Fast forward 1.5-2 years later: my oldest started high school and is getting an A+ in almost every subject. My son started 6th grade last fall and as the months progressed, I noticed he was falling way behind in his reading and writing assignments. He was struggling as each months rolled by. And I tried to help him myself and I have tried other avenues of reading and writing programs that have not been successful for him. I have searched for many in-person tutoring sites to see which will be the best fit for him. When I was consulting with Mr A regarding my son's struggles, he knew exactly how I felt. I described in short that my son can't even write a SIMPLE descriptive christmas card is when I knew he was in trouble. When Alex got assessed , he was exactly in the level I knew he was, 3 grade levels behind. The more in depth we discussed how to get Alex Caught up and that tutoring clubs program has been successful, I truly believed this might be the help he will finally get and need. Mr A said my son has time to catch up and that their program is successful. Here we are 4.5 months later, I'd like to report that I am overwhelmed with joy to know my son has made major breakthrough in comprehension and writing. Though he still has a long way to go, but in the short time frame he's been at tutoring club, I have seen a major improvements in his comprehension, in his writing, and most importantly his self esteem. I recently read one of my sons argumentative papers and I cried happy tears. Given he still have grammatical and puntuation errors, I couldn't believe he wrote a full page essay. This has brought tears to my eyes because he couldn't even write a simple note in card without feeling frustrated. My son has a speech delay which made it very difficult for him to read , spell or even sound out words. My son hasn't made it to a year here yet and it has been amazing! He's reading , writing and sounding out words. It has worked wonders for him. He has confidence and wants to read . At his school they also noticed how much better his reading and how positive he is, not scared to raise his hand to answer. I'm very thankful for the great tutors here! With all the tutoring services available nowadays, I highly recommend TC in MIlbrae. The tutors they hire are very good with kids of all ages and they really bring the kids along the journey. I started my middle schooler at TC not because she was doing poorly in school but she lacked confidence in learning math; it was work to get my wife to agree to tutoring "help" when she hadn't demonstrated she needed help with the skills. But over time, not only did she start to demonstrate more confidence thanks to the low student to tutor ratio, threby getting lots of attention in learning, but she also excelled and has moved well beyond the expected skill level at her age and grade. Tutoring Club has given her the confidence we sought when we started and more; she now embraces math competition opportunities and looks forward to, rather than cowards from, the challenge. My son was having difficulty reading since Kindergarten and it got so bad we had to go meet with the teachers and principal on a quarterly basis to discuss. Was finally asked to take him to the doctor for assessment. I decided that we should give tutoring a try instead. I have been looking for an educational summer school ever since my kids started school when I stumbled upon Tutoring Club. The Tutoring Club in Millbrae is very spacious and welcoming. Their curriculum is very well structured and can benefit kids grades K-12. Each child has their own customized curriculum and an instructor that can answer the child's questions. Every question a child answers correctly earns them tokens which they can exchange for prizes or money. This rewarding system is great and my kids love to go back to do more work since the first day! My daughters didn't like previous 5-6 summer schools/ tutoring places but they really enjoyed Tutoring Club. We enrolled my older son in Tutoring Club over three years ago and it has been a tremendous success supplementing his education. The curriculum is catered to his abilities and moves appropriately at his rate. My son is above grade level in both reading and math thanks to Tutoring Club. At the beginning of the school year, my younger son was struggling to read at grade level but thanks to Tutoring Club he quickly caught up. The facility is spacious, clean and well maintained. All the staff is supportive, well-trained and responsive. My sons are also involved in a lot of sports and Tutoring Club is extremely flexible in meeting our schedule needs. I am extremely pleased with the progress my son has made through the program at the Tutoring Club. While he does well in school (7th grade), I felt his language arts foundation wasn't as strong as it needed to be. We started our daughter about a year ago based on the recommendation of another family at school and what a difference in her math comprehension. Her tutor, Megan, has worked with her since the beginning and has brought her grade to a consistent level that she feels proud of. The Tutoring club is a great program that engages children at their individual levels, providing resources and structure to focus and strengthen their academic skills. Using the tools gained during tutoring, my children's confidence improved and this was reflected not only in their academic report cards at school, but also at home - homework time is way less stressful now. My two sisters and I have been attending Tutoring Club for years now. I began in 2009, second grade, where I worked with really personable and supportive tutors that provided lesson plans that met my personal needs, at the SF location. There I built a strong vocabulary/english and math foundation, which I continue to be grateful for. Not to mention, everyone there is super dedicated in helping you improve, constantly greets you with a smile, while keeping it professional. Then, due to my school change, I took a brief break from tutoring club. A few years later, my mom was contacted by Mr. A that he was opening a Millbrae location. We quickly signed up knowing the benefits it had brought me. This time my two sisters and I were all enrolled. It was clear the standards set by the SF location exceeded expectation, at the Millbrae location.
