Random find in Irvine…read more Right next to Irvine Valley College, I came across this cute farm. According to their website, it's been around for over 100 years and is now run by the third generation, which is pretty cool. At The Original Manassero Farms Market - Irvine, they sell fresh fruits and veggies, and you can also book strawberry picking through their website. Entry is $16 per person, which includes a box and about 1 lb of strawberries. Kids under 2 get in free but don't get a box. One thing to note, the strawberries used for picking are not labeled as organic. The organic ones are sold separately at the market stand, with clearly marked pricing. Price-wise, it's honestly on the higher side. But if you want the experience of actually picking strawberries, I really don't know many comparable options this close to Irvine. They also have a few other locations in Anaheim, Tustin, and another Irvine spot across from 99 Ranch.

What a perfect spot for a school field trip! We were taken on a tour of the farm via tractor ride, got to plant our own seeds, had a class on chicken hatching, then saw and fed so many farm animals. The kids (and adults) had an incredible experience thanks to their amazing staff, who are kind, patient, and so good with little kids. Everyone had such a wonderful time, we'll definitely be back in the fall to see their pumpkin patch and fall themed fun activities.

Every room in my house now has sunflowers in it. :-) I hope Tanaka Farms will eventually outline the whole property with California native oaks, sycamores and coyote bush to protect themselves from fire and to filter out the noise and pollution from the highway.
