It was my words against their words without a written contract. The regional director told me as "doing me a favor to be down at the office to meet with me". This was a very arrogant statement. As you can imagine, after they take your money, all courtesy is out the window. My suggestion is to go somewhere else where you can don't have to buy the package in advance. This way it can ensure the quality of services that your kid receives.

All of a sudden, before the school starts, the receptionist told me that my kids can't continue the Tuesday session with Philip anymore because I didn't respond to the email they sent to me. The Tuesday spots my kids have are given to other students. However, there is nothing stated in the email that we as the parents are required to respond to the email if we want to keep the same schedule, or if we didn't respond to the email, our regular session will be given to other students. No one at the center has ever asked my kids if they want to keep the same Tuesday session or switch to a different schedule before or after their tutoring session on Tuesdays. I talked to the center director Norman wang right away, he was very angry and raised up his voice to tell me that your kids have been with Philip for 2 years on Tuesday doesn't mean that they can be with Philip on the same schedule for as long as you want?!! My kids tried to talk to the front desk this evening as well, the front desk person at c2 just told my kids that since your mom didn't respond to the email, we can do whatever we want. I have included the email they sent to me. This is really unfair. I think they treated us this way is because we purchase a big package($16k)from c2 about 2 years ago. Just be very careful parents, if you want to buy tutoring package from c2, pay attention to the hours they subtract as well. A few parents have warned me about this. I will try to talk to the district manager to resolve this issue. Will keep you guys updated as soon as I hear more from the upper management.

Fast forward 1.5-2 years later: my oldest started high school and is getting an A+ in almost every subject. My younger is now in middle school and has commented often how much the tutoring has helped in class: "I see my friends struggling with what the teacher presented today but I already knew how to do it because I learned it in tutoring". Investing in this tutoring program was worth every penny to see my kids excel in school. They are now confident and eager to learn. Big thanks to the team at Millbrae Tutoring Club!

And I tried to help him myself and I have tried other avenues of reading and writing programs that have not been successful for him. I have searched for many in-person tutoring sites to see which will be the best fit for him. When I was consulting with Mr A regarding my son's struggles, he knew exactly how I felt. I described in short that my son can't even write a SIMPLE descriptive christmas card is when I knew he was in trouble. When Alex got assessed , he was exactly in the level I knew he was, 3 grade levels behind. The more in depth we discussed how to get Alex Caught up and that tutoring clubs program has been successful, I truly believed this might be the help he will finally get and need. Mr A said my son has time to catch up and that their program is successful. Here we are 4.5 months later, I'd like to report that I am overwhelmed with joy to know my son has made major breakthrough in comprehension and writing. Though he still has a long way to go, but in the short time frame he's been at tutoring club, I have seen a major improvements in his comprehension, in his writing, and most importantly his self esteem. I recently read one of my sons argumentative papers and I cried happy tears. Given he still have grammatical and puntuation errors, I couldn't believe he wrote a full page essay. This has brought tears to my eyes because he couldn't even write a simple note in card without feeling frustrated. I am truly impressed and I thank you Mr A and the wonderful tutorers that have given my son their time and patience in teaching him. And my son doesn't dread attending class. They are remarkable teachers. I highly recommend Tutoring Club .

Someone in another review put it well "this is not an honest business". I wish I had seen that…read moreburied review before I chose this program. It was based at a local middle school, so I figured it was legit. My daughter was enrolled for 3 days before we pulled her out of the program. On the surface, when we arrived, the program seemed lackluster - I wasn't provided the basic orientation information before our first day of camp, it wasn't clear what my kid would be doing or any of the basics of what to bring or expect. I'm used to peppy camp counselors with name tags and clipboards, helping to shepherd kids where they need to go, and helping the littles feel comfortable. There was none of this. It was held in the library of a middle school (I hope they went outside, but I'm not really sure), and seemed disorganized. But I figured that at worst, it would be a boring but benign 2 weeks of summer. My kid is pretty outgoing, so I figured, what's the worst that happens - it's located at public middle school, it's got to be legit, maybe just underfunded. At least they have field trips?... But then my daughter fell and hit her head and gashed her eye, and the staff did not call me. I didn't find out until pickup, and when I arrived, they told me that it was because they were not given the emergency numbers from the central office, and they were not able to reach the central office. I have worked with children in many places across my career - I have been a camp counselor, and this seemed absolutely implausibly unsafe. I immediately withdrew my kid from the program - called and left a voicemail that I was filing a complaint and initiated a refund through ActivityHero. But that's when the fun began. I didn't hear from anyone until the next morning/afternoon, and really not until I called back saying I was going to file a complaint with the City of Millbrae. But getting in touch with CAM EDU was surprisingly difficult. Firstly, there is no number for parents to reach staff at the summer camp where the kids are. I was only able to reach the phone number of a central hotline, which was rarely answered by a human--I got more response from chat bots/emails. Then, I realized that there are no academic staff listed on their website - the faces I recognized from the summer camp had titles like "Website developer", which made me pretty nervous - who is taking care of my child? The person who was alleged "camp director" isn't listed as staff on the website. And all staff on the website are listed without a last name, so there's no way to actually confirm their identity or role with the company. When I heard back from CAM EDU, I was put in touch with their General Manager/HR person, who is based abroad and has never seen their facility herself. However, she was very understanding, and provided an immediate full refund. But this still doesn't excuse an academic site where the administrators are not involved in the day-to-day programs. The entire company appears to be run through Google Voice phone numbers, and it gave the impression that there is in-fact no central office (the business address routes to a work/live loft in Millbrae), and does not follow basic safety protocol. There was no way I was going to let my kid go on a field trip with them. I now have more questions around the validity of the business, who the owners are, and who were the adults present. I strongly encourage other parents to do their own due diligence before sending their children to this camp.

The owner, Angie is an outstanding and experienced franchise owner who stands out with concern, education and inspiration. She knows this business model well. Her careful selection of team members clearly shows, from the center directors to the tutors themselves, everything shines. The location is immaculate and clean which is lovely, and the system they offer of learning math in terms of increasing fluency with numbers and being taught a system for breaking down problems so that you become both a fluid and fluent problem solver is a welcome game plan. I have a 4th Grader and 1st Grader here and both have gained some serious traction in math that easily translated into their respective classroosm. They have more math muscle to use! My Fourth Grader I was worried about as the work and complexity piled up in the 4th Grade. Having slipped slightly down the slope in 3rd Grade, I was concerned for what lay ahead in 5th Grade for him and felt this was a turning point, a time to dig in and so we dove in and started Mathnasium. So glad we did! It's made a real difference. FYI.. we did try Kumon several times back to back previous years and my son just didn't take with it. It's fine with a lot of his friends but for him it was a no go. This place.. he likes a lot. I think it has to do with the personal attention the tutors give here and the hands on material. Like another reviewer said it's about 1:3 ratio of tutors to students. Kids are given an assessment first which is great, and then you know where to begin. Then they work on fluency and also at their assessed skill level until they can move onto the next level, assessed both in terms of "fluency" and "grade level.) We were not so surprised to see my son initially tested in lower than his actual grade level. But in just a few short months he's risen right up and now at grade level (4th) assessment and hopefully pull into the 5th Grade level before he's actually in 5th Grade at school. So if you are on the fence about supplemental math, this is a fun place, with a nice casual atmosphere with intent. There is no homework like Kumon, so kids feel like they are done when they leave and that is great. They have punch card system with points, and points equal prizes which seems to motivate and keep festive the math education. Check em out! one last thing.. when I was a kid I fell behind in math and I never really recovered- it got to a point where i just wasn't comfortable and just struggled to get it done. My hope is to have my kids avoid this and while they don't have to LOVE math,I want them to feel confident and strong with it, so they can feel free to learn as much as they can without negative "I can't do it' feelings. Big Thank you's to all the staff, A.J., Keith , Angie, all who know my kids by name and make it fun while taking the time to make it cool to do Math. Oh.. my 1st grader! he really didn't need too much help he's only in 1st! but he insisted on joining because of big brother and how much fun it looked. It's paid dividends.. I think he is stronger and more confident and his teacher said math is one of his strongest subjects.

I was so concerned I pulled them out to homeschool them and I'm sure many parents today also want to give the best opportunities for their kids to learn and master academic subjects. The last time I wrote, it was two years ago and I'm happy to report that both my kids continue to do well. My son finished his sophomore year with a 4.7 GPA, and starts honors trig next year. Because he does athletics in the WCAL, he has had interest from the Ivy League schools including Yale and Cornell, and most recently some interest from Stanford. He currently has four college offers - obviously for athletics, but without a strong GPA and honors classes, the Ivies and schools like Stanford will not look twice. My daughter also has maintained her 4.0 as she's still in middle school and balances that with her athletics. I can't say that SAM math is responsible for all of it, but they did play a pivotal role in the early years of my kids, and in giving them the confidence they needed to understand fundamentals of math. You cannot go wrong with the way Singapore math is taught. Do your research! Rather than having math be a stumbling block for my kids, it was interesting and fun. And when something is fun, kids don't mind doing it. Part of that fun is that they would have a lot of time to questions and the program was tailored to their development. When I asked my kids if they remember their SAM math days, of course, they remembered all the folks instrumental in making it fun for them. The first name they mentioned was Toro who was their last instructor, and they recalled his name the minute I mentioned SAM math. And this was years ago now. As a homeschooler, my children never did homework above and beyond what their school time was. This permitted us to have time with our family that was uninterrupted and unburdened by additional homework. Conversely, if my kids had a field trip during the day or if they had Other opportunities or events their schooling could wait until the evening, and it wasn't stressful and overwhelming. When my son was in kindergarten, it would be so hard to get him to do his homework because he was absolutely mentally done by 3pm. So with the Singapore math in their early years, followed by Beast Academy from the Art of problem solving, it was definitely enough to prepare them for algebra one in eighth grade. Once again, best wishes to all you parents on this journey to educate your kids. I wish you the same peace of mind and empowerment on your journey to create some mathematical animals!

My daughter just finished her Freshman year at American University and it has been an excellent fit for her. The only thing I did to help her with her college prep and research was sign her up at the Learning Studios. They held her accountable for all the steps along the way and she was pretty much done with the hard stuff by the start of her Senior year. Without the Learning Studios, I know this would have involved many stressful moments between her and me. It was worth every penny. They also provided excellent math tutoring for her (e.g., precalculus, and AP calc plus more). I've since recommended The Learning Studios to other families and all have been very pleased.
