The Vibe: The View From Inside After a full day of driving, I was ready to move. The room felt warm & spacious. A good place to settle into the body and begin to notice. The Guide: Izzy Henley - Hot Flow: Izzy invited us to begin wherever felt most comfortable in our bodies. From there, she invited us to step into the role of observer. Observe the breath. Observe the thoughts. Observe the sensations moving through the body. Just notice. Then we began a steady climb: Sun A. Sun B. Izzy cued the poses in English, guiding us gently and slowly through each side before we moved breath to movement. The pace stayed smooth enough for movement to follow the breath. Then we began moving around our mats. Long holds had us facing every side of the room, until Airplane was literally flying in opposite directions. Izzy offered options along the way: Arm variations in Airplane. Headstand in Wide-Legged Forward Fold. By the time we began down-regulating, my whole body felt as though it were melting into the mat. Then a cold lavender towel was placed in our hands during Savasana. Complete surrender. The Tribe: After class, I asked Izzy how she discovered yoga. Get this: She entered yoga teacher training at 16 years old and began teaching right away. She now has nine years of teaching behind her. Imagine if every school gave young people a place to observe their breath, their thoughts, and the sensations in their bodies. What a different world we might be observing. The Space & Place: From the outside, Align is understated. Inside, it feels grounded and cared for: Cool concrete floors. Warm wood. Green plants. A wall devoted to community. I've really loved this studio and have had great experiences in the past which is why I was disappointed by what happened today. I arrived about 10 minutes before my scheduled class but no one informed me which room the class would be in or what equipment we needed, which is usually communicated. When I walked in I noticed there was no one in the room and started wondering if something had changed because classes are normally full. I heard people asking about weights, so I assumed they were attending a different class. I stepped outside to use the restroom and waited to see if anyone else would come in, but I was still unsure of where my class was being held. When I went outside again, I saw someone rushing out for a block and realized the class was actually happening in a different room. By that point, the class had already started, and I was scrambling to figure out where to go and what equipment I needed. I had to carry everything from the other room into the correct class area while trying not to interrupt. I'm not sure if it was because I was perceived as being "late," but the instructor, Kylie Gifford, told me the class was full, even though there appeared to be one open spot in the front. I had woken up at 6 am, driven 25-30 minutes to get there, and had already taken my pre-workout in preparation for the class. Being offered to take the 8 AM class instead didn't feel like a practical solution after already making that effort and arriving on time. I left feeling upset, embarrassed and disappointed by the experience. I understand things happen, but I hope the studio can improve communication especially with class pass members to ensure they feel welcomed and know exactly where to go and what they need when they arrive. I truly enjoy this studio and hope this feedback helps create a better experience for future guests. read more

I joined Align Yoga in August 2024, admittedly a bit skeptical at first. But after taking my first class with Danielle, I was immediately hooked. She has a natural way of encouraging everyone in the room, and her energy creates such a positive and motivating experience. Hot Pilates quickly became a fun and engaging workout for me, but I've also enjoyed other classes like Hot Flow Yoga with Regine and Strength Fusion with Kristen. I am in love with this yoga studio. They are the only hot yoga studio in Pleasant Hill and Concord and Walnut Creek that still has a family community feel to it. They are really on top of their cleaning game which is incredibly refreshing and offer a wide variety of classes that are friendly to all ages, and abilities. Their staff is friendly and the community is also close-knit and there's a mature vibe that feels inclusive here. I tried this place via classpass. Look at their schedule and sign up ahead of time if you want a spot. It gets busy. Parking: limited so you will most likely have to find street parking. Make sure you read where you can and cannot park. Other businesses generally don't want you taking up their spaces. Staff and facility: polite front desk and nice instructors, esp if it's your first time there. It's well kept throughout the facility. Class: i did hot pilates and it's a good workout. Make sure you bring your own mat and towel to lay on your mat. You can bring an additional smaller towel if you sweat a lot. It is a small room with a full class. I felt like a sardine. Two different ppl touched my feet and I accidentally high fived another person when we were stretching. I prefer to have more space for class. read more

Amazing hot yoga studio! I've done hot yoga and hot yoga/cardio classes before and this studio is a lovely local version of some of the larger chains offering similar classes. I signed up for the $50 new member offer which gives you access to 2 weeks of unlimited classes. I tried a wide range of classes and enjoyed all of them. The instructors are friendly and welcoming and the studio itself is very clean. There's a small attached parking lot and I never had issues finding parking, but I imagine if there are 2 classes happening at the same time the lot would be a bit crowded. Once my 2 week trial was up I immediately got a class pass and signed up for more classes. You can book everything online in an app which makes the whole experience simple. Can't wait to continue my hot yoga practice here! read more

I signed up initially interested in their hot yoga classes, but tried Inferno Hot Pilates and I'm absolutely hooked. All of the instructors are absolutely incredible. Robert is super knowledgeable and has so much great info about form, while bringing energy to his class. Danielle is a fricking rockstar--she brings her absolute A-game to every class she teaches. She has an incredible amount of energy, helps to keep the whole class motivated. Plus she is so funny while also poignant at the right times. I've been practicing mainly Ashtanga & Vinyasa Yoga for the last 14 years but decided to finally branch out into Bikram - & now I'm asking myself why in the world did I wait so long? Incredible is an understatement. I took my first class today with Dash and it's safe to say, I'm addicted. Very clear instruction and an overall AMAZING class. This class may have been one of the most challenging, yet rewarding experiences I have ever had. I am very active regularly, but nothing has produced close to the after affect Bikram has. The feeling is unreal. I now completely understand why people stick to this practice for the majority of their life - the feeling, the physical, mental and emotional benefits, the constant humbling resulting in remaining grounded...we are very lucky to not only have Bikram, but an incredible instructor like Dash to teach us. It's life changing, truly. The studio itself is pristine and extremely well kept. The staff is incredible; making you feel super comfortable and welcome the moment you walk in. Excellent clean facility with friendly instructors. I've been away from hot yoga for many many years and I appreciated that I was not called out in class and any corrections are done privately. I have many injuries so I can't do some of the poses perfectly but I can try at my own pace. There are hardwood floors and they're cleaned/sanitized between classes. There's also cleaner available for your mat in the classroom. There's parking, lockers for your things. During the last posture I was pleasantly surprised by a cold wet (eucalyptus? infused) refreshing towel. The room is very hot! :-). You sign up for class online so the room isn't overcrowded. I got the 2 week package for $50. I have only tried Bikram yoga so far but will try the hot fusion and any other hot things I can squeeze in. Great studio! read more

Amazing instructors, wide array of classes and times, community is beyond amazing. We are so fortunate to have this gem in the area. Dash and Amy are both exceptional in every way. They take such good care of the studio, always clean, organized, and I simply cannot say how much you all mean to me and so many I know feel the same. And, what fantastic instructors. All fabulous, but my schedule has me mostly with Dash, Stephany, Danielle, Sue, Sal, who are all fantastic! I wish I could do more with Ivo, Kristin, Tiffany, Felicity, Larisaa, Kay, Kashiuk, Mona. I joined Align a few years ago, but I'm not new to yoga practice. I've tried multiple studios in the SF Bay Area, and after taking a couple of their new student special packages, I was hooked. For me, it's mainly about the energy a studio brings, and without a doubt, Align checked that box. If you're not all about energy but are looking for personable, knowledgeable, and supportive instructors, multiple yoga styles, a clean/well-maintained facility, and convenient class schedules (with classes as early as 6 am and as late as 7 pm), then this studio is your best option. If you love heated classes, Align really heats you up; not into dripping sweat? They offer regular, non-heated classes on the schedule. Align also holds regular community workshops and events, so you can learn new tools for self-care and connect with other yoga lovers. First time booking with this yoga studio, wanted to give it a shot before buying more classes. Went with Jen, for a 90 minute session. It was by far the worst first timer yoga class to be a part of. The entire time I spent trying to figure out what language she was speaking. Her words went so fast it was like she was speaking a different dialect. Majority of time spent trying to figure out what pose we're doing since all she was doing was speaking and not showing us. The room is packed like sardines, hot and humid which I enjoyed, but packed beyond belief. Ended up gathering my stuff and leaving 30minutes prior to class ending due to not understanding this teachers language and having a hard time with flowing due to it! None of the class schedules tell you that your teacher is going to speak fast, not participate or speak multiple languages during the session. Highly recommend checking into the store first before booking otherwise you might end up in the situation I was in. The reception even mentioned that was normal for her class...sadly didn't get that info until afterwards. read more

I'm addicted to hot yoga/ Pilates/......even Bikram now because of this studio. All of the instructors I've taken a class with have been super friendly and helpful. The community is great and once you start going regularly you get to know the regulars, which is fun. Most are nice! I also like the attention they pay to your poses and the little hints they give during class to strengthen your pose and help you get better. This is probably the first time that I've ever actually been consistent with my practice and I'm so happy that i actually enjoy my time there + space is clean and well maintained. I love inferno hot pilates with my entire heart and soul. It is so powerful and so motivating and so good for the soul, but what keeps me coming back to align is Danielle. She is a queen and she is the definition of power, creativity and love. I go back to her class because of how much I LOVE her after class. Danielle Raab is a MUST! Where do I even start? She is hands down the best instructor I have ever taken! I have never felt more motivated and inspired by a an instructor or a class. She has helped transform my post partem body as well as reinvigorated my confidence. I rarely look forward to working out but find myself excited for each of her classes. Her workouts are BOMB. I started going to classes at Align about four months ago. The first class I took was hot Pilates with Danielle Raab, man did I jump off the deep end. BUT it was in the best way possible. I had never been so challenged and cheered on at the same time than in her class. Danielle learns your name by the first class you attend. After that first class, she will call out your name whether it's to cheer you on when you think you can't go anymore or to give you little critiques to help you along the way. The absolute worst restorative- 3 postures in an hour, 2 were savasana. My experience with restorative is deep poses, supported twists, sinking into a long pigeon pose and other hip openers. Instead, this was a guided nap/lecture on meditation, completely supine for an hour. What a waste. read more

I've been doing Yoga (mostly Bikram) in the Bay Area for 30 years and Align is my favorite studio. The place is clean, lively and extremely well-run. The owner, Dash Nagata, cares a lot about the quality of the classes, the cleanliness of the studio, and overall positive vibe that's important to keeping students coming back.
