The director, Cynthia, breeds a toxic culture. The environment is not good for young growing girls that already, inadvertently, have self esteem issues as they are young, developing and still trying to figure themselves out. She plays favorites and will quickly boot girls from the comp team if you try and express anything you find negative. Advise is to pass on this toxic place. read more

My daughter is 9 years old and has been taking classes here for 3 years. This is such a positive enthusiastic place for girls and boys to learn dance. They are also welcome to people with different needs. Ms Alex is the best (although my daughter hasn't taken too many classes from other teachers!). Love In Motion! For the past several years, my daughter has danced at IMDC. Cynthia and her team provide a nurturing environment for all levels of dance. They offer a variety of classes for all ages, there is something for everyone! My daughter has explored many genres of dance and receive advanced training as she has gotten older. We have been very happy with the growth she has shown as a dancer. Cynthia took over the studio several years ago, and as a parent, I have been pleased with the elevated levels of training my daughter has experienced. Outside of the regular class schedule, Cynthia also offers various master classes and chances for the comp team to work with guest choreographers. I wanted to leave a review as a former father's dancer, since everyone who has left a review are mainly women. This is no doubt a good studio to learn how to dance for children. All the teachers are absolutely wonderful. My only and biggest complaint is that EVERY year, the dance recital and rehearsal is on Father's Day, and/or Father's Day weekend. They could choose the weekend before or after, but no, let's make it on dad's day for 4 hours every year. As a father you want to see your child dance, but not on your one day. So if you ladies want to send your kids to good dance studio, better tell your husband that he won't get a Father's Day while at In-motion. read more

My baby loved her ballet class. She's turning 3 soon, I remembered her first day she cried for almost like 30 mins but now we can even leave her there for 2 hours. She enjoyed princess camp so much and she loved doing crafts as well. They had this mini performance at the end of the week unfortunately, we didn't get to see her dance she got stranger anxiety and she saw alot of people watching so she ended up just watching her friends. (Hopefully she gets used to other people soon ) read more

Just finishing up year three for my daughter (8), and it has all been a wonderful experience. Deena and David are amazing- organized and patient (with parents and kids- lol). I most appreciated that they kept the outfits appropriate and classy. They never put young girls in hooker gear like many of the other studio's we saw at other competitions. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I wish I could leave negative stars here. The receptionist was rude when I called to schedule a tour of the studio. I had mentioned that I saw In Motion and another local dance studio's performances at the Martinez 4th of July Parade and the lady I spoke with proceeded to bash the other dance studio. I found it very unprofessional and petty, especially since both studio's goals should be the impact they have on the lives of the children they teach, not who thinks what about who. In Motion seems drama filled and that's not the influence i want my children to have. read more

I have been dancing at InMotion since it has opened. This is one of the best studios I have ever been to. I have grown so much as not only a dancer, but as a person. The staff is so energetic, helpful, and inspiring. I have been given so many opportunities to preform beautiful classical pieces and award winning dances. In Motion is now owned by Cynthia Berning, but contains the same wonderful qualities. The teachers are good at getting the best out of their students and encouraging them along their dance journey. They have 4 studios and a REALLY good website, which is especially helpful when deciding on classes. Overall an amazing studio, no problems. Definitely recommend. read more

I posted this on Yahoo! Local back in 2006: This is by far the best dance experience my daughter has had. She has tried other studios only to want to quit after the first lesson or two. Deena is a wonderful teacher and takes a personal interest in each child. She is full of positive reinforcement. I am amazed at how far my daughter has come since September! She is tapping everywhere we go. Great place to send your kids for all types of dance, cheering, gymnastics, etc. A+++++++++ 2012: We are now nearing the time when we need to start thinking about college auditions and I know that Deena and her amazing staff will prepare my daughter to the fullest extent possible over the next 3 years and that she will do well in her college auditions. We "stopped by" In Motion four years ago hoping to fix my daughter's pigeon toes for gymnastics. Little did we know that we would all fall in love with the place!
