Chris is an outstanding counselor. He helped me write my essays for UCs and the Common App and supplementals for schools such as NYU and Columbia. His organization and the information he provides about all of the schools are amazing and reduced the stress of having to research all of the small things for each school I was interested in. The way he guided me to write the essay was efficient and saved me a lot of time as I didn't have to write the same essay for another question that was similar to the last. I was able to finish my essays by August. It was a big relief and the whole process seemed very manageable with his help. His ability to provide fluidity in my writing and his knowledge of college admissions helped me especially because my writing was "impenetrable" or difficult for someone who didn't know me to understand. Besides the support he gave me with essays, he was also very easily accessible and understanding. I had his number and if there was anything that came up in the way of a meeting, I could just text him and I got a response in less than an hour. Any rescheduling of a meeting was simple and caused no trouble. Chris is a very straightforward person and gave me the support and advice I needed to write my essays. He is also pretty funny and a down-to-earth person which helped as meetings didn't come as something I didn't want to do. Chris was a great college counselor and I recommend him as his understanding of the application process and his ability to tutor and write were a great help. read more

Green Academics - Private Tutors Near Me - San Mateo, California

I come from a non-traditional educational background, having gone directly to the US Air Force out of high school, only to stare down my UC undergraduate applications at the age of 29. Chris helped calm my nerves during the entire process. Chris is patient and has a unique talent of channeling your talents with the best possible outcome. He reassured me that my uniqueness had value. He got me talking about my achievements, made me feel proud, and helped me coalesce my thoughts into an essay that won me acceptance to Cal. In fact, after my acceptance into Cal, the admissions team asked if they could publish my personal statement to help other prospective students. Out of thousands of applications, they remembered mine! I highly recommend Chris for anyone who struggles to put their thoughts to paper for a personal statement. Thanks to Chris, my life trajectory changed in ways I never imagined. Chris has also tutored me in other areas such as Math and Writing. Learning never ends and Chris is unceasingly helpful in all aspects of my life. He is the most incredible writer I have ever met. I also plan on using Chris' services when I enter the work force after college. Meticulously written cover letters, resumes and thank you notes will put you above the rest. Thank you Chris. I am forever grateful. read more

Green Academics - My dreams came true on April 28th, 2017, the day that changed my life forever. My sincerest gratitude to Chris at Green Academics! - Private Tutors Near Me - San Mateo, California

Chris is a gem. He was highly recommended by a friend whose four boys had previously worked with him. While my son genuinely wanted to increase his SAT score, he was not making attempts to do it on his own. I was initially hesitant to work with a tutor if my son wasn't going to put in the effort on his own first. What I came to realize was the testing and application process is daunting and sometime paralyzing for certain individuals. My son was not only challenged by Chris to increase his math score but he actually, and most importantly, learned how to learn. He claims he gained more knowledge about math from Chris than any previous teacher. They also developed a mutual, respectful rapport. For these reasons alone, I feel the investment has paid for itself. Chris also worked with him on his college essays. He was able to help him structure his essays in a way that genuinely reflect his unique interests and opinions. Throughout this process, I never once heard a complaint from my son, including all of the Saturday morning practice tests. This is a testament to Chris' ability to connect and convey the importance of hard work. Highly recommend! Winston is an added bonus! read more

My daughter was in need of immediate math tutor. Since I heard a lot of positive feedback about Christopher, I called him and left a message to find out if he could help my daughter with calculus at college level. Considering that was Sunday afternoon, it was very impressive that he called me back immediately. Even though we didn't know each other, he was very friendly and motivated to help. Also, he is very knowledgeable and made himself available in the same day to tutor my daughter in order to understand the concept very well. We highly recommend him and he is a wonderful person and pleasant to work with. Mojgan read more

Chris is a fantastic tutor! My son had a test the next day and he didn't understand the math concepts that were going to be on the test. I found Chris on Yelp. At short notice, Chris helped my son. He was so happy that Chris was able to help him understand the math in just 30 minutes! My son said he is the best tutor he has ever had. read more

We were in a challenging situation early in September of this year as the college counselor we had did not quite work well for our son. We were in panic mode as we had to find another help in such a short time. Our son had previously worked with Chris for SAT prep and was very happy working with Chris. So we approached Chris, and he graciously adjusted his schedule to accommodate our son. We were impressed by how Chris handled the whole situation, especially since we were very short of time. Although our son had been working on the essays, coursework, and projects, it required quite some work as it needed to be more organized and done quickly. Chris came up with an exceptionally well-organized and structured approach so that our son could use the time most optimally. Chris worked backward from the target dates of submission and prepared a well-thought-out plan. Within a couple of weeks, our son could progress most efficiently. Chris also spent quite some time researching and suggesting the college list based on our son's interests. He guided him throughout the process to highlight the right accomplishments for the specific colleges. With Chris' structured plan, we could already see immense progress in the application process. Thankfully, we submitted applications at the right time for the ED and EA colleges and are on track to submit the others. Our family appreciates the excellent help and guidance Chris extended to our son and the outcome of it. We highly recommend Chris for college counseling, SAT preparation, and anything related to the college admission process. We would be happy to answer any queries which other parents may have. Please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you so much, Chris, for your timely help. We appreciate it. read more

I had an absolutely amazing experience working with Chris to prepare for the SAT and ACT in high school. With his help, I was able to raise my ACT score 4 points, which was instrumental in my eventual acceptance to Claremont McKenna College. The standardized testing and college admissions process can be extremely daunting for anyone, especially a high school kid and their parents, but having Chris guiding you every step of the way makes you feel like you will get the best score possible. I went to Chris with a final score goal that I wanted, but he really challenged me to achieve a score that I thought was impossible at first, but ended up exceeding with his help. One of Chris's main strengths is his ability to identify the areas that you need to work on and implementing a plan for every step along the test taking process. He has such a mastery of the tests that he knows exactly how to drill down into each section and create a custom plan with a unique timeline for each person's specific needs. These kinds of tests do not just depend on a person's knowledge of the specific subjects, but also a knowledge of how to take that kind of test. Chris provides both the foundation of knowledge and also a complete game plan on the different strategies that will help you get your best score. And he keeps his students and parents appraised of progress along the way so you always know exactly how you are improving and what areas you will continue to focus on. Again, I cannot say enough great things about Chris. I have taken a number of standardized tests in my academic and professional careers at this point, and I can confidently say that Chris is the best counselor I have ever worked with. He is such an amazing counselor and tutor, but also an amazing person with a great personality that makes each session fun even while you are drilling down into some pretty dense material. Chris is genuinely passionate about teaching and has such a powerful intellectual curiosity that it becomes infectious for his students. Do yourself and your son or daughter a favor and give Chris a call! read more

Chris has a gift. He can really help your child through the entire college testing and application process. First, my son needed tutoring for the SAT, the SAT Subject Tests, and then the ACT. Chris's expert instructions gave my son the knowledge and the confidence to perform well. Next, Chris helped my son with the college application process. There is so much to consider, not just the college essay. In the end, my son is so happy at UChicago. It wasn't his first pick, but it ended up to be the best fit for him. Thank you so much, Chris. I received ACT test prep and college essay tutoring from Chris back in 2012. Testing was always difficult for me but Chris gave me the tools and support I needed to succeed. I particularly struggled in math, but Chris would never get frustrated with me even when I got the answer wrong multiple times. He kept finding different strategies to get through to me and in the end it paid off. By my test date my practice scores had improved dramatically, and I felt confident in myself. With my scores I was accepted into every school I applied to. I ended up going to UC Santa Cruz and graduating with a BA in Biology. I am now in my second year of graduate school at Santa Clara University and am expected to have my Masters in Teaching by June 2019. I have continued to use the tools he gave me throughout college and beyond. Thank you so much Chris! read more

Chris Green tutored me for the SAT and subject tests. I had several SAT tutors in the years before I took those tests, and Chris was the best one. He is a natural teacher and finds a way to make what is honestly a pretty boring subject somehow entertaining. I always enjoyed the tutoring sessions because of his great energy. I ended up scoring a 2320 on the SAT and high enough on all of the subject tests to pass out of college requirements. I highly recommend Chris Green as a tutor. read more

Back in high school, roughly about five years ago, I had the privilege of being tutored by Chris. I was not the best student, but he was extremely patient with me and taught me not just how to do better on standardized tests, but also the importance of putting my best foot forward when applying to colleges. I am proud to say that I recently graduated with a degree in Business Marketing this past May. Chris is extremely talented, and made the whole entire college application process stress-free! read more

Having children in a very competitive community can present an unusual set of obstacles for students. My son was feeling overwhelmed by the college admissions process. We engaged Chris @ Green Academics to work with our son on SAT preparation at first. Chris has a methodical, organized approach which worked wonders for our student. Chris was so much more than an SAT tutor. He continued to work through every aspect of the college application process, helping relax our son's anxieties to the point where he was feeling confident with not only his SAT results (which increased ~23%) but also with his admission prospects. Chris is a tremendous resource for anyone in need of a little extra help. The fact that he is an independent third party makes his guidance that much more influential to the students (than their parent's opinions may be). I am so grateful to Chris for his ability to help our son focus his efforts to exceed the goals our son set at the beginning of the engagement. I 100% recommend Chris. THANK YOU! read more

With only six weeks to prepare, our daughter was approaching the March ACT/SAT testing dates with the goal of achieving a score to be poised for academic and athletic scholarships. We contacted Green Academics based on web recommendations and in our first meeting Chris quickly assessed our daughter's abilities, made recommendations as to which test would be best to take and demonstrated an expertise in this area that was truly impressive. He quickly presented a game plan to quickly get her on track and his high energy and articulate manner prompted us to get moving on this task. He was straightforward and made it clear that this demanded a lot of attention and dedication. Chris was able to squeeze our daughter into his very busy schedule. This was no small feat given her extremely busy schedule with athletics, school, and work. Our daughter quickly connected with him and rose to this commitment. Chris has a proven approach to test prep and the six week timeline was short; the challenge to increase her SAT score by ~ 140 points was daunting. Our daughter responded to Chris' instruction and during several practice tests made significant progress towards her goal. Chris takes the time to customize his instruction for his students, with a strategic approach that is effective and measurable. He takes immense pride in his work and personally seeks success for each of his students. Additionally, Chris' communication with parents is excellent. He frequently checks in via phone, text and email and gives clear metrics about our student's progress as well as any challenges she faced during their tutoring sessions. He capitalizes on the tutoring time and is cognizant that every minute of face-time with his students is precious. While you might pay less at other tutoring agencies and programs around, Green Academics is an example of "you get what you pay for." We had previously used another local tutoring agency with our older daughter and firmly believe that Green Academics is far superior. In fact, our daughter felt Chris was so helpful that she has now switched gears to have him assist her with AP Calculus. Our family highly recommends Green Academics tutoring. read more

Chris Green tutored my elder son for the ACT and in just a few sessions, we saw tangible improvement. In fact, I had a probability question myself (I am fond of quizzes) and was stuck but I still remember (5 years later) how easily, clearly and simply, he navigated the explanation and clarified the solution. I would highly recommend him! read more

As a U.S Army veteran and student at Cal, I still found it challenging to articulate my life into paper. But, with the help of Christopher Green, I was able to craft eloquent essays for top MBA programs. I felt confident in my applications to graduate school after my essays have impressed the likes of Berkeley professors. Working with Chris was fun, fast, and easy, as he is highly intuitive, intelligent and easy to talk to. I was amazed of his ability to make accurate inferences of my life and ambitions, in order to add valuable details in my essays. Additionally, his ability to correct grammar, offer articulated sentences, and produce coherent essays in a short amount of time was impressive. My application process was relatively stress free as I spent the least amount of time and energy in my essays and was able to focus on other important matters like the GRE. I chanced upon Mr. Green by fellow colleagues who, with his help, have gained acceptance into Cal. His name is spreading fast amongst the students at Berkeley, and as a result, his work is his marketing strategy. read more

Christopher has tutored two of our children for the ACT and the SAT subject tests. He is a gifted educator who is able to very effectively teach concepts (especially complex math), time management, and test-taking skills to empower his students to achieve their best possible score. He can work with students of varying abilities and can tailor programs specifically to each. He is the BEST tutor we've ever had, highly recommended!! read more

Chris helped me significantly improve my SAT and ACT test scores with a systematic and focused plan based on my strengths and weaknesses. Not only did Chris help me achieve meaningful results on standardized tests, but he also didn't hesitate to help me with questions I had about schoolwork. I highly recommend seeing Chris to ace any and all college admissions tests! read more

Chris is by far the best decision we've made as parents when it comes to getting our daughter on track for college. After Chris provided us with a free consultation, we only had one thought in mind...how come we did not find him sooner??? Chris charted a path that took tons of weight off our plate (and our daughter's plate) because we now know that we don't have to reinvent the wheel when it comes to testing, applications, essays etc. We have Chris! He is a flat out genius when it comes to transferring his knowledge of the SAT to his students. As parents, we struggle with the balance of giving our kids the best chance to succeed without overwhelming them in the process. Chris solves that problem immediately because he is so invested in our daughter's success but at the same time understands her time is limited. Our daughter already scored well on her SAT before we heard about Chris. Many tutors would have turned us down and said they could not raise our daughters score. Not Chris! He was able to isolate her exact weaknesses on the test. And the proof is in the pudding because she has already risen her score after taking two practice SATs. Chris is helping her with the single subject SATs as well. After that, we will focus on college applications. And yes, Chris will be there helping us every step! read more
