I joined Ivy Admissions in September, and they helped me a lot with the college application process. My counselor, Maryam, helped me write several essays including the Common App as well as supplemental essays for my target schools. She led me step by step through the process of brainstorming, drafting, and editing. Her constant positivity is contagious, and I really appreciate the encouragement she gave me. I was feeling really overwhelmed at first especially for the Common App essay since the prompts are so broad, and Maryam's guidance helped me organize my thoughts and focus my essay on my most unique attributes to best showcase myself to colleges. Additionally, my essays were reviewed by multiple people, and it was really helpful to have my writing read and critiqued by different perspectives. Ivy Admissions also helped me, a huge procrastinator, finish essays in a timely manner with concrete deadlines and checkpoints. They also helped me format my resume! A slight downside, however, was that they did not have counselors who had experience reviewing college art portfolios (I was applying to several art and design programs). My experience with Ivy Admissions was beyond satisfactory. I recently graduated as a part of the class of 2020, and conferred with one of the counselors in the fall of 2019. The guidance offered in navigating through the complex and layered admissions process was undoubtedly helpful. My counselor, Maryam, helped me plan out and outline each college essay. Furthermore, her method of helping me develop a personal narrative helped my application truly blossom and shine. Ultimately, I will be attending the University of Texas at Austin thanks to the skills and tips I received from her. I am also on the waitlist for Georgetown University and Duke University as well. For someone who has never dealt with admissions before, applying for college can be quite a daunting and uncertain process. I really enjoyed my experience with Ivy Admissions! Deanna was a great help, and she guided me in areas outside of just writing college essays. I started in the summer of my junior year, and Deanna helped me stay on track in my artificial intelligence internship and also helped me with my submission for the Congressional App Challenge. The Ivy Admissions team has many resources, and Deanna connected me with a team member who had previous experience with app design and coding. Throughout the process, Deanna and her team edited and helped me outline my essays in a timely manner, and everything was organized on a google spreadsheet and google drive. The team is flexible, encouraging, and understanding of the points I want to give across in my essays. I liked having someone there to make sure I was on track with my college applications. IvyAdmissions helped me get into Carnegie Mellon and Berkeley computer science, two reach schools tied first place nationally for computer science. I was also accepted into UMich, UIUC, USC, and UT for computer science as well. Even after the college application process ends, IvyAdmissions offers assistance with scholarship applications as well, which is also very helpful. It was the summer after my junior year I needed to start with my college process. I considered myself unprepared because I didn't have any plans on how to tackle the college admissions and was not very clear on which college I wanted to apply to. In my first meeting with Deeana, she gave took great efforts in trying to understand my background, my talents, and my goals. After understanding my background she set a detailed plan on what I needed to do, starting with entering a coding competition. Working on the essays, resumes, and short answers I was paired with Maryam. She was super helpful when helping me come up with very unique ideas and looking over essays and short answer responses. We hired Ivy Admissions for our son to help improve his testing strategies but also to help fill in some missing knowledge due to missed classes from an illness. He was matched with Roland who was an ideal tutor for our son - they formed a strong bond - and took us out of the equation. He was very motivated to work with Roland. We ended up working with Roland to help our son with his essays as well. Roland was very effective in teasing out our son's feelings about the various essay topics. As his parent it was enlightening to read them - things he would have probably not wanted to share with us had we tried to coach him. But the proof is in the pudding. Our son got a bump in his SAT score which put him the sweet spot for his colleges of choice. More importantly he was accepted by 9 out of the 10 colleges he applied to thanks to the quality of his essays. The college he choose also offered a special scholarship from the alumni organization.
