My daughter started working with AJ Stevie on Algebra 1 this spring as she prepares to enter high school. Stevie is very patient, kind, and easy for teenagers to connect with. Since he studied physics, he is also incredibly talented in math. My daughter often says that he makes math much easier to understand, and that has really helped her build confidence before starting high school. He also regularly communicates with us about my daughter's progress and learning goals. This is very important to parents. read more

Not an effective program. Our son did the group SAT prep class. He studied, practiced and did all of the coursework outside of class. IThere were no real improvements among his 3 practice test AJ Tutors administered. I asked the instructor about this and he said it was typical but let's see how the SAT goes and then we can assess if we want a 1:1 session (more $$ of course). We received the SAT scores and the total score has no improvement. After the 2nd practice test I inquired if we could get a list of question that were answered incorrectly so we could focus/revise studying and it didn't happen. The program is very expensive to not see any gains or meaningful improvement in overall test score from the practice tests. Instructors should know how to get students past a plateau. read more

Matthias Fisseha from AJ Tutoring worked with my son on SAT prep. He put together a reasonable study schedule for my son that worked around his school work and activities/sports, and Matthias was able to tailor and adjust the lessons to what my son needed to work on most. By the end of their weekly sessions he and my son were solely focused on working through the hardest math problems quickly. Matthias was able to help my son bring up his score by over 100 points from his first practice test - and he ended up getting a near-perfect SAT score. Signed up our child for Catholic standardized test prep, spent thousands over several months, only to discover they *taught the wrong test*. They taught college math prep instead of high school prep, so our kid felt bewildered every week. Finally one week before the entrance exam, we discovered they were teaching the wrong material. I learned years ago that my voice in explaining school work was not resulting in positive outcomes and I reached out to AJ tutoring to help me. . Ryan Pelkey started working with my younger daughter on Geometry in 2020.  In an effort to curb the helicopter parenting that I feel disables our youth... I introduced myself to Ryan as the "I am just here to pay the bill.  All communication should be between you and my daughter".   They started asynchronously and while more zoom meetings were tough,  they made it. They finished homework assignments, studied for tests and she was able to turn her grades around. This past summer when it was time to start SAT prep, something that my older daughter had already spent many hours doing with another AJ staff member... Ryan was up for the challenge. A short 6 weeks later, the in-preson SAT prep concluded and my daughters came home with sad faces.  Why the sad face?  "Ryan was really good, he was awesome at coaching both of us even though I am a senior and she is a junior" I can't remember every compliment, but there were a lot.   My girls diligently went through SAT prep work book every Saturday morning eating their bagels.  I never once had to remind them about tutoring or their commitment to it.  Knowing my kids, I have to say it is because of the high teaching acumen and Ryan's ability to connect with the students needs. My son got paired up with the PERFECT test tutor, Rajman Randhawa. Rajman was not only extremely knowledgeable, but he was also emotionally supportive, highly communicative and flexible with his scheduling. After 10 lessons within a 5 wk period, my son bumped his score by 100 points, 1330 to 1430. We could not have been more pleased with his score and his entire tutoring experience, esp with Rajman.
