enroll your child or yourself and enjoy a comfortable, family feeling and inviting setting then this is the studio for you! Great for families and those who have a "serious" love for dance. My 4 year old started taking the "Angelina Ballerina Class last Summer. This is a great dance program that gives a good foundation, while still appealing to the youngest dancers out there. We are taking a Combo class in addition to the ballet, and my older boys are asking to sign up after the new year. I've even started taking a class myself. read more

Took my 10 y/o niece 3 times to take a hip hop class for kids...came to the point today where I had to sign her up for $60 per month for her to continue because drop-ins aren't allowed "forever" per D'Ann. She laughs at me and says "yeah" and turns to another woman and says if I don't do drop-ins for others, I can't do it for you. Wow how unprofessional was that. If you need to inform me of your policies, that's fine but to laugh and be unprofessional was so uncalled for. I decided to not have my niece join given my schedule doesn't allow me to take my niece every Saturday. Too bad they're not flexible like Fearless Fitness in Foster City where I drop in sporadically. They actually allow me to just drop in and take classes that fit my schedule. D'Ann's loss not mine. My niece just wanted to take dance classes and have fun. But $60 per month not worth it if I can only take her 4 times max per month and sometimes less given I live on the peninsula. The studio loses out on my extra drop-in money but if it's their policy so be it. I've also seen their prior performances. No sugar-coating but mediocre at best. I'll take my niece elsewhere to dance where there's more flexibility and their performances are more on-point and much cleaner. read more

D'ann's academy of dance is the place you don't want to take your children to. Starting from the very top "D'ann"...the unprofessional-ism spreads through like a bad virus, quickly moving down through the last uneducated so called dance "instructors". The studio is poorly kept, the bathroom smells of decomposition. The disorganization and lack of communication creates insanity in what otherwise should be a beautiful experience for you and your child. Any positive reviews posted here are surely done by the staff as an attempt to counter balance any negatives. Want to take your kids to a dance academy? Don't bring them here!!!!!!!!! read more

My daughter has been dancing at D'Ann's for almost two years. She started with one hip hop class and is now dancing competitively and enjoys several styles of dance. The studio accommodates all levels and ages of dancers. Either recreationally or competitive dancing there is definitely something you can appreciate. I love this studio because everyone is very helpful and caring. The teachers are very good at what they do and the choreography is always very very fun and entertaining. My daughter always loves to go to dance and we are very excited about the upcoming dance season. I feel truly blessed to have found such a great studio and would highly recommend D'Ann's to all ages and levels of dancers. I have loved watching all of the dancer's progress over the last few years. (They also started doing an Angelina Ballerina classes for lil one's and it is so precious to see all the lil tutu's and ballet shoes.) read more
