I started coming here about two years ago without any pole/aerial experience, and it is now my happy place. You will feel comfortable, strong, and beautiful. I'm surprised at how much I learned. The instructors make you feel safe and welcome. Some of them are world renowned. You DO need to sign up ahead of time - I'm glad it is set up this way for safety reasons. My guess is some people who "did not have a good experience" were not able to follow instructions. Whenever I have contacted the studio, they've been really good about answering any questions or helping with the sign up process. One star is plenty for this business. Started going to the classes on Saturdays with Groupon/ 5 pass and everything went ok for the most part other than constantly asking for pays over socks and little things that they could mention in the website to bring before classes. $35 for socks/ winter socks. I couldn't even wear them since too hot. Note that every class is a different scenario all the time. I ended up getting 10 class pass. Since then, there was barely any classes available to take for L1 and if I expressed concerns, I was sort of being harassed and dismissed by Jennifer/ owner. It's like, there are classes on random basis and if you miss it, you miss it. And you can only access the schedule 2 weeks at the time. And the new schedule is not posted until late second week. So you go figure! You can't plan your classes. I work every other weekend and can't be checking the schedule all the time. There is no planning or organized schedules in this business. All is in the air. Finally I texted Jennifer and asked how she suggests I take my passes for classes when there are nothing available?! Fair question you would think but she got aggressive and told me that my passes expired! The business is not a healthy model and I absolutely recommend you stay away from this place. read more

This is a hidden gem! I have wanted for SO long to take pole dancing classes, and now that I have lost 64 lbs I felt ready. There are women of all shapes and sizes there so I immediately felt comfortable. Jennifer, the instructor, was so nice and a GREAT dancer. It seems as if she has to move anytime she hears the beat of music. Definitely a natural. I had signed up for a two class series (for only $30!!!) and missed the first one. So Jennifer contacted me to see if I wanted to come in for a beginner class so I wouldn't be behind, and she didn't charge me extra for it. I was so grateful because my dollars are few right now with the summer upon me, and I REALLY wanted to start taking classes to get fit (and feel sexier in my new body). The class was relatively fast paced, but not rushed, and we learned a sexy little dance move/routine to practice at home.I definitely need some extra practice, but I'm having a great time! I had a really horrible experience here. After saving for the newbie package (which includes leg warmers, powder to grip the pole with, a set of heels, a bag and 5 classes) I bit the bullet and signed up for what was listed as a newbie class - climbs and holds. I figured this would mean learning how to grip and stabilize on the pole. Why not. I consider myself fit so I wanted to see if I could do this. I arrived 10 minutes early to the class because I wanted to be able to pick up my newbie gear. When I arrived there was one girl there, the trainer, and she greeted me and told me to warm up. I had no idea how to warm up, so I awkwardly started stretching. I asked her about the newbie package and instead she took a picture of me. I still don't know what that will be used for?! I asked specifically about the powder to grip the pole, because I could already tell my skin was about to get messed up trying to climb. She pointed to some buckets on the ground with cleaning fluid in them and dismissed me. I figured, whatever, I'll ask after class. I made a fool of myself but got through it, and felt like I was in way too deep and needed more time. Oh well, I thought, I'll do the one class called "beginner routine" and give that a go. As I was leaving, the instructor was doing the same awkward intake photo process with some other folks and I asked her again if I could get my newbie gear. She responded saying, "oh...you don't need them for this next class." Then, when I told her I was going to leave and not do the next class, she told me that she had to teach the next class and couldn't give me the gear. Mind you there are literally dozens of shoes in boxes and she could have just asked me my size and grabbed one and I would have been happy, but she LITERALLY REFUSED TO GIVE ME WHAT I PAID FOR. Now I'm upset. I signed up for a few more classes and didn't show up because honestly, I feel cheated, I felt awkward, and it was overall unpleasant. I emailed them a week ago asking for a partial refund, or to just send me the shoes I paid for to square us up, and they have not responded to me. This place RIPPED ME OFF. AVOID. read more

Jen is a terrible instructor. I took a class back when she owned Spin Sity in Oakley and she was one of the worst instructors I've ever encountered. At the time I was pretty into aerial silks and Pole. One class she was teaching me a new trick that was beyond my skill. I told her that I was uncomfortable and she kept pushing me to keep going. I ended up falling 4-5 feet on solid wood. I landed on my left hip. I wish I never took that class. It ended up being so bad that 2 years later I'm having serious issues with my hip. I hope she's gotten better as an instructor since then for her students. ***UPDATE*** The owner messaged me threatening to sue. I took a few classes with three of my girlfriends and we had a blast. The instructors, Jen and Marina, taught us some moves and even a short routine. It was a very comfortable atmosphere and a great workout. My body was aching afterwards from climbing and swinging on the poles. Definitely recommend taking a class. Parking was easy, but I'd recommend coming early so you can pick a pole with a smaller diameter. The larger ones are harder to use. read more

I was introduced to spin sity a year ago through a friends pole party. I've poled before so it was great to find a studio closer to home. I ended up doing two 6 month contacts. Love the pricing for the 6 month contacts. Really great instructors and a nice size studio. I love the height of the poles. I understand the concept behind spin sity but would still love to see more static classes. I also would like to see a stretching segment in the beginning of class that is longer than 5 min. All classes are only 30 min and that's barely time to warm up properly. You are invited to come in before class to stretch but it's just not the same. They offer silks from time to time. I really enjoyed that class. They also have a hoop dance class. It's really fun all of the different types of classes besides pole: twerk, hoop, silks, pole fit, yoga. Lots of options. read more

I just moved to the bay and found this studio, and I'm already obsessed. Sooo many fun, sexy classes offered -- way more variety than any other pole studio I've seen! So far I've taken the most classes with Marina, and oh my god: she is an absolute goddess (and my new spirit animal). She's not only a gorgeous dancer, but also SUCH a doll and an amazing teacher. So sweet and makes you feel so comfortable. Love, love, love her. I've also started taking some classes with Jennifer, and I am beyonddd obsessed with her too! Jennifer oozes sexiness, and her "Art of Seduction" class gives some very useful moves ;) She also just goes above and beyond with making sure the students know about the different upcoming classes/workshops, and suggesting which ones would be best for the individual. I took one class with Stephanie, who was sooo, so sweet (and of course also so talented), and she really gives individualized attention and makes sure everyone is learning the tricks they most want to learn, which is amazing! Last but not least, I've taken a "Twerkshop" with Mikayla, and that girl is the absolute Twerk Queen! She's a star and will have you cracking up the whole time. Too much fun, and I loved that I left her workshop having learned a whole routine (which I then taught my friends, who also loved it)! I cannot even put into words how happy and confident this studio has been making me already! Seriously life changing, and such amazing people to learn from. The most amazing time at this place. I was definitely intimidated to take classes because i imagined all of these students here would be hot 20 year olds with their bikini bodies. As i walked in, everyone was normal- i can't believe i waited this long to try a class. I'm not going to lie, after seeing j Lo at the super bowl i thought to myself if she can do it and she's 50 i can at least give it a shot. So far i have taken two classes one with Jennifer and the other with Robin. The first class was pole transitions and that was with Jennifer. I enjoyed this class much more than I even imagined. I have no dance background whatsoever and she broke down each movement which allowed me to achieve each move in that class. She was very funny and entertaining which I think helped break the ice in the beginning. The second class i took was Pole Fit and that was with robin. This girl was super fit, friendly and you could definitely tell she was a personal trainer. This was unlike the previous class which was dedicated to dancing and slower movement. Pole Fit gave me a complete body workout and i now have a greater appreciation for strippers. The studio was easy to get to, cute on the inside and with each class had a welcoming vibe. I came here recently to meet up with a friend who is an avid pole dancer. I had this place bookmarked for a while so the opportunity to come couldn't have been better. Plus, my girl had a free pass for me. I really didn't know what to expect of this place since the only other studio I've been to is Sedusa in WC. Don't be mad but I can't help comparing the 2. When I walked in, I was really shocked that the dance floor was right in front of me. Anyone can walk in and get a peek of what's going on. Plus, there is no front desk or a person to formally greet you when you walk in. This all makes it a lil awkward and confusing. I anxiously looked around for my friend or someone to make eye contact with a smile. My girl was upsidedown on a pole attending a different class so I just timidly walked over to where a few other girls were sitting and waited. Once my class (sensual pole) was about to start a nice girl came over and greeted me and gave further instruction. I had to rent a pair of heels for the class which was a whopping $10. That fee alone makes me want to invest in my own pair of hooker heels. Once the class started I felt more comfortable and relaxed (I always feel silly at first). The class was full and there is not that much room between poles so we had to be careful not to bump into one another. Eventually I got all into it, making good use of what my mama gave me. :p Overall the class was fun, the instructor/owner is great. I got a good workout, and the classes are fairly priced compared to Sedusa. Plus, the other patrons were down to earth and un-intimidating. Only 3 stars based on the small space and lack of privacy. I am in the market for different workouts other than spin class, zumba, running on the treadmil, etc. My friend suggested pole dancing... I'm game I say.... and this should be interesting... I mean it's not like I'm applying to the "Blue Iguana" or anything!! I tell my husband about this class, and he doesn't dispute it. In fact, he's intrigued. So much so that he went online to research portable poles to put in our bedroom. Slow down there tiger!!!! I looked up Spin Sity online and decided to take the "Over 30 and Flirty/ Over 40 and Feeling Fine" class. Yes, I am over 30. In fact, I am knocking on the door to 40. Where were these classes when I was in my prime???? Plus, I have had twins. Recently. As in the last 3 months...... I was so sure that there were going to be hot cougars in this class that I got all dolled up to blend in. I even brought (more like begged) my sister to come with me. The place is really cute, and girly. There is also a boutique with cute (and skimpy) pole clothes, and cute bikinis. Another pole class was finishing up before us so we got to see their moves. Well, it turns out that no one else showed up to our pole class (What? no cougars in Antioch???? I find that HARD to believe....) except for me and my sister, so we had the whole place to ourselves (with the instructor). Our instructor was super nice amd was patient with us. I wish I could do half the things she could do. We were taught a sexy number on the pole and had tons of fun trying. I also got a really good arm and leg work out. Thank God no one had a video camera going to post on UTube! LOL! It would be labeled as "woman trying to pole dance". Hee hee! She told us about all the other classes they offer such as a 5 class series from beginning to intermediate pole, classes called "sensous pole", and "Pole Fit" for those mammas" (BTW-this class offers child care for a small fee), lap dance class (either with an empty chair or with your sig other, or spouse). I absolutely love this studio! I came here on a whim after hearing about the place on facebook. I'd cancelled my gym membership months ago, and after getting acosted by cranky old ladies in Zumba class that don't speak English, I was ready for a new workout. Let me tell you ladies, nothing will get your tummy and bingo arms toned up quicker than pole classes! Michelle Obama ain't got nothin on these guns of mine! Anyway, this is a great way to get ready for swimsuit season, lose some weight after having a baby (they have childcare if you tell them in advance that you're bringing a little one along), or just put the sexy and fun back into your life. But that's not all, everyone there is regular gals so you don't have to be intimidated thinking you'll be the pudgy one among porn stars and playboy models. The classes stay small so you get enough personalized attention, and you get the chance to know everyone there really well too. I have made some great friends with fellow students and the instructors over the past few months. In addition to fitness, they offer lots of fun events and parties (including private ones you can book for bachelorettes, turning 50, etc.). I got a great work out, had a blast, and learned some cool tricks! so why the 1 star? I don't have a lot of money and after paying for a single class I signed up for a month long membership. Within that month, the classes I signed up for online, often started 5-10 minutes late, meaning that no one was there when I got there. As a teacher I am at my class 15-30 minutes before it starts so that I am never late and can greet my students. And to top it off after I signed up in advance 2 of the classes were canceled, the first time it was canceled I didn't even receive an email or call. The second time it was canceled I received an email and fb post 5 minutes before the class was supposed to start...a little too late as I was there already...and btw I brought a friend so now I looked like an ass. Don't get me wrong, pole fit and pole dancing is a great work out and it is SO much fun. Hopefully you will get a more responsible instructor as mine was a flake. I recommend you try it out and see what kind of experience you get. read more

These classes are so much fun! At first I was a little unsure if this was something I wanted to try but decided to go anyway with some girlfriends. I had a blast! I have now taken several different classes and have had a great experience every time. The instructors are extremely helpful, give personalized attention and structure the class to be a lot of fun. Im not athletic, don't have dance background or any experience with this. I always walk out thinking "wow" I really just did that. Oh and the pole always gives a good workout. It was a great workout, and you'll definitely feel it the next day. The instructors are really helpful, and make it really fun. Despite what the other post said the male receptionist was very nice and helpful in assisting me pick out some shorts that worked out perfect during the class. I also got two really cute belly button rings. Their prices are very fair. When you sign up for a class it does ask for your credit card but, it states it won't be charged unless you do not attend. I didn't think it was a problem at all to give my credit card in order to save my spot. Overall Spin Sity was really cute, clean, and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful! So I was introduced to this placed via a Groupon last year. Otherwise I never knew it existed. My Groupon had expired and I wasn't going to use it but I was in town & said hey let's write the owner. Jennifer is so nice, she honored the Groupon and let me check out 3 classes (newbie) that the Groupon was. We did all the paperwork online and then I was set and was able to reserve 3 classes and check out the studio last week. I chose intro to inverts, hips, and pole fit. Mind you the classes are only 30min but you really get a good upper body workout. I was a bit apprehensive becuz I was new but taking the introverts class with Jennifer was awesome. She walks you through each step making sure everyone is safe, comfortable in their timing and guides you how to do the movement. Everyone in class are women and there's no judgements , real positive energy and everyone just ready to learn. The next class "hips " with Lals was incredible! Really sweet instructor and guides you through the hip movement. I'm not a dancer so it was nice that she walked everyone through and then made sure one by one we did the move right or found something equal to it if cannot do the original move taught. The last class, pole fit - she didn't say her name. But class was good too. You do get a good workout coming here!!! Parking is street, and there's plenty of workout studio around so you feel safe. and SpinSity it's a laid back studio. No need to dress up, as that's the least of your worry. Bring water, do not wear jewelry bcuz you'll be holding the poles & just have fun. My Groupon ended but I saw 2 more classes online that I'd like to check out. We'll see. I love the instructors here especially Elena!!! I would give them 5 stars based on the instructors. Unfortunately at a price of $20 for a 30 minute session I think not. Not enough time to get a proper warm up in (10 minutes should include aerobic activity to increase heart rate and light stretching), especially because there's a lot of wrist and shoulder loading. So that would only leave you realistically with a 20 min workout. At other studios I have attended in Seattle/Denver they charge $25 for 1 hour and 15 mins which includes a 5 min warmup, 10 mins of strength conditioning and a 5 minute cool down. When trying to buy Groupon, and their cheaper packages I didn't read the fine print close enough as was dropped from classes. I love supporting instructors and small business that I like, but too much of a headache trying to make this studio work with my budget. read more

This is the best work out ever (that i've found)! not only do u tone up, u gain confidence, sexxxiness and great friends!! I had been thinking about trying this for a while, and found this place. Love it here. Jen is the best! I had a ton of questions and she is very responsive over email. She is also very friendly and the class sizes are on the smaller side so she will get to you to help if needed. There is way more to pole dancing than I thought there would be, and she is knowledgeable and explains things well. Some people seem to think its too pricey here and I saw the $20 for 30 minutes come up. That's the drop in price and drop in pricing for any class anywhere generally are expensive. Classes can be as low $5 per class if you get a plan. People also seem to think 30 minutes is too short. I thought that too. They do offer some more cardio focused classes for an hour long, but some of the classes are pretty intense and I wouldn't be able to last an hour. It can be that hard! This has definitely given me more appreciation for those ladies in the club! Updated: I had my first class with Marina the other day, and she is also awesome! Both her and Jennifer are very good teachers and give lots of insight on technique (yes, there is technique to pole dancing and shaking your booty!) to help you along. read more

This place is wonderful. I bought a Groupon deal for 5 classes and wasn't sure how to redeem it, so I contacted Jennifer and she was so friendly and helpful. I signed up for a class (sexi stiletto), and was really nervous, but when I got there the instructor was very welcoming and helped me be more confident in trying something new. I can't say enough good things about Marina's class. It's a killer workout and she makes the environment really comfortable. After the class, I even got an email from Jennifer asking how it went. Not only is the dancing/routines fun; the exercise is amazing! After only a 30 minute class I can feel that I've had an awesome work out! And I've learned a new dance :) There are lots of different classes to choose from so you can start slow and work your way up. Jennifer is a great instructor and goes at just the right pace for each level of class. The classes are never too full and the students range in age and size. I really really like this dance studio, they are very organized here and they have spinning poles but no regular non spinning poles, which is fine with me but now I have to go to two different studios ,because the other studio that I go to does not have spinning poles , only straight non spinning poles (my apologies about the lack of terminology)which is good for gaining strength . I am new to this form of dancing / exercising and they were very helpful, friendly and understanding to that . This is definitely a judgment free place . At first, when I was looking into spin sity online , I was turned off , I felt they were too strict, because I read that if you cancel a class less than 24 hours in advance , you will be charged a $20 cancellation fee ,and If you no-show to a scheduled class, you will be charged a $20 fee AND have the class count as one of the classes off your package, and after 3 no shows, the studio can suspend the student. That was a bit much because I do have small children (2) which means unexpected things can come up, but I was glad that I read that and I decided to keep it in mind when booking with them and just see how it goes. It was also hard to get in touch with someone to speak with them over the phone and get my questions answered, but I was finally able to reach someone through email. I think it should definitely be easier to speak with someone. I still decided to give it a chance and booked the class and I paid $40 for 8 30 minute newbie sessions (I am able to choose the days that work for me , and I can only choose newbie classes, which is definitely appropriate and an amazing deal). I felt so awesome after my first day that the "strict rules" didn't really matter to me anymore ,because after meeting them , I'm sure that if you communicate with them , they will make accommodations. Elena is awesome, she was my instructor on my first day and she's very sweet and makes you feel very comfortable , but she is not the only instructor there , it seems like each week they rotate instructors and I've only met 3 so far , and they all are very pleasant and knowledgeable but Elena is my fave. I came to Spin Sity for a bachelorette party with 7 other girls. We had an amazing time! The studio was closed off for our private party and they had put out all kinds of super cute decorations. We learned an awesome pole routine and then spent some time doing lap dances. The instructor was amazing and gave each girl some one-on-one attention and encouragement. Most of the girls bought merchandise because it is all so cute that we couldn't resist. I'm pretty sure most of us will be back for more, cause this was totally an event to remember, motivate, and make you feel good about yourself. read more

I never thought I'd fall in love with pole fitness! Jennifer and her team of instructors are amazing! They are very helpful and supportive. What I appreciated the most was their desire to make sure I was comfortable and reminders that pole takes practice! There are a variety of levels of classes so as I have progressed there have been classes available to me! An amazing workout and a great boost in confidence. I didn't get to take any classes. I bought a Groupon on vacation (I pole in Virginia). Unfortunately I had to late cancel and not only did they charge money they also took the classes from me, which their policy doesn't say they do. So I lost all the classes I paid for and they had the nerve to take funds from my account too. This is a horrible business practice IMO. My normal studio you will lose your class if you late cancel but to take more money on top is just trashy. And half hour classes seem like a joke as well. Would not recommend.
